Mercedes walked over to the door and opened it quickly. She was in mid-laugh that stopped immediately when she saw who was behind the door. Two uniformed men stood tall, their eyes showed nothing but sadness behind them. "Hello ma'am, we are looking for Quinn Fabray and Santana Lopez," one of the men said. Mercedes swallowed the know that formed in the back of her throat. "Quinn is right in here, what is this about?" Mercedes asked. "I am very sorry but we need to speak to one of them first" he replied. Mercedes nodded and stepped aside to let the men inside.

"Puck" Mercedes yelled out and she led the men into the living room. Puck turned and his face immediately went pale. Quinn, Puck, and Finn were all sitting in the living room, the smell of lasagna in the air.

"We are very sorry to interrupt your evening. We are looking for Quinn Fabray and Santana Lopez" One of the uniformed men said again. Quinn felt goosebumps overtake her entire body. "I am Quinn Fabray," she said. "Santana isn't here" Puck added. The men nodded before starting to talk again. "The commandant of the Marine Corps has entrusted me to express his deep regret that your brother, Master Sergeant Brett Pierce has been declared missing in action. The commandant extends his deepest sympathy to you and your family at this time" he said. Mercedes covered her mouth with her hand. Finn looked over at Quinn and Puck. Puck reached out and covered Quinn's hand with his own.

"What do you mean he is missing?" Quinn asked. "I am sorry ma'am but we cannot disclose the details of the incident," an officer said. "So there was an incident?" she asked again. You could hear the frustration in her voice. "Again ma'am we cannot" he began to say but Quinn cut him off. "You already said that. What the hell can you tell us because you haven't really given us any answers" She yelled. Puck just rubbed her hand. The older of the two officers who obviously has done this more decided to speak up, "I am sorry Ms. Fabray. Since your brother was in special operation we are limited on the information that we were told" he said. "What information were you told because the only thing you said was that he was missing? How long? Where was he? What are you doing to find him?" Quinn asked, standing up. Mercedes got up also, "Quinn," she said, reaching out to her. Quinn pulled away, "No they know more than they are letting on and they are choosing not to tell me," Quinn said. "Quinn babe, they can't tell you everything. I bet they do not even know the answers" Puck said, trying to calm her down.

"My brother is missing Puck. I need to know if they are looking for him!" Quinn yelled. "Please tell me you are going to find him, please" She begged the officers. The tears were flowing down Quinn's face. She went from angry to sad in a second. "Quinn, they are looking for him," Finn said. "I need to hear it from them," She said, staring at the officer. "I assure you that all efforts that the marine corps have are being put into finding Master Sergeant Pierce," he said. "How long has he been missing?" Quinn asked. "I am sorry I was not told," He said. Quinn groaned and just walked away. Mercedes followed her into Quinn's bedroom and shut the door.

"Do you think you could tell us of the location of Santana Lopez?" One of the officers asked. Puck and Finn looked at each other, both knowing that this was not going to go well. "She is at work," Finn said. "If you could tell us her place of work, then we can go and notify her of the situation," he said. Puck shook his head, "I am sorry but we need to tell her. She will not do well if it is coming from you" he said. The officer brought out a piece of paper, "I will need you to sign this indicating that you will inform the secondary next of kin" the officer explained. Puck quickly signed the paper. The men nodded, "again we are very sorry to be delivering this news. Please inform Ms. Fabray and Ms. Lopez that any ongoing information will be relayed in a timely manner" the officer said. Puck thanked them and led them out.

When he came back, Finn looked at him in disbelief. "What are we going to do?" he asked. "I have no idea," Puck said. Quinn then came bursting out of her room with her coat on. "Quinn stop, you are not going anywhere," Cedes said, coming out of the bedroom also. "What is going on?" Puck asked. "She is going to tell Santana," Mercedes said. Puck looked over at his girlfriend, she looked so upset. "Quinnie," Puck said. Quinn put her finger up, "no do not call me that. That is what Brett calls me" she said. "I'm sorry Q, I didn't mean to" Puck said, genuinely meaning it.

"But, I do not think it is a good idea to leave right now?" Puck said. "Well, I don't care what you think. Santana needs to know Puck. She is sitting at work right now thinking everything is okay when it is not!" Quinn yelled. "I will go get her," Puck said. Quinn's face softened. "You will?" she asked. Puck nodded, "Finn and I will go get Santana and bring her home. You stay here with Mercedes okay," he said. Quinn nodded. Puck led her over to the couch, making her sit down. He leaned over and kissed the top of her head. He made a motion to Finn to follow him while Mercedes pulled Quinn into a hug; her cries echoed in Puck's ears as he walked out the door.

"What is the plan when we get there?" Finn asked. Puck groaned loudly, "I have no idea. All I know is that this is not going to go well. She isn't stupid and is going to realize that something is up when the both of us show up at her work. All I am hoping is that she will at least let us get home before we have to tell her" Puck explained.

The guys walked into the office. The rows of desks were empty except for one person who was sitting outside of Santana's door. Puck recognized her from Santana's birthday party, it was her assistant Sugar. Puck locked eyes with her but before she could say anything Puck motioned for her to be quiet and to come over to him. That way they were farther from Santana's office door. Sugar could tell that something was up, she was trained by Santana so nothing can get by her easily. "I need you to cancel whatever Santana has tomorrow. I will call you tomorrow but she will be out for the time being." Puck explained. "Is everything okay?" Sugar asked. "Brett is missing somewhere in the middle east. I don't know the details but we came to grab Santana and bring her home" Puck explained. Sugar gasps, "Poor San. I'll stay here. Do what you need to do and I'll lock everything up so she doesn't worry about it. I will also handle the meeting that we have tomorrow" Sugar said. Puck thanked her and he and Finn walked to her office.

When the guys walked into the room, Santana was sitting at her desk. She was biting on a pen while she closely examined a file. Puck took a silent breath, trying to calm his nerves. The girl who is like a little sister to him is sitting right there. She is happily pregnant with the man she loves, working a job that was practically made for her. Santana had everything she ever wanted just waiting for her soldier to call her back. But here Puck is watching, the last minute of her happiness for god knows how long. Knowing that he had to break the news to her ultimately made Puck feel sick to his stomach. But he knew that she needed someone she trusted to tell her, which means he needed to be that person.

"Hey, San" Puck said. Santana's head snapped up. Confusion was plastered all over her face before a smile peaked out. "Puck, Finn; What are you guys doing here?" She asked. Puck opened his mouth and shut it again. He had no idea what to say at this moment. "We were just on our way back from the gym and decided to stop here on our way home. Thought you would want a ride home so you didn't need to walk" Finn explained. Puck nodded slowly, he is so glad Finn is here right now because Puck would have never thought of that. "You guys are going to my apartment?" Santana asked. Puck nodded, "yeah Quinn is making lasagna after all. The more the merrier," he said.

Santana looked between the two guys, something was up but she couldn't quite put her finger on it. "You guys go. Sugar and I have a few more things to finish up" San said. "But Quinn" Finn began to say but Santana cut him off. "I know, I know. Quinn wants to make sure I eat. Tell her I finished my lunch and the cookie, she and Mercedes snuck in. I will be home soon and I will be eating dinner. She can watch me if she doesn't believe me, ``she explained with a giggle. "It won't be as good later as it is right when it comes out of the oven. Just let us bring you home" Finn said. "The case will still be here tomorrow or the next day," Puck added.

"Come on you know you don't want to walk all the way home in those heels," Finn said, aiding the persuasion. Now she really knew something was going on. Neither of them would go through this much in trying to persuade her into coming home. "What is going on?" Santana asked. "Nothing," Puck said. "Absolutely nothing," Finn said at the same time. "You guys suck at this. You seem so sketchy, what the hell is happening?" Santana asked again. She has known these guys for years, if anyone can read their facial expressions it is her.

"We are not being sketchy," Puck replied. Santana studied them. "You don't even have a little bit of a smirk. You are always smirking. You, Finn, have that gassy infant look you get when you are hiding something or flirting, and I know you are not flirting with a pregnant woman. So spill" Santana said. The guys looked at each other before looking back at the Latina. "Did something happen to Quinn?" she asked. "No no," Finn said, "Quinn is okay," Puck said right after. "Then it's Brett," Santana said. Neither boy said anything which clued her in that she was right.

"What happened to Brett?" Santana asked. She stood up from her desk, her hand cradling her growing abdomen. "Santana, I really think we should go back to your apartment," Finn said, softly. "No, you can tell me right here," She said. Puck took a deep breath, he took one look at her abdomen before staring into her eyes. "Two people from the Marine Corps Casualty Assistance Program came by the apartment not too long ago. They were looking for you and Quinn. I guess Brett put you down as one of his next of kin" Puck explained. Santana tightened her hold on her belly. "What are you saying, Puck?" She asked, her voice cracking.

"Brett is missing Santana," Puck said. Santana heard him loud and clear but her mind wouldn't let her process it. "What?" she asked again, hoping that what she heard was wrong. "Brett went missing on his mission" Puck repeated. Santana started shaking her head, "no no no no" she repeated over and over. "San" Finn whispered, reaching out and placing his hand on her shoulder. Santana quickly pushed it off of her. "Brett can't be missing, he can't be. This is a mistake, it has to be a mistake" Santana said.

She walked over to her phone, grabbing it. She quickly hit Brett's number. The phone rang once and then connected with his voice mail. Santana hung up the phone and called back the number immediately. 'Santana he isn't going to answer" Finn said, sadness taking over his voice. Her phone connected with her boyfriend's voicemail again. "Hey it's Brett, I can't come to the phone right now so leave me a message and I might just call you back. 'MEOWW' Oh yeah Tubbs is here too, Bye!" Her soldier's voice said over the loudspeaker from his phone. Both Finn and Puck felt even worse hearing his voice again. BEEPPP. "Brett Baby, it's me, it's Tana. I need you to answer the phone…... Please answer the phone B." Santana begged into the phone. "Santana" Puck whispered as he walked closer to her.

"Pick up the phone baby, I need to hear your voice," Santana said again. "He isn't going to answer," Puck said. He reached over and slowly pulled the phone from her hand. Puck hung up the phone and handed it back to Finn. "He needs to answer Puck, we are having a baby" Santana whispered, her voice cracking at the end. "I know San, I know" Puck replied.

"No, no" Santana yelled, dropping to the ground. Puck just managed to get to the ground before her to break her fall. Santana fell into his chest, sobbing. Puck rubbed her back as she clutched to his t-shirt. "He is going to be found, Santana, I just know he is," Puck said. "I bet he is just taking the scenic route back to camp" Finn added, trying to make her laugh but it was to no avail. The Latina just continued to sob into his shirt. Neither of them knew what to do except to let Santana process this the way she wants to. They just gave her the second worse news imaginable, crying was definite.

Santana pulled her face from Puck's chest. This white shirt was not covered in mascara, bronzer, and lipstick. The makeup was streaking down San's face from the tears. "Where is he Puck, where was he last?" Santana asked. Puck shook his head, "I don't know Santana. They wouldn't tell us" he answered. "How long has he been missing? How long have I been checking my phone all while the military knew he was never going to call'' She hiccuped. "We don't know anything more than what Puck told you," Finn said. "What do you mean, how is that all we know?" Santana asked again. Puck sighed, "Brett is special ops, just because he is missing doesn't change the rules. We still are not allowed to know his whereabouts or in this case, the last place he was seen" Puck explained.

Santana couldn't help but feel similar to when Brett talked about being captive. She always pictured what she was doing while he was being tortured. It was a thought that still haunted her every now and again. Now she pictured everything she did the last few weeks. Finding out she was pregnant, telling everyone, and hearing the heartbeat for the first time. Was Brett missing the entire time? Was he actually dead but they just didn't have his body. All of these thoughts were racing inside Santana's mind. She started breathing really heavily. "San, San you need to slow down your breathing," Finn said. "You're hyperventilating, slow deep breaths" Puck said. Her breathing kept at a rapid pace.

Finn reached out and grabbed her hand, "the baby Santana. This is not good for the baby, you need to slow down your breathing or you are going to pass out" he said. The keyword that brought her back to reality was baby. The baby needed her, their baby needed her to hold it together. Santana took a deep breath and let it out shakily. "That's it San" Puck whispered. "For the baby" Santana muttered to herself. "Yes, that is it" Finn agreed. After a few breaths, Santana wasn't on the verge of passing out but that didn't change the fact that she didn't think she could stand.

"Santana, how can we help you?" Puck asked her. Santana looked down at her bump. Gosh, it was so little, but right now it was the only thing keeping her from completely falling apart if she didn't already. "I just want to go home," she hiccuped. The guys nodded. Both Finn and Puck stood up. Puck tried to help Santana up but when she got to her feet it was as if her legs were jelly. He had to hold her up or she was going to hit the floor again. "Santana, do you think you can walk to the car?" Puck asked her. Santana lightly shook her head. "Puck grab her stuff. Santana, I want you to wrap your arms around my neck" Finn said. Santana did just as he told her to. Finn scooped her up and she immediately tucked her head into his shoulder, silently crying.

Finn walked out of her office holding her close. Puck followed behind with her briefcase and purse. "I'll lock everything up. Call me if there is anything I can do" Sugar said. "Thanks, Sugar, we really appreciate it" Puck replied. Sugar just nodded, "love you San" she whispered. Everyone knew Santana heard her but she didn't show it. Sugar didn't care, she just wanted her friend to know that before she left.

Finn placed Santana in the car, in the back seat. It was like she was catatonic. Not making any sounds, absolutely nothing. Just as Finn was about to walk away he realized that Santana was clutching onto his shirt. She wouldn't look at him but she also would not let go. Finn looked at Puck who just nodded. Finn climbed into the back seat. Santana leaned up against Finn just staring out the front of the car. One hand clutched his shirt while the other had just rubbed her baby bump.

Puck drove toward their apartment. No one spoke the entire ride. The only sound was the soft whispers of the radio that were playing through the speakers.

Once they arrived and parked. Finn opened the door and slid out. He managed to bend over and pick up Santana. She laid her head on his shoulder. Puck looked over at them. Santana just looked lost. Her eyes were empty and her face was pale. She did not look like the girl that he knew. In fact, it reminded him of the first few weeks that Brett was gone. When she was working herself to death trying to numb the pain of missing him. This scared the shit out of Puck.

He was worried about her then but he was always holding on to the hope that Brett would call her to make her happy again. But now there was nothing to hold on to except the fact that Brett isn't dead….that they know of. Puck just prayed to God that this baby was going to keep Santana from falling.

They opened the door to the apartment and walked into the living room. Mercedes perked up from the couch. Santana still said nothing. "Where is Quinn?" Puck asked, noticing her lack of presence. Mercedes pointed to Quinn's room, "she fell asleep not long ago" she said. Puck turned toward Santana. "Where do you want to go San?" He asked softly. Santana finally stopped staring into the abscess and looked at him. A gloss covered her eyes. Puck could tell that tears were threatening to spill over at any moment. She said nothing. Santana knew that if she spoke, she would lose all composure that she was retaining.

Puck somehow knew that. "Do you want to lie down?" he asked. Santana nodded. Finn started walking down the hall toward her bedroom. Puck looked over at Mercedes. He realized that she also had tear stains running down her cheeks. "I am going to help San get dressed. She really hated staying in business clothes any longer than she needs to" she said. Puck nodded, "That's a good idea, I am going to check on Quinn" he replied before walking out.

Mercedes got to Santana's door just as Finn was placing her in her bed. "I got this Finn," she said. Finn nodded. He gave her hand that was holding onto his shift a squeeze before walking out.

"San, let's get you out of these clothes and into some pajamas," Mercedes said, shutting the door. Cedes grabbed the ones on her chair and walked over to Santana. "Not those" San's voice said. She sounded so small. "Which ones do you want?" Mercedes asked. Santana pointed over at her dresser. "Top drawer on the left" San said. Mercedes went over and opened up the drawer. Seeing what the drawer was filled with made a tear fall from her eye but she quickly wiped it away. She didn't want Santana to see her crying. Mercedes pulled out the t-shirt, Brett's t-shirt.

Mercedes stood in front of Santana. She pushed her blazer off and gently untucked the shirt from her pants. Santana didn't need to be told, she raised her arms up so Mercedes could pull the top off of her. Santana sat there in her bra looking down. She could make out the small bump that was starting to form. She could help but run her hand over it. "When did you get a tattoo?" Mercedes asked. Santana looked back up, her fingers sweeping over the saying absentmindedly.

"Brett was the only person who knew about it. I didn't try to keep it from people, it just sorta happened. I got it because I was never enough for anyone, I was always second best. But then I met Brett. He made me feel like I was everything like I was his everything" Santana explained. "You are his everything" Mercedes corrected. Santana opened her mouth to speak but closed it again.

Mercedes snapped her bra off and quickly replaced it with the t-shift. Cedes helped slide the pants off her friend. Then held out the shorts. Santana placed her hand on her shoulder and stood up. Leaning against her to place each of her feet in the holes. Mercedes pulled them up and placed them on her waist. Santana sat back down on the bed. "Can you lay with me…. Until I fall asleep?" Santana asked. Mercedes nodded, she would do anything for her right now.

What Mercedes didn't realize was that Santana slid under the blankets on the opposite side of the bed. Brett's side. Cedes turned off the light but before she could climb into the bed, San's voice chirped up. "Can you turn the lamp on?" she asked. Mercedes was a little confused but she wasn't going to question it. She quickly turned it on and got into the bed. Santana clutched onto Brett's pillow, holding it as close as she could. Mercedes rubbed her friend's back.

Santana closed her eyes. Brett's face was the first thing she saw. He looked so happy, smiling at her. He had the best smile, even though he would say she did. But the thing that always caught her attention was his eyes. Before she met Brett, Santana did not even know that eyes could be that blue. She hoped that their baby had his eyes. Santana closed her eyes tighter. Trying everything to stop crying but it didn't work. The tears started flowing again. Mercedes heard her quiet sobs and scooted closer. She wrapped her arms around her sobbing friend holding her tightly.

"He knew this was going to happen" Santana hiccuped. "What are you talking about?" Cedes asked. "Brett had a nightmare about this. He told me but I told him off, telling him that it wasn't going to happen" San whispered. "What was the nightmare?" she asked, the anticipation making her nervous. "Brett saw me at his own funeral, I was pregnant and he didn't know," San said, her voice shaking. "Santana, that is just a coincidence. Brett is not going to die and you will not be going to his funeral. Do you understand me" Mercedes said sternly. "He is missing Cedes," San said softly. "Yes he is but he will be found. It's Brett we are talking about. He survived so much, there is no way he is not going to survive this." She explained. "How do you know?" Santana asked. "Because he knows that you are waiting for him" Mercedes whispered. She was right, Santana was waiting for him and Brett knew. He promised he would come home to her and Santana knew she needed to hold on to that.

Mercedes finally heard Santana start to snore softly. She waited a few extra minutes to make sure that she was actually sound asleep before she got up. Mercedes crept out of Santana's room. She looked at her friend one last time, her face stained with tears before shutting the door. Mercedes walked to the living room, Both Puck and Finn quickly looked up at her. "She is finally asleep," Cedes said as she sat on the couch. "I think I am going to stay, in case they wake up," Puck said. "You can head out, maybe tell the others so they know not to mention anything to the girls" he added to Finn. Finn nodded, "I'll talk to you guys later. Let me know if I can do anything," he said. "Thanks, man" Puck replied before Finn left the apartment.

Puck looked over at Mercedes. "I want to stay. If that is okay? I just know that if Santana wakes up then she might want me to lay with her again" she explained. "That's a good idea," Puck said, nodding.

"You should have seen her face when I told her Mercedes. Like she lost the love of her life" Puck said. "Because she feels like she lost the love of her life" Mercedes whispered. "What are we going to do? We cannot just sit here and wait around" Puck asked. "There is nothing else to do. It's not like we can go out there looking for him. I don't even know who to call" Mercedes exclaimed. Her words gave Puck an idea. He grabbed his phone and quickly hit one of his contacts. "Hey man what's up?" a voice spoke on the other side.

Puck: "Hey, um do you have a second?"

Aaron: "Yeah. is something wrong?"

Pucks: (Tears welled up in his eyes. For the first time since finding out Puck could show emotion. He didn't want to in front of his sister or Santana in fear that it would upset them further) "Brett is missing, two officers just came and notified us"

Aaron: "What? What else did they say?"

Puck: "That's it. All they said was that he was missing and since he is Special ops, they cannot tell us anything"

Aaron: (scoffed) "that is not true. When Brett was captured during his last tour they came and told me. They informed me of his last location and when he was last seen. I am not sure what the protocol is or if they just told me because I am one of them, you know?"

Puck: "I knew something was up. Is there anything you can find out?"

Aaron: "I still have a few connections. Give me some time and I will try to find out the details"

Puck: "Thanks man, I really appreciate it"

Aaron: "Absolutely, Brett is my best friend, the guy who saved my life. I would do anything for him. How is Santana and Quinn doing"

Puck: "Not good, as expected. At least we managed to get them to fall asleep"

Aaron: "When they told me he was captured last time, I didn't even know what to do with myself."

Puck: "How do I help them?"

Aaron: "Let them express their emotions how they want. Just be there and make sure they are eating, drinking and resting. Santana still needs to look out for that baby"

Puck: "You know about the baby?"

Aaron: "Santana told Carrie who told me. Brett is going to be so excited" (Sadness in his voice)

Puck: (Picturing Brett finding out Santana is pregnant) "yeah he is, we just need to find him"

Aaron: "We will Puck. You watch after them and let me do the digging.

Puck: "Thanks man, I'll talk to you later"

Aaron: "Bye" (Hangs up)

"What did he say?" Mercedes asked. "He said that it didn't really make sense. Normally they would give more information to the family. Aaron said that he is going to call up some of his connections to see if they know anything" Puck explained. Mercedes nodded, "that's perfect. If anyone is going to figure it out Aaron will" Mercedes said. Puck didn't know if she was actually thinking that or if she is trying to convince herself. "How was Quinn?" Puck asked. Mercedes sighed. "She is upset of course. She kept saying that she knew something bad was going to happen ever since the General decided to send him back without being completely healed" Cedes explained.

They sat in silence for a few minutes, "Puck" Mercedes whispered. "Yeah?" he asked. "What if he never comes home?" she asked. Puck instantly started shaking his head, "don't say that. He is going to come home he has to" Puck said. "Santana said something to me while we were laying down," she said. "San told me that, Brett had a dream that she was pregnant at his funeral. What if Brett's inner self was telling him something" Mercedes added. Puck was shocked by what Mercedes said. Brett had never told him about that dream. It was so specific. But Puck had to hold on to the fact that Brett was still technically not dead. "The only thing that is coming true with that dream is that Santana ended up being pregnant," Puck said. "But Puck," she tried to say but Puck cut her off "no Cedes, we are not losing him. Brett is going to be fine and be home soon I just know it" He said. Mercedes was not going to try and persuade him otherwise.

"Hey baby" Brett whispered. Santana slowly opened her eyes, expecting to see Mercedes still laying in her bed. But instead, she was met with those eyes, those ocean blue eyes. "Brett" she whispered in disbelief. "I thought you were missing?" she asked. Brett smiled and let out a soft chuckle. "I was Tana but I am not now. I am home" he said. She jumped up from the lying position she was in as he sat on the bed. Santana immediately wrapped her arms around his neck. Brett's strong arms wrapped tightly around her waist pulling her as close as he could to his chest. Brett could feel her heart beating against his.

"I missed you so much B" Santana mumbled into the crook of his neck. "I told you that I would come back. Remember what you said to me?" Brett asked. Santana just shook her head. She said a lot of things to him, not knowing the exact thing he was referring to. Brett took this as an indication to just tell her, "you told me that I needed to come home so we could start our lives together" he said. Repeating the exact phrase that Santana said to Brett in the middle of the airport right before he left for his flight. "Do you remember that?" Brett asked. Santana pulled back so she could see his face.

"I remember," San whispered. "I told you that you were my everything. I meant what I said, Santana. There was no way that I wasn't going to come home to you. I wouldn't want to spend the rest of my life with anyone else" Brett explained. He moved his hand up to cup her cheek. Brett reached his thumb out and wiped the tear that fell from her eye. "Why are you crying?" he asked. "You were missing, '' she said. "You're too beautiful to cry. No more crying. I am home now and I am not going back. I promise" Brett said. Santana could help but smile, hearing him say that he isn't going back made her overjoyed.

"Now it's just me and you" Brett whispered. Santana shook her head. He looked at her confused, "no?" he asked. Santana smirked. She reached down and lifted up her shirt, looking at her bump before turning back to him. She wanted to see his reaction. Brett followed her gaze down. At first, when she started to pull her shirt up he thought that it meant sexy time. Especially since Santana knew that Brett loved to ravish her gorgeous twins but her shirt just bunched right below them.

He was going to ask her why she stopped but then he noticed it. Her flat abdomen was no longer there. Instead, it was replaced with a small tan bump. It took Brett a second but then he got it. She said it wasn't going to be just the two of them. Brett whipped his head up to look at her. God she was glowing and her smile completely assured him of the question he was going to ask. "When did you find out?" Brett asked. "The day you went on the mission when I was at the doctor," San said. Brett cut her off, finishing her thought "it was morning sickness," he said. Santana nodded.

"Can I…. touch" Brett asked cautiously, he didn't want to make her uncomfortable. Santana could tell that he didn't want to overstep. She reached out and grab his hands. Santana placed them gently on her growing baby bump. At first, Brett tensed up. He had no idea what to do. Brett had never met anyone pregnant before let alone with his baby. "I don't want to hurt it" Brett whispered. "Just relax you won't, I promise," Santana whispered back. She thought it was sweet that he was so nervous. Brett took a breath before he finally relaxed his hands. Both his hands completely covered her bump. Santana's hands covered his. Santana felt water hit her hands. When she looked up, Brett was still staring down at her stomach. His mouth was slightly agape with tears free-falling from his eyes.

"B" San said. Brett looked up at her but kept his hands on her baby bump. "You're crying," she said. "You're too pretty to cry" San said with a cheeky grin. Brett scoffed and chuckled. "We're having a baby?" Brett asked. It's like he needed her to say it to make this all real. "We are having a little baby," Santana said with a big grin. Brett couldn't help himself. He pulled Santana up into his arms and spun her around. She couldn't help but laugh as Brett swept her off her feet. "We are having a baby!" Brett yelled.

He kept one hand on her lower back and raised the other one to her cheek as he placed her on the ground. Santana's arms rested comfortably around his neck. "You Santana Lopez are the love of my life," Brett said. He didn't give her a chance to say anything in return. Instead, he encased her lips in his. The feeling of her bump pressed into his front just made him kiss her more passionately. She was his love, the mother of his child, his everything. Brett pulled back slowly and rested his forehead against hers. "This has been amazing, Tana" he said. Santana nodded slightly. "But every good thing must come to an end. You need to wake up now" Brett said. Santana's smile slowly started to leave her face. "I'll see you soon my love, I love you," he said, pecking her lips softly.

When Santana opened her eyes, she was laying in her room alone. Of course, it was only a dream. The only light coming from the lamp on her desk. The darkness outside her windows indicated that it was still nighttime. When she got up, Santana couldn't help but hug her waist. The t-shirt she had on still had the scent of him on it. It's like Brett wore them all then folded them into her drawer. Santana wouldn't put that past him. That is definitely something he could do for her. She loved the feeling of his shirt pressed up against their baby, it made him feel like he was with them.

Santana walked out into the living room. Both Puck and Mercedes were fast asleep on the couch while the television played some infomercial. Santana walked closer to the two. Puck had tear stains on his cheeks. She never even asked him how he was doing. Brett had become one of Puck's best friends. They had a close bond that was pretty hard to break even though they had only known each other for a few months.

Then Santana walked over to Quinn's door. The bedroom door was wide open, probably so Mercedes and Puck could hear if she woke up. Santana crept into the room. Quinn was curled up on her side clutching her baby blanket. Quinn had kept it all these years and only took it out when she was upset and needed a little extra comfort. Which made sense for this moment.

Quinn also had tear stains on her cheeks, just like Puck. Santana reached up to touch her own face. She didn't have any stains, in fact, she had fresh tears streaming down her face. Santana didn't even realize that she was crying. Santana didn't want to be alone. She slowly pulled back the covers and crawled into the bed. Quinn could feel the bed shift and opened her eyes.

She saw the glossy brown orbs stare back at her. "Oh, San" Quinn whispered. Quinn pushed her blanket away and reached out for her best friend. Santana snuggled closer and let Quinn hug her close. "They are going to find him, Santana, I just know it" Quinn whispered and kissed her head. Santana couldn't say anything. She just placed her head on her chest and let Quinn hold her. That's all she needed right now.

Puck woke up to the sound of knocking at the front door. It took him a second to figure out where he was but then everything came back to him like he was hit by a train. He quickly shook Mercedes awake. She groaned, "what time is it?" she asked. Puck looked at his watch, "it's noon. There is someone at the door" he said. Mercedes looked at him confused, "okay then get it" she said. Puck looked at the door then back to her, "what if it's them" he whispered. "What if it is the officers coming back to tell the girls that he is dead," Puck said. Mercedes gulped as someone knocked again.

"Just get it, it's better us than them answering it, '' Mercedes said. Puck nodded, she was right. He got to save Santana from relieving the news, he just wished he could have protected Quinn too. The puck got up and peered into Quinn's bedroom. He saw his girlfriend holding Santana in her arms, both girls were fast asleep. He wondered when Santana woke up and made her way in there. Puck pulled the door closed before continuing on to the front door. He took a deep breath before answering it. "Finally," Aaron said, walking past him. Puck released the breath he was holding and shut the door after him. "Shhhh, you're going to wake up the girls" Puck said following him back into the living room.

"I think you should wake them up," Aaron said. "Why?" Mercedes asked. "I found out some things about Brett and they really need to hear this," he said. Puck and Mercedes looked at each other. "I got it," Mercedes said getting up. She walked into Quinn's bedroom and her heart dropped at the screen in front of her. There laying in the best were her two best friends. Mercedes could tell at they both much have cried themselves back to sleep together. Mercedes walked up to the girls. "Quinn, San I need you guys to get up" Mercedes said. She combed the hair out of Quinn's face and then tuck Santana's hair behind her ear. Santana groaned, "why are you waking us up," She asked. "It's noontime," Mercedes said. "San, you need to eat." Quinn chirped up. "I'm not hungry," San replied. "The baby needs to eat," Quinn said.

Santana sighed knowing that they were right, especially since she had never eaten dinner last night. "Come on Aaron is here. I'll grab you some breakfast to eat while we talk" Mercedes said. Both Quinn and Santana opened their eyes slowly. They looked at each other before looking at Mercedes. "Why is Aaron here?" Quinn asked. "Puck called him last night to tell him the news. Aaron said that the information the officers told us didn't make sense. He said that he was going to call in some connections and I guess he found something out. He wants to tell us, all of us" Mercedes explained. "Is it…. Bad news?" Santana hiccuped. "I don't know but I don't think he would have had you woken up if it was bad" Mercedes thought. Santana nodded, that seemed about right.

Santana and Quinn both rose from the bed. They walked out into the living room. "Go sit on the couch, ill grab you something," Mercedes said. Santana nodded and took a seat on the couch while Quinn cuddled up against Puck. "Hey, San," Aaron said. Santana just nodded "hi" she replied quietly. "How's the baby? Carrie showed me the picture of the sonogram you sent her" Aaron said with a smile. Santana clutched her belly, "he's okay, his heartbeat is nice and strong" she said. "He?" Quinn asked. Santana just hunched her shoulders, "I just have a feeling it's a boy" she said. Quinn and Puck both smiled, for the first time in the last 24 hours. Mercedes came back and took a seat next to Santana. "A mother's instinct," she said, placing the fruit bowl in front of Santana.

"What did you find out," Puck asked, cutting right to the point. "I knew something was up when you told me that they only told you guys that he was missing. The military does not just do that. I told Puck yesterday that when Brett was captured they told me his last location even when he was on a top-secret mission." Aaron explained. "Then why didn't they tell us anything else?" Quinn asked. "I don't think the men that came to tell you knew. Normally those from the Casualty assistance office do not know anything other than what they are told." Aaron said. Hearing the word 'Casualty' made Santana want to vomit. She pushed the fruit away, not being able to eat any more right now. She pulled the dog tags that Brett gave her out from her shirt and just held them. He gave them to her for protection and right now she wishes he had them. He needed protection over her right now but if Santana had to guess Brett would still want her to have them even if he was hurt.

"I called my connection at the pentagon and explained the situation. Normally he wouldn't be able to tell me anything but I guess Brett saved his son on a mission a while back so he made an exception." He said. "Man, I understand I asked for your help but I don't give a crap about how you got the information. We just want to know about Brett" Puck said, clearly frustrated. "Sorry, sorry I'll get to the point. There was a helicopter crash" Aaron said. Santana placed her other hand over her mouth, anything to keep herself from vomiting.

"I guess he was on a mission," Aaron said. "He was, I talked to him before he left. It was right before I found out I was pregnant. He said that he had to travel somewhere and that he would call in about a month" Santana chirped up. Aaron nodded, "I guess he was on a recon mission. I don't know the details of it because my connection could not tell me anything regarding that. But I guess the helicopter he was on took heavy fire and it went down" Aaron said. Quinn nodded slowly, "okay there was a crash, what there has to be more since Brett is missing and not dead" she exclaimed.

"Brett's platoon tried to get close enough but there was too much heavy fire. They had to retreat. By the time everything settled down and they made their way back to the helicopter it was just a reck" Aaron said. "So what did they find?" Mercedes asked. She unconsciously tightened her hold on Santana and boy did Santana need it. "I guess they found a body but it was unrecognizable. No one else was there but my friend did send me a few pictures from the file" Aaron said. He handed over his cell phone to Puck. Santana could tell by Puck's face that whatever he was looking at was not good. The picture made Quinn gasp, "I can't look at that" she said, pushing it away. "Give me the phone, '' Santana said. "I don't think" Puck started to say but Santana grabbed the phone from his hand. "You do not get to decide what I see, Brett is my boyfriend. I need to know" she said. Puck didn't even say anything back, he knew that it was her fear talking.

She looked down at it. The entire picture showed the charred wreckage of the helicopter. Santana realized she would have never known it was a helicopter if they didn't tell her. She scrolled to the next picture and saw the charred body of someone. As a criminal attorney, she has seen many bodies but this one took her breath away. The next picture though, made her stomach drop. She zoomed in. It was Brett's helmet. She could see the pictures that Mercedes attached to the inside clearly. Some of the pictures were burned and some were missing. "Who's body is that?" Puck asked. "They don't know. Apparently, there was a helicopter pilot on board but forensics are still trying to figure out the identity. So the military informed his family and us that they were missing until the results came in" Aaron explained.

"So we don't know who's body it is?" Mercedes asked. Aaron nodded. "It's not Brett," Santana said. Everyone looked over at her. "We are holding on to that" Puck replied. "No, I am not just saying that. It is not Brett." She said again. "Why do you think that?" Quinn asked. "I have seen many bodies and I know Brett's stature and they do not match. Whoever this is was not as big as Brett, I am telling you" Santana argued. She showed the picture to Aaron again, who studied it closely. "I can't say for certain but I kinda have to agree," he said. Aaron agreeing with her made her heart beat fast. This is good, it means Brett's alive right?

"Okay, so Brett was in a helicopter crash that was caused by gunfire. In theory, the pilot died while Brett survived, then where is?" Quinn asked. "Did you hear anything else?" Puck asked. Aaron looked down and then back up, his eyes matching the glossiness of the people around him. "They are not looking for him," Aaron said. "What do you mean?" Puck asked. "What?" San asked at the same time. "They called off the search because it was too dangerous for everyone else. I guess the crash happened right near a hideout of some dangerous men whose crew completely outnumbered them. The military decided that they needed to devise a thorough plan to infiltrate before going to look for Brett so they put all rescue attempts on hold" Aaron explained safely.

"What, they can't do that!" Quinn yelled. "Brett might be in that hideout, he would have to get shelter from the heat right?" Mercedes asked. "That is what I was thinking too. Especially since that is what we're taught to do to survive out there" Aaron added. "It's them," Santana whispered. "What is?" Aaron asked. "The brothers that captured Brett," She said. Aaron was kinda taken back, no one knew about them. "How do you know about them?" he asked. "Brett told me that the guys who took him were brothers. I don't know why the United States wanted them dead but he told me that they were an extremely big threat to national security. The General was only sending Brett overseas to find those men" Santana explained. "Is that true? He was deployed there to find the same men who tortured him?" Puck asked.

Aaron shook his head, "Brett was never supposed to tell you that but yes" he agreed. "That is so fucked up" Puck muttered. "So now we think he could have been taken again by the men who almost killed him and put him in an ICU last time," Santana said. Aaron nodded, "Based on everything I know, that's what I believe happened….. I am so sorry Santana," he said. The tears began to make Santana's eyes sting. She can't be here. She can't sit here with everyone looking at her like this. Especially now. Brett might be being held once again by these monsters. There is no way they are going to let him live again, they already made that mistake once.

"I can't do this," Santana said, quickly getting up. She ran toward her bedroom. "Santana please" Mercedes begged, She could tell that she was behind her. Santana made it to her room and slammed the door shut, sliding down the door to the ground as the tears flooded out.

*I am sorry to everyone who wanted Brett to be behind the door but we needed a little drama. Please like and comment!*
