Chairoshipping (Mana/Valon)

. . .

Uugh. Amelda and Raphael were late.

Valon shifted from foot to foot, glaring at nothing in particular. The square was pretty crowded, full of people milling about from one booth to another. There was some kind of farmer's market or craft fair going on today, he wasn't sure. Raphael just wanted them to meet up for lunch.

But Valon was early, which wasn't usual. Dammit. He knew he should have slept in. Should have made Amelda and Raphael wait instead of him being the one to sit here bored out of his skull.

After staring at the passersby for a while and picking out the most ridiculous hats, he dug his hand into his pocket and pulled out his 3DS. As long as he had to wait he could put a bit of time into levelling up that Popplio that Yugi had sent him from Japan.

He booted up the game, turning the wifi on so that he could pick up streetpasses; in a place like this with an event going around, there was sure to be someone with the newest Pokemon game around.

His game dinged softly in the bottom screen, and his eyes slid down. Huh? Wow, that hadn't taken long at all. He had a battle request from someone called B M G.

What the hell; he didn't have anything else to be doing. He hit yes to the request.

It took a minute for the link to load—the other character on the screen had chosen the female avatar with the light brown skin, and had green contacts in with the longest, dark brown hairstyle. The pixel-y character looked kind of cute. Valon wondered if the player looked similar to the avatar.

He glanced briefly at her team. Damn, he could be in a bit of a pinch. Her team was mostly Psychic and his was mostly Fighting. Grimacing, he set his Scrafty to go out first and settled into the game.

She led with a super powerful Delphox and Valon lost three Pokemon before he finally whittled it down, making her switch over to Tapu Fini, which made short work of the rest of his team. He half grimaced as the game ended in her favor. Damn. She had some competitive level skills—his dicking around was no match for that.

The link ended as he clicked to not save his battle footage; he didn't need to remember that. Automatically, though, he lifted his eyes up to the rest of the square. Wonder where the player is, he thought, looking around to see if he could see anyone hunched over a game system.

"That was fun! Thanks for playing with me!" a voice suddenly echoed beside him.

Valon jumped and swore, shooting straight up and spinning in a circle.

But…there was no one there. Had he…had he imagined that?

He glanced down at his screen where it would list the last handful of avatars that he had interacted with through link up.

There wasn't a single avatar labeled B M G.
