Bugshipping (Insector Haga/Mutou Yugi)

. . .

"Why are you holding your hand out like that? Are you trying to see if it's going to rain?"

Yugi blinked at him with that dumb look of confusion on his face.

"Um...I'm offering to help you up," he said. "Are you okay?"

Haga stared at him. Then at the hand. Then at Yugi again. His lip curled, and he stood up without taking the offered hand, straightening his shirt by the collar.

"I'm not stupid, Yugi," he said. "You were just going to drop me and make me look stupid."

"No, I wasn't," Yugi said.

"What? Why else would you do that? You don't like me, Yugi."

"That's...that's true, but..."

"But what?"

Yugi finally let his hand drop, clasping his hands behind him and shifting between his feet.

"Well...what you did...I'm not going to forgive you completely yet, but..." Yugi looked down at his feet, twisting the toe of his show into the dirt. "You're a really good duelist, you know. I had fun."

"And?" Haga said.

"And I thought maybe we could start over. We could try being friends this time."

Yugi's hand reached out again, this time in the position for a handshake.

"What do you think?"

Haga just stared at him for a long, long moment. He looked at the hand, and then at Yugi. Yugi, the hand. Was there any deceit in his big, childish eyes? Haga really didn't know if he could tell. Maybe he was just stupid. Stupid, or lying. Haga didn't want to associate with either of those things.

And he couldn't really bring himself to think about the third option, which was that Yugi was actually genuine. People like that weren't real.

"No thanks," he snapped. "I don't need to be humiliated any further."

"Haga-kun," Yugi started, stepping forward with his face falling, hand still out.

But Haga just curled his lip and spun around on his heel, stalking away.

He hoped that stupid sad face was staring at him as he stormed way, with his hand still stretched out... that would teach him...

. . .

A/N: Idk, I have less patience for Haga than I did at the beginning of this project. Next is Buddyshipping (Jonouchi x Honda).
