"H-Hey, Goku, Orion! We saw that guy take off. Where'd he go?" Krillin asked us as we got back to the group.
"O-Oh, uh… Him? Uh, yeah...I guess you could say he went back home." Goku said nervously. I fought the urge to face palm at that. Oh boy, Piccolo and I are going to have to explain this since Goku seems like he might not be able to.
"Went back home? So just who is this guy?" Krillin asked.
"Uh...He, um… He uh… Well, he's…"
"He's from the future." I interrupted Goku. Goku turned to me with wide eyes.
"Hey! I thought we weren't going to spill anything about him!" Goku told me.
"Yeah, any personal information, but the fact that he's from the future is sort of essential to explain everything else, isn't that right Piccolo?" I asked the Namekian.
"Obviously. If I hadn't just heard it from him, I wouldn't believe anything you two are about to tell us." Piccolo said.
"So you did hear us." Goku muttered.
"He's from the future?" Tien asked.
"You've got to be joking, right? There's no way that's possible." Yamcha said.
"It's true." I told them. "Think about it. It would explain how he's a Saiyan despite all of the known Saiyans being accounted for. He came from the future to warn us about an impending danger."
"Danger? What kind of danger?" Nappa asked.
"In 3 years, a scientist from the former Red Ribbon Army is going to unleash artificial humans that he calls Androids on the world. Apparently, we all die because of them." Piccolo said.
"Die!? All of us!?" Chiaotzu exclaimed.
"And before that, Kakarot and I will suffer from a heart virus and die before the androids even appear." I added.
"What!?" Raditz and Gohan cried out.
"A heart virus? Are you sure?" Bulma asked.
"The future kid seemed pretty sure. He gave us medicine to take when the symptoms appear." I told them as I showed them the vial Trunks gave me. "His story is that I apparently found out about Doctor Gero's plans a year from now and we trained to fight the threat. A few weeks before they were to appear, I died from the heart virus, and Kakarot followed suit a week later. Once the androids appear, you all defeat the Doctor and one of his creations, but he then releases his strongest creations, and those creations kill the doctor, as well as all of you except for Gohan."
"Really? I find it hard to believe that I could be bested by pathetic machines." Vegeta scowled.
"Actually, the kid mentioned how those last two are more like cyborgs than machines." I said.
"So? They're still machines." Vegeta said. I sighed as I dropped the topic.
"Well, either way, now that we know a year ahead of time, as well as know more about the plan, we should be able to change history." I said.
"Whether you believe us or not, I don't care. I'm going to take this seriously though and train as hard as I can. I want to live." Piccolo said. Before anyone could agree or disagree, we heard a strange humming noise. We all turned and looked up to see Trunks in his time machine waving down at us before disappearing.
"...You know, I think I better train as well." Tien said, cutting through the stunned silence.
"Oh yeah, me too guys." Krillin agreed. That's when Vegeta asked us where me and Goku where this entire time and how I just appeared out of nowhere. Goku and I explained how our pods took us to planet Yardrat and how we trained with the people there to learn better ki and spirit control, as well as Instant Transmission. I told them that's how I got from planet Planeptune to Earth, and Goku demonstrated it by teleporting to Kame House, which was on the other side of the planet, and came back with Master Roshi's glasses. There was one last thing that needed explanation.
"Hey Orion, I have to ask since I'm really curious about it, but how come you're still in your Super Saiyan form?" Goku asked me. "The form puts stress on the body and constantly drains energy, so how come you haven't reverted back?"
"Oh that? That's simple. This is part of my training to get used to the form." I told him. "By staying in this form for every activity I have to do throughout the day, I've learned how to perfect the form in terms of energy efficiency. I can turn on Super Saiyan and have no energy drain or stress placed on me at all."
"WHAT!?" Vegeta yelled out when he heard that.
"Wow! That's incredible! So you've completely mastered the Super Saiyan form?" Raditz asked.
"Well...no. I've mastered how to maintain the form without wasting energy, but I'm still far away from mastering the form as a whole. I can still feel a lot of power within the Super Saiyan power that I can't access yet." I told them. I may have been as strong as some of the androids like androids 17, 18, 19, and 20, maybe, but I was nowhere near the level of future fighters like Super Vegeta, Super Trunks, Cell even in his first form, and Android 16 yet. After explaining that, all of us began making plans for how we'll train for the Androids.
Goku and Piccolo agreed to train with Gohan, as well as Raditz to help him achieve Super Saiyan. I was offered to join them, but I refused, saying I wanted to train with Krillin, Nappa, and perhaps Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu. This was mainly so I could help teach Krillin the Kaioken, as well as help Nappa turn into a Super Saiyan.
I offered to help Vegeta out, but he immediately refused, saying how he'll achieve the form himself before Nappa or Raditz could. Tien and Chiaotzu also refused, saying they would rather train themself, but thanked me for the offer. Yamcha also refused, saying he wanted to train with the gravity chamber at Capsule Corp. The mention of Capsule Corp having a gravity chamber greatly intrigued me and Vegeta. That pretty much sealed where I was going to be training with Krillin and Nappa.
Since I mentioned wanting to train in the gravity chamber as well, Yamcha then said he would be happy to train with us. After hearing about the gravity chamber, Tien also decided to train with us, thinking that it would be the best way to improve his power with the Kaioken, and with Tien joining us, so did Chiaotzu. Vegeta then demanded that he also be able to use the chamber as well, or at least be given his own or have that function added to his spaceship so he wouldn't have to train with us, which Bulma said she could do.
"Alright, so let's meet at the site of the attack 3 years from now." Tien said once our plans were made. "Just say where. Did he mention a date?"
"Uh...yeah, he did." Goku said as he tried to remember what Trunks said. Piccolo and I sighed at Goku.
"May 12th, at around 10 in the morning, on an island 9 miles off of South City." Both of us said.
"Thanks. I'm glad at least two of us were listening." Krillin said while looking at his best friend.
"I'll say this. The faint of heart should stay back from this fight. If these enemies are half as fearsome as they were described, every move we make will be critical. We can't have anyone slowing us down."
"Don't worry. We'll be ready for this." Yamcha said.
"Of course!" Krillin nodded in agreement.
"Good! Then in 3 years, we'll meet on May 12th at 9am where Piccolo and Orion said. Unless you're scared or afraid you'll slow us down, then in that case, stay home." Goku said.
"Don't get overconfident just because you and Orion can transform into Super Saiyans." Vegeta shot at Goku. "And don't forget, I promised that I would defeat you, and this changes nothing. I'll surpass you and Orion! I'll prove I'm stronger than you by that time!"
"Fine, go ahead. I look forward to it." Goku said with anticipation.
"Same here. I know you can do it, so when you do become a Super Saiyan and we fight, you better come at us with everything you've got." I said eagerly. Vegeta scowled at us before it turned into a confident grin as he flew away.
The rest of us followed suit as we all went off to start training. Before my group could train, me and Krillin had a few other things to do. Krillin had to go to Master Roshi's place and return his glasses, as well as inform him as to what's going to happen, and I wanted to meet my brother's wife, since during all this time, I hadn't had the chance to meet her. It was very overdue. Goku, Gohan, Piccolo, Raditz, and I all flew to Goku's house in the mountains and I finally met Chi Chi, which was when I finally powered down to my base form, since I remember Chi Chi not liking the Super Saiyan form when she first saw it in the show.
To my surprise, Chi Chi was very happy to meet me. She told me that Gohan had told her a lot about me while I was gone, and she was very thankful for helping him back during the Saiyan attack. I told her it was no big deal and that it was nothing, but she was still grateful nevertheless. That's when Goku told her about the androids and told her how he wanted to train with Gohan, Raditz and Piccolo.
That's when the other reason I came here happened. Chi Chi lost her mind at that. I had never seen a woman yell that loudly at someone before. She yelled at Goku how she didn't want Gohan to fight or get hurt. She wanted him to live a happy, normal life and have him focus on his studies. Goku was having a hard time trying to convince Chi Chi, so I stepped in.
"Hey, Chi Chi, I completely understand where you're coming from. If it were my son, I would also be hesitant to let them fight such a dangerous battle."
"Thank you! At least one of you has some common sense! Gohan's only 7 years old!" Chi Chi yelled at the other adults in the building.
"Yes, but don't you think this is something Gohan should decide?" I asked her. "Gohan told us he wanted to train and fight so that he could protect everyone."
"But-"
"I know you're worried. So I'll promise you this: I won't let anything happen to Gohan when the Androids attack. I'll protect him with my life so that he comes back home to you." Chi Chi was stunned at my words. She thought for a moment before sighing.
"Alright. I'll let Gohan train with you all, but only if you all make sure he's safe." We all agreed to that as Chi Chi gave a sad sigh of relief.
"Thanks Chi Chi. I really appreciate it." Goku said, who then attempted to give Chi Chi a gentle pat on the back to comfort her. Instead, Goku's huge power increase from the last time he was on Earth made it so he literally didn't know how strong he was. As soon as his hand touched Chi Chi, she was sent flying through the wall of the house. We all could only stare in horror at what had happened. "Oh my gosh!" Goku cried out in horror.
"Baby bro, we should run. Like now!" I said as sweat dropped from my face. Everyone nodded as we flew away, a very angry Chi Chi chasing after us.
After escaping the wife's wrath, I left Goku's group and headed over to Capsule Corp to start training my own group. I flew off and finally made it to West City. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Launch in her blonde form, of all people. Since this was our first official meeting, we introduced ourselves to each other. What really caught me off guard was how she asked me where Raditz was. I found myself holding back more laughter as I told her where he and the others were.
As soon as she heard the information, she headed off to find him, but then she sneezed. She turned into her blue hair self and started looking around with confusion. I greeted her yet again and told her what had happened. She understood and thanked me for the information, but she said she was still going to go find Raditz. As she left, I couldn't help but smile. I'm glad Raditz found someone special like that. I hope he just doesn't screw it up.
Once I had dropped off the spare parts with Bulma, along with a sample of the heart virus medicine so she could start making her own for other people in our timeline when the virus starts appearing, I met up with Nappa, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu and Krillin, who arrived shortly before me, and we started training. Nappa didn't seem to like the idea of training with the others, but after a while, he seemed to enjoy it a bit. He even got a rematch with all of them, which proved to be entertaining to watch.
I also started teaching Krillin how to use the Kaioken, which he picked up faster than Tien or Yamcha did. It's probably due to his hidden potential being unlocked by Guru. I also heard that Piccolo, Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu got their potential unlocked along with Krillin and Gohan. This was great news to hear, since that means Tien, Chiaotzu, Krillin, and Yamcha were already much stronger than they were in the original story. And once Tien, Krillin, and Yamcha get better with the Kaioken, who knows how far they could take it. Maybe Chiaotzu will even learn it from Tien, though I don't know if his body could handle something like the Kaioken.
A lot of things outside of training happened during these 3 years as well. The first thing of note that happened was trying to figure out I was going to live. After the first day of training, that was the first problem that came to my mind. "You could stay here, you know. I don't mind. You've given me a lot of resources that have boosted Capsule Corp's technology prowess by several levels." Bulma told me.
"I don't want to intrude. You're already housing Yamcha, Vegeta, and Nappa." I told her. "I would prefer to live in my own place. I've been crashing at other's homes for too long now, so it would be nice to have my own place to call home. I'll probably have to find a job somewhere so I can get money to that end." Bumla then looked at me with a curious look as she thought for a bit.
"Hey Orion, about all that tech you gave me, do you know anything about it?" She asked.
"Uh...yeah? Of course. I know about every piece of equipment I've given you, I think." I answered. "Why?"
"Could you tell me how this works?" She handed me a piece from the space pod that I had given her.
"This is the Main Floater. It's a device that helps the pod fly. It's made by a special alloy the Saiyans, and later the Frieza force mined to create a sort of anti-gravity field inside the pod so that it can fly no matter what kind of gravity the planet has. This type of device is used in every Frieza Force spaceship. If the Main Floater gets damaged in any way, the ship will be grounded until you can replace or repair the Floater."
"And do you know how to repair it if it ever gets damaged?"
"If I have the right materials, then yes. Why? This Floater doesn't seem cracked or damaged at all, which is a small miracle in itself." Bulma then began to chuckle as she pointed at me.
"Well, Orion, if you're serious about wanting a job, then consider yourself the newest member of the Capsule Corp family! I hope you don't hate office and lab work." I didn't realize it at first, but I began to smile at that thought. It was the sort of familiarity that I hadn't realized that I missed. It's been over 30 years, almost 40, since I was reborn into this world, and the entire time, I hadn't had a single moment where I lived somewhat normally. Having the chance to do something from my old life was the sort of thing I never knew I needed.
"I would love to work for you!" I told her happily. And so, I became a worker at Capsule Corp. Since I was a worker now and I had helped provide the company with new resources that they have begun to reverse engineer, Bulma gave me a paycheck immediately and helped me build a new house within West City, even using what was left from my old cruiser to make it. It took a few weeks, but I eventually had my own home that I could settle down in. Everyone seemed happy for me too when they heard about it. It actually encouraged Nappa to go off and get his own place too eventually once this Android crisis was over, which I was happy for him about.
Bulma also made Nappa, Raditz, Vegeta, and I some new clothes, including Saiyan armor and normal Earth clothing made up of the same elastic material. We all were pretty happy about that, especially Vegeta, since he could finally replace his pink shirt. While I still kept the Yardrat outfit that Pybara gave me, I replaced it with a new neon purple shirt and normal black pants. I also kept the Planeptune jacket, and wearing the new outfit made me feel like things were even more like my old life, even though I knew that would never truly be.
A year after I got my new home, Vegeta blew up his ship while training under 300x gravity in it. Everyone felt the massive tremors that the explosion caused and rushed over to where Vegeta's ship was. To say it was completely broken was the understatement of the year. The entire top half of the ship was blown off and broken across the entire yard. "It was only a matter of time. It's reckless to train that hard for that long." Yamcha said as we began to search for Vegeta in the debris. I told them that he was probably fine, a sentiment that Nappa didn't want to agree with but he did. We eventually found Vegeta under the rubble, exhausted and barely able to stand.
"You're alive!" Bulma cried out.
"O-Of course I am…!" Vegeta responded as he tried to stand up, failing as he did.
"That was SO stupid! Do you even realize how close you were to blowing up my home!?" Bulma didn't get to finish yelling at Vegeta as Vegeta fell over again. Bulma rushed to Vegeta's side immediately.
"Vegeta!"
"M-Mind...your own...business…! I...I must keep...training!"
"You can cut the macho act. You won't be doing much training in your condition."
"These injuries are nothing! Nothing, you hear me? I am Prince Vegeta, the strongest Saiyan in the universe, and I will surpass even Kakarot's and Orion's power level! I won't let the likes of Nappa and Raditz beat me to that end!"
"I know you will, but you aren't going anywhere until I say you're healthy enough. Not a second before."
"What!? Who are you to order me around?" Vegeta then got up again, only to collapse. I rushed over and caught him before he hit the ground for a 3rd time.
"Careful, prince. Just take it easy for a bit. You'll be back, stronger than ever, in no time." I told him as he began to lose consciousness. Nappa and Yamcha helped me drag Vegeta into the house and Bulma put medical equipment on Vegeta to make sure he was fine. Dr. Briefs said that it was astonishing that Vegeta even walked away from the explosion with only injuries of this level. We were convinced that it was partially due to his Saiyan nature and his incredible power that allowed him to live.
Later, Bulma discovered that Vegeta had gotten out of bed and had resumed training. I could hear Bulma yell at Vegeta from across the building. It was almost frightening. After a few more days, Vegeta left in his spaceship to who knows where to train. Bulma didn't mention anything about Vegeta for the rest of the time he was gone, but soon after, she kicked Yamcha to the curb, so I think Bulma's relationship with Vegeta may have just started.
Speaking of relationships, the next big event that happened took place another year after that, and was the one I was looking forward to ever since Trunks told me about it. It was finally time for Raditz and Launch to get married. Throughout the year, I saw that Raditz and Launch were getting closer and closer to each other, and Launch, no matter what personality she was, somehow convinced Raditz to go on a couple of dates with her. I could tell just by the small glimpses I was seeing from them, but they loved each other. I had never seen Raditz interested in any female before, but now he seemed completely entranced by her, even if he didn't admit it.
I don't think I've ever been prouder before that day they got married. What made the day even better was when Raditz asked me to be the best man. Raditz was having trouble figuring out how Earthling marriages worked, as well as marriages in general, but he was told that the best man had to be the person he trusted most, and he told me I was the one who suited that role best. I kid you not, I almost broke down in tears right then and there. The wedding was beautiful, with any and all things that even had even the slightest chance of causing a sneezing fit professionally removed. After the wedding, I got to talking to Raditz about where he was going to live now, and he said he and Goku already had plans to build a house near Goku's place in the mountains, which both Launches seemed to have no problems with.
Among other things that happened throughout the 3 years, I also met all of Goku's friends that I didn't meet before, like Oolong, Puar, Ox King, Yajirobe, Korrin, and Fortune Teller Baba, although the later of that tried to get me to pay her for getting her introduction when I randomly met her in the street and introduced myself. I also found out how some Namekians stayed on Earth instead of going to New Namek. That was a big surprise to me and I went to see how they were doing. They settled down near West City so it was close by, and when I got there, I was amazed by how well they were doing. I talked to some of them and they seemed really happy to be here on Earth, and I was happy to see that Dende was there as called the place 'Guru's Haven', which made the place feel even more special. I'm glad the Namekians were able to settle down on Earth, and with Piccolo apparently living with them, I'm sure they will be just fine.
It was a nice 3 years, but all good things have to come to an end. It was a month before the attack of the androids, and I was training with Nappa, Krillin, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Yamcha, the latter of whom had gotten his own place after being kicked out by Bulma. Krillin, Tien, and Yamcha had reached new highs with the Kaioken, being able to reach Kaioken x25 each after almost 3 years of training at intense gravity. Using the Kaioken, they were able to join us when we trained at over 100x gravity for a little bit. Chiaotzu, however, couldn't do the same, as the Kaioken was too much for his body to properly handle or learn. And whenever they were taking a break, Nappa and I would begin training at 200 to 300x Earth's gravity. Nappa saw that Vegeta was training at 400x gravity and getting higher and high, so he wanted to increase the intensity of our training.
We were in the middle of training to help Nappa turn into a Super Saiyan. He was so close to getting it, but just couldn't get that last push. I was fighting him in my base form, not my Super Saiyan form, since I wanted to increase my base power instead of relying on the Super Saiyan form too much. But while we were fighting, I felt a pain in my chest. It was a dull pain, but it was becoming worse and worse over time. I felt my breath becoming more rigid the longer we trained. Eventually, I had to call off the training early. "Huh? What's wrong, Orion? Usually we go for another hour or two." Nappa asked me.
"I just feel a bit more tired today. I promise that tomorrow we'll get a full training session, maybe the other's will be able to join us too." I told him. It was just chest pain, so it shouldn't be a big deal. No reason to make people worried. Huh...I wonder why I feel like I've forgotten something important?
"Alright, if you say so." Nappa said as we exited the gravity chamber. I cleaned myself up and went to see Bulma. She told me that we had a new project to work on.
"Hey, Bulma. I'm here."
"Orion! Perfect timing. Let me just put Trunks down before we start." Bulma said as she made her way to a baby crib to put a baby Trunks in it. It was a little shocking for everyone here at Capsule Corp when Bulma gave birth to Trunks at the beginning of the 2nd year of training, especially after finding out that the father was Vegeta of all people. Baby Trunks actually seemed to really like me, which made Bulma happy since she could use me as an easy babysitter when needed since my job was to just help Bulma with whatever. Once Trunks was put to bed, Bulma led me to the lab where she began to tell me more about this project.
"I have to thank you again for giving me your scouter and all of your Saiyan tech back when you first came to Earth. It's because of that technology that Earth can get better defenses for alien invaders." She told me. "Capsule Corp is helping the defensives of Earth build up power, and with the Saiyan technology, we can make new weapons similar to what the Frieza Force soldiers use, as well as make radars using the scouter technology."
"Is that so? If this works out, then Earth will be able to detect and defend against the average alien invader, right?"
"That's the plan. The weapons are just in the designing phases, but the radars are coming along a bit better. We're ready to begin making the trial version of them. All we need to do is-" I tried to listen to Bulma, but I found myself losing focus on the conversation. The chest pain was worse now. So much worse. It was all I could think about. I found my hand gripping my chest as I took heavier and more pained breaths. "Hey, are you alright?" I heard Bulma ask me as I turned to face her. "You look like you're in a lot of pain, and you always look like you don't get enough sleep. We can do this another time if you need a day off. You have been working nonstop in training for the androids and for Capsule Corp, so maybe a day off would be good for you."
"N-Nonsense. I'm fine. You're just-hrk...imagining things." I said, trying my best to make it seem as if I was fine as I could. She shouldn't be focused on me. This is a big deal for the company from what she said, so I just need to push through.
"It doesn't look like I am. Tell me what's wrong. What I was talking about isn't as important as making sure my friends and employees are ok." Bulma told me. I gazed moved away as I tried to figure out what I should say. I don't want to worry her, so maybe I should make it sound better than it is? My heart feels like it's going to explode, so maybe I should just say it's simple heartburn. I hope that quells her worries.
"I-It's just some heartburn, so-Hrg, it's nothing you should concern yourself with. L-Let's get back to talking about the project." I pushed the words out of my mouth, but I was starting to realize how hard it was not to scream from the pain.
"Heartburn? Wait! Could this be-" She didn't finish as my chest started hurting even more. It was now throbbing in pain. It felt like my heart was being ripped out of my chest, or that it was being torn to shreds. It was so painful, that's all that I knew. I screamed in pain as I started to fall over. Bulma caught me before I hit the ground though and started panicking. "Oh no! It is, isn't it! It's that heart virus! Why is it happening now! I thought it was supposed to show up sometime next week! Guys! Anyone! I need help!" Bulma shouted as loud as she could. Heart virus? Oh, right...Trunks said I would succumb to it. How could I forget? I heard loud footsteps as I began to shiver in pain. My vision was getting blurry, but I could see Nappa, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu rush into the lab.
"What's going on!? Wait, what's wrong with Orion!?" Nappa shouted as soon as he saw me.
"It's the heart virus! Quickly, we need to get him his medicine!" Bulma shouted.
"What!? Wh-Where is it then!?" Krillin yelled frantically.
"M-M-My place…" I managed to answer as I clenched my chest harder and tried to quiet my painful screams. I tried to be more specific, but at this point, moving and speaking were too challenging for me, since whenever I tried to speak or move, I would just yelp in pain.
"Quickly! We need to get him back to his house then!" Tien shouted as Nappa and him pulled me over their shoulders and rushed me to my house, Bulma and Krillin leading the way. I couldn't tell what was happening after that. The pain was too much, and I found my eyes sealing shut as I blacked out.
