The op to bring in both Ruiz and Manny had gone as smoothly as they could have hoped for, Bravo's team had maintained their cover, as had Mandy and everyone on their side had walked away with only a few scrapes. However the situation of maintaining all of their covers meant there had been no communication between their team and Mandy post take-down. Davis had maintained some discreet communication with their chief of police contact and her Interpol contact but the last Jason had seen of Mandy was her being cuffed and thrown into the back of a police van in a way that looked a little too realistic for his liking.

He had been crawling the walls ever since and it had taken a lot of persuasion from Davis and Ray combined to get him on a flight back to the US. It was only when Davis confirmed that Mandy had been flown to Europe that Jason agreed staying put was pointless. He didn't particularly want to head home either but with no intel yet on where she was, VA beach was as good a place to pace back and forth as any.

Back at base Davis was sat head down at the conference table when Jason walked in. "Any news?" He asks taking off his cap and sitting opposite her scrunching it nervously in his hands.

"Finally I think we do" Davis says brightly but then her face thinks better of it and returns to a more serious look

"What was that face? Is this good or bad news Davis? Come on tell me straight?" He looks worried

"OK. So it looks like interpol and the CIA finally felt they'd planted enough seeds to convince those that needed to be that Eva has been arrested and they've created some cover that includes her turning on her cheating fraudster husband for a sweet deal, allowing her to disappear into anonymity..."

"That's good then? That means she can come home" Jason says hopefully

"Yes. Thing is today I received some information that I'm trying to verify without sending up any beacons that might undo that careful cover story…"

"And that information is?…" Jason prompts impatiently

"That a woman matching Mandy's description, under the care of interpol agents was admitted to a hospital in Madrid a couple of days ago" Davis looks across waiting for Jason's reaction

He is on his feet fists on table "She's in the hospital? Why? What happened? Davis? Is she OK?"

"I honestly have no more information than that, I'm still trying to verify that it's even Mandy, Jason but if it is her then it seems she's still there."

It took another day before Davis could work some magic and a bunch of favours to get Jason the OK to travel to Spain in an unofficial capacity. "Take some holidays, you're overdue and I hear Spain is beautiful" were Lindells words as he sent Jason on his way "…but if I hear your name mentioned in an official capacity by anyone in a Spanish accent at any time in the next couple of weeks then we are going to have problems OK Master Chief?" Jason had nodded in understanding before grabbing his bag and the plane ticket that Davis had already printed for him.

Lindell was right, Spain was beautiful and hot as hell. Cities in the heat were one of Jason's least favourites. Top place went to jungles, especially ones that included Sonny complaining about animals that can kill you. But cities in the summer were stifling, sweaty and made your skin feel gritty. Jason wiped the back of his neck in the back of the cab he'd jumped into at the airport, tipping the driver he exited the car outside the hospital.

The search begins, he thought to himself, wondering where to start looking as without knowing what had happened he really had no idea where to find her. He knew to skip the ER, she'd been admitted he knew that much so she was on a ward somewhere. All he had from Davis was a contact name in interpol and a promise that he couldn't approach them through any official channels.

He looked around the main entrance and two guys caught his eye immediately, agency or interpol types, the suits and the stance gave them away even when relaxed with a coffee in hand. Jason wandered over to the vending machine they were stood beside, placing some coins inside "I was never great at Spanish…" he says "…which one of these buttons is for black coffee" he gestures to the machine.

The suit to his right presses the button for him and Jason nods in return to him as the machine whirs to life. "Don't suppose you know a Mr Jones? probably dressed a lot like you"

Both guys now stand more seriously and hands move closer to their hips, closer to their concealed weapons.

"No need to be worried gentlemen, if you could just let him know that Jason Hayes is here, and is asking after a mutual friend. I'll just be sat over there drinking my coffee" he points to a seat nearby and takes himself over there to sit while one of the suits takes out his mobile phone.

About 5 minutes later a gentleman dressed in a much better suit than his colleagues, appears in the lobby looking less than impressed. He spots Jason straight away, walks over to him without hesitation and gestures with a nod for him to follow him down the corridor.

Jason gets up and does exactly that.
