A Bad Start

Spyro saw them the next morning, above the gates. Inferno, Flame, and Ember were traveling toward the center of Warfang, toward the Guardian temple. Spyro was out training for having to teach the new fire guardians, as Terrador and Cyril saw him as a good teacher, especially since he had mastered the art of Fire Spyro brought Cynder, who was watching him (from a safe distance, at Spyro's reccomendation) train.

"I wonder what these new Guardians will be like." wondered Cynder aloud as they traveled to the Guardian temple.

Inferno landed and saw Terrador, Cyril, and Volteer coming out to greet him. "Hello old friends." Inferno greeted.

"The pleasure is all ours." Terrador replied. Cyril turned and saw Spyro and Cynder come in for a landing. They landed so quietly that Inferno did not see Cynder.

"I hear that Ignitus has passed on?" Inferno questioned.

"Yes, his death was hard on us all." replied Volteer sadly.

"Well, these two dragons are..." Inferno started, but he turned to see Spyro and Cynder. His eyes hardened when he saw Cynder, and once he saw her eyes, he recognized them, and his thoughts turned to the Terror of the Skies and the times they had fought, and instinctively threw a punch at her. Right before Cynder was hit, Spyro pushed her out of the way, and Inferno's massive punch hit him, sending him backward, his claws scraping the ground for grip before hitting the side of a building, hitting his back hard. Cyril saw this and instantly froze Inferno into place.

"What was that for, Inferno?" growled Terrador, as he got into a fighting stance.

"Terror...(shiver) of the...Skies." replied Inferno, still frozen in ice until he melted the ice, and turned to Cynder.

Spyro bolted over there despite his back now screaming in pain from where he hit the building. "Stop now!" he said, with Ice blades forming on his paw that were crackling with lightning, his mouth steaming with fire, and earth cracking around him. "If you are an enemy of Cynder, than you are an enemy of me!" he roared.

"And if you are an enemy of Spyro, you are an enemy of us!" growled Cyril, Terrador, and Volteer, their elements jolting to life.

Inferno watched this, and stood down. The rest of the Guardians calmed down. "So...these two down there are your candidates." Cyril growled, still tense.

Inferno nodded, and Spyro noticed Flame looked at Cynder with a small look of venom, and Ember was static, seemingly frozen as she looked at Spyro.

"I will show them to their living quarters at once. Their training begins tommorow. Spyro will be their first teacher in fire combat." Terrador said firmly to Inferno, and he nodded silently, and flew off. Ember and Flame bowed to the Guardians. For reference, Ember and Flame were the same size as Spyro and Cynder. Flame was red with golden chestplates and wing membranes. Ember was pink with yellow membranes and breastplate.

"Actually Terrador," started Volteer, "I think it would be prudent to see their level of power now, so that we know their skill level so that we can experimentially see where our lessons will improve them.".

"Good idea Volteer." replied Terrador. He beckoned for Ember and Flame to follow him to the courtyard, where they would be facing Spyro as a team. The reason for this was because Spyro had the advantage in Elemental prowess, but they had the advantage in numbers. Spyro got ready as Ember and Flame got into posistons.

A little information on the two candidates: Ember was a student in the Inferni Academy, where she had specialized massively in long range combat, where she used her inane precision to nab opponents from far away, while being out of the line of fire. She did have some close combat skills, and could certainly hold someone off for a while, but it was not her preferred style. She was above average in terms of focusing fire. She was able to melt metal from a single shot of fire.

Flame was in contrast. He was trained at the Flareus Academy where he had specialized in close combat and battle power. He used grappling techniques. His distance attackes were more over a wide range of attacks, like walls instaed of concentrated shot's like ember. He had perfected the comet dash, and was working on perfecting somethng called, "blue fire" where it was so hot it turned blue. Blue fire is especially hard to use, so it was surprising when Flame had learned to use the technique.

At the fight, Ember took a posistion on a nearby column, and Flame locked his talons into the ground to get a good grip so he could launch at Spyro.

Soon, the fight had begun. As expected, Flame used his comet dash to come up on Spyro. Spyro barely had time to dodge. He used Dragon time and bolted to Flame's side and rammed him. Flame was knocked out of his dash. Spyro went foward but a shot from Ember hit him in the side. Spyro growled and turned to face her. He used ice to cover the entire arena, except for the place he was standing. He sent a current of lightning through the Ice, and shocked Ember and flame. But flame was charging an attack, but when it his Spyro, it was fire and lightning.

Somehow, Spyro's lightning had combined with Flame's fire. Spyro started spinning in a new move, and around him was a sphere of fire. He then sent Ice into the air, where it evaporated, but turned into a fog that created a mist over the arena. Spyro moved around in the fog, taking advantage of the low visibility, and using the earth to tell where evryone else is. Flame was starting to lose his temper, and he roared, and a wave of fire shot out from him, but this fire, was blue.

Flame would have won if he had been able to keep going, but the wave of fire had drained him of all available stamina and he passed out from drain. Spyro had only been able to stop the fire at the last second, with his earth boulder, the fire was so hot, some of it turned into glass. Ember continued to shoot her fire, but it was no use. Spyro put her down with a lightning bolt. Spyro had won, but he was a bit injured. Flame and Ember were taken away and Spyro was able to be healed by a red gem.

"So Volteer? What do you think of the two candidates?" Spyro asked Volteer.

"Well, it was certainly interesting that Flame was able to use blue fire, which is quite advanced." replied Volteer. For info, there is a blue variant of every element, which is vastly more powerful han the normal phase of elements. A little tidbit of information though, it is possible from somebody of a different element to learn different elemental techniques, as in, a fire dragon can use ice. This however takes decades to do, so that is why the purple dragon is so special. They can master all elements easily. Theoretically, it would be possible for a dragon to become something akin to a purple dragon in about 100 years. It takes 25 years to fully develop each elemental tecnique.

Later in the day, Ember was released from the infimary, although she was a little skittish. She walked down the hall of the temple and saw Spyro training, using all four elements in unison. She watched as he dispatched training dummies one, after another, and was transfixed.

Ember felt her heartbeat raise highly. "Hey." she heard a voice call. She turned and saw Cynder walking toward her. "I have something to ask you." said Cynder.

"Funny, I have something to ask you as well." replied Ember.

"What were you doing here?" asked Cynder.

"I was simply exploring when I found Spyro. I just wanted to watch, which brings me to my question. Are you and Spyro together?".

"What?" asked Cynder, she was confused as she had not seen this question coming.

"Are you and Spyro lovers?" Ember asked.

Cynder's face turned beet red, by embarrasment, and what she was saying implied something, "No." she answered.

"Okay, than Spyro is open. Goodbye." Ember said and quickly sped off.

Cynder growled something unintelligible and red mist started to surround her. She looked at Spyro as she left. "I hope he feels the same way I did, I wish he had heard me." she thought to herself.

Spyro was training while in his mind he thought, "I wish I had the courage to tell her that I heard what she said, and that I feel the same way.".

Luin was hungry, he walked across the landscape that he had gone to. It was where the belt of fire had once stood. He looked around, and saw a small deer in the wasteland. He thought and instantly, one of his horns curved, extended like a spike, and stabbed the deer, killing it instantly. Luin smiled. "Once I use that on a dragon, I will be a lot happier.".

Cynder was in her room.It wasn;t that different from Spyro's, except her banners were of her elements, and her bed was a different color, and she had a bit more books. She didn't really need the extra books, because Malefor may have been the Dark master, but he wasn't that bad of a teacher. he had educated her in diverse languages, mythology, battle tactics, and other subjects. That was the one good thing that Cynder reflected on. Sparx was in the room, and Cynder had just told him about her run in with Ember.

"Yeesh Cynder. Looks like we have a catfight." he said.

"A what fight?" asked Cynder.

"A cat fight, when two girls fight for the affection of the same boy." replied Sparx.

"Do you know how I can tell him. Can you tell him for me?" asked Cynder.

"No." replied Sparx sternly, "If you are going to tell Spyro that you love him, it has to be from you. If you rely on somebody else, than people say you don't truly love them. You have to face your fears if you want to love him.".

Cynder nodded. She curled up because it was a getting late. She didn't expect to get much sleep that night.

Malefor sat in a cave on a floating island, reading the history of the dark master. He read that the Dark Master wasn't a title, but an entity that used dragons to carry out it's horrible will. It desired nothing else but to destroy the world. The spirit would tempt the dragon with power, or just forcefully take one of it didn't have a host. Malefor had been looking for ways to increase his power when the spirit had corrupted him. There were ways to resist the corruption, but there was only one way to defeat the Dark master for good, but that page was ripped. it only showed the words, "Horn o..." and that was it. Malefor growled.

"There is only two people in the world who can help me take down the dark master. Although, this might be difficult due to my past, like Cynder which I unfortunately could not prevent. Now I will feel how it feels to be judged because of my past. Malefor flew downward toward the city of Warfang, where he knew trouble would arise. He looked at the gates that blocked him. He saw a guard that saw him and raised his spear.

"I would like to speak with Spyro and Cynder.".

Thanks for reviews. Last day of summer, so I wanted to get this done. I know Ember vs Cynder has been done to death, but hey, it's good material. PEACE!
