(A/N) Yep I know

I'm super duper late with this chapter.

First week I had every birthday under the sun, the following week I was sick and my daughter kept taking my phone and now I just pushed everything aside so I can finally sit down and write in peace.

I hope everyone is enjoying the story so far though and I know Adrien cheating looks bad but I got it all planned out where guilt won't be an issue near the end. I just didn't want to explain that and spoil the storyline before it happened but I know some people are getting frustrated about the whole affair so I had to clear it up before I got attacked again.

Anyways enjoy...

"YOU DID WHAT?" Alya's voice screamed from the other end of the phone, causing the bluenette to pull away and cover the speaker with her hand.

Onlookers passed her, obviously hearing the reporters high pitched voice and the way she moved away to protect her ear drum from bursting.

"Alya, the whole of Paris doesn't need to hear you scream." Marinette whispered in embarrassment, her cheeks turning pink at the weird looks she was recieving. "It's not a big deal anyways."

Marinette swung open the door to the fabric shop, waving to the person behind the counter before proceeding through the ile of piles and piles of the material.

"Not a big deal? Girl you agreed to make a wedding dress for the girl who is marrying Adrien Agreste! The Adrien Agreste! Thats a major big deal!" The reporter screeched.

Unrolling a few different fabrics from the rack to compare each one, Marinette tucked her phone between her shoulder to hold it steady.

"First of all, Adrien is my friend so I don't get how that is a big deal and second, Bethany is sweet, she's going to make him very happy!"

Marinette was certain Alya didn't believe the words that were coming out of her mouth. Even though they were partly true she was even questioning them herself.

"Besides its better I stay single, that way no one will question why I had to disappear when danger comes crawling back again." She sadly stated.

"Oh girl, you deserve someone to love you, heck if I wasn't marrying Nino I would turn lesbian for you in a heart beat." Alya claimed confidently.

"Maybe I shouldn't of set you up with Nino then. I could of had you all to myself." Marinette laughed.

"Dont tempt me girl, just say the word and the wedding is cancelled."

Shuffling was heard on the phone before another voice cut in. "Hey! I thought you loved me."

"Oh honey, I do." Alya giggled, kissing her partner before she could hear more shuffling and Nino's voice get further away. "I just love Marinette more."

She heard a faint sigh and fake sobbing in the background before everyone broke out into laughter. Alya really knew how to cheer her up even if Nino suffered in the process.

Sorry Nino.

Once the two had settled down their giggles the shop attended asked Marinette if there was anything she needed, but the girl politely declined, telling her she was still looking around.

"You know Marinette, if this gets too much, you can say no. I'm sure Adrien will understand." Alya tried to reason with her.

Marinette felt guilty enough as it was and making this girls dress was just the beginning of fixing her mistake, she felt obligated to do it.

"I'm fine Alya, really." Marinette reassured her.

"Okay, okay, just make sure you are still available for this weekend."

"This weekend?" Marinette questioned.

"Yeah." Alya dragged the word as to make it obvious for the bluenette what she was talking about. "Luka told you about it last night?"

"Oh, Kitty Section. Right! It must of slipped my mind." Marinette finally clicked. "Y-yeah, I'll defiantly be there."

"Do I have to set a reminder on your phone the next time I see you?" Alya questioned.

"You dont have to, I won't forget, I promise!" Marinette begged.

"Fine." Alya surrendered. "You're off the hook, only because I got an interview with Chat Noir and if I'm not there my boss will have my head."

Chat Noir, she didn't know he was in town again.

"Dont worry, i'll see if he's single for you." Alya chimed in while Marinette was still deep in thought. "He did have a thing for you." She added with a small chuckle.

"What? Alya, No..." The phone went dead silent and Marinette let out a few curses under her breath.

Alya better not ask him that, oh she would die from embarrassment and would never want to see him again if she did.

Chat Noir didn't need to know how horrible her life had turned out, especially after years of rejecting his advances. He would surely state to her that they could've been married by now, with a house and three kids with a hamster named...

"Are you okay dear?" The lady asked at the checkout making Marinette blink a few times to register how she got there in the first place.

"Oh yes, sorry." She apologised. "How much was that again?"

"Need a hand Princess?"

"Chat! What are you doing here?" The bluenette squeaked, jumping slightly in the process.

Marinette had her hands full with rolls of fabric to the brim. Chat Noir was running along the rooftops to get to his interview with Alya when he could hear a familar voice, apologizing to the people she was passing by.

It wasn't until Marinette tripped over the gutter and everything went flying in all directions that Chat intervene, helping the bluenette pick up the material in a swift motion.

Still the old clumsy Marinette. He laughed to himself.

"I was going to see the ladyblogger and heard a damsel in distress on my way through." Chat grinned, holding the fabric like it was nothing as he walked beside the girl.

Marinette rolled her eyes at him. "I'm not a damsel and I'm not in distress." She pointed out. "Don't you have someone else to annoy, like say, a girlfriend?"

Marinette knew she was stepping into dangerous waters with this. One look his way and their eyes connected, locking onto each other and all Marinette could see was sadness in his eyes?

"I guess you could say that." He answered unsteadily, looking away from her.

Marinette shook her head out of those awful thoughts when he had spoke. "Oh." This broke her heart a little and she didn't understand why.

Now that was two blonde boys that were completely unavaliable. Alya was going to be very disappointed with that too when she heard of the news.

Not that she cared, why was she caring?

"Yeah." He said slowly.

Curiosity was eating at her when she spoke. "Ladybug is one lucky girl." She replied with a smirk, a hint of jealousy hidden in her tone.

Marinette knew it wasn't her he was talking about but asking might give her some insight on the matter. Her alter-ego wouldnt be able to get any answers out of him if she asked.

Heck with the way she was all business being Ladybug and refuse to learn any information previously from him, she doubt he would be willing to share any information now.

"Actually it's not her."

"Oh? I thought you two were very close. Sorry I just ashumed..."

"No, no, we are and I guess there is always a spot for her in my heart..." Chat's voice veered off.

"Does your girlfriend know you're a superhero?" Marinette question, wanting to see if he was willing to keep the secret.

"No, she doesn't." He said slowly with all honesty, his feline ears flattening on his blonde hair. "Another secret I have to add to the pile I guess."

Marinette knew exactly what he meant by that, feeling more guilty of what she had done to Adrien and his relationship and the secrets they're keeping hidden.

This is why she chose to stay single, so she didn't have to keep secrets from anybody. It destroyed her relationship with Luka and he was a patient guy, not many people were like that!

You could say she gotten lucky in that way.

"I guess every relationship has it secrets." She shrugged.

As soon as those words left her mouth she felt like banging her head against a brick wall. She really needed to hold her tounge.

"Sorry." She quickly shook her free hand up in panic. "I didn't mean... I guess... I'll just be quiet now." The bluenette gave into her word vomit and cringed.

Could the ground just swollow her already?

He chuckled. "Don't be sorry, it's not your fault."

Oh but it was and neither of them knew.

They walk at ease beside each other, getting a lot of strange looks their way but that didn't disturb either of them from their conversation.

"Well, this is me." Marinette hummed, rocking on the balls of her feet.

She grabbed the fabric out of Chat's hands before he got a word in and walked up to the doorway that lead to her work.

"You don't need help?" He looked at her with a raised mask, noticing her struggle to get the door open with her keys.

Help did sound nice but Alya would kill her if she found out he was helping her while she was waiting for his arrival.

Oh she wouldn't hear the end of it.

"I'm okay, really." She struggled under the pile of fabric. "You better get going, Alya would have my head if she found out I kept you."

And interagate me. She thought.

He checked his baton and gasped, knowing he was running very late for the interview and it wouldn't be just Marinette's head she would have.

Even if he was the superhero of Paris he didn't want to take that chance.

"You're right Princess, I got to run."

He ran to her and planted a kiss to her cheek without giving a second thought. Marinette squeaked at the contact and stumbled over her own feet, once the door swung open. Rolls of fabric were rolling through the doorway and spreading across the front entrance of her work.

"Great." She groaned. Now she had the joy of cleaning all this up!

The store had been open for a few hours and Marinette had to be ushered out from behind the register to take her lunch break. Which she kept insisting she wasnt hungry.

Finally after some persuasion, Marinette retreated in the back room where all the stock was stored.

She had created her own little corner where she could fix clothes that had loose thread or do some of her side work when the shop wasn't so busy.

She wouldn't admit it to anyone but she sometimes wish the shop wouldn't be so busy so she could get carried away in her other work.

But how else would she pay the bills?

With pins in her mouth and her eyebrows furrowed, concentrating on a piece she was making for Chloe. Marinette got startled when her phone started making a ringing sound and vibrating on her desk.

Picking the device up while it was face down, she was sure she had put it on silent before coming into work today. It was only her luck it hadn't sounded off sooner.

Looking at the number, Marinette didn't recognise it. She placed down the dress on the spare chair beside her and placed the pins out of her mouth so she could answer without any interruptions.

Once she picked the device back up, the call had ended and Marinette huffed in irritation. She really had to figure out how to get her phone to ring longer.

Before she could call the unknown number back a message appeared on her screen, notifying her that whoever just called left a voice message.

At least all hope wasnt lost.

She really hope it wasnt Bethany. The girl was great and all but there was only so much she could deal with right now and hearing the girl two days in a row would probably drive her to insanity.

Guilt would defiantly play a part and old Marinette wouldn't be able to hold her tongue long enough.

The irritation of automated women rang in Marinette's ear and she was glad she had the patience not to end the call right then and there.

How someone can sound so robotic and slow but also chipper was just beyond her. They really needed to change it up a bit.

"You have one new message."

Here we go. Marinette braced herself for the chirpy voice that was about to come.

"Hey Marinette... it's me, Adrien." Marinette let out an audible gasp once he had said his name, not expecting the blonde at all. "I wanted to talk to you about the other night." His voice seem to be low and nervous. "...But we couldn't. I think we should talk about it? Don't you?" The message went silent for a few moments and Marinette was about to end the call before his voice sounded again. "Just call me when you can, I should be free all day."

Well there it was, they were finally facing the music.

She dialed his number back before thinking about it and leaned into her office chair, feeling it move around with her weight.

"Marinette." Her name rolled off his tongue straight away, completely skipping the greetings.

"Adrien." She replied almost breathless.

"Thanks for calling. I was starting to think I wasn't going to hear from you after last night." He sounded genuinely happy that she called but she could tell there was a bit of worry underlying in his tone.

"Yeah I... sorry about that I didn't know what to say, seeing you was just... something else." She slowly said the last two words as if she was stepping on eggshells.

"Yeah it was... something else." He repeated. "I didn't mean to spring Bethany onto you like that, I know she can be... full of energy sometimes." He too was sounding like he was stepping on eggshells.

"No, she's great." Marientte reassured, her voice hitting a higher pitch then before. "I just didn't know she was coming back with you."

Now she felt guilt creeping up again. Oh how she had just spent the night with him while his fiance was at home waiting.

Now she felt like she was going to be sick or was that just because she skipped out on lunch? She didn't know anymore.

"She wasnt meant to." Adrien had answered her really fast, as if to assure her. "I... she wasnt meant to be here until Nino's wedding and when she turned up that morning it was a bit of a surprise." Now the worry was adamant in his tone.

Marinette sighed in relief, well it wasnt really relieving but it was one less thing she had to worry about.

"Oh." She peeped. "Its okay, she's great. You really picked a keeper there."

What the hell was she doing? Marinette really wanted to kick herself for even saying that! What was her mouth doing to her? It already got her into enough trouble as it was and now this.

She might as well bury herself alive at this stage.

"Yeah I guess." Was he hesitating on his decision? "So, how do you feel?" His voice becomes lower as he continues.

"How do I feel?" Marinette repeated the question.

Does he expect me to bring up the incident? Marinette thought, her fingers lightly drumming on the desk.

"How do you feel about... that night?" He asked.

Her younger self would of fainted if she knew her older self got a one night stand with Adrien Agreste, but her older self was tossed between it being the best night of her life and being the worse night.

With her being silent and thinking on an answer, Adrien continued. "Do you feel guilty?"

She almost scoffs at the question. "Of course I do!" That she can answer honestly. "Dont you?"

"Well, yeah." He sounded unsure. "It should never of happened." Marinette felt her heart drop in the pit of her stomach from his answer.

"Why did it happen?" Marinette blurts out and instantly recoils when the words leave her mouth.

She could hear him about to answer her question but she wasn't quite sure she wanted to hear it.

Not just yet anyways.

So she interrupts him. "Uhhh... never mind, I wasn't thinking when I told you I had a crush on you and you were probably drunk, we did have a few drinks and..."

"I wasn't drunk Marinette." He finally cuts into her rambling.

She wasn't quite sure she heard him right so she gets him to repeat himself.

"I wasn't drunk." He says slowly this time. "Yeah I had a few drinks but I knew exactly what I was doing when I kissed you."

The bluenette let's out another audible gasp, feeling a bit lighter that he knew what he was doing and it was on his own free will to take that step with her.

All the air in her lungs felt like it exited all at the same time.

"I hope you don't think I'm a bad person Marinette but I don't do this, I never do this." He quickly corrected himself.

"I know." Marinette blurted out again.

She now had to write down to buy some tape so she didn't go word vomiting everytime she spoke to Adrien.

Or anyone for that matter.

"You know?" The blonde repeats.

"Well we were friends before this right?" She quickly covers. "I know you would never hurt someone unintentionally and if you did you would feel guilty about it."

"But I don't feel guilty." He tells her honestly.

If Adrien were to see her now her mouth would be gaping like a fish out of water. There is no way he had just said that to her after they had clarified it was wrong.

"I think I wanted it to happen... you know?" He continued.

To some extent, Marinette really wanted to agree with him but to another she felt bad for even feeling good.

If that made any sense.

"Of course I'm well aware it can never happen again." He hesitates for a moment. "Right?"

He was almost asking her approval to shut this thing; what ever it was they had, down. Why did she have to be the one in this position?

"Right." She agrees, making sure he doesn't hesitate on his relationship with Bethany again. "It was a mistake."

"Yes. A mistake." He repeated, almost sadden from her answer but someone had to be the adult around here.

"Yes."

This conversation really wasn't going anywhere.

"Look Adrien, I have to get back to work..."

"Oh yeah, sorry. I didn't mean to keep you I just..."

"Its okay, I'm glad we cleared this up." Marinette said, knowing it didn't really clear anything up at all.

"Me to." Adrien replied with a happier tone.

"Okay, well... have a good day." Marinette smiled, knowing he couldn't see it.

"You too. Bye Marinette."

The phone call finally ended and Marinette relaxed back in her seat, letting out a shaky breath she didn't realise she was holding in.

She looked back at her phone and notice they had been talking for a good twenty minutes, it felt like hours in her opinion.

Well it was time to head back into work. On an empty stomach as well.

Great!
