It's been tradition the last couple of years that all the grandkids/great grandkids (who want to) have a movie night/sleepover at Franks after schools out for summer.
This year Alaina chose to go to Megan's, her good friends house instead for a sleepover, with a couple other girls. All the other kids besides Madeline and Dylan would be at Franks.
"Alright I'm ready, let's go guys." Eddie yelled from the bottom of the steps for all 4 kids.
"Coming." Ava said coming down the steps, followed by Ryan, and Scarlett.
"Oh wait I forgot my pillow." Ryan threw all his stuff on the floor and ran back up the stairs to his room.
"Laina!" Eddie yelled for her oldest.
"I'm coming!" She yelled. Eddie went to the door to get her shoes on with the twins and get her keys and purse. Then Alaina started down the steps, her hands were full of stuff.
"It's just one night Lainey…" Eddie said.
"I know." She said slowly making her way down the steps, she couldn't really see.
"Race you!" Ryan said and passed her.
"Stop, we're not racing down the steps." Eddie told him and they headed out the door.
——
First stop was Franks, Eddie ran in to talk to him while Alaina waited in the car.
"Think you can handle them all…" she joked with him, observing 5 preteens all helping themselves to the pizza boxes in the kitchen. They were loud, but in a good way. They all got along so well.
"I think so." Frank said with a laugh.
"Ha…I'm sure it'll be great. I gotta go, take Alaina to her friends house now before she starts blowing the horn at me." Eddie said.
"Wouldn't be the first, won't be the last." Frank said, making Eddie laugh and shake her head.
"Ugh yeah…alright, Ryan, Ava, Scarlett, I'm leaving. Have fun, and be good!" She told them, said bye to Frank and went back to the car. Alaina was texting, probably Megan.
"Alright, did you tell her we're on our way?" Eddie asked getting in the car.
"I don't even wanna go now." Alaina said.
"What? Why?"
"Cause she said Jen is coming now." Alaina was annoyed.
"Okay? What's wrong with her?"
"She's annoying, her breathe stinks, and she thinks she's the shit cause she takes honors classes." Alaina said resting her head back in the seat.
"Hey!" Eddie caught off guard by the language.
"Sorry." She said.
"Schools over now, so I don't think she's gonna be talking about her honors classes." Eddie said.
"Are you kidding? Yes she will, she'll brag about how easy her final was and how she knows she aced it, blah blah blah."
"Alaina you're very smart…your lowest grade was a b-…that's pretty good if you ask me."
"Well why don't you ask dad" she said crossing her arms.
"He's very proud of you! The stuff they're teaching nowadays wasn't even a thing for us! We don't know how to do half the math you bring home."
"I just hate being compared."
"Who's comparing?" Eddie asked.
"Jen knows dad went to Harvard. She says that if I was as smart as my dad I'd be as smart as her too, taking honors classes."
"Do you really thing having brains is all that matters? Because I think being a nice person and having a big heart is a lot more important, and you have both. This Jen girl…does not." Eddie told her.
"Yeah. Whatever, maybe when I get to high school next year it won't be such a big deal."
"It won't. Your going to meet more people too. Hopefully people that are nice…" Eddie said shaking her head, it made her mad this one girl could ruin Alaina's night.
"So what are we doing? Am I taking you to Megan's?" Eddie asked pulling up to a red light, needing an answer before it turned green.
"I guess. I'll just stand up for myself if she says anything." Alaina said.
"As you should." Eddie said and drove in the direction of Megan's.
——
"Hey." Eddie walked in the door to see Jamie pulling a pizza out of the oven. Two glasses on the counter, waiting to be filled with wine.
"Hey, how was your day?" He asked.
"Good, sick of running around but I'm home, and do you hear that?" She said listening.
"Hm?"
"Silence. No kids…we have the whole house to ourselves…" she flirted walking towards him, he smiled and kissed her.
"Thanks for taking care of all that. I would've helped but I was helping Joe on a gun bust." He said.
"It's all good, I'm just excited to have our own movie night with pizza and wine." Eddie said pouring a glass.
"Well I hope out of the four kids none of them are having wine with their pizza" Jamie said.
"Nah." Eddie said.
"You met Megan's parents?" Jamie asked.
"Yeah I have before, but Alaina wasn't looking forward to this Jen girl that was going to be there." Eddie said sitting at the island watching Jamie cut the pizza.
"Oh? She the smart one?" He asked.
"Yeah…how'd you know?"
"Shes talked to me about her before." Jamie said.
"Oh." Eddie felt out of the loop.
"Here, what movie should we watch?" Jamie handed her a plate of pizza and headed to the couch.
"Something we can't watch when the kids are home…" Eddie suggested following.
"American Pie?" Jamie suggested with a laugh.
"Or fifty shades of grey…" Eddie said smiling.
"It's only 6…let's watch both." Jamie said turning the tv on. They sat on the couch with a blanket and ate their dinner while watching the movie.
——
A couple hours later
In the midst of watching 50 shades of grey Jamie and Eddie got carried away making their own. They took it to their bedroom though, they couldn't do it on the couch where their kids sit.
When they were done they went back downstairs to finish the movie.
"Oh crap. Alaina called me 4 times." Eddie said looking at her phone, that she had left downstairs during their *activities*
"Well call her back" Jamie said pouring himself another drink.
"I am. Sh." Eddie had the phone up to her ear already, letting it ring and ring, she put it on speaker so Jamie could hear too when he came and sat down.
"Mom?"
"Hey sorry I didn't hear my phone. Is everything okay?"
"Um yeah, now." She said.
"What do you mean?"
"Can you just come pick me up?" She asked. Jamie and Eddie both confused looking at each other, but neither one hesitated.
"Of course. I'll be there in 10 minutes." Eddie said without another question, she could hear the uneasiness in her daughters voice. She got up to go.
"What do you think happened?" Jamie wondered.
"I don't know but she sounded upset and scared. It's probably something with that Jen girl." Eddie said grabbing her purse and leaving.
When Eddie got to the house, Alaina was sitting outside with her stuff waiting. She got right into the car.
"What happened?"
"I don't even know. I wanna go to grandpas." she said.
"Alaina. Please talk to me, are you okay?"
"Yeah mom. It's just, I don't know, these girls act way different outside of school. Not what I thought."
"What does that mean?" Eddie was thoroughly confused and started to drive away.
"Like Megan snuck a bottle of vodka from the kitchen and-"
"Woah! Did you have any!?" Eddie blew up.
"No! Mom! No!" She defended.
"Good! You know better then that. So who did?" She asked.
"Well Megan obviously, Kelly, Kayla, Anna-"
"Okay so maybe a better question would be who didn't?"
"We'll only me and Cade."
"There were boys at this sleepover?!" Eddie was appalled.
"Not at first."
"Alaina Grace!"
"Just hold on mom! Let me explain!"
"Okay. Yup. I'm calm…let's hear it." Eddie kept driving.
"Okay so. After dinner we all went outside to play flashlight tag, Megan said Cade, Trevor, and Sam were gonna come play."
"Okay no big deal, go on." Eddie wanted to make sure Alaina knew that didn't bother her.
"So we played that for awhile and then we all went in for ice cream, Megan's parents went to bed then and I thought we were gonna go outside and eat it and play more tag but instead we all sat and watched tv. And then that's when Megan snuck a bottle of vodka from the kitchen and we all went up to her room. That's when they all started drinking it."
"Mhm" Eddie was getting mad now but wanted to keep listening.
"Then they wanted to play spin the bottle truth or dare, I decided to play because it wasn't the kissing spin the bottle it was just truth or dare. Well boy was I wrong."
"What happened?" Eddie asked.
"Megan went first and it landed on Trevor, Trevor said dare, and Megan dared him to take his shirt off."
"Oh my god." Eddie was fuming. These kids were 14.
"After that I said I had to go pee and that's when I called you." Alaina said.
"Yeah. Well as mad as I am about all of this, I'm not mad at you. I'm proud of you."
"I didn't like being there. And I was afraid if it landed on me, I'd pick truth and they'd ask me something personal. And then what?"
"You would've not answered, and called me, just like you did. You did good. I hate to tell you this but it's not gonna get much better. Kids are mean, reckless, teenagers are sex driven and stupid."
"Huh. I'm never going to make good friends." She said.
"You will. In time." Eddie said and they pulled up to franks. She got her stuff and headed to the door, Eddie went to. Frank answered in his pajamas. All the kids were still up, watching a movie.
"Oh?"
"It's a long story." Alaina said and went inside, Frank and Eddie exchanged looks. After Alaina headed off to join all the other kids he stepped outside to talk to Eddie, about what was going on.
"Her party turned boys and girls, drinking, playing spin the bottle…so, she called me to pick her up."
"That's a kid to be proud of." Frank said.
"Oh I know it. Just don't know where she got it." Eddie said shaking her head thinking about her days as a teenager.
"Jamie was a good kid. I see him in her more then any of the others." Frank said.
"Yeah…thank god for that." She said laughing. They said goodbye and Eddie headed home. Time to tell Jamie about all of this nonsense.

Good for Alaina! Doesn't seem like Jamie and Eddie have much worrying to do with her! Hopefully her friends don't shut her out of the group now because she's more mature then them! Leave your thoughts and comments!
