Evilshipping (Rebecca Hopkins/Yami no Bakura/Yami no Marik)
. . .
((AU where Rebecca is on the blimp during Battle City idfk someone release me from my suffering))
. . .
Of course, her first reason for being here was to support her darling Yugi in his big tournament. She hadn't managed to get a hold of enough locator cards in time herself (because she had gotten distracted picking apart her new Duel Disk and trying to figure out how it worked), but at least she had run into Yugi! And he, of course, qualified for the semi-finals with flyingcolors, and now she was able to join everyone in cheering him on!
But also, this was a KaibaCorpblimp and if the technology in the Duel Disk had been fascinating, her fingers were absolutely itching to get a chance to pick at some of the computers on board this thing. What was going on at KaibaCorp in development that she didn't know about yet? The software in the Duel Disk was revolutionary, and Rebecca was determined to see if she couldn't hack into KaibaCorp and see what other fascinating toys they had on the way. Her own computer had gotten kicked out by the firewall, but if she could get in from one of the blimp computers? Kaiba should have really just hired her when he'd had the chance, but his stupid interviewing staff had kicked her out when she showed up, even though her resume was perfect.
Anyway, she just had to try and sneak in to the computer room. It was nighttime, and everyone should be either asleep or looking after the people that had passed out during the duel today. Rebecca felt a little guilty not being there, but she was sure the doctors would be more effective anyway.
She crept down the long white hallway, trying not to let her sneakers squeak on the floor. Kaiba certainly made this place big, for a blimp. Seemed kind of unnecessary, but that was Kaiba for you.
She paused briefly when she heard voices inside one room, but tried to keep going quickly, so as not to disturb anyone. At least, until she heard someone say "kill the pharaoh."
She froze. Had she...imagined that?
She must have, right? Who would be saying things like that? Unless maybe they were doing some weird gaming thing. But then again, there was the coincidence that her darling Yugi said he had the spirit of a pharaoh in his Puzzle, and Rebecca was certain she had met the spirit at least once or twice, staring out of Yugi's eyes.
But no one else would really know that, right? She should just keep going, quickly, before—
The door slid open and she squeaked, clapping her hands over her mouth, but there wasn't anywhere to hide in this long hallway and—
Wait, was that Bakura? Wasn't he unconscious?
The boy hesitated in the doorway, a smirk falling off of his face as he caught sight of Rebecca. A flicker of irritation rolled over his eyes, and all at once, Rebecca knew with a sinking feeling her stomach this isn't Bakura-kun.
"Oi, what's the hold up, I thought we were going to the roof," said another, foreign sounding voice. Wasn't that...that guy called Marik or something? The Arab guy?
But when the owner of the voice shoved his shoulder against Bakura to come through into the hallway, she had the same feeling that this wasn't the Marik that had been up on the blimp roof after the fake Marik had gotten shocked with lighting from Ra. His hair was huge and spiky and his eyes cold and flat.
She had the same odd feeling she had with Yugi when she thought someone else was looking out of his eyes, only this was worse. Her skin crawled and she wanted to scream, to be anywhere but here, getting eyed by two beings that felt like ravenous sharks about to rip her apart.
"Oh my, was there a mouse in here?" Marik sneered, looking...predatory, if Rebecca had to put a word to it. "I hope the little mouse wasn't listening..."
Bakura waved a hand.
"It would be a bother if someone were to notice she disappeared, don't you think?" he said. "I thought we were going to the roof to duel for our stakes."
Marik actually lickedhis lips, but he shrugged.
"Fine," he said. "Nothing to stop me after you're gone, though, Bakura-kun."
Rebecca edged backwards—this wasn't worth getting into Kaiba's computers. If she screamed, would anyone hear her, or would they all be asleep? Would she even have time to scream if they came after her?
But then Marik turned around.
"I'll be waiting upstairs," he said. "Tell the little mousie that she can expect a visit from me later."
He disappeared with a flip of his cloak down the hall, leaving just Rebecca and Bakura for a moment. Bakura considered her for a long, long moment, rubbing his chin briefly.
"I'd suggest you watch your step...and your ears," he said. "Have a nice night."
Then he, too, turned, and left her, leaving Rebecca alone and shaking in the hallway.
She would love to go back to her room but...
They had both gone back that way.
She shuddered, and decided she could hole up in the computer room for now anyway. Tomorrow, she sure as hell wasn't going far from Yugi's side...
