MasterClass60 asked about this classic song from Sofia the First, so enjoy your request! I thought it would be nice if, as a follow up to chapter 14 of Do You Want to Sing Together XXIV, Sofia met up with Princess Elsa, Queen Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, Sven, and Elsa's Pokemon Ember for a little reunion and get-together. As they show Sofia around the Enchanted Forest, Ember remembers her friend Serena, and Sofia helps her feel better. Thanks to MasterClass60 for helping with the story, and the song lyrics. Sofia the First is not mine.
Sofia smiled as she got nearer to the Enchanted Forest where Princess Elsa now lived. She remembered when her amulet had summoned her and her Pokémon friend Ember the Braixen to her, when she was nervous about seeing her birth father when she had glimpsed him at the first festival that she had organized by herself. Fortunately, Elsa and Ember had helped her, and after singing one of her favorite songs, gave her the confidence she needed to see her birth father, and his new family again.
Before she went to the Enchanted Forest, however, she spent a little time at the castle in Arendelle, where she was reacquainted with Olaf. She met Queen Anna and her husband Kristoff, and the three of them decided to accompany Sofia when she went to visit Elsa and Ember. Sofia had agreed, thinking that it would be a nice surprise. Anna had even told her that Elsa had introduced Ember to Kristoff, Olaf, Sven, and herself, and they were all good friends with the little firefox.
As they trekked through the forest, Sofia stopped when she heard what sounded like footsteps scurrying past her. She looked around, but didn't see anyone at first, until Anna noticed something in the trees, breaking into a chuckle, along with Kristoff and Olaf, though Olaf asked, "Why are we laughing again?"
Sofia then saw that sitting on a tree branch smiling was Ember, who happily said, "Long time no see."
Sofia smiled in excitement and said while running to the firefox, "Ember! It's so great to see you again!"
Ember hopped down and hugged Sofia while saying, "It's great to see you again too. How have you been? How did things go from the last time we met?"
Sofia replied, "I've been doing pretty well. I ended up getting to talk with my birth father and met his new family, and they're all very nice. The advice you and Elsa gave me really helped."
Ember smiled as she said, "I'm happy my mother and I were able to help you."
Sofia then asked, "I know you explained it before, but how did Elsa become your mom?"
As she walked on Ember's other side, Anna explained, "Well, a long time ago, Ember ended up stumbling into our world by accident and met Elsa. While we were helping her find her way home, she and Elsa developed a bit of a bond. Ember grew quite attached to Elsa since she's always wanted a mother figure in her life, considering her past."
"Oh, that's right," Sofia agreed, "You grew up with some bad people who hurt you before, right?"
Ember nodded as Kristoff said, "After she initially returned to her world, we did a little research, finding out Ember was actually from the Enchanted Forest."
Olaf then stated, "So, when Ember returned here again after that, we shared the news and after showing her friends around, she decided to stay and live with Elsa. And the rest is history."
Sofia seemed intrigued by the story as she said, "Wow. It's amazing how you ended up finding a family here, Ember."
Ember blushed a little bit as she said, "Thanks, Sofia. Anyway, what brings you to the Enchanted Forest? Are you seeking advice from Elsa or me?"
"Not this time," Sofia smiled. "I just thought it would be nice if I came for a casual visit. I wanted to see how you were doing since my amulet summoned you."
"That's right," Anna agreed, "Olaf told me and Kristoff about how your amulet brought him to you, and you helped that fairy, Miss Nettle. She even sent a few pouches of Nettle Drop flowers to Arendelle, and I've got to say, Sofia, that everyone loves them! We even gave a pouch to Elsa, and she planted them in the Enchanted Forest too!"
Ember nodded and said, "Oh yes. I remember that. We planted them back at the village. Would you like me to show you the way?"
"Sure thing," Sofia nodded.
Ember began to lead Sofia, Anna, and Kristoff into the forest, where behind a few bush brambles, the small northern village rested. As they approached, they watched as all the villagers did their regular activities.
The village elder noticed Ember approaching as she came to her, saying, "Ah, Ember, you have returned, and with our friends in tow, and one new friend I see."
Ember nodded and said, "Yes. Meet Princess Sofia of Enchancia. Sofia, this is the village elder of the Northuldra people."
Sofia bowed as she said, "A pleasure to meet you."
The elder smiled, bowed back, and replied, "The pleasure is all mine."
Then, a new voice, which Sofia instantly recognized, chimed in, "Sofia, is that you?"
Sofia saw Elsa approaching, and as she smiled and waved, she called, "Hello, Elsa. It's so great to see you again!"
Elsa replied, "I'm glad to see you too, Sofia. What brings you to the Enchanted Forest?"
Ember answered, "She came to check up on us to see how we've been."
Suddenly, Sofia could feel the wind around her become more energetic as she giggled while it blew past her. "What's that?"
Olaf smiled as the wind blew by him. "Hi Gale," he commented as it picked him up.
Giggling, Sofia watched Olaf play with the spirit as Ember explained, "Gale is the name of the wind spirit. We have three others who work to help keep the nature in balance. Bruni, the fire spirit, Nokk, the water spirit, Earth Giants, who represent earth and who are all very nice, and you met Gale, the wind spirit, all working in harmony to help provide and protect." Suddenly, Ember noticed that Gale was lifting a small red fedora with a black stripe. The firefox smirked and said, "Hey, that's my hat!" Gale then began to blow it away as Ember laughed and chased after the wind spirit, which made Sofia decide to follow for fun. Ember ran as fast as her feet could take her before leaping from tree to tree, grabbing the fedora victoriously, commenting, "Ember, two, Gale, zip." The wind spirit spun around her before soaring away, leaving Ember to look at the hat. Memories came back about the time she spent with her friends, especially her best friend, Serena Yvonne, long before she came here. Secretly...she missed Serena. Ember hugged the hat close as she softly said, "What have you been up to, Serena?" When Sofia caught up to Ember, she saw the sad look the firefox had in her sapphire blue eyes, and it made the princess become concerned.
"Ember, is everything all right?" she asked as she pulled her into a hug.
"I was just...thinking about...Serena..." Ember buried her face in her hands.
"Serena? Is she a friend of yours?" Sofia asked, stroking her fur.
"Ember?" Elsa asked as she came up to them. "Ember, sweetheart, it's all right."
As Sofia watched Elsa comfort Ember, she felt the urge to ask why Ember suddenly felt sad. Luckily, she didn't need to, because the minute saw how concerned Sofia looked, she explained, "See, Serena was a very dear friend of Ember's, long before she came here. She helped Ember out of a dark time and raised her with utmost care and love. In a way, they bonded really close as best friends, almost like sisters. Sometimes, Ember has days where she misses her, which is perfectly normal."
Ember then slowly lowered her paws while saying, "It's not easy on those kinds of days because...well...I don't want to feel sad for missing her, because I know she's always there with me, even if we're not physically together. But, when I miss her, these emotions just wash I've me and it makes things a little harder to cope with."
Sofia then came up to Ember and commented with a reassuring smile, "Hey, it's okay, Ember. I know how you feel. I sometimes feel sad when I miss my friends too, especially Jade and Ruby. Before I became a princess, we used to live close to each other, and after my mom married my dad, King Roland, we moved to the castle and I then started to live far away from my friends. I missed them a lot, and sometimes, I still do. But what helps me is knowing that no matter where we live, you'll always be connected to your friends because your friendship with them stays with you. You and I live in different parts of the world, but we're still friends, right?" Ember nodded in response to the question as Sofia continued, "See? You just have to remember that your friendship always follows you around, and doesn't leave you no matter where you go or stay. I'm sure your friend Serena knows that too, and continues to love and remember you, wherever she is, right?"
Ember nodded as she said, "Yeah. And your advice does help me feel a little better."
Elsa then spoke up, "And I know something else that might help too," before she used her ice magic to unleash a small flurry wind that surrounded the trio while music began to play.
Sofia smiled as she recognized the tune. "I remember singing something like this with my friend Vivian!"
She took Ember in her arms as she sang, If you are missing those you love, whether here or up above. If you're feeling a little sad, here's something to make you glad.
Elsa intercepted them and took Ember in her arms for her own dance as she joined in, I'll just sing a little song, to get us going strong. You can sway, dance, or hum, till you wanna join along!
Anna smiled as she watched them. "And where was this song when Elsa and I were growing up?"
"It's okay, Anna," Olaf smiled. "You're together again, right?"
Anna smiled as she took him in her arms. "That's right!" She started dancing with him as she joined in the song, It's on the tip of your tongue, just waiting to be sung. So follow me, take my lead. A special friend may be all you need.
Kristoff smiled as he watched them. "May I have this dance, Sven?"
"You're a good dancer, Kristoff, but I think I'll just watch," he made Sven say.
"Kristoff, did you know that Sofia can talk to animals too?" Olaf asked.
At the same time, Sofia was singing, When I miss my friends from home, I let my memories start to roam. I draw things that remind me of the fun times easily.
Anna smiled as she sang to her, What about dancing 'cross the floor to keep those memories flowing more? We took a chance and love to dance, and it's a passion we adore!
"Well, we did hear from someone that music makes everything better," Elsa grinned.
As she and Anna danced with Sofia and Ember, they all sang together It's on the tip of my tongue just waiting to be sung. I'll follow you, I'll take your lead. A special friend may be all I need!
Olaf echoed, All you need!
Sofia smiled, remembering the phrase that James always used. "Yes it does, and I'm so happy we're making you feel better, Ember!"
Ember nodded as she sang, We'll just sing a little song (Olaf and Elsa echoed, la la la!) To get us going strong.
I'll dance and sway!
We can hum! Hmmmmmm!
And then, we'll sing along!
Everyone finished the song together, I'm so glad you found way to make this a perfect day!
I'll follow you!
I'll take your lead!
A special friend may be all we need! All we need!
"You feel better now, Ember?" Sofia asked as she gave her a hug.
Ember smiled as she said, "Yeah, I do feel better."
Suddenly, a loud neigh got the group's attention as Sofia saw what looked like a horse made of water leap out from the creek. It came forward and looked at Sofia as Elsa explained, "No need to fear. It's only Nokk, the water spirit. It's friendly once you get to know it."
"And it's even more fun to ride!" Ember added.
Sofia asked, "How do you ride it?"
"Like this," Elsa walked up to the water spirit. She used her magic to freeze the water spirit with a cloak of ice, making it sturdy and now resembling a beautiful horse made of ice. Sofia was amazed as Elsa then hopped onto it and offered a lift to Sofia, who graciously accepted.
As she settled herself on the water spirit's back, Sofia smiled. "I've said this before, and I have to say it again," she said as she looked around at the great view. "This is ah-mazing!"
Elsa grinned at her enthusiasm. "Ready?"
Sofia grinned back. "You bet."
As the now frozen water spirit began to gallop, Ember ran alongside them, saying, "It's a lot of fun! Just sit back and enjoy the ride-woah!" Ember soon found herself riding a white reindeer as she said, "Let's race!"
Elsa chuckled as Sofia said, "You're on!"
As the race began, the trio saw Kristoff, Anna, and Olaf riding on Sven. "Room for one more?" Anna called.
Elsa nodded. "You're on, Anna!" With that call, they all rode across the ice realm of the Enchanted Forest.
While on her reindeer, Ember held onto the fedora and said to herself, "Check it out, Serena! I'm racing just like you!"
Far away, in a world very different from Enchancia and the Enchanted Forest, a honey-blonde girl was walking down a forest path when she stopped, and felt a sense of excitement in her chest. She felt her heartbeat and smiled, saying, "Sounds like Ember is having a lot of fun. I miss her, but I know she will always remember me, the same way I'll always remember her. Ember, let's always remain friends!"
Back in the Enchanted Forest, Ember felt her heart beating as she smiled, saying to herself, "We will always be together as friends, Serena, I promise."
