Bounceshipping (Bakura Ryo/Rebecca Hopkins)

. . .

"You know this stuff isn't real, right?" she said.

"That depends on what you believe."

Rebecca rolled her eyes, folding her arms. She sat crosslegged on the other side of the ouija board. Ryo was fiddling with the planchette, sprawled out on his stomach with his legs kicking slowly back and forth. He was still deciding if he was going to attempt to do this session or not. Rebecca was the only one in his apartment for now; Yugi had unfortunately had to call off.

"I believe in facts, and science," Rebecca said. She pushed her glasses up on her nose. "And this is neither."

"Rebecca, you have nurtured a crush for almost four years on a boy who was regularly possessed by the spirit of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh."

Rebecca flushed underneath her freckles, but she didn't seem to have anything to say to that.

Ryo flipped the planchette around his fingers a few times. He sighed. It just wasn't fun without Yugi, after all. He sat up, and pushed the board back into the box, tossing the planchette with it.

"What, you're not going to do it?" Rebecca said.

Ryo shrugged.

"I thought you weren't interested?"

Rebecca glanced off towards the window.

"Well, I mean—sorry, I didn't want to be a spoilsport or something. I mean, I'm the guest, so—whatever you want to do."

Ryo had to laugh, just a little bit. It made Rebecca flush even more.

"It's fine," he said, before she could apologize again. "Really. Let's do something more scientific today."

"Like what?"

"I have some dough in the kitchen that needs to be finished—cooking is like chemistry, right?"

Rebecca snorted, but she grinned.

"I can't say no to science cookies," she said.
