Brett managed to carry Santana all the way home, Even though she tried to convince him to put her down. "You are going to hurt yourself," Santana said, laughing as they waited for the elevator to get to their floor. "I've deadlifted heavier weights than you," Brett chuckled. Santana couldn't help but smile. After everything that has happened tonight, hearing Brett laugh made her heart melt. Santana tightened her hold on Brett as he walked to their front door. She laid her chin on his shoulder as he fumbled with the keys. "I cannot wait to get into bed," Brett said as he unlocked the door.

Brett walked in. The tv was lighting up the living room. Quinn was sitting on the couch and turned toward the couple. Brett and Santana could tell that she had been crying. Quinn's face was red and puffy. Brett let go of San's legs so she could slide off his back and land on the floor. He turned to face San, "Can you give us a minute?" he asked her. Santana nodded, "I'm going to get ready for bed," she said. Brett nodded and gave her a peck on the lips. Santana walked over to Quinn and placed a light kiss on her forehead. "Good night Q, love you" she whispered. Quinn smiled. "Love you too San" Quinn replied. Santana walked past Brett and gave his hand a squeeze before disappearing into the bathroom.

Brett felt so bad for his little sister. Seeing her on the couch right now, brought him back to the time Russell held her sobbing body while Brian drove him away. Brett sat down next to her and pulled her close. Quinn wrapped her arms around his waist as she sobbed into his shirt. Neither knew how long they sat there but once Quinn pulled away, Brett couldn't help but feel his shirt was damp.

"I am so sorry that I made you go to dinner," Quinn mumbled. "Hey, do not apologize! You did nothing wrong ." Brett said. "I made you go, I wouldn't have even asked if I had known," she said. "But you didn't know because I didn't tell you," he said. Quinn looked down at her fingers, "did he really hit you?" she asked. "Yeah he did," Brett said. Quinn still didn't meet his gaze because she was convinced that she would start sobbing again if she did. "And mom knew?" Quinn asked. "Yes. She watched him hit me multiple times" he explained. "I hate them," she said. "I think mom is scared of Russell. For all we knew, he is doing awful things to her too" Brett pointed out.

"Mom called me a little while ago, she was hoping to talk with us tomorrow," Quinn said, finally taking the risk and looking up. "I already saw them, I think that is enough for another ten years," he said. "Not both of them. Mom told me she got a separate hotel room from my dad. She wants to talk to the both of us tomorrow" Quinn explained. "Do you want to talk to her?" Brett asked. "Yeah, I have a lot of questions, do you think you would be up to it?" she said. "Why don't you ask me tomorrow?" Brett suggested. Quinn nodded.

"I don't know why I didn't remember the day you left," Quinn said. She was mad at herself. Quinn should have remembered that moment and if she did then she would have hated her father from the very beginning. "Quinn, you pushed that memory so far down. It was traumatic for a little kid. I don't blame you because if I could forget everything that happened I would choose to" Brett confessed. "But now everything is so clear. I remember it like it was yesterday. After you left, mom and dad just moved on. It was like you were never even there". Quinn admitted. "I don't want you to focus on that because it was so long ago. What matters is that Russell couldn't break us apart. I am not going anywhere Q" Brett explained.

"You're right. I am so glad that you are back in my life. I wish that you could have been there when we were younger but life is too short. You are here now and that is what is important" Quinn said. Brett smiled. She was right, life is too short. Out of everyone, Brett should know that especially after almost dying in war. For once in his life, he is truly happy. Russell Fabray and Sebastian Smythe are not going to take that away. "I am so happy that I am here too" Brett admitted.

Quinn couldn't help but smile. "Did Puck go home?" Brett asked. "Are you kidding? He refused to leave until you and San came home. He's asleep in my bed" Quinn said. "Good because if he left you upset then I would have had to kick his ass" Brett laughed. "Please don't do that because we both know that you would win and I kinda like him" she admitted. "Listen, let's go to bed and if you want to talk about this more then we will tomorrow," Brett said. Quinn nodded, "goodnight Brett, I love you" she whispered. "I love you too, little sis," he said, hugging her tight.

Quinn went back into her room and shut the door. Brett took a deep breath and looked at the couch. Fuck sleeping on that stupid thing. He walked toward Santana's room and slowly opened the door in case she was asleep. The light was on in the corner of the room just like he needed it to be. I guess she knew that Brett was going to crawl into her bed tonight. Brett slipped off his clothes leaving him in just boxers. He crawled into the bed. Santana wasn't making any noise so he knew she was awake.

"Tana" he whispered. "Yeah" she replied. "I can't do this anymore," Brett admitted. "Wh-wha-what are you talking about?" Santana asked, clearly confused and a bit nervous. Brett rolled onto his side so he could look at her.

She looked beautiful. "My life has truly sucked. It was so bad that I chose to go to war and was excited to get deployed again. I had nothing to live for and Russell always tried to convince me of that. A part of me believed it, especially hearing him say it again tonight, it brought back so many feelings. I thought I was worthless. I did what I always do and I ran. Except for this time, someone came after me." Brett said. He reached out and placed his hand on her cheek. Brett rubbed his thumb over her cheekbone. "You have helped me so much the entire time I have been here. Even though this dinner from hell you were there. You stood up for me, made sure I ate, and then came and found me in the middle of the night. Life is so fucking short Tana and I can't just keep doing this anymore" he said.

Santana looked scared and was using everything in her to not cry. "So what does this mean?" she choked out.

"You deserve everything. I wanted to make some grand statement to show you just how much I care about you. I wanted to show you that not all guys are assholes. I wanted to do this right but I can't wait. I almost died over there and I was taken away from my little sister; missing her whole life. I am not going to waste any more time" he said.

Brett took a deep breath and stared into her gorgeous eyes. "I want to be official," he said. "Are you asking me what I think you are?" San asked. "Santana Lopez, will you please allow me to be your boyfriend?" Brett asked. He bit his lip, nervous for her answer. Santana didn't say anything so Brett started to panic. "I knew I should have gone with my original plan and made it special. It's just that this night got me thinking and I didn't want to wait anymore. Can you just forget I even asked you? Damn it, I ruined everything." Brett rambled. Santana started laughing. "Now you're laughing, I am an idiot" he mumbled.

"Are you going to let me answer?" she asked, smiling. Brett looked at her and nodded. "I don't need a grand statement. It flatters me that you were even thinking of doing that for me. The only thing I need is you. I would love it if you were my boyfriend" Santana said. Brett smiled wide, the widest Santana had ever seen. "Really?" he asked, not really believing it. Santana nodded. "You're my girlfriend!" Brett said out loud. "I am your girlfriend," she said, smiling and giggling.

Brett pulled her close and pressed his lips to hers. His hand cupped her face while his thumb ran across her soft skin. Santana's hand ran down his back as they continued to kiss. Brett ran his tongue across her bottom lip, she immediately parted them. Brett kissed her passionately. Even though that is how he normally did, this meant so much more. Brett was now kissing his girlfriend. His hands slowly went down her back until he was met with her ass. Brett firmly grabbed it making Santana giggle against his lips. He pulled her on top of him so she was straddling his hips. Santana pressed her breasts against his chest. Her hands came up and firmly held on to his face. They were breathless but neither wanted to stop.

Brett's hands rubbed from the small of her back, down to her ass. Their kiss slowed, it was like both wanted to savor the moment. They slowly pulled away but kept their foreheads pressed together. "Is this real?" Brett whispered. Santana smiled and tucked his hair behind his ear. "100% real!" she said. Santana looked into his eyes, god she was so happy. But what happened at the restaurant made her think. Her feelings of sadness and fear came back, she didn't want her happiness to end. Here comes weepy Santana.

The smile slowly faded from her face. "What is wrong?" He asked, noticing the change in her facial expression. Santana shook her head, "nothing, nothing" she quickly said. Santana tried to capture his lips but he turned away. Brett abandoned her ass and rubbed her back, "you're lying" he said. Santana rolled off of him and lay on her side so she could still see him. Brett rolled to face her, placing his hand on her waist under her shirt. His thumb drew circles on her hip. "Talk to me Tana" he whispered. He watched as her gorgeous brown eyes turned glossy.

Was she going to cry? "Santana," he said. Santana moved closer to him and buried her face into his chest. He could hear that she was crying. What the hell just happened? Everything was so great and now she was crying in his arms. His chest was wet with her tears. Brett wrapped his arms around her, "shhh, it's okay" he whispered. He had seen Santana cry before but this tugged at his heartstrings. Brett whispered over and over, rubbing her back; doing anything to calm her down. He heard her mumble into his chest. "Baby I can't hear you," he said. Santana pulled her face back a little but didn't look at him. "I don't want you to die," she said, voice cracking through her tears.

Santana's tears continued to fall. What made her say that? Brett thought. He was completely dumbfounded, where was this coming from? Brett caressed her face, he tried to make her look at him but she refused. "Tana, baby….. Please look at me" he whispered. Santana sniffled and slowly tilted her face up, meeting his gaze. Her face had a red tint and was stained with tears. Brett wiped some of the tears away, seeing her so upset absolutely killed him.

"Where is this coming from?" he asked, talking softly. Santana was breathing heavily. "Take a deep breath, in and out," Brett said. She followed his breathing, trying to slow her hyperventilating down. "I think you are having a panic attack. You need to breathe Santana. I am right here, everything is okay" he said, trying to talk her down, doing what she has done for him so many times. He continued to breathe with her. Santana finally took control of her emotions and steadied her breathing. "Okay good, now I need you to tell me where that came from?" Brett asked. He was desperate to provide her comfort, anything to make her feel better.

"At dinner," she said. "What happened at the dinner to make you think that I am going to die?" Brett asked, confused. Santana sniffed again, "At dinner, you said you were going to go back to war. Then after you left, Russell said that you were just going to leave and die overseas." she explained. Brett sighed, what he said was true but he didn't think that Santana would get so upset over it. Even while saying it, Brett didn't even register it as a big statement because he always knew he would go back eventually, but to her it meant everything. Then Russell had to go and say that to her. If he was still there Brett knows things would have gotten physical. Brett didn't care if Russell came at him but now he is making Santana sob. Brett wished he could punch Russell in the face right now.

"I am not going to die" he whispered. "You don't know that. You got really hurt, what if you go back and die? Just like Russell said." she asked. "Baby" Brett whispered, Santana shook her head, "please don't go back" she whispered. "Tana it is my job, they are probably going to send me back but it is not worth getting upset over right now. I am still healing so they are not going to deploy me for a bit" Brett said, wiping some more tears that escaped from her eyes.

Brett didn't know what else he could say to her. He had never had someone care about him so much. Brett had seen people in movies act like this. He had even seen Carrie react emotionally a few times they were deployed but no one had reacted this way in regards to his deployment. "I just got you," Santana said. "No, you didn't…. You had me from the moment I saw you" Brett said. Santana sniffed loudly again. "I don't know if I am going to get deployed again or when it might happen but you have me. Whether I am here or there, you have me Tana," he said. Brett could tell that it made Santana feel a little better but she was still visibly upset.

"I can't handle it if something happens to you" she admitted. "You can't think about that. You of all people know that things happen to people every day, even here in the United States. If you focus on that it is going to eat you alive and then we won't be able to enjoy the time we have" Brett explained. Santana knew he was right. "Listen, I can't promise you that I will ever get deployed again, but every year I would volunteer to go back. This year I promise I won't do that. I will try everything I can not go back." Brett promised. "Okay baby?" he asked. Santana nodded. "I never want you to think your feelings are nothing, so if you feel this way again, tell me" Brett pleaded.

Santana nodded again. "Now come here," Brett said, pulling her close again. Santana buried her face into his chest again. Brett wrapped her securely in his arms. "What else can I do for you Tana?" he asked. "Just hold me" she whispered back. "Always," he said before kissing her head. They laid there, tangled together. Brett refused to close his eyes until he heard Santana's softs snores. He continued rubbing her back until he heard them, only then did Brett allow himself to fall asleep, never letting her go.

Valerie started blasting through Santana's phone, awakening both of them from their slumber. She groaned and cuddled closer to his bare chest. Neither really moved throughout the night, both were still pressed together. Brett slowly opened his eyes. The light in the room was bright. Below him was a mess of brunette hair, clinging to him. Brett was able to reach around her, grabbing her phone and snoozing the alarm.

Brett kissed the top of her head. Last night was so bad and so good at the exact same time. This girl in his arms is now his girlfriend and she means everything to him. Brett made a vow, he was going to do everything not to go overseas again just like he promised her. The military helped him at one point in his life but that was the past, Brett knew that Santana was his future.

Brett laid there just holding her. The smell of vanilla, which was her smell took over his senses. Feeling her hot breath against his naked chest brought him comfort. Santana was his comfort. Valerie blasted through her phone once again. Brett decided against snoozing it and just shut it off. Her loud groan made him smile.

Santana pulled away and stretched out her arms and legs. Boy did they get stiff scrunched up against Brett all night basically in a fetal position. Santana looked up at Brett. Her face was blotchy with some eyeliner still stained on her cheeks. "Good morning," she said. "Good morning, beautiful," Brett said back. Santana laughed, "I bet I don't look so beautiful right now," she said, running her hands over her face. "You're always beautiful," he said. Santana leaned over and kissed him. It was a simple and gentle kiss but it spoke volumes.

Santana got up and stretched again. Her shirt coming up and exposing her black panties and midriff. How in the hell did he get such an amazing girl, he thought to himself. "Where are you going? Come back to bed, you were so warm" Brett whined. Santana looked over at her boyfriend. She loved being able to say that. Her boyfriend was giving her the puppy dog face. "I have to go to work," she groaned.

Santana smiled at him one more time before leaving the room and going to the bathroom. She looked in the mirror and noticed her face was a mess. Santana spent almost a half-hour trying to get herself to look more presentable. Luckily her hair wasn't too bad so she just threw it into a low bun. Once she was done, she went back into her room. Brett was still wrapped in her comforter. The only difference was that instead of hugging her, he was now hugging her pillow.

Santana did her make-up, light and appropriate but enough to conceal her blotchy face. Finally, she didn't look like she was crying all night. San walked over to her closet. She pulled on some tight black dress pants first. Then pulled off her t-shirt and put on a bra, then finally put on a white swiss dot blouse. Santana slipped on her black heels. Santana looked in her full-length mirror, Less than an hour ago, she looked like shit now she looks pretty great. Even Santana was impressed with herself.

She turned around and caught those beautiful blues gazing at her. Santana will never get enough of the way Brett looks at her. When Bash would look at her, it was like he was always undressing her. In fact, that is how she normally felt every time a guy looked her way. But when Brett looked at her, it was like she was the only girl in the room. She truly felt beautiful and strong around him.

Brett sat up with his back against her headboard. The blanket fell to his waist so Santana could see his chiseled chest. "You're drooling," he said, pulling her gaze back up. "Shut up, I'm allowed to check out my boyfriend," she said, sticking her tongue out making him laugh.

Santana walked over and sat on her bed. Brett looked at her seriously, "Are you sure you're okay?" he asked. Santana thought for a second before intertwining their hands. "No. I won't lie when I think about it I want to cry again but I will be okay," she admitted to him. Brett leaned forward and kissed her. "All I can ask is for you to be honest. I will try everything to make sure it will be okay" he said. San nodded, "I know you will," she said.

"Let me take you out tonight," Brett said. "I thought I was supposed to plan the next date?" she smirked. "Fine then take us out tonight," he said with a chuckle. "Only if you let me pay," Santana said. "Yeah, you can try," he scoffed. Santana rolled her eyes, "I'll call you later" she said, giving him one last kiss before leaving.

Brett laid there for a while, maybe even drifting to sleep until he heard a commotion from out in the common room. Brett wasn't going to get up but someone started knocking at San's door. "Um come in," Brett said. Feeling weird that he was acting like this was his room. Brett was expecting Quinn to open the door but it was Puck. He looked around confused, "Where is San?" Puck asked. "Went to work, Q?" Brett asked. "Work, want to get food?" Puck asked. "Yeah sure just give me a minute to get dressed," Brett replied before Puck left to get ready himself.

Brett and Puck made their way to a little diner down the street and took a seat in a booth. "So last night was interesting," Puck said, sipping his coffee. "It was more than interesting, basically pretty atrocious," Brett said laughing. "I am sorry that you had to see all that but I did warn you that I did not get along with Russell" Brett added. "You have every right to hate him and now I do too," Puck said. "He is a very hatable man, I couldn't believe half the things that were coming out of his mouth," he said. "He was coming after all of us last night, even Quinn" Puck pointed out.

"That shocked me. Like I knew he would come at me and you but normally he drew the line at Quinn. I also didn't think that he would talk down to Santana especially since Quinn said he liked her." Brett said. "The guy is a disgusting asshole and I have to say, you really held your own last night. I would have punched him right when he walked in." Puck said. "That's the thing, I wanted to so bad but I didn't want to stoop to his level. Like don't get me wrong I would punch him if it came to it but at that moment I wanted to prove that I wasn't like him" Brett explained. "I get that and I respect it," Puck said, sipping his coffee slowly.

Brett could tell that Puck desperately wanted to know more. It took a lot to talk about his past and Puck now knows about it, which means he is probably going to be curious. "What do you want to know?" Brett asked. Puck looked a little taken back, "I don't" he began to say but Brett cut him off. "I know you are wondering things and I would rather just get it out in the open especially since you know some of it," Brett said.

"So Russell just made you leave and then lied to Quinn about where you went?" Puck asked. Brett nodded, "He was pissed that I ruined his idea of a perfect family and found a reason to get rid of me. I didn't know what he told Quinn but I assumed he never told her the truth since it would make him look bad." Brett explained. "Did he always hit you?" Puck asked. "It started more with the emotional digs and then it progressed to physical," Brett said. "How did your mom just do nothing about it?" he asked another question. "That is a question I asked myself a lot. I still don't really know the answer but I think she was just in denial and scared of Russell." Brett said. "That is awful," Puck said, digging into his food.

"I know I seem pretty open about this but I would appreciate it if you just kept all this between us. I don't really want the entire group to know about this part of my past" Brett asked. "Absolutely, I will not say anything and I won't treat you any differently. You are still the badass soldier who's part of this group now" Puck said smiling. Brett smiled, that meant so much to him. One of his fears was always that people were going to look at him differently, as weak. Hearing Puck say this meant more to Brett than Puck would ever know. "Thanks, dude," Brett said.

They continued to eat their food. "So how was Santana last night?" Puck asked. Brett shook his head, "She was upset, I guess Russell said something to her about me and it really got to her" Brett said. "Oh yeah, I had a front-row seat to the Snix show. I thought she was going to hit him," Puck explained. "What the hell happened?" Brett asked. "We were leaving to go and find you and he called her name. Then he basically said that you were not good enough for her and that you would leave her and probably just die overseas. He told her that she was better off getting back together with Bash." Puck said. "Oh, shit" Brett mumbled. "Yup, but don't worry she held her own and bitched him out." Puck said with a chuckle. "I am glad I wasn't there, if I was I would have really lost my cool" Brett said.

Brett's phone signaled that he had a message.

From Quinnie: Mom wants to meet for dinner, you want to come?

To Quinnie: Not really, have fun

"Quinn's meeting with my mom for dinner," Brett said. "Are you going to go?" Puck asked. Brett shook his head, "No. I have had enough shit going on in the last 24 hours. I think if I went I would say things that I would regret" Brett explained. "That makes sense," Puck said. "Plus I am going out with Santana tonight and I don't want my mood ruined. Especially since this is the first date we are going on since being official" Brett explained. Puck nodded and then stopped abruptly. His eyes went big as he looked at Brett. "What the fuck did you just say?" he asked. "I don't want my mood ruined," Brett repeated, confused. "No, after that" Puck said. "This is the first date Santana and I are going on since being official," Brett said. Puck pointed at him, " when the hell did you two become official?" he asked, smiling.

"Last night, I couldn't wait any longer," Brett explained, smiling big. "I am so happy for you and Satan. Mercedes is going to be so happy" Puck said. Brett laughed.

Once they finished their food, Puck and Brett decided to go for a quick workout. They went a few rounds in the ring. Of course, Brett won, there was no way that Puck was going to beat him. Once they were done, Brett headed home to get ready for his date. He took his time taking a shower and trimming his beard. Brett pulled on some nice dark-washed jeans with a grey shirt and his leather jacket that Santana loves.

Brett decided to take a walk down the street to get some flowers. He walked into a local mom-and-pop flower shop. There was a cute little old woman who looked to be about 100 years old, sitting behind the counter. "Hi sweetie, what brings you in today?" she asked him. "I am taking my girlfriend out tonight so I need some flowers," Brett replied nicely. The woman grinned, "I have just the flowers." she said, getting up from her stool. The women waved at Brett to follow her so he did.

She pulled some red roses and white lilies together to form a beautiful bouquet. "My wonderful late husband gave me this exact combination on our first date, she is going to love it" the woman explained. She handed the bouquet to Brett. They looked beautiful. "This looks amazing….." he said looking at her. "Virginia but you can call me Ginny" the woman answered. "Well Ginny it was a pleasure to meet you, my name is Brett," he said, smiling.

They made their way to the counter. "You remind me so much of my son! Now tell me who is the lucky lady?" she asked. "Her name is Santana and I am the lucky one," Brett said with a big grin. "I can tell that you are just smitten," Ginny said. "I definitely am, how much do I owe you, Miss. Ginny?" he asked. "Oh sweetie this is on me as long as you come back and tell me what she thinks," The woman said smiling. "Absolutely not, take this" Brett said handing her a 100 dollar bill. "This is too much," Ginny said, trying to hand it back. "You keep it," Brett said, flashing a million-dollar smile. "I will only take it if you bring that lucky girl back here," Ginny said. "You have yourself a deal," Brett said. Ginny walked around the counter and gave Brett a big hug. Ginny pulled away and looked up at Brett, "My son passed away and all I ever wanted was to see him happy and in love" She explained.

"I am so sorry Ginny," Brett said. "It is okay, I had 25 amazing years with him. I just love to see true love so you better bring her back mister" Ginny said. Brett couldn't believe how positive Ginny was even though she lost her son and husband. "I promise I will bring Santana back," He said. Ginny gave him one last hug, "Good Luck tonight sweetheart" She yelled down the busy New York City street. Brett waved to her and continued on his way.

With Quinn off to dinner with his mom, Brett sat waiting for Santana to come home. The sun started going down and Santana still hasn't come home. Brett grabbed his phone and hit her contact. After a few rings, she picked up.

Santana- Brett I am so sorry!

Brett- Hey don't worry about it, I just wanted to make sure everything was okay.

Santana- Today has been so hectic!

Brett- Do you still want to go to dinner?

Santana- I want to go so bad, I am starving but I can't. I have so much to do and I am probably going to be here most of the night. I am so sorry Brett.

Brett- Tana things happen and your work is important. I am not mad at all.

Santana- Thank you so much, I'll see you later.

Brett- Please text me when you leave the office

Santana- I will, night (Hangs up)

Brett put down his phone and stared at the flowers. He was disappointed but he wasn't mad at Santana. She has a very important job and Brett understood that. As much as he wanted to go out tonight he needs to support her which means letting her stay at work. Brett sat there trying to figure out what to do next when he got an idea. Brett grabbed his phone and called Puck. Once Puck told him what he needed, Brett hung up and called somewhere else. Once that was done he grabbed a bag. He filled the bag with some plates, silverware, napkins, and sparkling water. Brett tossed it over his shoulder, grabbed the flowers, and made his way out of the apartment.

He stopped at their favorite Chinese place to grab the take-out and made his way to Santana's office. He didn't know where it was which is why he called Puck earlier. Once he found the building, Brett realized he didn't think this through. How was he going to get into the building? Brett stood there for a moment. He didn't want to call Santana, he wanted to surprise her but he might need to call her, to get into the building. Since it was late he figured that there wasn't a person at the front desk to buzz him into the building. As he was about to call her, the door to the office opened and someone he knew came out. "Brett? Does Santana know you are here?" Sugar asked, confused. "Actually no, I wanted to surprise her," he said. "Awww that's so cute! She is so stressed just as a warning" Sugar said, laughing. Sugar held the door open, "take the elevator up to the 10th floor, her office is the last one on the right. Good luck" She said, winking.

Brett just shook his head and went in. He followed her directions and found a large oak door with a plaque on it, "ADA Santana Lopez". Brett knocked. He could hear her groan from the other side, "Sugar, you literally just left. What the hell could you have forgotten" Santana yelled.

Brett opened the door slowly. Santana was looking down at the files that were littering her desk. Her office was beautiful. There was a large mahogany desk, behind it were plaques and a bunch of framed awards and certificates. On the other side were a grey couch and grey chairs with a coffee table in between. In the middle of the room was a large window with large bookcases surrounding it, filled with books. The decor screamed Santana.

"Sorry to disappoint but I am not Sugar," Brett said, closing the door. Santana's head shot up, "what are you doing here?" she asked, getting up. "Well you couldn't come to dinner so I brought dinner to you and these are for you," Brett said presenting her with the flowers Ginny helped pick out. Santana was shocked, everyday this guy surprises her again and again. Her ex would have never done this. Bash would have just complained that her job was inconveniencing him.

Santana grabbed the flowers and smelled them, "They are beautiful, thank you" she said. "I hope Chinese is okay with you," Brett said placing the bags on the coffee table. Santana was speechless. Brett pulled out the plates and silverware while Santana placed the flowers in a vase on her desk. He poured the sparkling water into the wine glasses he packed. Brett was making sure he pulled out all the stops for this impromptu office date. Once everything was set up Brett turned to Santana, "Is this okay?" he asked since she hasn't really said anything. Santana grabbed the lapels of his jacket and pulled him close, "this is perfect" she whispered. Santana got on her tippy toes and captured his lips. He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her flush against him. Santana's stomach growled making Brett laugh. "Shut up, I had to skip lunch," San said, pushing him. "Come on let's eat," Brett said, motioning for her to sit.

They both sat on the couch and helped themselves to the food. Santana took a big bite and moaned, "this is exactly what I needed" she admitted. "Then I am glad I did it," he said smiling. "You always pull out all the stops," she said. "You deserve it," Brett said, shrugging his shoulders. Santana smiled at him, this guy is amazing.

"So I met a girl today," Brett said. Santana looked at him, "You met a girl?" she asked. Brett nodded, "she was so cute and even helped me pick out your flowers," he said grinning. Brett could tell that Santana was getting jealous. "She also wants to meet you," Brett added. "What the hell. Are you trying to get me to punch someone?" San said. "Relax, I am just playing you. Well, kinda there was a girl." Brett said. "Who?" Santana asked. "This cute old woman named Ginny. She told me she loves making young couples happy and I told her I would bring you to meet her" He explained. Santana smacked him, "why couldn't you have started with telling me that it was an old woman?" she said. "Because then I wouldn't have seen you jealous which I have to say is pretty hot," He said, smirking. Santana rolled her eyes.

They continued to eat and enjoy each other's company. "So I have been wondering about something," Tana said. "What are you wondering about?" Brett asked. "I want to know about your past relationships, it's only fair since you know all about my ex," San said. Brett laughed, "what do you want to know?" he asked. "Everything," she said.

"Well I would say my most serious relationship was with a girl named Katie, we met in high school and started dating our senior year. She was probably my best friend at the time" Brett said. "How long were you together?" Santana asked. "Almost 5 years," he said. "Shit, that's a long time. What happened?" she asked. "Well as you know I joined the military and she went off to college. I tried to talk to her as much as I could and even surprised her a few times when I could get leave from basic training. I thought we were great and then I was deployed. I was gone for a while and once I got home, I went to surprise her and found her in bed with another guy" Brett explained. Santana was shocked, "are you fucking kidding me?" she asked in disbelief. Brett shook his head, "she was cheating on me basically the entire time I was deployed. After that, I didn't see the need to put myself out there especially since I was going to be deployed again. I didn't want another girl to cheat on me while I was away so after that it was just casual hookups" he said

"Do you think you would have gotten married to her?" she asked. Brett was not expecting her to ask that. "I um, I," he said, stuttering. "Don't get all nervous on me now, nothing you say will get you in trouble" Santana said laughing. Brett thought for a second, "Fine, at one point in my life that's what I saw." Brett explained. "I have to say I am glad she cheated on you," she said. Brett raised his eyebrows, "why is that?" he asked. "Because now I get you, bitch doesn't know what she lost," San said. Brett laughed "in the moment I was so upset but boy would I rather be here. Actually want to hear something pretty petty" Brett said. "Absolutely, I am the Queen of petty" San said. "I had bought an engagement ring and when I found her in bed with the other guy, I threw the engagement ring at them," Brett said. Santana started dying laughing, "that is hilarious! What did she do?" she asked. "Katie started crying and then tried to get dressed. The guy just covered his dick and looked terrified of me. Which makes sense because I could have easily kicked his ass but I just left and changed my phone number. I've never seen her since" Brett explained. "That is insane, no wonder you never had another relationship," San said.

"That is until you came along," he said with a smile. "Is that a good thing?" she asked. "It's a great thing," Brett said.
