Prologue: A Faithful Meeting
Rock Music could be heard coming out of Haven's one and only record store. Alex Chen, a young woman of Chinese-Vietnamese decent is now engaged to the owner of the store: Stephanie Chen. Steph had agreed to take the last name of her best friend and her fiance. With Steph in the booth, she made an announcement.
"Haven Residents, don't forget that the upcoming wedding for me and my fiance Alex Chen will be held outside in the park. All are welcome, food and drinks will be provided!"
Alex blushed. It was hard for her to believe that she was getting married. Steph didn't care much for the whole "traditional" wedding. In fact, the two women often dyed their hair. They were both creative and Alex had the power to read minds. There were times in their relationship that Steph wanted to surprise Alex, so she made a promise to herself not to use the power on her.
She couldn't have been more surprised that Steph proposed to her. Coming out of her thoughts, she remembered that there were a few orders that still had to be picked up. Going to the desk, she looked at the paper that was on it. Two people still haven't claimed their records. One record was a classic… the other was something she hadn't her of. The first name on the list was Max Caufield. She had called a week ago mentioning that she'd be passing through Haven to obtain the record. A number was provided and so using the record store's phone, Alex dialed the number. Fixing her short, slightly pink-dyed hair, the phone started ringing. Almost immediately a young woman's voice answered.
"This is Max Caufield, can I help you?"
"Hey Max, this is Alex Chen from Haven's record store?"
"Alex, that's right. I heard over the radio that you're getting married soon. Congratulations! Is this about my order?"
"It is. I just wanted to let you know we won't be able to continue holding it after today. Are you still picking it up?"
"Yep! I'm on my way to the record store right now as we speak. Mac gave me the directions for it."
"Awesome see you soon," Alex said. She ended the call.
It's great that Mac started a small inn for Haven. I guess making money with the settlement he got for all of Typhon's wrongdoing worked well for him, Alex thought.
The second name on the list was Daniel Diaz. Alex was sure she hadn't heard of the song. While she did learn to speak Spanish with the free time she had lately, she was almost certain the record store didn't have it. Going over to the booth, Alex tapped the window lightly so that Steph could see her. Steph, a young caucasian woman recently had her brown hair cut short. She often wore a beanie hat with a flame on it. Taking her headphones off, she let the music continue to play for Haven residents. She walked over to the door and opened it, slightly looking out of it.
"Hey what's up?" she asked.
"Steph, have you ever heard of this song?" Alex asked, showing the requested order to her. Steph read the order out loud, she nodded.
"Yeah, we have it. But it's kind of a rare record, not often requested. If I remember the last time I saw it, I believe it's on the top shelf."
Alex smiled.
"Thanks, Steph," she said. Steph smiled back and was about to say something but she could hear the record in the booth was close to ending.
"Duty calls, sorry…" she trailed off.
"It's alright I'll go find that record."
Steph smiled again before closing the door. Spotting the ladder near the shelf, Alex walked over to it but not before deciding to pet a black cat.
I'm glad you've finally warmed up to me Valkyrie, Alex thought, the cat purring. Alex stopped petting her and she proceeded over to the ladder. She walked over to the leader, then placed the paper on the records table next to the shelf.
She looked up at the ladder and sighed. She wasn't thrilled about heights, especially after the fall she took when Jed shot her into the mine shaft. Despite healing physically, there are some days where it can be mentally draining for Alex. Mustering up the strength, Alex shook her shoulders in anticipation. She decided to head up the ladder.
Once all the way up, Alex started looking for Daniel's record. She soon spotted but heard the chimes on the door as it was being opened. She grabbed the record but looked to greet the customer coming in. It was a young woman, tall but skinny looking. Medium-length brown hair, wearing a gray hoodie, pink t-shirt, along with wearing blue jeans.
"Hi, I'm Max Caulfield here to pick up my order?" she asked Alex.
"Max, hi let me-" it was at that moment as Alex was starting to go down the ladder, her fingers betrayed her and the record slipped out of its case. It fell all the way down to the floor, shattering.
Max's POV
Max saw the record shatter into pieces, this also scared Valkyrie as she jumped off the table.
"Fuck," Alex cursed. "Of all the time to have butterfingers. Steph is going to freak."
Max looked at Alex, she knew Steph was her fiance.
I could help this woman, Max thought. After all, couples shouldn't fight before a wedding.
Putting her hand forward, Max decided to use her time rewinding powers. For Max, it was almost as if she could hear a rewinding button being pressed on a VCR.
The shattered record piece by piece was fixed, it flew all the way up and Valkyrie went back to the table she was sitting on before the record shattered. Max could rewind a little further, but this was the first time she used her powers in ages. In fact, she was even sure she didn't even have these powers anymore. But a part of her knew she wasn't finished with them yet.
Max continued to rewind to the point where she was now outside the record shop. Max knocked on the door instead this time.
Alex's POV
Hearing the knock on the door, Alex gasped a bit looking at the record in hand with the envelope.
That was… what was that? A vision… no that happened, I'm sure of it, Alex told herself.
Alex gripped the record's envelope tightly, climbed down the ladder quickly. She went over to place the record on the desk, then headed to the door. She opened. Alex's eyes widened.
"Hi I'm Max Caulfield, I'm here to pick up my order?"
And done! Please let me know what you think. I always wanted a crossover for Life is Strange with all the characters meeting. If this is something that has been done before here on fanfiction, please note I am not copying anyone's work. I got inspired to write this after completing Life Is Strange 3: True Colors.
Don't forget to review! This story will be updated slowly, as I come up with new ideas for it.
