In the Pink Diamond throne room, a diamond line was called and picked up by the Pink Pearls, revealing Kiki and Jenny sitting in a booth.

"Is Steven there?"

"No." The new Pink Pearl answered.

"Oh, that's too bad, his girlfriend wants to talk to him."

"Oh, I'm not-" Connie tried to correct.

"He left in such a hurry he forgot to say goodbye!" Jenny interrupted.

"I'm sure he had something important come up," Connie said, trying to defend Steven. Jenny grinned triumphantly at her before remembering their past conversation.

"But he was supposed to meet your mother and he took off."

"Steven learned something important and immediately went to correct it. He lost his ship in the process and had to use a Homeworld warp." One of the Pearls answered in explanation.

"What could be more important than meeting your future mother in law?" Jenny asked loudly. Connie choked on air at the question, causing Kiki to lean over and pat her back.

"What is a Mother?" OG Pink Pearl asked, her good eye furrowing.

"It's like a Kindergarten, the father is like an injector drill." The newer Pearl answered helpfully.

"Is that how Steven explained it?" Jenny asked.

"He gave us a book," New Pearl explained and Jenny snorted.

"A medical textbook?" Connie questioned, her cheeks still red.

"Yes, and he also gave us Passions of Xanxor to put it into context!"

"One moment," Jenny said, her eyes darting off the screen to someone else in the diner. "Hey, Fryboy, what's Passions of Xanxor?" She asked across the small restaurant.

"It's onLY THE BEST FANTASY ROMANCE OF ALL TIME!" Ronaldo exclaimed back.

"That's how Steven got the talk then, those poor gems are going to be corrupted by poorly written smut!" Connie muttered in disappointment. Kiki laughed at the younger girl's comment.

"I like you Connie, we should hang out."

"Yeah! Hey, dad, we're taking our break. Bye Pearls." Jenny bid them farewell, hanging up the line.

Steven landed softly on the dirt ground level of Homeworld, his shoes landing with only a whisper against the dirt.

"Wow, we were high up," Spinel observed from his shoulder. Glancing up, she only saw the remains of ancient gem structures with the newer buildings built atop of them.

"The scans are coming from underground, I'm hoping for a secret rebellion." Steven told Spinel. He started walking towards the nearest entrance to the massive subterranean Kindergarten.

"Rebellion?"

"I'm hoping to find a second rebellion not led by a Diamond. I know there must be gems like us who don't fit the mold, and I'm hoping they managed to survive." Steven explained as they reached the grate to the Kindergarten. The teen grabbed it and ripped it free, tossing it casually away. He jumped down, catching himself on the rim to take a look around, finding a massive Kindergarten going farther than his eyes could see.

"Wowzers, where are all these gems?" Spinel asked, looking around wildly. Steven dropped down, landing softly on the dark floor.

"They were most likely harvested. This was probably the first generation of Era 1 gems the Diamonds used to build their oldest buildings and to take over this solar system to establish their first colonies."

"Oh, I wonder what they were?"

"I'll look into it, I literally have all the time in the world." Steven told her. Soon after, he heard a rock falling and a yelp. He purposefully did not turn towards it and remained where he was.

"Don't look, play along," he told Spinel quietly, and she listened.

"Well, this area is clear, let's move onto the next one."

"Yes, my Diamond."

"Diamond?!" A voice yelped incredulously as Steven walked out of the chamber and turned the corner and stopped to listen in. A few moments later he heard footsteps as he turned the corner to see two fusion gems, conjoined twins, and a Padparadscha.

"I'm glad she didn't see us." The smaller of the two fusions said nervously.

"Why would a Diamond be down here?!"

"Wasn't Pink Diamond shattered?" Asked one of the twins, Rutiles.

"No, she wasn't." Steven piped in. Everyone but Padparadscha screamed in panic.

"She left." Padpardascha said with a smile, her hands clasped in front of her.

"RRUNN!" A slow voice yelled. Steven looked at the source of the scream, registering the most gems fused together he had ever seen. Hexagonal constructs were formed over every passage, even the ones deeper into the ground.

"Wow, so many gems!" Spinel exclaimed.

"Secret rebellion! I'm glad I was right."

"Pink Diamond's back!" Padparascha shrieked.

"Delayed future vision?" He asked the conjoined twins. The twin on the left nodded hesitantly.

"Okay, is there a way to bring her out of her visions and into real time?"

"N..not that we know of…...M..My Diamond."

"Ruby," he muttered, seeing the gem on the stomach of the fusion who spoke.

"I am the new Pink Diamond, and on Earth I was the last remaining member of the Crystal Gem rebellion, led by the original Pink Diamond masquerading as a Rose Quartz. I heard reports of gems living below the planets and was hoping to find gems like me who don't fit Homeworld's mold. I wanted to offer them a place in my court."

"This isn't funny-"

"-if you're going to shatter us." The twins said.

"NO!" He cuts them off loudly, causing the cave to shake.

"I wouldn't shatter you for being different, There's nothing wrong with any one of you. I know this is a lot for you to take in suddenly, but I'm trying to fix the empire, to turn it into something better."

"A..lofty..goal…if…" The larger fusion began.

Steven interrupted, "I don't have long before the others come looking for me, I'll keep the robonoids towards the higher levels to keep you safe. We'll speak again later once I've proven myself trustworthy." The group glanced nervously at one another before they all but ran away from him, disappearing deeper into the Kindergarten.

"Wowie, all that for a few minutes of talking?"

"I'm a Diamond, they were terrified of me. There will be more time to speak later but for now I've started the long path of showing them that they can trust me. Let's head back to the surface, I want to see more of Homeworld before we return to the palace."

"Sounds fun!" Spinel said brightly. She climbed onto his shoulder as he began walking towards an opening to the surface.

"I've never seen a sky arena without damage." Steven told Spinel as he jumped, foregoing the warp pad that most gems would use to enter. They landed quietly on the edge, where they could see a great number of Quartzes of varying types training, sparring, and preparing for their next assignments.

"What happened to the one on Earth?" Spinel asked curiously.

"It was already falling apart by the time I was born, but I knocked it out of the sky a while back."

"Why would you go and do that?" She asked incredulously. Steven just shrugged before sitting upon the stone bleachers and watching as the Quartzes. They were so in their own heads that they didn't even notice him.

"I was testing what I could do, I lost control for a moment and then there was a pile of rubble,"

"Pink had the same problem when I first emerged." Spinel says quietly, a far off look in her eyes. Before the other could comment, the chime of the warp pad rang as a White Agate appeared, taller than Holly Blue, with black patterns running along her skin.

"Dendrite Agate." The Quartzes quickly greeted her while standing at attention.

"New orders, White wants us to gather around Pink's spire to greet her." Steven chuckled and all eyes turned to him.

"M-My Diamond!" Dendrite yelped, saluting as the Quartzes followed suit.

"You have your orders don't you? Go to my palace, I'll be heading along shortly," he said in a clipped tone, his rage barely constrained.

There was a brief silence before he ordered, "That will be all." They all rushed off to the warp pad leaving in groups of four as Steven turned to Spinel.

"Spinel, would you mind going to stay with the Pearls for a short while? I need to go speak to White."

"You.. You'll come back right?" She asked in a small voice. Hearing her tone, he smiled at her.

"You don't need to worry, Spinel. I would never abandon you."

She nodded hesitantly, walking over to the warp pad and warping away. The Diamond hybrid turned towards White's head before grinning to himself.

"I'll need a ride.'' Steven said to himself, a plan coming to mind.
