The group were still smiling by the time they returned to camp, all feeling better than they had in weeks. Months even. Horrors seemed to follow them around ever since they had crashed, and just a few hours away from the pain had done them all good. Just like Hurley said it would.
"You know that stuff you were saying in the van? That you're cursed?" Kali spoke up, as she walked beside him.
"Yeah?" Hurley responded.
"It's bullshit. Don't get me wrong, we've all been down on our luck since coming here but you're not cursed. You make your own choices. You can decide what to do with your life, Hurley. Don't let anyone or anything take that away from you" Kali explained, as a smile grew on the older man's lips.
"I never knew you were so deep, dude" Hurley chuckled, as Kali rolled her eyes in amusement.
"Only with my friends" Kali shrugged, as Hurley suddenly lunged at her, pulling her into a hug that lifted her off the sand.
"Can't breathe, mate" Kali choked, as Hurley continued to hug her tightly.
"You alright, Des?" A concerned voice grabbed Kali's attention, as she looked past Hurley's shoulder to see Desmond clutching his head.
Hurley seemed to notice something was wrong, releasing her from the bone-crushing hug as they both turned to the bearded man. Kali approached him slowly, seeing his face was contorted in pain, appearing close to passing out. He flinched when she touched his arm, his eyes snapping open, before they darted around his surroundings, out of focus.
"Shit, did you just have a vision?" Kali realised, as Desmond let out a shaky breath, before nodding.
"About me?" Charlie asked, as Kali turned to him in confusion.
"Why would he—?" Kali began, but was cut off by Hurley.
"Hey guys. I think we've got company" Hurley announced, pointing towards where they could see torches in the distance, despite being at least a ten minute walk from camp.
Unease grew between the group as they realised almost half the camp had ventured out to meet them. From the stern looks on their features, they had nothing good to say. Kali frowned when a woman she vaguely recognised threw a rucksack towards her, the silence between the two groups becoming almost deafening.
"What's going on?" Kali questioned, reaching down to open the pack, finding enough supplies for a few days inside.
"A decision's been made" The woman stated.
"And what would that be about?" Sawyer scoffed, crossing his arms.
"She can't come back to camp" A bearded man beside the women exclaimed, as Kali and Sawyer shared a look.
"Do I not get a say in this?" Kali retorted, trying to keep her emotions under control, as the woman who spoke before huffed.
"Like this group has ever been about fucking democracy" She muttered.
"I'm sorry, who are you anyways?" Sawyer questioned, taking a step forward.
"Nikki. I've been living with you for the past eighty days…you seriously don't even know my name?" She gaped, as Sawyer gave a half shrug.
"Guess you just weren't that memorable, sweetheart" Sawyer mocked, as the bearded man gave him a murderous look.
"Watch your mouth" He warned, watching Sawyer quirk an eyebrow.
"Or what, Pablo?" Sawyer went on, pacing forward until he was looming over the shorter man.
"See, I remembered his name" Sawyer mumbled to his companion.
"My name is Paulo" He insisted, as Sawyer gave another half-shrug.
"Close enough" He replied, causing Paulo's jaw to clench.
"Let's all just chill for a second—" Hurley began but was quickly cut off by Claire.
"I won't share a camp with a murderer" Claire announced, as hurt flashed over Kali's face.
"You really think I'd hurt you? Hurt Aaron?" Kali frowned, as Claire clutched the baby in question a little tighter.
"I won't take the risk. We won't…right, Charlie?" Claire responded, shooting the blond man an intense look.
"…No. I'm sorry. But Kali's stuck by me since the moment we came to this island…C'mon people, think about all the times she's helped us! Most of you would be dead without her!" Charlie insisted, as murmuring began in the group.
"And we might be dead soon because of her! Hurley told us about your psycho brother, how long until he pays us a visit?" Nikki spat out, as Kali shook her head.
"Without Jack here I'm the only person with any medical knowledge. What happens the next time one of you gets hurt? Who's going to help you then?" Kali insisted.
"We'll figure it out" Paulo muttered, a little uncertain.
"You're not wanted here" Nikki added, watching a cold expression wash over Kali's face.
Biting the inside of her cheek, Kali gave a hard nod before reaching down to pick up the rucksack, cursing herself for the way tears began to well in her eyes. Of course, the group wouldn't want her back. Why would they?
It's not like it'll be the first time I've been on my own, she thought to herself.
Her forehead wrinkled as a tanned hand suddenly reached out to grab her wrist, causing her to halt in taking the rucksack. She looked up to see the hand belonged to Sawyer, a soft look in his eyes. Her frown deepened when he lowered his hand further to link their fingers, giving her hand a quick squeeze. He then reached down himself and slung the rucksack over his back before turning towards the others.
"She ain't going anywhere. You'll have to go through me first" Sawyer announced.
"Aye, me too" Desmond exclaimed, taking a step forward to stand beside Kali.
"Friends stick together" Hurley nodded, joining the slowly forming group.
"You got that right" Charlie added, earning a grin from the other man.
Jin then took a step forward, having not understood most of the conversation, but it was clear to him there was a decision to be made. He found Sun in the crowd, who was looking at him with unease, not sure what side he would choose.
"My friend" Jin insisted, placing his hand on Kali's shoulder, standing his ground.
Sun's eyes darted between her husband's and Sawyer for a moment, once again making Kali nervous. Something had changed since they had been gone, and she couldn't help but think the older woman might have learnt more about her attack. Nonetheless, Sun was walking forward to join Jin a few moments later, her choice already made.
"I guess she is wanted" Sawyer pointed out, with a smug smile.
"This is ridiculous—" Nikki began, but was quickly cut off by a familiar brunette, who came storming towards them.
"You're right about that. We don't have time to be fighting against each other!" Kate insisted, followed by Locke and Sayid close behind her.
"We need her, more than she needs us, I think," Locke told them, coming in between the two groups.
"In other words…you're outnumbered" Sayid smirked, before raising an eyebrow at the group who were already starting to disperse.
"This isn't over" Nikki huffed, as Paulo slung his arm over her shoulder to lead her away.
"Bitch" Sawyer muttered under his breath, as the other group began to wander back to the camp.
"Making friends?" Kate suggested, quirking an eyebrow at the pair.
"Bastards could learn a thing or two about gratitude" Sawyer scoffed, as Sayid made his way over to Kali, a broad smile on his face.
"Are you alright?" Sayid questioned, placing his hand on her shoulder.
"Better now" Kali grinned, before reaching out to pull him into a hug, surprising the older man a little, as Kali wasn't known for such spontaneous gestures.
"Is it true? Kate told us what happened at the docks…" Locke announced, in a curious tone.
"That I rose from the dead? Yep. Honestly, it's starting to become a habit" Kali admitted, as she pulled away from the hug.
"It's happened more than once?" Locke gaped, with wide eyes.
"This island can't seem to let me die for some reason" Kali replied, as Sayid gave her a saddened look.
"She also said that you can't leave the island. That it would kill you" Sayid exclaimed, as Kali slowly nodded.
"Soon enough that ain't gonna' be a problem. Ben has a cure. We're gonna' go get it" Sawyer informed them, as Kali quirked an eyebrow.
"Oh, are we?" Kali muttered, in an unimpressed tone.
"Good. Then you can join us. We're getting Jack back" Kate explained, causing Kali to run a hand over her face in disbelief.
"We literally just escaped from these people! Why are you all so desperate to get caught again?" Kali pointed out.
"Because it's Jack" Kate retorted, firmly.
"He doesn't need us to save him. He would have saved Ben's life, and in return, he gets a ticket off the island. Jack's gonna' be just fine" Kali stated.
"…Am I the only one completely lost right now?" Hurley spoke up, with a frown.
"She'll explain when we get back" Kate exclaimed, making her way towards the treeline.
"Back from where?" Kali called after her, confused.
"A lead" Kate replied, not seeming to have any plans on slowing down.
"Looks like she's giving the orders now" Locke mumbled, sharing a look with Sayid, as the two men started to follow behind her.
"C'mon, blue eyes. Time to move" Sawyer insisted, as Kali reluctantly went to join him.
"Be careful, Kali" Hurley said, in an almost pleading tone, clearly worried for his friend's safety.
"Don't leave me and Des as the only Brits on the island!" Charlie added, making Kali huff out a laugh, waving a quick goodbye to them.
"Don't worry, Charlie. I'll look out for her" Desmond grinned, patting the blond on the shoulder before rushing after Kali and Sawyer.
"Room for one more?" Desmond questioned, watching as Sawyer shook his head, his jaw locked.
"Are you sure? Chances are we might not all be coming back" Kali stated, in a serious tone.
"I can look after myself, sweetheart" Desmond replied, as Sawyer rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Hey! I'm the nickname guy around here!" He argued, bitterly, as Kali had to bite her lip to stop her laughter, able to practically feel the jealously rolling off him.
The amused smile on Desmond's face quickly faded once he knew eyes were off him, no longer able to keep the concern off his face. Whether Sawyer liked it or not, he had to come with the group. Too many people's lives depended on it.
Kali was surprised to find the 'lead' that Kate had was Rousseau, a woman she had heard much about but was yet to meet in person. After they were almost shot when they stumbled upon the French woman's hiding place, Kate quickly asked her for assistance in finding the 'Others'. Kali doubted whether Rousseau would be willing to help, especially after what Sayid had told her. The woman was a survivor, through and through. Kate's hidden weapon soon came to light in an unexpected way.
Alex.
The sixteen-year-old that her brother had befriended, that helped them escape…was somehow Rousseau's daughter. As soon as Kali heard the information, she could see the resemblance between the two. She imagined Alex looked just how Rousseau had looked when she was a teenager. The older woman was speechless after that, only nodding when Kate asked for her help again. Kali couldn't even begin to imagine how she was feeling. When they were collecting water from a stream late that evening, Kali decided to approach the woman, hoping she could comfort her in some way.
"I've met Alex, you know" Kali spoke up, as she crouched down beside Rousseau, who gave no reply, but Kali could tell she was listening.
"She's a brave kid. Pretty funny too" Kali went on, as Rousseau's eyes flickered over to hers.
"Does she seem happy?" Rousseau couldn't help but ask.
"…No. I think she wants to get away from Ben" Kali admitted.
"You haven't asked us many questions about her. How come?" Kali inquired.
"It's been sixteen years. She won't remember me. She's grown up without a mother" Rousseau sighed.
"Well, it's never too late, right? One of her parents has let her down…you gonna' do the same?" Kali pushed, watching Rousseau's forehead wrinkle.
"She needs her mum" Kali insisted, as Rousseau nodded slowly.
"Why do you think I'm helping you?" Rousseau stated, making a small smile grow on Kali's lips.
"…Sayid told us that the people you came here with…they got sick. Went mad. Like an infection?" Kali asked, curiously.
"A disease" Rousseau murmured, in a dark tone.
"But what was it? I know the Others have made some sort of vaccine. Is it for the same disease?" Kali pushed.
"I know little more than you" Rousseau stated, pushing herself to her feet.
"But you must know how your people got sick, right? Why didn't you?" Kali questioned, watching Rousseau inhale sharply.
"We had made camp only a few days after coming to the island when something woke us up. A light. A bright light through the trees. We thought it was help, so one of the men in our group went to investigate. Then another, and another…until it was only myself and my husband left…" Rousseau trailed off, going pale.
"Alex's father?" Kali questioned, earning a nod in return.
"That light never faded, even when the sun rose, not for a second. I begged my husband not to leave. To stay with me. I tried to stay up but…at some point I must have fallen asleep. When I awoke my husband was gone and so was the light" Rousseau explained.
"But they came back?" Kali queried, with wide eyes.
"Yes. The following night. I asked them what happened but all they could tell me was that they went somewhere…else. They were strange after that. Different. They started to attack each other and then eventually my own husband, the man who I had loved for years…he tried to shoot me" Rousseau went on.
"Why?! You were pregnant with his child…h-how could he?" Kali gaped.
"Once a person is infected with that insidious disease they would kill their own mother if given half a chance" Rousseau warned her, making Kali gulp.
"But what happened to them? What was that light—?" Kali began, but was cut off by a shout from nearby.
"Kali! Rousseau! Come quickly!" They heard Sayid shout, as the pair were rushing towards the sound of his voice a few moments later.
"What is it?" Kali questioned, hearing the concern in his tone.
"Look…" Kate trailed off, pointing to a pile of stones in a nearby clearing.
It wouldn't have been strange if not for the way the stones were arranged. In an arrow. Whoever had made the sign had left a clear trail, as even Kali could see the way the grass had been flattened by their feet. Someone wanted to show them something. Kate was taking off in the direction a split-second later, a determined look on her face.
"Oh sure, let's follow the mysterious trail leading us to God knows where…what could go wrong?" Sawyer called after her sarcastically.
They travelled through most of the night, only sleeping for a few hours before they were back to tracking again. Kate stayed in the lead, barely waiting for the others. It seemed that she had little thought for anyone but Jack. Kali couldn't help but think it was the woman's guilt spurring her on rather than anything else. It was clear that things had not ended well between the pair, and Kali had a feeling the brunette wanted to change that. Due to the fast pace of the group, Kali started to fall behind, pain beginning to radiate from her stomach, where she was still healing from the bullet wound she had received only a few days prior. Sawyer seemed to notice the sheen of sweat on her skin and the way she was guarding her stomach and came up beside her.
"You alright?" Sawyer inquired, receiving a curt nod.
"We can stop if you need to—" Sawyer stated, his tone full of concern.
"I'm good. Really" Kali retorted.
"I could use a break actually. My feet are pretty sore" Desmond announced, giving Kali a quick smile, having listened in on the conversation.
"You looking for a piggyback, Scotty?" Sawyer huffed, earning a chuckle from the other man.
"You offering, Sasquatch?" Desmond shot back, as Kali burst out laughing, throwing her head back.
"Ah, you two are killing me" She giggled, when she saw Sawyer's look of offence.
The blond then let out a scoff before walking off in a strop, as Desmond and Kali shared a look. With a sigh, Kali took off after him, as they split off from the rest of the group.
"Oh c'mon! It was funny—" Kali called after him.
"Yeah, your boyfriend's a real laugh a minute" Sawyer muttered, as Kali came to a halt.
"Is that a hint of jealousy I hear?" Kali teased, as Sawyer crossed his arms, still refusing to look at her.
"You wish" Sawyer retorted, making Kali roll her eyes.
"Don't worry, James. You're the only guy I want a piggyback from" Kali exclaimed, before jumping on him, wrapping her arms around his shoulders, her legs hanging off the ground.
"You're fucking ridiculous, you know that?" Sawyer exclaimed, cursing the smile that was already growing on his lips.
"Yeah, and you love it" Kali giggled, wrapping her legs around him, almost pushing them both over.
"Oh, do I?" Sawyer replied, as Kali dropped her chin into the crook of his neck.
Just as she opened her mouth to speak, the pair heard a strange clinking sound from nearby. Kali almost fell off Sawyer's back as the creature that made the sound came into view. A cow. In the middle of the jungle.
"This place gets weirder every day" Kali mumbled.
Ten minutes later, they found a house, with animals outside and a radio antenna on the roof. It seemed completely out of place and appeared to have next to no security. Suspicions were high as they spied on the lone inhabitant of the house, a man who Sayid claimed to have seen before on a monitor in one of the DHARMA stations.
"Who is he?" Kate questioned.
"There's only one way to find out…we ask him" Sayid stated, handing Kate his gun.
"Sounds safe" Kali scoffed, sarcastically.
"What's this for?" Kate frowned, taking Sayid's rifle into her hands.
"If I'm unarmed he won't feel threatened. In case he is threatened, you can cover me from here" Sayid explained, as Rousseau shook her head, before turning around and going to walk away.
"Hey. Where are you going?" Kali asked.
"I have survived on this island by precisely avoiding these encounters. I'll wait for you by the stream…for those of you who'll survive" Rousseau announced, as Kali pursed her lips.
"Appreciate the words of encouragement" Kali called after her.
"Wait up, I'll go with you" Desmond exclaimed, surprising the group.
"Running away already, huh?" Sawyer mocked, as Desmond's jaw clenched.
"Someone has to keep an eye on her, right? We'll need her" Desmond insisted, as Sayid nodded for him to follow the French woman.
"Be careful…you can tell me why you're really going later" Kali whispered to the older man, reaching to touch his arm for a moment.
"Aye. Watch your back" Desmond replied, as she gave him a small smile.
"Alright, alright. Back to the plan" Sawyer insisted, as Desmond rushed after Rousseau.
"Don't reveal yourselves unless you have to" Sayid told them, before making his way out of the long grass.
"This is a terrible plan…" Kali trailed off, biting her lip anxiously.
They watched with unease as Sayid slowly approached the house, his arms raised up in the air. He came to a halt when he saw a cat stretched out on the front porch, his whole body language changing. All of a sudden, a loud bang echoed through the air, and Sayid stumbled backwards, clutching at his now bleeding arm. Kali's eyes widened as she saw he had been shot, and raced forward, taking her handgun out of her jeans. A hand grabbed her at the last second, pulling her back against their chest.
"Stop! You want to get shot too?!" Sawyer hissed, his grip tight on her arm.
"We can't just leave him out there!" Kali retorted.
"You're not goddamn bulletproof, Kali!" Sawyer insisted, as she let out a sigh, and allowed him to pull her back.
The man who had shot their friend came into view, hiding against a nearby window, a patch covering one of his eyes. He had a dishevelled appearance and an accent, as he called out to Sayid, muttering something about a truce. Kali's eyes flickered between the armed man and Sayid who had fallen to the ground, blood seeping out from his arm wound.
"I'm gonna' go around the back. Make sure he can't get a clean shot at Sayid" Kali stated, before ducking and racing around the back of the house, unseen by the mysterious man.
Sawyer hissed her name, but let her go, nonetheless, knowing he'd never be able to stop her. She circled the house, soon coming round on the other side as she heard Sayid crying out to the man.
"I'm unarmed, I swear!" Sayid yelled, getting no response for a few seconds.
"Stay right there!" The man told him, before he backed away from the window.
With him out of sight, Kali jumped out from behind the wall, creeping along the side of the house, her gun raised. The second the man pushed the front door opened, Sawyer and the others rushed out of the grass, clearly surprising the stranger.
"Drop your gun!" Kate yelled, as the man debated it for longer than he should have.
He seemed to come to a decision a moment later when he felt the barrel of a gun placed against the back of his head. He flinched when he heard the unmistakable sound of the safety being taken off, followed by Kali's steady voice.
"Now" She insisted, as the gun flopped to the ground.
Locke was quick to grab the man's rifle, before heading into the house, looking for anyone still hidden inside. Kali circled the man, making her way towards Sayid, who had been picked off the ground by Kate.
"Who are you?" Sawyer growled.
"My name is Mikhail Bakunin…and I am the last living member of the DHARMA initiative" He informed them.
"Why did you attack us?" Kali inquired, her eyes narrowed.
"I thought he was a hostile…I'm sorry. Please come in, I have a first aid kit, in the kitchen, top shelf. Your wound needs to be treated immediately—" Mikhail pushed, as Kali cut him off.
"Yeah, no shit. Kate, don't take your eyes off him" Kali warned, as she slung Sayid's arm over her shoulder and pulled him into the house.
Kali helped to guide him to a nearby couch, as he almost collapsed, the pain clear on his face. Sawyer had made a beeline for the first aid kit, rifling through the cupboard and racing back over to them. Kali grabbed a bottle of peroxide from inside the pack, pouring it onto a gauze and pressed it down on Sayid's bleeding wound. Sayid gritted his teeth but refused to cry out.
"You have any alcohol?" Kali questioned, wiping away some of the blood.
"On the shelf over there" Mikhail nodded, as Kate kept her gun trained on him.
Kali took a closer look at the wound, moving Sayid's arm to the side as she realised there was no exit wound. The bullet was still inside his arm.
"Shit" She muttered, as Sawyer handed her the bottle of alcohol.
"To clean the wound?" Sayid frowned, as she handed him the bottle.
"To drink. I'm gonna' have to pull the bullet out. It's gonna hurt…a lot" She warned, as Sayid nodded, unscrewing the lid of the vodka and taking a long sip.
"Sawyer, keep pressure on the wound" Kali advised, grabbing his arm and pulling him down to crouch down beside Sayid.
She rushed to the kitchen and began to thoroughly clean her hands, hoping it would be enough to stop her from bringing any bacteria into the wound. When she arrived back, she was surprised to see Sawyer with one of his hands clasped around Sayid's wound, while the other was on the man's back in an almost comforting gesture. His expression was full of concern.
"Blue eyes will fix you up good as new, don't worry" Sawyer exclaimed, as Sayid flashed him a smile, spotting Kali behind the man's shoulder.
"You got your lighter?" Kali asked, as the blond pulled the object from his trouser pocket and threw it her way.
She then began to heat up a pair of tweezers, settling down in front of Sayid, taking a deep breath, praying that the bullet hadn't got stuck.
"You ready?" Kali asked, as Sayid gave her a curt nod, biting the inside of his cheek.
She then pushed the tweezers into the wound, seeing how Sayid flinched but remained silent. She was quick to find the bullet, but it was difficult to get a hold of the object with something as flimsy as the tweezers. Pushing them further into his arm, Sayid's hand balled into a fist, as Sawyer kept his hand on his friends back. Once she had a good grip on the bullet, she ripped it out, as a cry of pain left Sayid's lips.
"You're one tough son of a bitch, Sayid" Kali exclaimed, looking at the bullet caught between the tweezers.
Sayid huffed out a laugh, still panting, a thin layer of sweat covering his cheeks. The wound had begun bleeding more now, as Kali tried to wipe the excess blood away with more gauze. Turning back to the medical kit, she picked up a pair of plyers and began to unwind the stitch she would use. Her forehead wrinkled as she suddenly felt pins and needles rising up her hand, until it was radiating up her whole arm, making her come to a halt. Kali grabbed onto the limb as she felt a violent tremor rip down her arm, her frown deepening. She let out a hissing sound when a loud sound erupted around her, similar to that of TV static, causing her to place her hand over her ear.
"Kali?" Sawyer's voice broke through the noise, as her eyes snapped up.
She turned around to him, the stitch still in her hand, which seemed to have gone back to normal. She blinked a few times, wondering if she had become anxious at performing such a procedure. It didn't make sense.
"You alright?" Sawyer questioned.
"Y-yeah, I'm fine" Kali replied, inhaling sharply and sitting down in front of Sayid again, busying herself with stitching the wound together.
"Nadia!" Mikhail muttered; his warning directed at the cat that had now entered the home and was pawing at a nearby rug.
"What did you just say?" Sayid gaped; his mouth gone slack.
"The cat's name. Nadia. Named after Nadia Comaneci, the greatest athlete the world has ever known" Mikhail replied, gesturing to a poster on his wall.
"Nadia…" Sayid trailed off, gazing intently at the cat.
"When did you leave Russia?" Kali couldn't help but ask, as Mikhail looked at her with interest.
He gave them a long-winded story of how he had joined the DHARMA initiative many years ago after replying to an ad. He went on to explain how there had been a purge and everyone but he was killed as he decided not to participate in the 'war' against the hostiles. The whole thing smelled like bullshit to Kali, and from the look in Sayid's eyes, she could see wasn't the only one thinking so.
"There we go. All done. Not bad, if I do say so myself" Kali grinned, after cutting the end of the stitch.
"Thank you, Kali" Sayid nodded to her, his eyes remaining on Mikhail.
A few minutes later, she had successfully bandaged Sayid's arm and given him a glass of water from the tap. He still looked like he was close to passing out but he remained strong. Sayid wasn't the type to let something like a bullet wound stop him.
"Is there anything else you require? Some more bandages? Perhaps some iced tea—" Mikhail began but was quickly cut off by Kali.
"How about the truth?" Kali insisted, seeing how Mikhail's one eye darkened, before he lunged at Kate, attempting to grab her gun.
While they were wrestling for the weapon, Mikhail couldn't see how Kali had grabbed the half-empty bottle of vodka. He never saw her coming as she slammed the glass down onto the back of his skull, as it shattered from the force. He instantly dropped to the floor, surrounded by the remnants of alcohol and glass
"I'm getting really tired of these assholes" Kali muttered, as Kate quirked an eyebrow at her, a smirk slowly forming on her face.
Outside the house, a figure was hiding in the grass, looking through a pair of binoculars, a smile on their own features as they had watched Kali knock out the Other. They crouched down to open their rucksack, pulling out a remote as they bit their lip, concern written over their features.
"Never took you for a stalker, Boone" A voice announced from behind them, as the man whipped around.
Boone looked around, eyes widening when he found Kali's brother looming over him, not caring less that he would be visible to the inhabitants inside the house.
"Goddamn it, get down!" Boone hissed, as he grabbed the newcomer's arm and pulled him into a crouching position beside him.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Boone questioned, his eyes meeting Ken's.
"I came to ask you the same thing. Jacob said that he's sent you on some important mission and here I find you creeping on my sister. What gives?" Ken pushed.
"It's none of your business, alright. Just go back" Boone retorted, as Ken pursed his lips.
"Alright, I'll just go ask Kali instead. Hey—" Ken called out, his voice cut off as Boone slammed his hand over Ken's mouth.
He then pulled Ken further into the grass, watching as Locke came out of the house, his rifle raised in the air, eyes darting around, clearly having heard them. When he couldn't find anything out of the ordinary, he closed the doors to the house, meaning Boone could no longer see what was happening. He let out a yelp a moment later, feeling a sharp pain in his as he pulled away from Ken.
"Did you just bite me?!" Boone cried, as Ken gave a half shrug.
"Just go back, Ken-" Boone began, but was cut off by a new voice, from a few metres away.
"He can't do that. You both have to be here" Desmond announced, a stern expression on his face.
Things were about to get a lot more complicated.
