Bayshipping (Kaiba Noa/Priest Set)
. . .
What surprised him first was his hands. They were...bigger than he remembered. In fact, when he tried to stand up, he almost fell over—his legs were longer than he remembered, and he didn't know what to do with the extra leg. So he just sat down, and pressed his hands to the cool ground, and tried to remember what breathing was.
"I see you made it through the Duat in one piece," said a voice that was both familiar and not. "Most impressive."
It took him a few seconds to even remember what his own name was, much less remember how to speak. Noa. That was his name—he was Kaiba Noa. And...and the last thing he remembered was shattering his own code to pieces.
My name is Kaiba Noa. I am the son of Kaiba Gozaburo. I am an only child. I died in a car accident when I was ten years old. I was uploaded into a computer mainframe. I...I tried to kill Seto and Mokuba...and...but...but I didn't? I changed my mind, and then I...
"One thing at a time," that familiar-but-not-familiar voice said again. Noa felt a hand on his shoulder, and he finally remembered how to use his eyes again, squinting up through the sudden light.
A young man smiled down at him—for just a half-second, Noa thought it was Seto. But what was Seto doing still here? Oh, wait—he had the same face, but his skin was way too dark for even Seto with a tan. His hair was longer, too, the same shade of brown, though, as it twisted around his shoulders and fell shaggily between his blue eyes. He smiled again, and even though Seto's face was made more for scowling, the expression looked right on him. He looked...shiny, actually. Something about him was ethereal, golden, and glowing, as though there were light just under his skin.
"Who are you?" Noa managed to mumble. "And...where am I...?"
The man who was and was not Seto smiled at him again.
"I am Set," he said. "And you have made it to the afterlife, where you belong. You've finally passed on. You succeeded in facing Duat and coming to the final resting place."
"D-Duat?"
"Don't stress yourself too much. Your soul won't remember the journey too well. Just know that you are safe."
Noa swallowed, his throat feeling dry. He was...he was really dead, then. Well, there were worse things than being greeted by an Egyptian AU of Seto to the afterlife, he supposed...
He tried to stand again and finally, his body seemed to make sense to him—it was still bigger than he remembered, and as he looked down at himself, he realized...he was taller. What had happened to him? Set grabbed his hand to help him stand, steadying him.
"Why do I look like this?" he said.
Set smiled.
"Same reason I look like I'm only twenty five when I died at the age of eighty," he said. "You never had a chance to grow up in your virtual existence, but your mind continued—your body has simply caught up to where you think you're supposed to be."
Noa's lips parted.
"That's...scientifically unbelievable," he mumbled.
Set just laughed.
"There's a lot of that around here," he said. "Come on. There are other people here for you to meet, and places for you to see."
"You mean this isn't some kind of weird fever dream? It would explain why you look like Seto."
"We just all thought a somewhat familiar face would be the best one for you to wake up to. My reincarnation is Seto, after all."
Noa's head spun a little, but he let Set take him by the hand and lead him out into whatever new world he had woken up in. One way or another, it seemed...things had worked out for him. Somehow.

A/N: Next is Battleshipping (Jonouchi x Seto x Yugi). Also, the guest who said I missed Blessedshipping; Blessedshipping was removed from the official shipping list semi-recently for a lack of content, so I won't be writing something for that one. I only write oneshots for ships that are on the official shipping list at this time. Sorry about that. If you really want to see that one written, keep an eye on my Tumblr for when/if I open requests, and I'd be happy to write that ship then.
