Celesteshipping (Mazaki Anzu/Valon)

. . .

"Did you just—steal one of my fries?"

"Eat them faster," Anzu said. "It's like you want them to get cold."

She grabbed another fry out of Valon's basket and he snatched it back out of her reach, glaring at her with mortification. He glared at her from across the table, hunching over his basket of fries and starting to shove handfuls into his mouth.

"Oh my god, that's disgusting," she said, but she was laughing, because god, he was so much like Jou.

"Ya where ta won toh teru ma toh ate fashter," he said through a mouthful of fries.

"Excuse me, but I don't speak food mouth."

He swallowed, wiping off his lips with the back of his hand.

"You were the one to tell me to eat faster," he said. "Order more fries if you're hungry—geez, you already had two burgers and a basket of your own fries."

"I'm a dancer," she said. "We burn a lot of calories, and I'm tired from morning rehearsal."

She grinned at him, crossing her eyes.

"Are you mad that you invited me to hang out now?"

"Maybe a little," Valon said with a glare, but it seemed more joking than anything. "If I had known you were a food thief, I would have kept walking."

She laughed, the light from New York City filtered through the window beside them. It was almost sunset. She hadn't planned on spending the day at a café with a boy she only barely knew, but she thought this could be all right. She rested her head on her hand, spacing out while Valon finished his fries.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" he asked.

"Oh," Anzu said, realizing she had been staring. "Sorry. I guess…you just remind me of Jou. Feels like old times a little."

Valon swallowed the last of his fries and set the basket down. He grinned slightly, flicking a crumb from his lips.

"Well, I guess I don't mind being compared to Jonouchi," he said. "Too much, anyway."

"Hey," she said, laughing. "Don't you insult him."

"You already did by comparing him to me," Valon said, and she had to laugh again at that. "You owe me a basket of fries now, by the way."

"What? I only ate like, two of yours."

"It's for the psychological pain," he said, tapping his temple. "Of having my food stolen."

Anzu flipped him off and he just laughed, a big, hearty sound that echoed off of the empty café.

This was okay, she thought, eyes sliding to the window. Yeah. This was pretty nice.

A/N: cute I guess? Anzu's a good girl. Next is Caveshipping (Kotsuzaka x Keith).
