A young adult woman was sent reeling backward by her enemy, with a backflip she gracefully landed on her feet. She barely landed on the rocky ledge, her black heeled boots leaving two scores in the dirt underneath her in an attempt to steady herself, a cloud of dust emerging around her from the impact.
She moved her head upward from under her large white witch hat, with a golden crown fit snugly around the pointy part, to face her opponent with a look of stubborn determination and defiance set deep in her dark gray eyes. Her large and long, aquamarine colored hair tied twice at the bottom with two yellow hairbands was flowing behind her from the agitated wind inside of the red-hot cavern, along with her white dress which turned a mellow purple color below her waist, and turned a more vibrant purple around the top of her shoulders with a little golden star right below her neck.
Her hands were clutching tightly onto a long white staff. Near the top of the staff there was a purple sleeve, the same color as the bottom of her dress with a shiny golden rim around it, and at the very top the white staff curved neatly around a large sky blue teardrop-shaped gem.
Her opponent towered over her, its body resting in the lava below the ledge, casting a shadow over her small frame. Said shadow came from a large horned serpent that had dark purple scales, a pair of golden eyes, thin spikes on its chin, and thin webbed-dorsal fins on its back.
"Foolish child..." it hissed at its challenger in a spine-chilling voice without moving its mouth as it spoke. It slithered ever-so-closer to the white-cloaked woman who stood defiantly in front her adversary. "I could swallow you whole!"
Opening its saliva-covered mouth wide, revealed many sharp teeth and two long fangs. It's prey stood her ground, taking her staff in one hand and setting the bottom firmly on the ground. Turning her body, she pointed a finger at her foe.
"Do not underestimate me, Gildersnake..." she begun bravely, turning towards the now-named Gildersnake. She elegantly placed a hand on her chest, her hair and dress flowing greatly behind her. "For I am the good witch Azura, warrior of peace!"
The now-named Azura closed her eyes and lightly brushes her hand against the rim of her hat, before closing it in a determined fist. She looked to the side awkwardly for a moment as the wind continued flowing, before aggressively dropping into a hard crouch on one knee and grabbed the thin handle near the top of her staff and grabbing the purple sleeve with her other hand, slinging the rest of the staff over her shoulder and pointing the gem at Gildersnake, a wild look in her eyes.
"NOW EAT THIS, SUCKA!" she triumphantly shouted on the top of her lungs as the gem on top of her staff started turning into a blood-red color, before firing a large ball of fire.
*BANG!*
Her body flinched from the impact of the shot, which landed directly onto the side of Gildersnake's face, which turned to one of horror and pain, rearing back in agony, mouth wide open in shock. Azura then proceeded to shoot another ball of fire into the monster, causing its body to falter backward.
*BANG!*
"NO! My only weakness!... DYING!" the now dying creature screamed in peril, its enormous body giving way and thudding loudly into the crumbling rocks below it.
"...and that's the end!" a young 14 year old girl cheerfully finished saying, lowering an Azura figurine in one hand and a small green real-life snake in the other.
She was a Dominican-American with wide, expressive, chocolatey-brown eyes, tan skin illuminated softly by the afternoon light filtering into the room through the window, dark maroon pixie-cut hair that was neat but unkempt at the same time, stopping just below her head around the middle of the back of her neck where it stuck out slightly, and two strands fell over her ears, which were pierced at the lobe by two black circular studs, brushing her cheekbones and wore a short-sleeve hoodie, which was colored light purple at the top and white at the bottom, it was slightly cropped and hung over her high-waisted blueish-gray jean shorts which covered most of her midriff, black leggings under them and a pair white slip-on shoes on her feet. But her most noticeable feature was a very colorful friendship bracelet attached to her right wrist.
She was inside a principal's office with four other people, in fact two of them are around the same age as her, a young boy sitting in a chair right next to her, another one leaning near the door, and two adults in front of her, a man and a woman both in their 40s.
The man, noticeably more older than the woman, had dark brown skin, short curly gray hair and a bushy mustache of the same color, and wore a dull light green short-sleeve dress shirt with a dull cyan neck tie. He sat at a desk, which had a card reading PRINCIPAL HAL, staring at the children clearly unimpressed, with his eyebrow quirked up and his hands resting idly on his table, clasped together.
The woman stood close to Principal Hal's table, appearing vey tired. She was another Dominican-American and looked a lot like the young girl seen previously, with an ever-so-slightly darker skin than her, dark brown hair that was tied back into a bun, two small stud earrings and large glasses with red rims at the top which slightly hid her concerned, warm brown eyes. Slung over her shoulder was a brown handbag and she wore what seems to be a nurse's uniform, a thin light blue t-shirt and thin pants the same color. She raised her arms in a bewildered question, wearing a helpless expression, looking dumbfounded at the two teenagers in front of her.
"The end of what Luz?" asked the woman in a soft, exhausted voice.
The now-named Luz looked bewildered for a moment, before looking between the two adults with a friendly smile, still holding her action figure and the live snake in front of her.
"Our book report Mami!" she stated proudly, it took her an entire month to complete after all. The energetic girl spared absolutely no details on her report, she also had a lot of fun doing it! And the fact that she needed to get a good, or at least a decent/above average, grade before school ended made her all the more motivated to put a large amount of effort on it.
The snake in her hand lunged forward with a short hiss, latching its fangs directly onto the Azura figurine. "I think we knocked it out of the park! Right William?"
The latina gestured to the person sitting beside her as everyone placed their attention towards the now-named William, Luz's childhood best friend.
He was a fair-skinned 14 year old Canadian boy with short, spiky orange hair, bright sky blue eyes that were full of life. His outfit consisted of a white t-shirt under a red long-sleeve zip-up hoodie with black leather spots on the shoulders, sleeves rolled up and zipper only reaching up to his abdomen, worn out brown jeans with numerous patches and stitches all over it, attached tightly to his waist by a dark brown belt with a gold buckle, and a pair of black velcro shoes. A cocky smirk grew on his face, over all he had a street kid charm around his atmosphere which some of the girls in his school may have found a tad bit attractive. His most noticeable feature was the bandage covering the top of his nose. 'Guess I better explain myself then.'
"Yep, we sure did. Like always!" the young boy exclaimed with plenty of enthusiasm.
Incredibly frustrated, Principal Hal brought a hand to his forehead, sighing.
"Your book report is why you two are in here!" gesturing to the window through the door that leads to a hallway, where a female student ran by screaming in terror with a green snake attached viciously to one of her pigtails, and then a male student ran by in the other direction, screaming as well with another green snake biting the back of his head. 'Honestly, what is wrong with these kids!'
The kids looked out the window for a moment. "Oh..."
"That's where the backup snakes were. Sorry about that, hehe..."the young girl quietly said with a nervous smile, while the boy next to her chuckled at her bluntness. "I tried talking William out of it, but he just wouldn't listen."
"Hey, Don't blame her about it! It was my fault for suggesting the snakes were a great idea in the first place anyways." the boy defended Luz. Sometimes he just couldn't understand why someone like Principal Hal was in charge of the school. It's not like he's a bad person or anything, just super duper strict. William did not like strict people, nor did he like being disciplined or lectured. 'Stupid old geezer... Stop making her feel guilty! It was my idea, not her's!'
"Besides, I think it adds an effect that makes you feel like your actually in mortal peril." he quickly added.
"Hmph, you think?" a cold, bitter, and sarcastic voice called out.
Everyone else present in the room looked over to the other boy who was previously seen nonchalantly leaning near the door earlier. Upon his arrival to the office, he had not spoken a single word, until now.
He was a pale-skinned American-Korean boy with jet black shaggy hair, 14 years old just like the other two kids introduced before him, although he was noticeably more taller. Not to mention, he didn't look as cheerful as them, you could tell not just from his stoic and neutral facial expression, but form his dull and dead looking eyes, which were pitch black. He wore a white long sleeve v-neck shirt, under a dark blue short sleeve hoodie, light gray shorts attached by a black belt with a silver buckle, and a pair of long white socks which came from his sneakers same color as his eyes. The most noticeable feature about him was a black leather choker around his neck. "Where did you even get so many snakes?"
"Would you look at that, finally decided to speak up, huh Maxwell. About time, you've been dead quiet since you got here an hour ago." William mockingly said back "And to answer your question, we have our ways."
"You and Noceda went to that forest I showed you guys last week, didn't you?" the now-named Maxwell deadpanned. 'So the foot prints I found there really were theirs, idiots didn't even bother trying to hide their tracks.'
Luz and William were both visibly taken off guard of how he figured out about their little adventure. Did Max secretly followed them? Did he have some sort of security camera system hidden in the forest they didn't know about? Maybe he sent someone to spy on them? Maybe God exists, and told him where they were? Who knows? "U-um... Maybe? I think?"
They were quickly interrupted by Luz's mother. "You two went to the woods! Mija, you could've gotten hurt by a dangerous animal, or a poisonous plant, or just by being in the environment itself."
Luz just stared at the floor, feeling ashamed of herself, while William defended her once more. He really didn't like it when Luz was upset or being punished for something, and he was willing to do just about anything in order to stop it. That's what friends are for, right? Hell maybe she'll even notice his huge cru-
"Again, this is all my fault. Please don't blame your daughter." the boy begged. "Don't worry, I made sure we were being careful Camila- err I mean Mrs. Noceda, she would never get hurt while I'm around."
"And what were you two planning to do with this?" asked the now-named Camila with a concerning tone to her voice and a worried face, reaching down and bringing back up in her hands what looked to be a bunch of blue and red firework rockets tied together.
A guilty expression grew on the girl's face. She slumped slightly, averting eye contact from her mom as she sighed. "That was for the act three closer."
'Jesus, it's like these guys were trying to get back at someone.' Maxwell thought, mildly shocked. He then began to feel a bit sympathetic. 'Then again, both Luz and William didn't, or more like couldn't, properly fit in society like most people. Many students, and even some of the school's staff, had a bone to pick with them just for being different.'
The woman walked up to the two teenagers, crouching in front of Luz, worriedly holding her hands out in front of her. "Mija, I love your creativity but it's gotten out of hand. Same goes for you too William."
When they didn't reply, she continued, resting her arms as she kneeled on one knee.
"Do you two remember why you were in the principal's office the last four times this school year?" She reached out a hand to her daughter sympathetically.
"They weren't that bad.." murmured William, as he and Luz thought back to their previous incidents... On second thought, they really were that bad.
(1st Flashback)
Inside the school's auditorium, William and Luz were wearing costumes for the tryouts of Romeo and Juliet, both playing their respective roles while Maxwell is in the crowd observing them from afar. He had no interest in joining but was curious to see who would permanently end up in the official play.
"Juliet, NO!" William shouted as he ran towards Luz, who was pretending to be dead, and held her body close to his chest. "Eye's as beautiful as the ocean sky, even in death there is no lie. To my love I will miss your sweet embrace, but not for long as I go and give chase."
William walked away from Luz's body, turned around and took out a bottle with fake poison in it, a fake tear ran down his face. "Here's to my love."
The boy dressed as Romeo immediately drank the fake poison and pretends to choke, adding unnecessary noises and actions, and took one last breath as his eyes roll over to the back of his head, spooking the crowd except for Maxwell, who had an blank look on his face and was simply unfazed by it all. 'These people are being over-dramatic.'
Luz then starts to wake up from her rest and saw a pretend dead William on the ground. She quickly ran over to his side as fake tears start streaming down her cheeks. "My dear Romeo, I only faked my death so I could protect you! Please don't leave me my love!"
The young latina sees a wooden dagger her friend was holding on to earlier in the play, picks it up and aimed it directly on her stomach.
"Oh happy dagger, bring me death!" she wailed dramatically, dropping to her knees and stabbing herself in the chest with the wooden fork.
*Chuck!*
The front part of her dress was torn open and great amounts of linked sausages spilled out of her Juliet costume, as she dropped to the ground with a mock dead expression. The audience ran away screaming, leaving Maxwell the only person on the seats. 'Pathetic. I can't believe those losers just ran out of here like that, it was just a couple of sausages.'
"Huh. Guess Max was right, the wooden dagger and fake guts were too much." Luz said as she stood up from the ground.
"Too much? That was perfect!" William praised as he stood up from his spot. With acting as top notch as theirs, they were definitely going to make it on the play, they just had to, right? 'Hope Principal won't find out about the trouble me and Luz just caused I'd be a bummer.'
(2nd Flashback)
Inside the classroom for arts and crafts, William and Maxwell were getting ready to present their projects, the former putting the finishing touches on his sculpture of a red and brown colored fictional male character standing on top of a dead green dragon with its guts out, showing its rib cage and heart. "And... Done."
Maxwell was trying his best to not look at his frien-acquaintance's work, needless to say he failed at doing so. "Alright that's it, just what on earth is that supposed to be?"
"Its Crimson! A male lead from Luz's The Good Witch Azura book series, standing on top of a dead dragon in all his glory..." William was quite proud of his handy work. "By the way, where's your arts and crafts project?"
"Turned it in before anyone else could see what it was, got an A+." the boy casually said.
His peer looked annoyed. "Of course you got an A+, you always do. 'Nother question, where's Luz? And what's her project?"
Maxwell jerked his thumb over to the corner of the classroom as William turns his head and sees the girl he's looking for.
Luz sat at a table and had in front of her what appeared to be a stuff-up animal with the body of a squirrel poorly sewn with pink string and glued to the head of a pigeon with its front pigeon talons curled menacingly into a claw. It stood on a short wooden pedestal with a golden plaque that said BABY GRIFFIN. She raised a finger as she took her hands off her project.
"Now for the final anatomically correct touch... Spider breath!" the girl flipped down the bottom part of its beak and dozens of tiny spiders began to pour out of its mouth. Suddenly everyone in the room, save for William and Maxwell, began screaming and throwing objects in a panic as Luz sat awaiting approval.
"That... Was... AWESOME!" William praised, he was so impressed at how her project was able to fit THAT many spiders inside of it.
"Argh, fuck." The other boy left in the room wasn't. Now he had to help contain a bunch of possibly venomous spiders, damn it Noceda.
(3rd Flashback)
Inside the school's basketball court, Luz stood wearing an orange and white colored cheerleading outfit, that was slightly revealing, as she was participating in cheerleading tryouts. William, Maxwell, and few other students, mostly female, sat down on the top bench, the former was watching intently with a blush on his face and the latter busy reading a novel titled Loveless.
She watched a girl leap in front of everyone and land a perfect backflip as everybody applauded. Luz then stood up for her turn, holding orange and white pompoms and looking around confidently with a small smile at her peers.
"You guys think that's impressive?" discarding her pompoms to the side, she turned around to hide her face, hunching over and moving her hands around it for a moment. "Take a look at... This!"
Turning around, her index fingers were moving her eyelids, which were flipped inside out, up and down on repeat. "Bleep, bloop, bleep!"
Naturally, everyone except for her only friends, ran away once again, screaming in disgust.
"Oh, you people are just overreacting! Right, William?"
'Uh oh.' William quickly covered the pink tints on his cheeks with his hands and immediately replied. "Y-yeah, overreacting! Definitely!"
"I knew I could always count on your opinion William! You were always the most honest out of all of us."
"Yep, uh huh, honest, hehe..."
Maxwell just rolled his eyes. Can't a guy just read a book in peace and quiet? Is that really so hard to ask for?
(4th and Last Flashback)
William was heading over to his and Luz's last class for the day, only to be rudely interrupted by one of the school's jocks. "Finally found you, you little shit."
"The hell do you want now! Get out of my way before I'll beat you to a pulp." William was not having any of this. Not now, not ever. 'God, I hate him so much! He's always picking on Luz and all the other unpopular students here.'
"Pay back, its about time someone taught you one last lesson before the school ends." the jock replied and turned around to the nearest student he could find in the school's hallway. "Hey you, wanna help show em who's boss around here?"
The jock was referring to Maxwell, who stood just across the other side. His eyes were closed, hands inside his pockets, an irritated expression was plastered all over his face. "nyrrgh..."
"What's nyrrgh supposed to mean, huh?" the guy was genuinely confused, who says stuff like that anyways? Fucking weirdo, maybe he'll try picking on him and some other losers later. It was the last day of school after all.
"I don't have to explain myself to someone as worthless as you. I'd be a waste of time."
"Why you, I'll-
Before the jock could finish responding, a quick and powerful punch was sent to his face, courtesy of William. Richard was immediately knocked out and fell face first unto the floor.
"Nice work distracting him Max! I kinda owe ya one now, jerk's been buggin me like crazy today."
"Hmm... I'm still going to tell Hal about this."
"Oh, come on!"
(Back to Reality)
"I know you two like to express yourselves, but there is a limit to how much you should act like this before someone gets hurt!" Principal Hal was just not having a good day today. The man then turns to the other pre-teen in the room "And Maxwell, since you will be graduating high school early, you'll need to move to another city in order to attend a college since their aren't any here at Gravesfield."
"I already know that Hal, just get to the point. I don't have all day."
Although Maxwell was the top of his class, and undeniably, the best student in the entire academy... There were times the principal was disappointed in his personality and attitude. The boy may have never been truly disrespectful, but he was always so blunt and straight forward, it irritated him sometimes. "That is Principal Hal to you, young man."
The old man then continued "Before you leave, I just want to say... Despite your very young age and rude, aloof nature... I hope you have an excellent freshmen year as a college student. Getting to college early is not an easy feat for kids your age, it is often very rare you know. Your family must be quite proud of your hard work."
The boy merely nodded his head and gave a quick thanks, although he didn't really look like he meant it. Camila then continued the principal's complaints about the other two pre-teens.
"Luz, I all love that you and your friend express yourselves so passionately..." the mother began, rustling around in her handbag. "But if you kids can't learn to separate fantasy from reality-" she continued, pulling out a gray pamphlet.
"-you may need to spend the summer here." she said gravely, turning the pamphlet and revealing it to her daughter and her friend as they read its text.
.
REALITY CHECK
SUMMER CAMP
"Think INSIDE the box."
.
Below the text was a picture of a red-head boy wearing a gray t-shirt crammed inside of a small box with an uncharacteristically wide smile spread from ear to ear on his face, giving a thumbs up to the reader.
Luz cautiously took the pamphlet from her hand, looking concerned, while William was looking extremely upset. 'That's so stupid... Ugh! I can't believe they would send her to summer camp like THAT, just for being themselves. It doesn't make any sense!'
"Don't worry, Mom..." she turned her head up with a determined smile, clutching her Azura figurine. "I won't let you down."
The girl stood up from her seat confidently, raising her figurine high in the air. "No more weirdness!"
*Hiss!*
Comedic timing ensues when the snake from one of Luz's hands breaks out of her grip and leaps out, flying through the air, latching directly onto the principal's face as he fell out of his seat onto the ground yelling in pain as everyone else looked down horrified, except for William who laughed out loud, thinking it was one of the most funniest things he has ever seen in his life. "Haha, payback ya old geezer!"
"Holy shit." Maxwell quietly muttered with his eyes slightly widened, a bit surprised at what just happened. Your principal getting attacked by a snake wasn't normal, not normal at all. Then again with Luz and William around when was anything normal.
Luz looked back at her mother very nervously. "That doesn't count, right?"
'Next 3 months are going to be the worst.' Luz sighed, sadly standing outside of her small house with the drowsy morning light complimenting her sad expression, a beige-colored backpack with a few pins, one being a drawing of a bird skull, on her back. Her shoulders were slumped as she stared at the ground. 'At least I'll have Willie to keep me company. Though I kinda wish Max could come along with us, the guy's always so lonely...'
After seeing Camila's disappointment and clear motive to try and get Luz to fit in, Luz reluctantly agreed to go to this summer camp to make her mom proud. It was with good intentions, right? Her mom had only been trying to help, after all. She hated being forced to go to some summer camp to try and get her to act "normal", but after her mom had paid for the camp and wanted nothing but the best for her daughter, Luz could at least give it a shot, right? It was a chance to fit in with all the other kids her age.
Her mother stepped out the front door and closed it, approaching her. She walked down the front steps and down the rocky path to the sidewalk.
"Oh, my baby." she cooed affectionately. Camila leaned down, hugging her daughter firmly but gently with a hum. The girl didn't reciprocate the hug, her sad posture not changing. Her mother pulled away with a hand placed gently on her back, smiling softly. "Now don't worry, summer camp is only going to be for 3 months. You'll be so busy balancing checkbooks... And learning to..."
She tried to find the right words, taking her hand off her daughter's back as Luz looked at her and back at the ground sadly. "Appreciate public radio, the time will fly by!"
Luz looked down at the ground as her grip on the bottom of her cat hoodie tightened.
"But I don't like any of that stuff! I like editing anime clips to music, and reading fantasy books with convoluted backstories." the young girl protested sadly, pulling one of her Azura books out of her handbag, clinging onto it, frowning. She tried explained to her mami that nothing she said sounded intriguing and that she didn't even like that kind of stuff. She liked being who she was, and albeit weird, she liked doing what she was doing now and didn't want to be someone she's not.
"Mija, your fantasy world is holding you back." her mother replied sternly, but sympathy dwelled in her eyes. "Aside form William and maybe that other boy who's moving, do you have any friends? Real ones, not imagined, or drawn... Or reptilian?"
The woman's daughter seemed to frown even more, lowering the book in front of her face and staring down at the cover as she slowly but surely began making her way to the open garbage can outside their house. Camila spoke gently, watching her daughter sadly. "Summer camp is a chance to make more friends, it will work. You just have to try."
Luz's mother smiled lightly, tilting her head a bit to the side and bringing her hand up to her heart as the young girl stood hesitantly in front of the garbage can. "Can you do that?"
"Yes, mom." The teenager answered, gently placing her book into the trash can. Her mother watched her sympathetically and proudly. Suddenly, there was the faint hum of a phone buzzing, and she hastily pulled her smartphone out from her pocket and her smile faltered as she looked at the phone's screen.
"Oh, I got to go to work," she said, walking over to her daughter as she leaned down, kissing her on the side of her head several times, gently holding her by the shoulders. When she let go, the girl still looked sad and unresponsive. "Your bus is coming soon. Text me when you get there. Cuídate mucho, mija. ¡Qué te vaya bien!"
With one last gentle touch under her daughter's chin, she walked past her and began heading to work. The latina remained slouched, the frown still not replaced. "Bye, mom."
After half a minute, someone suddenly shouted. "LUUUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZ!"
Said girl being called turned to her left and saw two boys. William ran over to her as fast as he possibly could, bringing along an old-looking brown sling bag with him. Maxwell, who brought a black backpack and two black duffel bags with him, only jogged to conserve more stamina and energy, pacing himself and keeping up with the canadian boy.
"William, what are you doing here! The bus should've picked you up on the other side of town where you live!" the shocked 14 year old said as she quickly hugged him and then looked at Maxwell. "And Max, shouldn't you be waiting at the train station for your ride? What's going on?"
"To hell with it! I am not going to some stupid ol' boring reality check camp, and neither are you." William bravely declared. "I came her to talk your mom out of it, I even brought Max along so he could reason with Mrs. Noceda."
"Brought? More like you dragged me along." He turned to lazily meet eye to eye with Luz. "Just so you know, I'm only helping out because I owe him one. That, and the idiot might get in trouble if he does this by himself."
"Aww, you guys." Luz's demeanor lightened up a bit as she no longer slouched. "You didn't have to do this... But before we catch up with mami, first-"
She suddenly reached over and began frantically searching through the garbage can, most likely searching for the book she just threw a minute ago, but panic slowly but surely became evident on her face. "Where is it? WHERE IS IT!"
"Woah! Why are you-"
*Hoo-h'HOO-hoo-hoo!*
The loud sound of an owl hooting broke through William's question, currently catching everyone's attention. And when they searched for where the sound came from, the kids saw her book tucked neatly into a little brown sack along with numerous other miscellaneous items, being held carefully by a tiny brown owl with two large golden eyes. They watched in alarm as the tiny creature began hopping away, dragging the sack containing the book with it, unable to fly with how heavy the weight of the book must've been.
Maxwell pinched himself, now thinking he was inside a dumb dream the whole time. 'What the fu-'
"Hey! That luz's, give it back. NOW!" William jumped over the trashcan and tried to hit it hard using his sling bag only for the owl to fly out of the way. Luz gasped, but her expression quickly changed from surprised to angry.
"Get back here! You tiny, trash thief!" she yelped, giving chase to the tiny owl who somehow stole her book.
William immediately followed after her no questions asked, while Maxwell tried catching up to the other two. "Hey! Damn it, wait up!
They continued pursuing after their little brown thief, but stopped in their tracks as a large abandoned building came into view. The wind ominously blew around the three as they stared up at the old broken down shack made out of wood, feeling fear building up inside them. The windows were broken, the roof had massive holes in it, and the door was wide open. All in all, it looked liked it could've been a real haunted house, this did not stop the owl though, as it continued hopping up the steps of the shack, disappearing into the dark abyss of the doorway.
Before anything happens, Maxwell tightly placed his a hand on Luz's left shoulder with firm grip, looking slightly concerned. "You sure you want to go through with this Noceda? You might end up missing the bus for all I care."
Hesitating, the girl suddenly felt smaller than normal, but she wasn't going to give up that easily.
"Yeah, I spent a lot of my time and earnings to get that volume!" Luz growls with determination in her eyes, summoning her courage the best she could. "Are any of you with me?"
"We've been with you for a long time now Luz, so might as well continue doing it. Birds of a feather, stick together after all!" William grinned, taking a step towards the door. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go already!"
They all looked at each other, nodding their heads at the same time as they ran through the door, now inside the shack.
The wind picked up outside, and as they disappeared into the darkness of the building, the door slammed shut, and less than a split second later, a blinding golden flash and a loud sound came from inside of the shack, glowing lights beaming through the windows. Then the lights faded, as quickly as it appeared.
