Chapter 1: Childhood.

Ash Satoshi 'Aka' Ash Ketchum, was an unusual boy in more than one respects. When he was but a babe, he was calm, quiet and only cried when he really needed something. Such it be a diaper change, some food or drink, or perhaps even some extra attention from his parents.

A year or so after his birth, when he was barely old enough to be considered a toddler, His mysterious father was tragically killed in an attack by the dreaded R Legion. This Dark organization stole some of his father's strongest pokemon and then took off, Leaving only a few Pokemon balls for Delia to salvage.

On that day, Delia vowed to never tell her son about his father, for fear that he would try to be like him and also end up sharing his fate.

Years later, Ash found a very old book in his father's office while he was doing his chores. It was written in an unusual language that even his own mother did not Recognise, and much to his shock, even the local professor had no clue as to what language it was written in either.

Now left with more questions than answers about his father, Ash looked around the office more thoroughly, desperate to figure out what type of man his father had been in the past.

This lead to Ash searching through the attic and other places that his father had put things, hoping to discover anything about him. Thankfully, He found a tin box with an unusual cylindrical device inside, and next to this cylinder, he found an assortment of Crystal's.

Confused, Ash asked his mother if she knew anything about them. Anything about his father, the man she had supposedly loved. When her face turned sad, he knew that she in fact did know, but had chose to lie to him from the moment he started asking questions.

The boy tried to confront her, but she refused to tell him a thing, and instead chose to resort to… other means to get him to stop asking. Meaning she beat him.

Depressed, ashamed and overworked, Delia tried her best to care for her son and herself. Working double shifts at multiple jobs just to put food on the table and a roof over their heads. She did love her son, but she could not let him know the truth, ever. Unfortunately, a hospital she worked at was robbed… and she was killed during the incident.

Now alone and with no biological family to look after him, Ash was put into an orphanage for young boys. That living arrangement didn't last long, for he was then moved around. Region to region, orphanage to orphanage, Foster house to Foster house.

Some families treated him decently, others however, used him as a personal servant, or even a punching bag. Whatever they 'needed' at any particular time.

When he turned eight, he had more cuts and bruises from his 'chores' and 'housework' than a common child would get from falling over in the road or scraping his knee via use of a bicycle.

As Ash grew, the work and pain became more severe. But he took it in stride, learning to cope with almost anything his guardians threw at him. He learned not to cry out or even make a hurt expression on his face, he understood the importance of controlling his emotions. Especially in hiding them from his 'caretakers'.

Unfortunately he was not able to keep his friendships going, especially with him moving around the different region as he did, so they didn't last long most of the time.

He learnt to think before he acted quite early on. Why? Well after an escape attempt from an orphanage landed him in a cave with crazed Zubats, He ended up with a long, deep, scar across his left eye.

He was barely ten when he finally understood that there was no true grey in the world he lived in, only black and white.

That was also when he discovered he had strange abilities.

He could sense things, such as the life around him. He could feel the difference between the energies in the area around him, the very life force of every living thing. He could lift and move things with his mind, barely even having to move a digit of his finger to be able to do so.

He even had the ability to understand people's true emotions, even if they're an incredible liar or actor. He could see behind the mask that people wore, even if somebody was far away. That was why he knew certain politicians and Pokemon trainer's held dark secrets, because he simply looked at them for a seconds, and then he knew all he needed to know.

In his preteens, Ash decided to learn more than the basic self defense he had taught himself at the various Foster Homes. He wanted more knowledge, craved it even. And so in any spare time he had, he enrolled in multiple Martial Arts schools as well as Pokemon training schools. And even decided to take advanced weapons training. Just in case he needed it.

He took in the knowledge of each course and lesson, drinking it in like a man dying of thirst. He hardened his body, strengthened his mind and vowed to let no one hurt him ever again.

When he was twelve, he stumbled upon an injured Treecko, it had broken it's leg and had cuts all over it's body. Apparently it's trainer had abused it after its defeat in battle and had then decided to leave it to die.

He nursed the poor Pokemon back to health using some of his power, as well as by feeding it with what berries he could find or scavenge.

He bonded with the small Pokemon, letting it sleep in his arms at night. Helping it feel safe and loved.

Weeks later, a similar story took place when he found an injured, abandoned Riolu.

Due to its smaller than average size, as well as it's unusual color, It's family kept it secret from other Riolu clans, but unfortunately, a rival clan had found out and killed it's family. The clan had then left it die in the wild. Telling the Riolu that it was it's own fault that it's family was dead.

When Ash had found the Riolu, he had to scare off a Rabid ZigZagoon that had been roughing up the poor pokemon, then he took Riolu and nursed it back to health as he did his Treecko.

The next day he visited a Medical Centre, just to be sure that Riolu was okay, to his surprise, Nurse Joy informed him that Riolu was female.

So he had saved both a male and female pokemon. That was interesting.

Not long after he had saved them, they had both requested to be his pokemon. Oh yeah, that's something that wasn't mentioned yet… was it.

He can understand pokemon language. So when everybody else hears growls, animal noises or them shouting out their own name. He hears proper words, sentences, accents, and emotions in their voices.

He had to keep this a secret though, because otherwise he'd be viewed as a freak of nature, or that he was practicing some kind of dark acts against nature and Arceus themselves.

It wouldn't have made a difference though, some people already thought he was a freak due to his scar and Unusual nature.

Anyway!

When he turned fourteen. He found a way of living on his own at his age that was legal. So, along with his two pokemon, he moved to the Hoenn region. Specifically, Petalburg City.

He had met a few people here years ago, and had finally made some good, true friends.
