(Humphrey's pov)
I opened my eyes as I heard a noise coming from the hallway outside the door. I rubbed my eyes trying to push away the fatigue and wake up some. I heard a light tap on the door almost faint enough to make it noticeable if it weren't dead quiet in the house.
"Yes" I said quietly, trying not to disturb the sleeping members of the house. My voice sounded rough and coarse. I tilted my head to the side to look in the direction of the side table, but there was no water. Guess it was my fault for not grabbing any. My attention turned back to the door as I heard it open with an audible 'pop' sound. I couldn't see in the pitch black abyss that surrounded me at the moment but soon enough I saw Stormy walking over with her pillow, Lilly beside her.
"What's up you two?" I let out a small yawn. Stormy looked a mess, her hair ruffled and no longer it's pretty flat self that showed her pride in hair care. She just looked at the floor for a moment before receiving a small nudge from Lilly, who looked to me. "Stor-" I stopped as she walked over and squeezed me in an unexpected embrace. I didn't move and allowed her to continue the sudden action. "I'm sorry…for how I acted" she mumbled into my shoulder.
I felt bad that she was apologizing when nothing, not a damn thing that had happened was her fault. If anything I should be the one on my hands and knees apologizing to her. I pushed her shoulder, pulling her away from me until our faces were only a few inches apart. I could barely make out her facial features in the dark, mostly just her eyes and ears. I leaned forward and rested my forehead against hers.
"Hey don't you apologize for anything, you hear. You're perfect and I will never, ever be mad at you." I said, bumping her head a little. She didn't respond but I felt her nod a little before pulling away. "So what's wrong? Why did you come down here in the middle of the night?" I asked looking from her to Lilly, who stared at me like a fly on the wall. "There isn't a thought behind those pretty little eyes, is there?' I thought to myself as I looked back at Stormy.
"I tried but I just couldn't fall asleep, so Lilly mentioned asking you.." she said, backing up and grabbing Lilly's arm so that they were side by side in front of me. I felt my brain dying as it pondered what she could mean by that, but I guess my silence was enough of a reason for explanation. "Can we sleep down here with you tonight?" she added. I was too tired and it was too late at night for me to really care at the moment, and I'm sure she knew that because I never let her sleep in my bed, but tonight was different so I guess it called for leniency. "I don't see-..wait we?" I asked, my brain catching up to the conversation slowly.
"I don't really want to leave her side right now "Lilly chimed in, trying to back up my sister's plea. I mean my sister is one thing but Kate's sister too? I don't think that would be a good idea, what if her mom got mad at me or worse her dad. Winston may be nice but he looks like he could handle business when need be. As if I said it out loud I heard Lilly giggle dragging Stormy over to me. "Don't worry mom and dad won't care, I promise" she said handing Stormy her pillow that she dropped to hug me.
This was not really something I was in the mood to deal with and I just wanted to rest, but if there was any chance it would help out my sister then so be it. "I guess that's fine.. But just for tonight you hear me ``I said rolling back over. I felt my nose hit the back of the couch which made me think about what I was laying on. I was on a couch and it was decent sized but there was no way it would fit all of us. I rolled on my back about to inform them of the detrimental but now obvious news, but before I could I felt Stormy crawl on top of me and lay down on my chest. She was careful not to touch my injury as she placed the pillow against the back of the couch to keep her from falling in its direction.
I felt like I had a horse laying on me trying to squish me as it became much harder to breath. This girl was out of her mind if she thought she was about to sleep on top of me. I raised my arm to pull her off but I felt something grab it and pull it back down. I looked down to see Lilly who had now nuzzled her way in beside me resting on my arm as a pillow. After a few seconds they both stopped wiggling around and got comfortable, letting the room fall silent.
"Well this is uncomfortable " I thought to myself as I looked from my chest to my arm, both weighed down by tiny girls. I let out a sigh knowing there was nothing to be done about it now, I would just have to put up with it. I was never really one for being close to another or being touched. I could feel the heartbeat of my sister, pounding against my chest in an unmatched rhythm as it slowed down over the course of the hour. Soon they were both fast asleep with Lilly nuzzling more into my shoulder pulling the blanket up over her face.
I just stared at the ceiling wondering what might have happened if I just said no to them. I guess there was no reason to cry over spilt milk as I closed my eyes and tried to rest. Not soon after, either do to the overbearing warmth of the extra bodies or fatigue setting back in i felt myself beginning to drift back off to sleep

(Time skip 6 am)
I felt Winston get out of bed heading for the bathroom for his usual morning shower. I got up and walked over to my rob on the chair across from the bed, putting it on and looking out the window into the backyard. The sun was not up just yet but it was light enough to see all the other houses in the neighborhood. I just smiled and walked into the hallway making my way for the stairs, when I noticed Lilly's door open.
"Girls, are you up yet?" I asked, poking my head into the room. To my surprise it was completely empty. Where would they be? I walked over to Kate's door and gave a light knock and opened the door. Kate was on her bed with Jane next to her, the other two laying on one of the spare mattresses. They were all spread out and dreaming away about lord knows what. "Kate….Kate dear.." I whispered trying not to wake the other girls. I saw her head poke up instantly as if she had been waiting for me all morning.
"Have you seen the girls?". She sat up pushing Jane's arm, that was resting on her stomach, off her. "No,umm..no,why?" she asked, stretching and yawning before staring at me. I noticed Beth's eyes open as she rolled her head in my direction as well. "Nothing hun, they just weren't in their room, so I was wondering if you had seen them".
"I heard some noise last night from them in the hallway, something about a pillow?" Beth said, grabbing and waving her pillow in the air. "Hmm well maybe they went down stairs I'll go check" i stepped out of the room as Kate hopped off her bed in pursuit of me, pushing Jane off the bed onto Alex. She just let out an audible 'oof' as she landed on the bedding below waking the other girls now.
"Always a class act huh?" I said to a giggling Kate as she followed me down the stairs. We walked into the kitchen but it was empty, making me turn to Kate with a puzzled expression. After a second it seemed to click at the same time for both of us as we turned to face the door across the hall from us where Humphrey slept.
"You don't think they would go in there do you?" She glanced over to me. I narrowed my eyes and walked over to the door, Kate once again following close behind. I heard some noise from the stairs as I turned to see the other girls coming down, half asleep and trying not to push each other down by accident.
"Shh" I said, putting a finger up to my mouth trying to silence them. I didn't want to wake up Humphrey if he had finally gone to sleep. He needed to rest and he deserved it more than anyone. They all walked behind me, as I carefully opened the door extra slowly so it wouldn't make a sound before opening it and walking in. The girls stayed over by the door so as not to cause too much noise, which I was thankful for.
I immediately noticed a very peaceful looking Stormy snoozing away. Although I'd be lying if I said it didn't upset me to see her on top of her brother when he was hurt like this. One wrong move and she could reopen his wound, and that was not something I wanted to happen. I looked down to Humphrey who seemed to be sleeping at the moment.
I felt a little relief knowing he was finally resting again. I noticed a tuft of white sticking out from the blanket beside Humphrey making me walk over for a closer look. I lifted the blanket carefully to find Lilly huddled up against Humphreys' side resting her head against his chest.
I heard some gasp and one of the girls said 'aww how cute'. I carefully set the blanket back down and made my way back out of the room, shooing the girls back and closing the door. I walked back to the kitchen and walked over to the fridge grabbing the orange juice and some glasses. I made my way over to the table and poured the juice into the glasses, handing one to all the girls before pouring me one.
"So you guys can't lie, that was like totally adorable right?" Jane said, drinking from the glass. The girls nodded in agreement, Kate however did not but instead just took a sip of her juice. I personally had mixed feelings about it. I'm sure Humphrey allowed it and that's fine and all, but I was not okay with Stormy's actions. But I'm not mean enough to rip them apart when they want to be together so I'll just have to let it slide for now.
"Well how about some breakfast?" I said getting up and walking into the kitchen and opening the fridge. I pulled out some eggs and vegetables and some cheese. I guess omelets would work for today.

(Humphreys dream)
I woke up but I wasn't inside Kate's house anymore. I was in the hallway from school, but something seemed different. The lighting was dark and gloomy making the normal hallway seem darker than normal. I looked around from one side to the other confused. The hall was completely empty besides me
I heard Stormy's voice call to me from behind, making me turn but the hall was still empty. "Stormy…is that you?" I asked, my concern on the citation now escalating as I walked down the hallway. I heard her voice again from down the hall as I picked up the pace to a jog. After a moment I came up to an open classroom door, which I looked inside of. "Stormy?" I glanced from one side of the room to the next looking for any signs of her.
I felt a hand on my back as I got pushed forward, falling to the floor. "Ah.. what the hell" I said, turning back to face the unknown entity. My heart stopped when I noticed there was no one standing there. I looked around the room as I stood back up but didn't see anyone. I poked my head out the door looking both ways but still wasn't able to see any signs of life.
"Looking for someone?" I heard a voice say over my shoulder from behind. I felt like my stomach jumped into my throat as a shiver violently ringgit its way down my spine to every nerve in my body. 'There was only one person that voice would belong to' I thought to myself as I slowly turned around to see James leaning against one of the desks across the room from me.
He glared at me with bloodshot eyes, and a tattered set of jeans. His shirt was full of stains and holes from side to side. He let out a grin that stretched across his face in an unsettling way, making me take a step back from him.
"Where are you going Humphrey? I know I taught you better than that.." he said standing up off the desk walking towards me. "You know that you've caused a lot of trouble for people right?" he continued stopping a few feet away from me.
"And whose fault was that" I spat in disdain, feeling my fear being covered by rage. "You don't get to sit up on a moral high horse, when you caused everything". I clenched my fist feeling my nails biting into the skin in my palms.
"Watch it boy!" he yelled back at me making me flinch at the sudden outburst. His smile only grew as he watched my reaction. "Don't tell me you're scared?" he said, stepping closer. I stepped back as he stepped closer, making me trip over one of the legs of the desk and fall backwards to the floor. I quickly got back to my feet to find him a mere few inches away from my face. I froze when I noticed I was unsure what to do at the moment.
His breath reeked of beer and smoke, making me want to gag at the assault upon my nose.``What do you want from me? '' I squeaked out trying to take another step back but found myself bumping the wall.
"Why, can't your father spend time with his kid?" he said in a sarcastic voice. I let out a growl grabbing his attention. "You are not my father, and you never were. So don't act like you have that spot you scumbag" I said through gritted teeth.
"Is that so? Maybe we should have a second opinion about that.." he turned and walked over to the door reaching his hand out, after a moment Stormy stepped through the door and stood beside James. I looked from him to her and back to him, stepping forward.
"Get away from my sister you piece of shit" walking towards them. But as I did, I noticed I wasn't getting any closer to them. If anything they seemed to get further away from me. I tried to get closer but it wasn't working as I watched James smile as I struggled.
"What the hell? What is this?" I asked , looking directly into his eyes. He just smiled and turned, grabbing Stormy's hand and walking to the door. "Hey wait we aren't done here, let her go!" I yelled as I once again tried to reach them but gained no ground.
"Know this Humphrey…" he said, turning back to face me. "I will take everything from you, and finish what we started". With that he turned and walked with my sister out the door of the classroom and turned out of sight.
"Damn it, I said let her go! Get back here!" I yelled desperately trying to move but felt stuck in place like I was in quicksand. I looked back to the door with tears in my eyes as I felt my anger grow. "I SAID BRING HER BACK!" I yelled as hard as I could
(Back at Kate's)
I jumped awake still yelling before wincing at the sunlight that beamed in my eyes. I laid my head down as I tried to catch my breath.
"Oh my god Humphrey what's wrong?" I heard Stormy say. I looked down to see he still snuggled in on my chest, looking at me with concern. I wrapped my arm around her and squeezed her, feeling a wave of relief wash over me. "Nothing , just a bad dream." I said letting her go as she continued to eye me cautiously before wrapping her arms around me and snuggling back into my chest.
"Please dont scare me like that.. I was worried about you" she said, not adjusting her position. I just let my head fall back against the couch. I felt some movement beside me as I noticed Lilly poke her head out of the blanket, her ultraviolet eyes shining in the morning light. "So do I get a morning hug too..or is that not a thing" she said with a smile. She just spent the night wrapped around me and now she had the audacity to ask for a hug.
'Girls are scary beings' I thought to myself as I examined the curious face that stared back at me. "Ah I see everyone is awake now" a voice echoed in from the door, causing us to glance over and see Eve and the girls all looking in. I felt my cheeks burning as they went red, making me look away in embarrassment. There were way too many eyes on me at the moment, and even worse Eve was here. I was definitely dead now, there was nothing I could do.
"Five more minutes mom, he's fluffy and warm" Lilly said burying her face back into my side. I couldn't hear my thoughts over the screaming I was doing in my head at what she had just said. She was going to get me killed even faster at this rate, what's wrong with this girl. "Fine but make sure not to bother Humphrey" Eve said walking away. I stared blankly at the ceiling as I tried to figure out why I was still breathing.
I heard Lilly giggle as her head popped back out. "Why is your heart beating so fast? Are you scared of the cute girls on you? Or maybe scared of my mother? Hmmm? She said with evil eyes. I looked to Stormy who didn't say a word in my defense. Not even five minutes into the morning and I'm already exhausted.
