Boundshipping (Mutou Yugi/Thief King Bakura)
. . .
"You're not the pharaoh."
Yugi tensed, turning slowly towards the voice that echoed in the dark. In this low-hanging cave, there was little light, save for what came from the mouth of the tunnel—which was mostly blocked off by the shape of the man standing feet from Yugi. With his outlines edged in light, he looked like a ghost, violet eyes glinting cruelly. Yugi swallowed. Fuck. He hadn't expected the Thief King here...where were the others? He had just gone in here to see if the pharaoh was here...
"Then again, you couldn't be," the Thief King said. His voice sounded eerily like Ryo's, and Yugi's skin crawled. "Because I killed the pharaoh."
"No you didn't!"
The words tumbled out of Yugi's mouth before he could stop them—they had been trapped, he thought. A worry, a fear tangled up in his chest that he had to desperately deny. No, it wasn't true—this world was made from the pharaoh's memories, which meant that as long as the world continued, the pharaoh lived.
"Oh?"
The Thief King's lips peeled back in a thin, eerie smile. He stepped closer to Yugi and Yugi swore mentally, stumbling back—not that there was anywhere to go. The cave got too thin for him to walk backwards any farther, and he found himself pressed against the wall. The Thief King wasn't too much taller than he was, but it was enough to loom over him. He put one arm lazily over Yugi's head against the wall, effectively pinning him in. His other hand came up to tilt Yugi's face towards him, fingers warm and scratchy.
"You look just like him," the Thief King said. "What a coincidence."
He grinned, leaning in inches from Yugi's face.
"Should I kill you too? Or, maybe, I'll just stick a knife in you a little...you seemed so upset when I said the pharaoh was dead, so maybe he isn't. Maybe he'll come running when he hears you scream—"
For just a second, Yugi's mind blanked out. And then he remembered Jonouchi's lessons about what to do when someone had you against the wall.
He's not much taller than me, so...
Yugi cranked his arm back, and let it fly as hard as he could, fingers digging right under the Thief King's sternum. His eyes bulged, and he coughed, smile sloughed right off of his face. He doubled over from the sudden blow that had knocked the air out of him, and Yugi took advantage of the moment. He darted around the thief and bolted for the entrance.
He wanted to shout, call out to the others, but if the Thief King was behind him, he didn't want to draw the pharaoh in his way...
He'd—just have to run. He'd have to run and hope that he made it out.
