Time for this story's season finale. Enjoy!

Chapter 40: Father vs Daughter

Today in Chaotic, Sidney was on her way to the Crellen Drome with Minnie, Gisele, Nika and Krista. "I really wanna nail this one, girls." Sidney said. "If I win, it'll be my 7th win and I'll qualify for a CodeMaster Match with CodeMaster Crellen." "We know. The CodeMaster who taught your father all he knows about Chaotic." Nika said. "Just relax, Sid. You've done your best to get this far. Just play your best like you always do." Minnie said. "Yeah, girl. Do that and you'll always be able to win." Gisele said. "Thanks, girls. You're the best." Sidney said. In no time, they reached the Drome. "But it does feel weird not knowing who I'm battling." Sidney said. "Some players are into the whole mystery player thing." Minnie said. "Minnie's right. But there's no penalty if you want to turn this one down and battle someone else." Nika said. "No one in my family has ever turned down a challenge match! And I'm not starting now!" Sidney said with confidence. "That's the spirit, girlfriend." Gisele said. "Yeah! Now get in there and show…whoever it is you're battling who the top player is!" Minnie said. "Sid!" Robbie called. The girls turned to see Robbie running up to them. "Sid, there's something you need to know." Robbie started. "Thanks, Rob, but I have all the advice and support I can get. See you after the match." Sidney said, entering the Drome.

As Sidney walked up to the podium, a familiar voice cleared his throat. Sidney looked up and gasped. Her mystery challenger was none other than her own father, Tom Majors. "Ready to get Chaotic?" Tom asked as Sidney stared with her shocked expression.

(Intro)

"Daddy?! You're the mystery player?! You challenged me?!" Sidney asked, still in shock. "Surprise, surprise." Tom said. "I didn't even know you were in Chaotic. I thought you and Mom were at work." Sidney said. "That was all part of our plan." Tom said. "Plan?" Sidney asked in confusion. Just then, she got a call on her scanner. She answered it and saw that it was Sarah. "It's more like a little test we came up with." Sarah said. "You're one win away from a CodeMaster match with CodeMaster Crellen, my mentor." Tom said. "Yeah. So?" Sidney asked, still confused. "When I battled Crellen in the Beta Drome, I wasn't prepared for when I battled his Ursis. You were the same when you battled Amzen's Flitterix. To win a CodeMaster match, you gotta deal with surprises. A mystery match with me is a good test to see if you're ready." Tom explained. Sidney thought about this. "It's best not to think about it, Sid. When I married your father, I pretty much decided to go along with his crazy schemes." Sarah advised. "Well, I guess it couldn't hurt." Sidney said. She docked her scanner and prepared to assemble her team.

"Wait. Tom and Sarah pulled this scheme to help Sid?" Nika asked. "Yeah. I was on my way to school when Sarah called me on my scanner and told me right before they got here. I figured it wasn't a good idea, so I ported here and ran over to try and tell Sidney." Robbie said. While inside, Tom and Sidney were assembling their decks. "Tom said he wanted to give Sid some pointers like Crellen did for him and Amzen did for her." Robbie said. "But Tom's not a CodeMaster! And those were Beta matches, not major Drome matches!" Nika exclaimed. "I tried to tell her that, but she wouldn't listen." Robbie said. "Well, I wouldn't worry about Sidney. We spent the last 2 days working on a strategy. She's ready for her father." Minnie said. "They've never battled in a Drome before." Gisele said. "No. Tom taught her everything about Chaotic. They've played tons of card matches, online matches and even a few Beta matches. This is their first official Drome match." Robbie said. "And if Sidney wins, she gets to battle CodeMaster Crellen. This is gonna be intense." Krista said. Just then, Gisele's stomach growled. Everyone looked at her as she chuckled nervously. "Actually, I could use some food myself. Let's head for the Port Court and meet up with Sarah." Minnie said. "Great idea. We can follow the action on our scanners on the way over." Nika said.

By then, Tom and Sidney had finished assembling their decks. "We know each other's decks inside and out. Guess there won't be many surprises." Tom said. "Maybe, but you never know, Dad." Sidney said. "Players, lock your decks." The Drome Master instructed. Tom and Sidney locked their decks and revealed their teams. Tom had Iparu, Maxxor, Tangath Toborn, Smildon, Vlar and Unda. Sidney had Dradogus, Verlina, Sukoval, Flitterix, Heptadd and to Tom's surprise, an unknown Meerkat Creature. "Who's that next to Flitterix?" Tom asked. "Mittix. I scanned her last week." Sidney said. "Have you ever used her?" Tom asked. "No. This my first time using her in a Drome match." Sidney said. "Should be quite a match, considering your choice of Creatures." Tom said. "Dradogus, Flitterix and Heptadd? Quite the rarity selection." "Well, Dad, I see you Smildon and Vlar on your team. And I remember Unda, being the Servant of Water, is a pretty tough Creature herself." Sidney said. "Yep. I just hope you can handle them, Sid." Tom said. "My Creatures and I can handle anything, Dad." Sidney said confidently.

"Majorina, since you accepted the mystery match, you will attack first." The Drome Master declared. "Activate the Location randomizer." Sidney spun her randomizer and landed on the first Location. "The first Location, Kiru City. Choose your attacking Creature and its target." "What better way to start a father/daughter match than a good father/daughter battle. Verlina attacks Maxxor!" Sidney declared, tapping her Verlina and transforming into her best Creature. Tom tapped his Maxxor and transformed into the OverWorld leader himself. "Fatherly warning, Sid. I'm not gonna hold back. That wouldn't be fair to either of us." Tom said. "I wouldn't have it any other way, Dad. Let's get Chaotic!" Sidney shouted as everything went white.

In Kiru City, Maxxor looked around for any signs of Verlina. Just then, he was blasted into a building wall by Lavalanche. And then, Verlina rode up on a Skeletal Steed. "Nothing like a Lavalanche to get the blood boiling!" She punned, now attacking with Rainspears and pushing her father deeper into the building. "Glad you didn't hold back, Dad!" She called. Just then, there was a motor sound. Then Maxxor rode out of the building on a Mowercycle. "Sudden Flare!" He fired Sudden Flare from his hand, knocking Verlina off her Steed.

Meanwhile, Robbie and the girls had made it to the Port Court and sat down with Sarah just in time to watch the match. "Excuse me?" Gisele called to a passing robot. "What can I bring you?" The robot asked. "5 orders of Rothar Rings and 5 Shimmark Shakes please." Gisele ordered. "Coming right up." The robot said.

Verlina managed to get back up on the Skeletal Steed and stared attacking with Hydro Balls. Maxxor revved his Mowercycle, dodging the attack. He then attacked with Torrent of Flame, but Verlina blocked it with Rock Wave. They then rode up beside each other. "You think your Skeletal Steed can outrun my Mowercycle, Sidney?" Maxxor asked. "Not trying to outrun it, Dad. Just wanted to get you close enough for me to do THIS!" Verlina shouted, firing Pebblestorm at the Mowercycle's wheel. The blades began chipping into pieces and the Mowercycle crashed in the street, sending Maxxor flying and landing in the streets.

Robbie and the girls cringed as they watched and ate their meals. "That's gotta hurt." Krysta said. "I'm never using a Mowercycle against Sidney again." Nika said with fear.

Maxxor struggled to get up. Then he noticed a familiar tile on the ground. Smiling, he managed to stand up, pressed his foot on the tile and opened one of the many entrances to the Kiru City Tunnels. Then he hopped down the tunnel. Verlina rode up as the entrance closed. 'Oh, Daddy. You know that you can't escape me through the Tunnels.' Sidney thought. Verlina dismounted her Steed, pressed on the tile, opened the entrance and hopped down into the tiles.

As Verlina dropped down into the Tunnels, she started down one of them. But then, she found herself sealed in by 2 walls. "Ha! You might as well give up, Sid. No one's ever escaped my little tunnel trap." Maxxor said, going back up to the city through another tunnel. "Is that right?" Verlina asked, looking at the stones on the wall.

"What's she doing?" Minnie asked. "Don't know. But I never figured for a geologist type." Robbie said. Nika and Krysta then dunked his face in the pie he ordered for dessert.

Maxxor tapped his foot as he waited in the streets. "I don't understand. I should be back in the Drome. Sidney should've been crushed trying to escape." He said. "You talking about me?" Verlina's voice asked. Maxxor turned to see her standing in the streets, unharmed and dirt-free. He couldn't believe his eyes. "Fluidmight!" Verlina fired a Fluidmight from her chest, hitting Maxxor and coding him.

"How did you escape my trap?" Tom asked as Sidney transformed back. "Dad, did you really think you were the only one who knows every trick and trap in the Kiru City Tunnels?" Sidney asked. Tom was confused. "I've been learning my way through those tunnels since last year. I figured you might try some of your old tricks against me if we ever battled in a Drome match someday, so I studied every match you've ever played since Day 1." Sidney explained. "Studying's one thing, Sidney. But this is totally different." Tom said. "Then let's continue." Sidney said.

"MajorTom, it is your attack." The Drome Master said. Tom spun his randomizer, landing on the next Location. "The next Location, Mugician's Arch." "Iparu attacks Dradogus." Tom declared, tapping his Iparu and transforming into the rare shapeshifter. Sidney tapped her Dradogus and transformed into Mommark's great big Warbeast. "Mugician's Arch? Where's that?" Sidney asked. "You'll see." Tom said.

Dradogus flew through the mountains, looking for any signs of Iparu. But then, he caught sight of a rock arch with OverWorld Mugicians flying and circling around it. Dradogus had never seen anything so majestic like this before. "Beautiful, isn't it?" Iparu asked, floating up beside Dradogus. "Yeah. I've never seen anything like it." Dradogus said. "And nobody ever will again." Iparu said. Dradogus looked at him. "This was one of the Locations destroyed by those rogue players, wasn't it?" He asked. "Yeah. I was there when it happened. Those players used Sonic Charges to destroy the arch. I was lucky we were able to stop them in time. I was nearly taken out by one of the Charges." Iparu explained.

Everyone watching was in awe at this. "Whoa. That is deep." Nika said. "Yeah. Tom risking his life to stop a bunch of rogue players from destroying Locations in the OverWorld." Gisele said. "Yeah. I've used Sonic Charges in the Dromes. Those things are deadly." Robbie said.

"But alas." Iparu said, smacking Dradogus into the rocks with Dangalash. "This is still a Drome match. Do your worst." Just then, a Torrent of Flame nearly blasted Iparu out of the sky. "Ask and you shall receive!" Dradogus yelled, flying up after Iparu and the chase was on. Dradogus attacked again and again with different fire attacks. Iparu dodged the attacks and returned fire with fire.

"Wow! This is really getting intense!" Minnie said excitedly. "I know. The ferociousness of Dradogus against the legendary powers of Iparu. This is gonna be one for the books." Krysta said, writing in a book. "You're keeping battle records?" Nika asked. "Yes. I actually started writing this when I watched Mr. Majors' match with Bodal." Krysta said. "Guys? Something's going on with Iparu." Gisele said.

Iparu was glowing blue. Then a Mugician flew out of him and joined the other Mugicians in the Arch. "What just happened?" Dradogus asked. "That's the special properties of Mugician's Arch. Creatures battling here each lose one Mugician." Iparu explained. "Nice. This Location must really come in handy." Dradogus said. "Oh, it does. But even so, I only need one Mugic to beat you, Dradogus." Iparu said. He gave his last Mugician to activate a Mugic. "Song of Embernova!" The Mugic played in key and an orange beam hit Dradogus, throwing him off flying balance as his energy was lowered. "Fury Fist!" Iparu fired Fury Fist at Dradogus, coding him on impact.

Sidney was surprised that her own father coded one of her toughest Creatures. "I hope that wasn't too much for you to handle, Sid. Losing Dradogus like that." Tom said as he transformed back. "It wasn't. I remember that what's important is the player, not the cards. I may have lost Dradogus, but I'm still standing." Sidney said. Tom smiled and nodded, expecting no less from his own daughter.

"Majorina, it is your attack." The Drome Master said. Sidney spun her randomizer, landing on the next Location. "The next Location, Shivando Jungle." Sidney smiled, knowing her next choice and surprises. "Mittix attacks Tangath Toborn!" She declared, tapping her new Creature. When she transformed, she turned into a female meerkat dressed like an Amazon. Tom tapped his Tangath Toborn and transformed into the lion warrior. But this Tangath Toborn, he looked more like a ghost. This was his spirit form. "I figured this particular Tangath Toborn scan was his spirit form." Sidney said. "Just wait 'til you see what he can do." Tom said.

In the Shivando Jungle, Mittix leapt from tree to tree, keeping a lookout for Tangath Toborn. 'From what Dad told me about spirit forms, they're super powerful and they don't appear to take damage. They can even survive an Allmegeddon attack.' Sidney thought. 'But let's see this spirit handle my new Mittix.' Just then, a Megaroar sent Mittix flying out of the tree and into the bushes. Tangath chuckled as he floated down from above. "I figured my Megaroar would give you an earful, Sid." He said. Mittix slowly emerged from the bush. "Actually, all that did was give me a headache." She said. "Well then, allow me to cure your headache with a little Hail Storm!" Tangath exclaimed, firing Hail Storm from his paw. "Denied!" Mittix shouted, blocking the Hail Storm with an Earth Pulse. "Ooh. Interesting. Your new Creature can use earth attacks. Anything else?" Tangath asked with impression. "How about this? Blazing Claw!" Mittix fired Blazing Claw at the spirit warrior.

"I don't know what Sidney's thinking. Her attacks can't hurt Tangath when he's all spirit mode." Minnie said. "She's got something planned." Krysta said. "But whatever it is, she better do it fast." Nika said.

Tangath was nearly pushing Mittix to her limit. "Sorry, Sid, but I don't think Mittix has the skills to take me on in this position." He said. "Actually, there's a benefit to battling a spirit." Mittix said, forming something in her hand. "And what's that?" Tangath asked. "Reminding yourself to always bring the right tools for the job. Or in this case, the right BattleGear." Mittix said, holding up the Sword of Khy'at. Tangath gasped. "I know. The Sword of Khy'at. Tangath Toborn's favorite BattleGear. His Talazar. But I've also learned something about the inscriptions on the sword." Mittix explained. "And what's that?" Tangath asked. Mittix just closed her eyes and started mumbling an ancient chant. The Sword started to glow blue. "What's happening?" Tangath asked. But Mittix just kept chanting, raising her voice louder and louder. Then she fired a blue beam from the Sword at Tangath. Tangath screamed, feeling his energy drop from the attack. And then, after a few minutes, he got coded.

Robbie and the girls were surprised by this. "What the heck was that?" Gisele asked. "Don't know. I've never seen an attack like that before." Minnie said. "Must've been one of those secrets Heptadd mentioned." Robbie guessed.

Tom looked on at Sidney as she transformed back. "That was quite the surprise, Sid. I didn't even know the Sword of Khy'at was even capable of powers like that." He said. "Neither did I. But I'm afraid I'm gonna have to keep the knowledge to myself as I promised." Sidney said. "Good to know, Sid." Tom said.

"MajorTom, it's your attack." The Drome Master said. Tom spun his randomizer, landing at the next Location. "The next Location, Prexxor Chasm." "Smildon attacks Sukoval." Tom declared.

In Prexxor Chasm, Smildon attacked Sukoval with earth attacks boosted by his Ur-Shard. But Sukoval used his snake-like moves to avoid the attacks. He was armed with a Riverland Star, firing back with water attacks. But then, Sukoval came right up to one of the chasm's trenches. Then, Smildon leapt out of the forest to attack. But Sukoval, mustering all his strength, grabbed Smildon as he landed and tossed him into the trench. Smildon got coded as he hit the bottom.

Sidney's attack. "The next Location, Stronghold Mourn." The Drome Master said. "Flitterix attacks Vlar!" Sidney declared.

At Stronghold Mourn, Flitterix and Vlar battled intensely with all the power of the elements. Vlar was armed with a Torwegg so he could keep up with Flitterix in the air and boost his air attacks. He attacked with Lightning Burst, but Flitterix dodged it and attacked right back with Lavalanche. But Vlar blocked the attack with a water shield. "Now you're going to feel the heat too, Sid!" Vlar exclaimed, firing Heat Rage from his mouth. "Oh, chill out, Dad!" Flitterix exclaimed as she fought back with Frostblight.

"Why did Sidney put Stronghold Mourn in her Location deck? She knows that all Creatures can use attacks from all the elements there." Nika said with confusion. "I don't know. I think Sidney's just making Tom's test a bit more challenging for them both." Sarah said.

Flitterix and Vlar both landed on top of the Stronghold. Flitterix attacked with Magma Burst, hitting Vlar on his shoulder. "Time to mix it up with some Mugic." Vlar said, giving a Mugician to activate a Mugic. "Interlude of Consequence!" The Mugic played in key and a multicolored beam hit Flitterix. "I don't what that was about, Dad. But your Mugic appears to be a dud!" Flitterix said. "Yeah? Then take your best shot." Vlar dared. "Earth Pulse!" Flitterix shouted. But instead of Earth Pulse, Torrent of Water shot out from her hands, throwing her off the Stronghold. Vlar chuckled as he flew after her, attacking her with Hydro Balls. "Skeletal Strike!" Flitterix shouted. But her body got covered in Viperlash, to her surprise. Vlar attacked with Cyclone Slam, sending her flying for a bit. Flitterix quickly recovered and prepared to attack again. "Pyro Punch!" She shouted. But her eyes were blinded by Paral-Eyes. "Surprise, surprise, Sid. The Interlude of Consequence scrambles your attacks. Kaz used the same Mugic on me during our ruse match." Vlar explained. "Now pay attention. This is how you do a Pyro Punch!" He threw Pyro Punch on Flitterix, sending her into the mouth of the Stronghold and dropping her energy down to 10.

Robbie and the girls now got really worried for Sidney. "Oh man. With Sidney's attacks all scrambled like that, she'll never win the match." Minnie said. "She's got to win! She's just got to win!" Gisele exclaimed.

Vlar looked down into the Stronghold's mouth. "That Mugic will wear off in a second. That's all I need to win this battle." He said. But then, he was blasted by a purple stream of water. Flitterix flew out of the mouth, armed with an Airsaulter. She started blasting Vlar with Ember Swarm, Gravel Grind and Hail Storm. "Now you listen, Dad! This is how you do a Pyro Punch!" She exclaimed, firing a powerful purple Pyro Punch. The attack hit Vlar and coded him.

"YES!" Sidney cheered as she transformed back. "Way to go, Sid! You practically singled out my best Creatures!" Tom said. "I know. I'm ready to show you what else I got, Dad." Sidney said. "There won't be any need to, Sid." Tom said. "Huh?" Sidney asked in confusion. "Drome Master, I forfeit the match." Tom announced. Sidney gasped at this.

Even every at the Port Court was surprised. Even Robbie and the girls were shocked. Except for Sarah, who was smiling at her husband's forfeit.

"MajorTom has forfeited the match. The winner: Majorina." The Drome Master said. "But- But why, Dad?" Sidney asked. "Sid, there was a bit more to why your mom and I put together this little plan." Tom began to explain. "Sidney, the truth is…I wanted to see how much you've grown as a Chaotic player. Ever since you first came to Chaotic, you've been able to win match after match, make great friends and help the Tribal Alliance in more ways than any player before you has ever done. You've got a true Majors' heart, Sidney. And that is what makes you a really great Chaotic player." Sidney felt like crying. She hugged her father tightly. Tom hugged her back.

Sarah, letting out tears of joy, started clapping. Robbie and the girls joined in the applause. And pretty soon, everyone in Chaotic joined in too.

Just then, a circle opened up in the floor. Tom and Sidney looked as CodeMaster Crellen appeared before them. "That was a remarkable speech, Tom. You've really touched the hearts of everyone once again." Crellen said. "Thank you, CodeMaster." Tom said. "And he was not wrong, young Sidney. You are as every bit the player he and your family are." Crellen said. "Thank you, CodeMaster." Sidney said. "And now with this being your 7th win, you may have the pleasure to compete against me in a CodeMaster match. Have your deck prepared and meet me here in 3 days." Crellen said. "I will. I look forward to our match, sir." Sidney said. "Until then, Sidney Majors." Crellen said as they shook hands.

Back at their house, Sidney stared out the window in her room. She then looked at her scanner. "I was right the first time and I'm sure I'll be right again." She said. "This is gonna be epic. I just know it."
