Chapter 16: The Feud Between Tribes
Location: Earth Kingdom
The Gaang was ever so closely near the North Pole and yet so far. The Earth Kingdom was at its dry season, Sokka and Katara were setting up the camp with Katara carrying the firewood and Sokka were building the tent. Ricky and Aang went to get some food not far from the camp.
Katara looks at Sokka building was okay until she notices something's missing.
"Uh Sokka, what about the tarp?" she asks.
Sokka looks at her before snapping his fingers. "Oh right, thanks Katara."
He grabs the unwrap tarp and threw it inside the tent. Katara looks at him with confusion.
"Uh Sokka, the tarp is supposed to go on top of the tent," she said.
"You may be right about that, but since it's the dry season, we don't need it" he explains "Plus it makes a good blanket."
"But what if it does rain?"
"What if it doesn't rain?"
"Oh my Spirits, you're irritating!"
"Speak for yourself, the firewood looks pathetic!"
"Fine if you don't like my firewood-" Katara says angrily throwing the firewood at Sokka.
Sokka defends himself from the firewood, glaring at his sister.
"Well, if you don't like how I do the tent-" he yells, pulling the tent making it collapse on itself.
Ricky and Aang came together with some fruits and nuts only to see the tent not set up.
"Uh what happen to the tent?" Aang asks.
"Why don't you Miss Know-It-All, Queen of the Sticks." Sokka sneers.
"And the firewood?"
"Ask Mr. Lazy Bum, King of the Tents!" Katara yells throwing the stick at Sokka.
"Guys, can we please not argue." Ricky pleads.
"YOU STAY OUT OF THIS!" the two yells at him, causing him to flinch.
"Look, we don't need to throw out harsh words at each other. Why we just have you guys swap jobs?" Aang suggested.
The two didn't say anything to each other as they just nod in agreement and move away from each other. Aang places his hands onto his hips proudly.
"See, bringing peace is the day of the Avatar," he said with pride.
"Yeah, you sure know how to do it," Ricky grumbles.
Aang shot a glare at the black hair firebender.
"What does that supposed to mean?" Aang asks raising his eyebrow.
Ricky just shrugs, "Nothing."
The Gaang decided to finish packing and continue on their journey. On the way, they were standing on a cliff to see a giant canyon. The size of it was so breathtaking it made them stare at the wonderment of the beauty of the canyon.
"Here we are guys: The Great Divide," Aang says.
Katara and Ricky were in awe-inspired by the sight of the beauty. "Wow, this is beautiful!" Katara says whistling.
"Yeah, this reminds me of the Grand Canyon back at my world," Ricky says in awe.
"Yeah, well we need to go," Sokka says bluntly.
"Seriously Sokka, how can you not be in awe by this thing?" Katara asks pointing at the canyon.
"Well, we can surely see it once we get into the air," Sokka says.
"Smart-aleck," Ricky grumbles.
And just like that, he was then shoved to the ground and step on. He screams in pain as he felt the footsteps on his back and dust hitting his face. Katara and Aang gasp to see their black hair friend getting trampled like that.
"You guys better not get a tour guide, because I was here first." a voice sneer.
Ricky looks up to see a man with a long pointed goatee, a bun, and wearing a white and golden robe similar to a Chinese robe. He got up from the ground and dusting himself off from the ground.
"Are you okay Ricky?" Aang asks concernedly.
"Yeah", Ricky says sighing heavily, "I'm fine."
"Sir I think you need to apologize to our friend here," Katara says.
The man scoffs at the thought. "Well, I'm in a hurry to get a tour guide to get across this canyon for my tribe."
"Well, apologies accepted," Ricky says sarcastically.
"And for your information, the tour guide is more than just that, he's an earthbender. He's the only one to go in and out of this canyon and he's taking my tribe." He rants, oblivious of Sokka mocking him.
"Calm down, we knew you were next," Aang reassured.
"Well, you guys wouldn't be so calm when the Fire Nation burn down your town." the tribesman said with venom in his voice.
Katara gasps in surprise. "You're a refugee?!"
"Tell me something that I don't know." he sarcastically said.
Already, this tribesman was hated this guy's attitude and him in general. He just hopes that the rest of his tribes isn't as stuck up as he is. The Gaang and the tribesman heard footsteps coming behind them. They saw a large group of poorly dress groups, almost as if they were wearing animal skin like cavemen.
"Is that your tribe?" Katara asks.
The man looks at her with disgust. "Not in a million years! That is the Zhang Tribe. They're nothing but thieves to my people."
'Please for the love of God they aren't going to act like this douche bag here.' Ricky prays in his head.
"Hey Zhangs, I'm saving this for my people! So don't try to steal it from me!" the tribesman hollers.
A bulky woman with small twin tails spots the good dress man and starts giving him a smug grin.
"Where's the rest of your tribe? I bet they're still packing." said the woman.
The tribesman puffs out his chest and crossing his arms, holding his head high. "Yes they are and I'm here to hold a spot for them."
"I didn't know they do reservations." The woman said raising her eyebrow.
The man laughs loudly, "Well that's to be expected from the messy Zhang. So unorganized and ill-prepared."
"Dude, can you just shut up for just one second?!" Ricky growls rubbing her temples, "I'm starting to get migraines just from you."
"Yeah, listen to the little runt!" the Zhang Chief tease smacking Ricky in the back, causing him to fall to the ground.
Katara and Aang quickly help him up, dusting off the dirt. Ricky's eyes are already twitching, wanting the urge to attack them but couldn't with the airbender and waterbender pulling him away from doing so.
Just then, the ground shook as everyone look at a pile of rocks begin to float and flew towards the bottom of the canyon. The cause of the rocks fall was a somewhat overweight man wearing Earth Kingdom attire and had a white bushy mustache and a straw hat, similar to a Chinese hat.
"Sorry for the wait youngsters." the man said dusting the dirt off of his clothing. "Now, who's here to travel the canyon?"
"Um, they," Katara says pointing at the Zhang and the other tribesman. Again, he pushed himself from the Gaang, forcefully pushing Ricky causing him to growl, without saying sorry.
"I was here first! My tribe is coming right now," he said.
The guide strokes his mustache, "Well, I can't take anyone if they're not here."
"You hear that you Gan Jin slum! Looks like you have to wait till tomorrow!" The Zhang leader bellowing.
The white and gold-clad man bit his lips, trying to find an excuse so the Zhang wouldn't get across. But his eyesight caught something. "There they are! That's my tribe!" he points out.
Ricky and his friends turn around to see more white and gold-clad people walking gracefully like they're royalty. Ricky grits his teeth at the sight of them, he had nothing against with upper-class people, but he could tell already that they probably act the same way the tribesman behaved, only to make his hatred towards the Gan Jin even worse. And it only makes things worse with Zhang as well.
The Zhang leader twitches her eye and quickly glares at the tour guide. "You seriously not going let those spoiled brats Gan Jin to cross the canyon before us, are ya'?"
"Well…uh…" the tour guide said unknowingly.
"We have old people to get to the other side!" the tribesman argued.
"Sick people come first!" one of the Zhangs counter.
"If you guys weren't such slobs, maybe you wouldn't be sick!" an elderly man with white long beard said, presumably to be the leader.
"If you weren't so tidy, you wouldn't be so old!" the Zhang leader retorted.
'Aaaannnndddd, I'm losing my patience.' Ricky thought grimly.
He wasn't the aggressive type, but it doesn't mean he has a limit. Sure he could take on insults every day and not give a crap, but when it comes to about to enter a crossfire between two groups of people who are nothing but babies. THAT'S is where he crosses the line.
"Can you guys for once sharing the guide?" Ricky suggested.
"NO!" The leaders yelled at him. "I would rather get capture by the Fire Nation than being stuck with them!" they said in unison.
Ricky was now peeved, and he was going to give them a piece of his mind. If Aang hasn't beaten him to it.
"Okay here's the deal; You guys are going to share the guide while Appa is going to take both the elderly and the sick across the canyon!" Aang says.
Ricky looks at him in bewilderment, knowing that a feud between either two families or tribes is going to end in bloodshed… As long there isn't one single forbidden love in the mix and he would be fine. Forbidden love is the last thing he needs coming from the two tribes that act like five-year-olds.
"You want to do this?" Ricky asks the Air Nomad.
"Truth be told, I'm not sure." Aang responds nervously "But when have I ever been wrong?"
"It's the Avatar's job to bring peace, Ricky," Katara said.
"Yeah, well I probably wouldn't last five minutes if those people keep up the argument," he grumbled.
"Okay, now the bad news." the guide said, "You can't bring any food along the canyon. It attracts… dangerous predators."
Everyone, including Ricky, begins to yell in protest at the earthbender.
"Do you want to get across the canyon or not?" the guide scolds before bends an earth pillar underneath his feet, "Either you starve or die. Now eat all yer' food or it goes in the garbage."
No one argues as both tribes begin eating their food in their respective way. Aang and Katara help the sick and elderly onto Appa. Aang hugs his six-legged bison farewell. "Take good care of these people okay buddy?"
Appa bellows before taking off from the ground and flew away. Aang and his friends begin walking next to the guide with the two tribes behind them below them. The guide continues to bend a path in front of them.
"Nice bending." Aang compliments.
"Comes with more than just bending kid, folks want information as well." the guide told him, "Fun fact, many believed that this canyon was built by the earth spirits because they were angry at the farmers for not giving them proper sacrifices."
Katara and Sokka gulp in fear, looking eerily at the cliffs in watch for avalanches. The guide chuckles at the Water Tribe kids' reaction. "Hope you guys brought some sacrifices!" he jokes.
They eventually made it at the bottom, with everyone already off the trail as they see nothing but the canyon towering over them and desert.
"Alright everyone, stand back." the guide said.
Everyone obliged as the middle-aged earthbender bends a boulder and threw at the stairs, causing it to collapse, destroying it completely.
"Wait, why'd you did that?" Aang asks.
"Well it's simple young lad; we don't any Fire Nations to get across the canyon now do we?" he said.
The Gaang laughs nervously looking at each other, knowing that there's already a firebender within the group. If Ricky hasn't stood out. It was then a strange creature appeared out of nowhere and attack the earthbender. It thrashes its head before, Aang swung his staff towards the beast and a gust of wind made contact with the wingless mosquito-like beast.
"We gotta help him!" Sokka yells throwing his boomerang at the beast.
The beast drops the guide and began to run towards Sokka.
"Now someone's gotta help me!" Sokka said running away.
Katara and Ricky came to the Water Tribe boy's aid and attack the creature. Katara bends the water out of her pouch and whips it at the monster's face while Ricky slides underneath the beast and shot fire at its underbelly. The beast screech in pain and begin to run away from the group. Everyone didn't say a word as they wait for the beast was out of sight.
Ricky looks at the two tribes, hoping that they didn't see him firebend, and luckily they didn't.
"WHAT THE HECK IS THAT THING?!" Ricky yells.
"That's a Canyon Crawler." the guide said, "No doubt that there'll be more of 'em."
He tries to get up but he groans in pain, causing Katara to run towards him.
"Your arms! They're broken!"
"Wait, if he can't bend. Then that means…" Ricky thought out loud but couldn't finish the sentence.
"We're stuck here." Aang finished.
"It's the Zhangs!" the Gan Jin leader accuses pointing his finger at the Zhang tribe. "They brought food here and now we're all going to die!"
If anyone who brought food here is you Gan Jin freaks!" the Zhang leader argues.
The two tribes begin arguing over who brought food to the canyon only to ignore Aang's plead. They continue to argue only being oblivious at the rest of the world. Ricky's vein begins to pop out of his head and clench his fists as the arguing between them was getting worse.
And he's not getting any of that.
"EVERYONE, SHUT THE HELL UP!" Ricky roars angrily.
Everyone flinches at the dark brown, the sudden outburst coming from the boy seems to snap them back to reality. Aang, Katara, and Sokka were shocked to see their firebender friend's anger and it scares them gravely. It reminds him of his last outburst in Kyoshi Island.
"I'm getting this close of killing you guys all because you are nothing but whining middle school brats! So here's the deal; we'll split up. Zhangs will go to the right and the Gan Jin will go to the left. If you got a problem, then say it right in my face!" Ricky told them aggressively.
No one said a word, not knowing how to process, only listening to the boy's orders. Aang wasn't going to take any chances to talk to Ricky as of now, seeing his anger burst for the second time, just makes him uncomfortable.
"Um, Katara you go with the Gan Jin tribe. Sokka, go with the Zhang tribe. I want to know why they hate each other." Aang says.
The two Water Tribe kids nod their heads as they begin to went their separate ways as they follow the tribes. Aang, Ricky, and the guide were the only ones who were left behind. Ricky rubs his temples from his sudden burst and it was taking a toll on him. He looks at the Air Nomad kid and apologetically smiles at him.
"Sorry about that. I just need to get it out of my chest." Ricky apologizes.
"That's okay." Aang says, "It's still shocking to see you mad."
Ricky sighs in relief and looks back at where the tribes have separated themselves from each other. Only praying to whatever divine spirit of this world is watching over them.
"I just hope they don't do something stupid," he said to himself.
It's already nightfall and Aang, Ricky and the guide are sitting near the fireplace thanks to Ricky's firebending. Of course secretly so the guide doesn't look suspicious. Aang looks out to see two fires from the distance, seeing the two tribes were having fun with their people. Aang smiles to see that they seem to be at peace for all the while.
Ricky, however; wasn't so pleased. He stares up into space to see the night sky to see nothing but beautiful stars and faintly see the galaxy behind the numerous stars. He couldn't feel but homesick by the look of the stars, hoping one of the constellations is recognizable to the ones back at home.
"The stars are sure beautiful tonight," Ricky said to no one in particular.
"It sure is." the guide responds. "It's one of the advantages of being a guide of this canyon. The night sky is one of the most beautiful things in the world."
"Yeah." Aang agrees.
There was a moment of silence until they heard a yawn coming from the dark brown boy. "Well, I'm going to bed," he said tiredly.
"Yeah, we should get some sleep. We need to figure a way out of this canyon." Aang said with the same tone of tiresome in his voice.
Momo flew down toward to Ricky and begin to circle himself around like a cat before lying down. Aang chuckles at the sight, seeing that the flying lemur is becoming fond of Ricky's presence. He lay down and look up into the stars before closing his eyes and wait for the dreams to swept him away from reality.
Location: Los Angeles, California
It was still quiet as usual for at least three weeks till now and no one seems to be themselves today. Anna looks out the window and sees nothing but the rain beating down on the window. She sighs heavily, knowing that if the situation were different she wouldn't mind the rain. She has stopped texting and visiting her Facebook account for quite some time, though she does get some texts from some other friends she has asking her if she was alright or is everything all right. She was a bit happy to hear her friends worried about her safety, but it didn't bring her out of her depression of her close friend's death.
"Honey, you still there?" a male voice asks, knocking out at her door.
"Yeah dad, I'm here," Anna recalls.
The door slowly opens to reveal a tall man with fair skin, ginger short hair, and beard, wearing some business clothes. He walks towards his daughter and sat down to her. He sat next to her without saying a word and look out the window. There was nothing but the pounding of rain on the windows, roofs, sidewalks, whatever came across was the only sound they could hear, other than their heartbeat.
"It's sure doesn't want to go away, huh?" he said trying to lighten the mood.
"Yeah, Ricky would've loved the rain," Anna answers laughing lightly before going back to her depressing state.
Her father took notice of the change, wrap his arm around her shoulder, and brought her to him. He rests his head onto hers, stroking her shoulder hoping to ease her depression.
"Is Elsa alright?" Anna finally asks.
He didn't respond, only looking out of the window. "She's fine. I check on her a few minutes ago and she said that Nikki and Susan are coming to see you guys."
The redhead didn't say anything as she continues to look at the pouring rain, beginning to tear up and shoving her face to her father's chest. Her father shushes her comfortably to ease his young daughter's crying.
"I want to see him again." Anna whimpered between tears.
"It's alright, we'll see him again. One day." Is all he could say.
Not knowing that the two were eavesdropping by Elsa. She heard her sister crying and her father comforting her younger sister. She couldn't help but cry softly, only wishing to see Ricky just as much as Anna does.
'Ricky, why did you leave us?' Elsa thought to herself. 'I miss you.'
Location: Great Divide, Earth Kingdom
"Alright everyone, we're almost to the end." the guide hollers out.
No one said a thing as they continue to trek through the canyon. Aang jumps from a tall rock and walks towards to his friends, Katara and Sokka were the last ones to come out of the rocks.
"So guys, did you get any information?" Aang asks curiously.
"Yeah, I learned that the Zhangs wronged the Gan Jin," Katara says seriously.
Aang looks at his waterbender friend confusingly. "What are you talking about?"
Sokka butts in the conversation. "Yeah, the Zhangs were wrongfully accused of 'stealing' the orb when he was trying to return it to the Gan Jin."
"Ugh, what's the matter this time?" Ricky said, still tired from his rough sleep on the ground.
"It's nothing, Ricky." Katara said reassuringly "Just that the Zhangs are thieves."
"They're not thieves Katara," Sokka argues.
"Tell that to the Gan Jin." she sneers.
"Oh my God; please tell me you guys aren't picking sides." Ricky groans.
"What do you know about this oh Blue Dragon?" Sokka mockingly asks.
"Oh don't you pull that shtick on me Pony-Man. I'm not going to waste my time arguing over stupid reasons." Ricky growls.
"Ricky, you weren't there when Gan Jin told me about their history with the Zhangs," Katara said sternly.
"And vice-versa," Sokka added.
"I know, but I don't care. Can we just at least get through the canyon without me blowing my top off?" the dark brunette boy pleaded.
"I agree with Ricky" Aang spoke up, "I don't want another incident like that happening."
The two didn't answer, only nod at their terms and begin walking towards the two tribes and the guide. They finally reach the end of the canyon, with only no way to get to the top.
"Great, now what?" Ricky asks to no one in particular.
"Why don't the Zhangs climb up with their dirty fingers." the Gan Jin leader said rudely.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I forgot that unclipped nails will sentence you to a twenty-year in prison." the Zhang leader mockingly said.
"Filthy thief!"
"Pompous fool!"
The two tribes begin to argue once more, causing Aang and Ricky to frown. But to make things worse; Katara and Sokka accompanied the tribes Aang assigned them to. Aang was about to yell, but that didn't prepare him when Ricky's eyes dilated into a rage and threw an azure fireball between the two tribes causing an explosion between them. They all look at the young teenager, whose eyes were filled with rage, annoyance, and disappointment altogether.
"I am sick and tired of you guys just arguing and not acting like Goddamn adults! I hope you guys will die horribly and I don't want to see you guys ever AGAIN!" Ricky roars.
He begins to walk away from the group, ignoring all pleads from his friends as their voices begin to fade away. His anger was nothing he appreciated and he rarely shows it back home. He knew that he wouldn't last a day without food or survive the canyon alone. He regains his emotions as he looks at his surroundings, he was far than he anticipated, only banging his head repeatedly.
"Stupid-stupid-stupid!" he said to himself, "You just left the only place to get out of this place and you just your ONLY friends on this God-forsaken place!"
That's when he hears a low hissing sound coming from behind, causing hairs to raise at the back of his neck and causing him to be stiff. He slowly turns around to see a Canyon Crawler drooling from its gaping maw with its sixteen red eyes. Ricky gulps in fear only not to see one, but a whole pack of them, surrounding him.
"Oh, crapʼ." Ricky curses.
The Canyon Crawlers screeches, causing Ricky to scream and begin running away from the wingless mosquito-like monsters.
Aang couldn't believe what he was seeing. The two tribes he tried to stop from killing each other, hid food all this time and he was angry.
"I can't believe you! You risk everyone's lives just because you can't live one day without a snack?! You're all terrible!" Aang yells until he eyes an egg custard, causing his stomach to growl. "Is that… An egg custard."
Just as the food fell to the ground, hissing and screeches filled the air and everyone sees a horde of Canyon Crawlers coming towards them.
"More crawlers?!" Katara yells.
"We couldn't handle one!" Sokka screams.
"They've come to eat me!" the guide screams.
The Crawlers began to lunge at the people, causing everyone to run like a flock of scared sheep. Aang begins shooting gust of wind at each of the monster that begins to pile up as more came after him. He looks to see Katara and Sokka fighting side by side, believing that they forgive each other and this made him smile. But his peaceful mind stopped abruptly and when a Canyon Crawler charges at him and knocks him down. The creature places its insect legs on Aang as it opens its drooling maw and screeches at the Avatar. Aang turns his head away from the creature as he could smell the rotten stench coming from its breath.
"AANG! NO!" Katara screams.
A burst of blue flames came out of nowhere and burned the creature to a crisp, screaming in agonizing pain. Aang took this opportunity and sent the burning creature off him quickly getting up from the ground. He turns around to see Ricky running and dodging the crawlers' attacks while speaking a foreign language repeatedly and doesn't know what he was saying, but that didn't matter. All that matters is that Ricky's alive. He lunges towards one of the crawlers as it leaped towards to firebender and swing his staff causing another gust of wind at the monster.
Ricky turns around to see the arrow-headed monk and smiles to see Aang. "Aang!"
"Ricky! Are you alright!" Aang asks both happily and concern.
"Aang, I'm sorry!" Ricky apologizes.
Aang looks at him with confusion. "Sorry for what, about the outburst? Because I already-"
"I'm sorry for bringing these crawlers to you! They surrounded me and all I can do is run!" he explains.
Aang 'oh' for a moment, only to realize that he needs to get out of here. Aang grabs Ricky and ran to the Water Tribe kids back-to-back. Katara smiles to see Ricky is alright, but she was too occupied with the insect-like creatures. Ricky kept on shooting fireball after fireball at the creatures, only to see more and more were coming. It seems inevitable until he saw a piece of food lying on the ground and an idea came. He reaches for the food and broke away from the Gaang and waves it at one of the Canyon Crawlers.
"Hey, bug-eyes!" Ricky hollers.
The crawler hisses and looks at the food, hypnotizing at the smell of it.
"What is he doing?!" the Gan Jin leader questions Ricky's actions. "Has he gone insane?!"
Aang didn't know what Ricky was doing, but he decided to intervene in the creature's attack. He grabs the nearest bag and jumps into the air as the crawler lunge towards Ricky. Aang lands on its back and places the bag onto its mouth and tied it.
"Everyone does what we did!" Aang told everyone.
Everyone did exactly what the two boys did and begin grabbing foods and bags to capture the crawlers one by one. Everyone got onto the creatures' backs, riding it like they were in a rodeo.
"Let's get out of this hellhole!" Ricky cheers.
He jumps onto the crawler's back with Aang as everyone led the creatures to the rocky wall and they begin climbing up. They reach to the top and got off the monsters, getting away from them as far away as possible. Ricky and Aang were the last ones to get off as Ricky grabs the last bag of food and threw it towards the canyon, making the creatures following the pursuit. Ricky begins to breathe heavily from all the running and hunger.
"W-We made it," he said between breaths.
"Well I'll a platypus bear's uncle, I didn't know the Gan Jin can get their hands dirty!" the Zhang leader says.
"And who knew that the Zhangs can be precise to a pinch." the Gan Jin responds.
The two leaders smile for a moment, making Aang happy.
"It's a shame we can't rewrite history." the Gan Jin leader says grimly as he pulled out his swords.
"OH COME ON!" Ricky yells. "Even after all of that, you guys still can't get along?!"
"Shut up firebender!" the gladiator female said, "You don't know what it's like to be accused by these pompous fools for unjustly imprisoning Wei Jin!"
"It's his fault for attacking Jen Wei!" the old man leader scolded.
"Am I the only one who thinks that they probably have the same name just switched?" Ricky said deadpanned.
"Wait a minute, Jen Wei… Wei Jin… I know those guys!" Aang said.
"Yes, yes we are all aware of the story." The white beard man said.
Aang shook his head, "No, I mean I know them. I may not look like it, but I'm hundred-twelve years old."
"It's true." Ricky agrees.
"You see Jen Wei and Wei Jen weren't enemies, but brothers. Twins to be precise. And the story about it: it was just a game. And the sacred orb was just a ball. Also, the Eastern and Western Gates were just goals. Jen Wei was running towards the goal, but he tripped and fumbled. Wei Jen didn't steal the ball, he went to return the ball to the goal, but he was out of bounds and was sent to the penalty box. And it wasn't for twenty years, it was two minutes. It was all just a game." Aang explains.
"You mean to tell us that the sacred orb was just a ball?" the Zhang leader said bewildered.
"Yep."
"But what about our tribes' redemption ritual?" the Gan Jin leader asks.
"That's the name of the game: Redemption. Every time one of them reaches a goal they yell, "REDEMPTION"! I mean yeah, Jen Wei was a neat freak and Wei Jen was indeed sloppy, I'll give them that, but they loved each other no matter what."
The two leaders were quiet for a minute, thinking very hard about what the Avatar has said. For all these years and none of them realize that it.
"I guess… we should forget about that past then." the barbaric woman said calmly.
"And look to the future." the old man said.
The two smile once again and bow down to each other before they saw a giant six-legged creature coming down behind them. Appa landed safely with the elderly and the sick got off of the flying bison. Aang walks towards his pet bison, hugging him.
"It's good to see you, buddy," Aang said with a smile.
Everyone gave their thanks to the Avatar and his friends as they begin to their journey together.
"Let's travel to Ba Sing Se together as one." the two leaders said together causing the tribes to cheer in unison.
"Hey, wait for me! I'm sick of this place!" the guide said following the two tribes.
Aang, Ricky, Katara, and Sokka watch as the tribes left peacefully.
"I'm glad there was no 'forbidden love' between those two tribes or else I would've hated them ten times fold," Ricky said jokingly.
"What's wrong with forbidden love?" Katara asks teasingly.
"For one: its cliché. And two: if there was, they would've committed suicide since they can't be together."
"Where did you get that idea?" Sokka questions.
"An old tragic play from my world. I've ALWAYS hated it," he told them.
"Well, I'm just glad that Aang knew about Jen Wei and Wei Jen." Sokka sighs.
"Yep.," he said smiling.
Ricky looks at him, before smiling devilishly. "You lied about the whole thing didn't you?"
Aang looks at him surprisingly before laughing. "Yeah, I did."
Katara gasps before giving off a devilish admiration at Aang's fib. "Aang, no you didn't just do that. That's terrible!"
"Well, what's done is done. Now, where's that egg custard? I'm starving!" Aang said with his stomach growling.
"Oh, you mean this?" Ricky asks, pulling a bag with an egg custard out of it.
Aang's eyes widen as his mouth drools from. "Ricky, please give it to me."
Ricky looks at the dessert, before smiles sinisterly. He took a big bite at custard causing Aang to gasps.
"Hey! Give me that custard!" Aang yells as he chases Ricky.
"Try and catch me, Airhead!" Ricky laughs running away.
Katara and Sokka laugh as the two boys started running as the sun begins to set behind the canyon.
