Orion's Perspective

"I don't think so." I answered quickly.

"What? Why?" The girl shouted.

"I mean...I'm not really teacher material." I told her honestly. "I'm sure you can find someone way better than me."

"C'mon, please!" The girl begged me. I sighed again. How did things end up like this? It was a simple task: pick up Gohan from school, nothing more. I even wore my incredible disguise to make it easier for me, and yet this girl saw right through it, which is actually a bit concerning since she was the only one to do that so far, and now she's begging me to teach her. I don't even know who this girl is. I leaned over to Gohan, who also seemed to be surprised by this.

"Gohan, just who is this girl?" I asked him.

"Her name is Videl. She's Mister Satan's daughter." He told me.

"Wait, that's her? I suppose that explains why she said 'her dad' earlier." I nodded as I thought more about her request. Mister Satan's daughter, huh? He did ask if I could teach her before too, now that I think about it.

A few months ago…

"DAN DAN kokoro hikareteku, Sono mabushii egao ni~" It was the middle of the day, and I was in the middle of doing some paperwork when I got a call. I took out my phone and looked at the number. Mister Satan? Wonder why he's calling. I clicked the answer button and put it up to my ear as I continued working.

"Hello?"

"Hey Orion. It's me, Mister Satan."

"Hey, Mister Satan. What's up?"

"Well...Can I ask you to do something for me? I hate to ask you to do me a favor, especially after everything you've done for me, but it's really important."

"If I'm able to help, then sure, I don't mind. What's up?"

"Well...it's my daughter. I've told you about her, right?"

"Yeah. Videl, right? What about her?"

"Do you think you could take her on as a student of yours?" His question immediately didn't sit well with me.

"You want me to teach your daughter? Why?" I asked.

"Well…" He began hesitantly. "She's a huge fan."

"Huh?" I blinked a few times as I processed that. "She's...a fan?" That's hard to believe. How could anyone be a fan of mine? It's not like I'm anything special. I haven't even done anything worthwhile. What about me is likeable? All I've done is screw up.

"Yes. She watched the Cell Games and was amazed by you and your friends when you all began using your energy stuff. And after that interview, she's been trying to learn ki herself." Mister Satan told me. "I've managed to help her as much as I can with what you helped me with, but it might be best if you taught her instead. I know she would be ecstatic to train under you, and as her father and martial arts teacher, I can say that I'm extremely proud of her fighting talent. She might easily surpass me one day. She'll be a great student."

I thought about his request before I responded. Well, it would be nice to-no. Stop it. Since when have you ever been a good teacher? Don't go thinking you're a good mentor just because you helped Broly. I know better. I didn't teach him anything. I just helped him gain the control of his own power, something that he could have learned on his own with time. Gohan? That has to be a joke. I didn't teach him anything. That was all Piccolo and Raditz. I was just there training with them. The others with Kaioken? Again, that was something that they could have done on their own easily. I wasn't needed. When have I ever been needed? What do I have that's useful enough to teach someone else? My spiral ki? My techniques? My fighting style? Since when have any of those helped me? Why would I think that they would help someone else? I have nothing to share. Nothing worthwhile.

"I'm...sorry. I have to decline." I responded, a new feeling of self doubt and unease settling in. "I'm just not the person you should be asking that. I might have the best ki control of the people I know, but I doubt I'm skilled enough to teach someone more than what I showed you. There's others way better than I am. I've told you about how 2 of my friends are opening their own schools. You should try asking them."

"Okay. Sorry to bother you again. I figured you wouldn't want to teach." Mister Satan said.

"No, I should be apologizing. I'm sorry I can't help you."

"No, it's fine. I'm sure we'll figure it out. Don't worry about it."

"Alright." We talked for a bit more before we ended the call.

Present

How ironic that I happen to meet Videl herself after saying no to teaching her. She's evening bowing at me as she pleads. It's been months since I rejected the offer the first time, so why is she still insistent that I be the one to teach her? "Umm...Miss Videl?" I began.

"Oh, you can just call me Videl." She told me.

"Right...So, Videl, why do you want me of all people to teach you?" I genuinely asked. "There must be better people for the job, right? I told your dad about my friend's martial arts schools. They're way more qualified than I am, so how come you haven't gone to them?"

"It's because it's not possible for me to learn under them." Videl explained. "My dad looked into those schools, but he found out that they're either too far away for us to go to regularly or in an undisclosed place in the mountains." I sighed when I heard that. The latter was definitely Tien's school. Of course it would be in an undisclosed place. It fits him to a 'T'. Yamcha's school is what I'm more surprised about, though I suppose it makes sense. It's his first martial arts school, so of course he would only have the West City location as a start to see how things go. It makes sense if I think about it. "Please, Mister Orion." Videl begged me once again. "The only other person I can ask is Gohan, but…" Videl began as she turned to Gohan, who immediately shook his head as he put his arms up.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not good at teaching people anything, fighting or otherwise. I've never taught anyone anything before, and I'm still learning too. I wouldn't know what to say." Gohan stated.

"See? You're the only person I can ask." Videl continued.

"Why don't you do it, Uncle Orion?" Gohan asked me. "You said you have the week off, so it would be something for you to do. I could help if I'm able. I think it'd be fun." I thought about it once again. I could already feel the feelings of self doubt rising once again in me. It doesn't feel right. I shouldn't be teaching anyone anything. Nothing I have would help her.

"How about this? What if you did something like a test run. You teach her for a day, and if you are still skeptical, then you end it there. That way you get the chance to see how Videl fairs as your student." The other girl that was there suggested.

"Erasa is right!" The other boy added. "Videl's way tougher than you think! She's a natural born fighter, as expected of the champ's daughter! She can give guys twice her size a run for their money."

"Sharpner...Erasa…" Videl began as her expression started to become more confident. "I'll do that if you want. If you don't want to teach me after a day, then I won't bug you or Gohan about it ever again. Just give me one day to see what happens. Please." I was at a loss for words as to what to do. She's so determined to learn, and her friends are even trying to help her. Do I really want to spit in the face of this determination of theirs? I bit the bottom of my lip as I thought before I sighed in defeat.

"...Do you have a way to contact your father or a family member?" I asked her.

"Umm...yeah?" She answered. I took a deep breath as I opened the back seat of the car I was in.

"Get it. Both of you." I sighed as I gestured to Gohan and Videl. "Might as well get started."

"R-Really?!" Videl shouted.

"Just make sure to tell your dad what's going on so he doesn't worry about you." I told her as I put my hand on my face, pushing my glasses up as I rubbed my hand down my face. "What am I doing?" I muttered.

"Th-Thank you so much!" Videl exclaimed as she bowed repeatedly. Gohan chuckled at that as he turned to me.

"Thanks, Uncle Orion. You're doing a nice thing." He smiled warmly at me. He then turned to Videl and gave her the same smile. "I'm glad you're getting to learn from my Uncle. He taught me when I was younger, so you're in very capable hands."

"Don't say that. You're making me sound like a good teacher." I groaned, my face still in my hand as I questioned this decision of mine. "Well we need to hurry up and head back before Chi Chi tears my head off for being late in getting you home, Gohan."

"Right." Gohan said as he and Videl got into the car. "What about you guys?" He asked his friends.

"We've both got clubs, so we'll be busy." The boy replied.

"You both have fun without us. Good luck Videl!" The girl said as she and the boy walked away.

"Alright. Let's get going." I said as I started the car and started to drive back through the mountains. I took a deep breath and took in the scenery as I drove, trying to clear my mind of all the doubts I was having about this. Meanwhile, oblivious to my worries were the two kids, chatting like they were already close friends. I couldn't help but smile at that. Knowing that Gohan managed to make a few friends today was nice. Still, it didn't dispel all the concerns I was having. Me as a teacher, huh? We'll see how it goes.

Eventually, we made it to Goku's house. I couldn't hide a chuckle as I saw Raditz playing with little Goten and Dina out in the yard as Launch and Chi Chi were chatting nearby. Chi Chi saw us and smiled. "Good. You're back. How was school, Gohan?" She asked as I parked.

"It was better than I thought it would be." Gohan said as he and Videl got out of the car.

"Wow. This is where you live? This is a really beautiful place." Videl said as she looked around.

"Orion, who is this girl?" Raditz asked me.

"Her name is Videl. She's Mister Satan's daughter, and...she might be my new student." I answered as I put my 'disguise' in the car's glove compartment before turning back into a capsule.

"Your student?" Raditz repeated.

"We'll see…" I sighed as I turned to Videl. "Let's get started right away. Don't blame me if I'm bad at this."

"Yes sir! I'll do my best!" Videl exclaimed. Her expectations only made me more nervous as I took a deep breath.

"Follow me. We should move away from the others just in case." I said, leading her a fair distance away from the house. Gohan and Raditz followed and sat down as they began to watch us. When we were a good distance away, I turned back to Videl and began. "So, what do you know so far? You told me that your father helped you get started, right?"

"Yeah. He taught me what you showed him in the interview."

"Can you show me?" She nodded before she put her hands together and focused. Immediately I felt her energy, and soon it was glowing in her hands, causing my eyes to widen. She's really good at this. I can tell just by this. She doesn't have a lot of energy yet, but's she's already able to pull some of it out easily. It's weak right now, since she's only just now learning how to use ki, but there's a lot of potential.

"How's this?" She asked.

"It's good. I'm a little impressed. You already have a good grasp of control on the energy you can bring out." I replied. "Is this all you can do?"

"Y-Yeah…" She nervously said. "I've tried to do other things once I get to this point, but the energy always disperses before I can do anything." She then squinted her eyes as she focused on her energy once again. The energy orb in her hands started to shake and ripple before it burst into tiny particles. Videl took a deep breath and sighed at that. I already know what her problem is.

"You're focusing too much on your energy." I told her. "You're too tense and it's causing the energy to become shaky, making it harder to keep its shape. Try to relax." I then lifted my hand and pointed to a tree nearby. "Focus your energy, but don't tense up your body. Relax and breathe as you pull your energy out of your body." I created a small spiralling orb of ki at my palm as I pointed it to the tree. "And then, like a breath you're holding in, you release it" I then let go of the orb and let it fire off like an arrow, causing it to hit the tree, cutting through it like it was air and putting a clean hole in the middle of the trunk. "Try doing that." Videl looked at me with an amazed expression before she put her hands together once again. She again focused her energy, but she wasn't as tense before. The energy appeared again in her hands, just like before. She then gently pointed the orb to the same tree I had fired mine at. She took a deep breath, and then she released it. The orb didn't go as fast as mine, going at a much slower speed, but as it flew through the air, it started to speed up to much faster levels. As soon as it hit the tree, it caused a huge explosion, destroying the tree completely. Videl stared at the tree before looking back at her hand. Her face then lit up with pure joy.

"I...I did it!" She shouted in delight. "I did it, Mister Orion!"

"You did." I chuckled at her excitement. "And you don't have to call me 'Mister Orion'."

"Hey, Mister Orion," Videl began, ignoring what I had told her. "How come my energy made an explosion while yours went through the tree and kept going?"

"Well...that's because my ki is a bit different in how I use it." I replied while scratching the back of my head. "I spiral my energy so that it's stronger and faster. It's the same principle that drills use to dig through rocks better. All of my energy-based attacks use this spiral ki to some degree to either strengthen the attack, make it faster, or to better break through a person's guard."

"Wow! That sounds incredible!" She exclaimed.

"Not really...It feels like it hasn't helped me much…" I mumbled.

"How come you didn't show my dad how to spiral his energy?"

"It's because it takes a high level of ki control to do. I'm actually the only person I know who can use spiral ki." I answered.

"Then maybe I can learn how to do it too!"

"I'm not sure you can." I told her, but Videl put her hands and created another energy orb. She started focusing really hard on the orb while still staying relaxed. I was going to stop her so we could move on to something she could actually do, but I stopped when I saw her little energy orb slowly spin for a second. I immediately got closer and watched as her orb slowly spun, stopped, spun again, stopped, and then finally slowly spun without stopping. She's...doing it? But before the orb could go any faster, Videl couldn't hold the orb anymore and had to let go, letting the energy dissipate as she started panting a little.

"That's really hard to do…" She gasped as she took her breaths. I was completely shocked. No one up to this point could even get close to doing spiral ki like I could. Raditz tried back when we were kids, but he eventually gave up after a week of trying. He tried once again with Gohan and Piccolo back when we were training for the saiyans, but none of them could do it. Even Broly couldn't do it even after gaining so much control of his power. Her ki control must be incredible! It's not on my level, but it's something I haven't seen at all! And she's a normal human! If she has the potential to learn spiral ki...to learn my techniques and skills...then could I really be a proper teacher for her? "Mister Orion?" I snapped out of my daze when I heard Videl's voice. I turn back to her and see her giving me a weird look. "Is something wrong?"

"...No. Just thinking." I eventually responded. "So, what else do you want to try today? You've learned how to do a simple blast, so do you want to try something more advanced? Maybe a beam or performing blasts in succession?" Videl thought for a moment before hesitantly poking her fingers together in a nervous way.

"Umm...If it's not too much to ask...do you think you could teach me how to fly?" She asked me.

"An ambitious one, aren't you?" I said as I thought about it. "I'm not sure if you'll be able to do it today, but we can go over it and try it."

"Really!?" She yelled.

"I don't mind." I nodded. "So, first things first, flying is much harder than just making an energy orb and shooting it. It takes a great deal of ki control and focus at first, but once you start, you'll be able to do it like it's second nature." Videl nodded at my words as she listened intently. "Now, to start, let's just focus on getting you even slightly above the ground. The process is simple. All you need to do is focus your ki all around your body and then use it to lift you up. While it sounds simple and is on paper, it's hard to do for the first time. It took me a few days to really get the hang of it, and even then it took me even longer to get used to even flying. Let me show you how it's done, and then you can try."

I brought my hands to my side as I focused my energy throughout my whole body. I felt the energy inside me spiral and grow as it surrounded me and empowered my body. Wind started to spin around me and push outwards as I continued to focus on my energy. And then I started pushing my body up with the energy I had gathered. Slowly but surely, I began to rise into the air, slightly hovering off the ground. Videl gasped in amazing as I landed. "Alright. Do you think you're ready to try it?"

"Yes sir!" She responded as she copied the pose I was in and started to focus her energy. I immediately felt her energy surrounding her body, though it was much weaker than mine. There wasn't a lot, but if she has the ki control I think she does, then… I put my hand on my chin as I watched her, now expecting to see something happen. It took a few minutes, but eventually, the area around Videl started to move. The grass beneath her started to shake as her clothes rippled with the wind she was creating. I felt myself smile genuinely as Videl slowly started to hover. She was only slightly above the ground, but she was floating, gently going up and down with the wind as she did. She wasn't able to hold it for long as she soon fell back down to the ground and started to take more deep breaths.

"I...I was flying…" She said in almost a whisper, surprised at what had happened.

"You did." I told her as I clapped. "It wasn't high in the air, but you got off the ground. That's better than even me when I was learning. It usually takes a few days for anyone, regardless of ki control, to even get a little of the ground."

"Really?" Videl asked with wide eyes.

"Yeah. Even Gohan had trouble when he was first learning." Videl thought about what I said for a few seconds before giving me a thankful look.

"It's only because I had you helping me, Mister Orion. I probably wouldn't have done any of this stuff you've shown me today if I was doing it on my own. Thank you."

"Heh...don't mention it." I replied. "We still have time today. Let's try some more things before I have to take you back home."

"Ok!" Videl happily nodded. And so I continued to teach Videl more about what she can use ki with. I got her started on learning how to sense energy and how to properly use ki throughout all of her body. By the end of it, time had gone by really quickly, and I felt like it was time to take her back.

"Ok, Videl. I think it's time to end it here. I should take you back home now before your father starts to get really worried." I told her as she sat on the ground, tired from the training.

"Ok." She nodded as she got up. As she went over and got her things, Raditz came up to me with a grin.

"She's talented." He commented.

"She is." I agreed.

"Are you really going to teach her? If it's you, then she'll really become something else."

"Is that so?" I asked as I got out the capsule and threw it, letting it pop into my car. "Videl's already something special." Raditz nodded as Videl ran back over.

"Ok, I'm ready." She told me before turning to Gohan. "Thanks for having me over, Gohan."

"You're welcome. You should come over again sometime. Maybe Sharpner and Erasa could join us. It could be fun." Gohan told her.

"Definitely." Videl nodded. We got into the car and we started driving back to Satan City. Once we got to Mister Satan's place, which was a HUGE mansion, Videl got out of the car and bowed to me. "Thank you again for deciding to train me today, Mister Orion. I'm really thankful."

"You're welcome. Your father was right. You are really talented." I replied. "For your first day, you continuously impressed me. While your energy is weak right now and there isn't a lot you can use, your control over you ki was far greater than I thought it would be. You're a quick learner too, easily taking in my explanations and applying them immediately to get results. I hope you can keep impressing me this week." Videl looked back up with me with a shocked expression.

"Wait...if you're saying that, then-"

"You don't have anything to do after school, right? It shouldn't be a problem if you come over after school with Gohan for lessons this week. It'd be a covenant for me to pick you up with him. You'd also get to hang out with him, since you guys are friends, and maybe he could help out if we need it." I told her while running my hand through my hair. "We agreed I'd decide after a day of teaching you whether we were going to continue, so this is fine, yeah?"

"Of course!" Videl excitedly shouted. "Thank you! Thank you so much!"

"It's no problem, really. You really did great today, really. I look forward to teaching you more." I told her.

"Of course! I won't let you down, Mister Orion!" Videl told me as she ran into her home. I laughed before I started driving back to the mountains. To think I'd agree to this. It still doesn't feel right. There are probably many people who would be better at this than me, and yet I want to see how far Videl can go with my own eyes. She was like a shining light with how much potential I saw in her. I couldn't help but want to help her shine brighter.

"Hmhp. Let's see how this goes." I mumbled to myself as I drove off.

3rd Person

"Earth...what a beautiful world…" Bojack contemplated as he stared at the blue orb from the bridge of his ship. "It would make for a beautiful addition to my personal collection." Bojack then chuckled. "That is, once I reclaim my collection. The people of this planet might be weak, but the planet itself is quite nice. But with nothing truly valuable on it, it would only be a trophy planet. Perhaps the only use I'll get out of it is using it to make these Super Saiyans bend the knee to me."

His crew had arrived on Earth after their year of traveling through space, and he was surprised, perhaps even a little impressed by Earth's simplistic beauty. To have not been touched at all by the Frieza Force for so long, to have everything it needed to have life thrive in perfect balance, even if it wasn't as advanced as other planets, he couldn't help but admire it. He may be a mercenary, a killer, and even a pirate, but aesthetics were something he couldn't help but take note of. His home planet, before it was destroyed by King Cold, was much the same. It's deep crimson sky and the clear green waters, and the metropolises the Race of Hera made there, despite lacking the resources for truly advanced technology, was something he always remembered. It's why he first became a mercenary. To bring back resources and technology to bring their planet and race into the limelight. Too bad Cold had other plans for Hera. That's when his goals changed.

"Bojack." The leader of the group turned around and saw his crew enter the room and kneel before him. "We have returned from our recon of the planet." Zangya told him.

"Good. What did you learn?" Bojack inquired.

"Firstly, the people of this planet are incredibly weak." Kogu stated.

"It's pitible, really. I'd say that in terms of Battle Power, they'd have no more than 5 on average." Bujin added.

"Is that so?" Bojack questioned. "Truly a shame."

"That leads us into the next thing we quickly learned." Bido then said. "These people...humans, as they're called, are quite ingenuitive. They aren't advanced, nor do they have precious resources, but they managed to come quite far despite that. We even found out that they are now advancing their technology even farther by incorporating Frieza Force technology they have."

"Is that a fact?" Bojack asked in a surprised tone. "Quite impressive. For these people to understand Frieza Force technology and use it despite never making anything like it is a feat. Perhaps these humans can actually be useful soldiers and engineers. I wonder what they can come up with if given the right materials and...motivation." Bojack then turned back to look at the Earth as he continued. "...And the Super Saiyans?"

"We haven't located them yet." Zangya responded. "However, we did learn something that you might want to know."

"Speak."

"There is to be a tournament soon on this planet. One were the strongest warriors, even those not from Earth, are encouraged to compete in." She explained.

"An intergalactic tournament? How quant." Bojack mused. "Hmm...Saiyans are known for their hunger for battle. It's likely we'll find them in this tournament."

"That's not all." Bujin smirked. "The reward for winning this tournament is truly marvous!"

"And that would be?"

"A wish granted by the Dragon Balls." Bido answered. Bojack couldn't help but grin wildly at that.

"Then I suppose we have a tournament to enter then."

"We've already made arrangements." Kogu told him. "The maker of this tournament wanted to have warriors from space as special guests in this tournament. So we offered him our services."

"Wonderful. You all did a fine job." Bojack told his subordinates. "Now then...a tournament, huh? I hope I get to see what these Super Saiyans are made of. I can't hold back my excitement."
