And here I am, back with another Omake chapter. This time, I'm going to develop a bit of the dynamics between SLFR and RWBY. That said, I may take a bit of time to make the scenes work. Especially since I'm making them dive into a bit of some back-story for a moment.

Anyway's, I hope you guys enjoy the following chapter all the same!

I don't own RWBY, and it belongs to Rooster Teeth!

Enjoy!

Side Chapter 2: Lunch Time Ramblings.

Lunchtime is lively, and the students are lining up for the cafeteria food. The kitchen window wafted with the smell of various indulgences for every student that has a certain craving of their own. Whether it be minty fruits, roasted vegetables, braised steak, or even baked pastries; there's a deluxe selection of meals lined up in a buffet for every human and Faunus in Beacon Academy.

"Cookies!" A beaming Ruby plucked a plateful of chocolate chip cookies with her hands, her red cloak flapping in her rush as she took the plate with some breakfast biscuits, on top of some waffles for herself. Ruby's a simple girl when it comes to her meals, and anything sweet as well as fluffy is by all means welcome to go into her tummy.

She grins as she looks at her plateful of sweets and biscuits, skipping over to one of the long wooden tables where her social group of friends sat. The red-hooded Huntress-to-be beamed, as she grew comfortable with her new friend group. After only a good two months of being with them through Beacon Academy and various classes, and Ruby already felt at home with her friends.

Her own Team RWBY, with her as a leader, Weiss, Blake, and Yang as her teammates made for a good group of friends. Yang, as her number 1 favorite sister, is laughing it up as she just enjoys her relatively meat-centered plate. Or...at least, the kind you would see with drumsticks and some chicken wings. Weiss acknowledged Ruby with a nod, the Schnee Heiress being more reserved but willing to give a greeting to Ruby.

Which was more than enough for the red-hooded Beacon student, as they had their hiccups in the past but were slowly getting to know each other. Sable's words rang in Ruby's head for a moment, and coupled with the memory of Weiss getting her coffee while she studied; she gave a warm smile.

Blake seemed more invested in the book she held with both her hands, although her lunch was also unsurprisingly a tuna salad sandwich. Her amber eyes were focused down on the pages, but Ruby couldn't help but ponder amusingly at Blake's repeating pattern of a meal.

But then she blinks as she notices that four other people weren't at the table. Team SLFR, in particular Sable, Lilac, Frey, and Ragnar, are nowhere to be seen. Maybe they're still picking out their lunches? It seems that way, but Ruby smiled without worry. Those guys will come back when they can.

"Hey, Ruby!" Ruby sees Yang waving her over to the table, patting the seat next to her right. Her wide grin and coy glances made Ruby giggle as she sat down and laid her plate down on the table. "Whatcha getting today?"

"Oh, you know me already, sis! I got cookies and biscuits~!" Ruby giggled ecstatically, as she took a bite of her chocolate chip cookie, squealing with childish joy. "Chocolatey, Fluffy, goodness~!"

"So you sacrificed proper nutrition over...sweets?" Weiss quirked a brow, as she leaned her chin on her palm, her ice-blue iris gleaming with a sense of coy sarcasm. "Truly, you are a simple girl."

"Hey, at least I have good taste in sweets! Like, what about you?" Ruby huffed as she pouted and pointed at her garden salad with an up-turn of her nose. "You expect me to believe anybody can eat that? What is it even!?"

"...it's a salad?" Weiss's half-lidded expression served to heighten her skepticism, although she seemed much less convinced about Ruby's taste. "You know, a proper meal? Someone has to watch out for what the rest of the team eats!"

"Are you sure? Because it looks to me like you're afraid of getting a few more inches." Yang snickered, as she shrugged and took a drumstick from her plate as she bit off a huge bite. All the same, she began chewing.

"P-Preposterous!" Weiss recoiled, shooting an indignant glare at Yang. "What's the matter with enjoying someone's own tastes in food?"

"Oh, but apparently sweets are off the menu?" Ruby narrowed her eyes in a childish pout, folding her arms.

"I never said that!" Weiss snapped.

"You thought it though, Ice Queen!" Ruby replied quickly, but their silent teammate chimed in with mild annoyance.

"What's the point in arguing over someone's taste in food?" Blake sighed, looking tired from the back and forth between Ruby and Weiss. "If everybody enjoys their own meals, then what's the issue in a little difference between flavors?"

Ruby blinked at that answer, before exclaiming as she slammed her hands on the table. "This is a huge issue, Blake! I mean, Weiss doesn't like sweets!"

"I never said that, why do you keep assuming I don't like sweets?" Weiss pointed at Ruby accusingly, before hearing a gasp to her left.

Ruby blinked as well, as the gasp drew itself out...and Team RWBY would come face to face with Team SLFR.

Sable tilted a head full of spiked-up white hair, brushed backward to reveal the sun-goggles he wore and pale skin that indicated his albinism, although his expression seemed to be baffled with a raise of his brow. Frey seemed mildly amused, although a raise of his entire brow was the only indication with his tousled brown hair brushed to the side. Ragnar held in a snicker, although he was the only one who waved with a dumb, cracking grin.

However, it was Lilac who held a hand to his chest, his expression feigning mock hurt so convincing that even Ruby fell for the act.

"What...did we just walk into?" Sable groaned, his tray and plate filled with slabs of different kinds of meat.

"Sup, Fido!" Once again, Yang gave a wave back, although she had a dumb grin. "Did you fetch your meal?"

"I dunno, are you still struggling with your comedy routine?" Sable bit back with snark to it, as he took a seat from across Ruby in particular. He glanced at her plate, and he already smirked amused. "...still eating that many sweets, huh?"

"What can I say?" Ruby gave a sheepish giggle, rubbing her head. "Chocolatey goodness, Sable. You're missing out!"

"Meh, like I honestly care about that. I just don't like chocolate, alright?" Sable shrugged it off with an indifferent expression before a flick of Lilac's horse tail landed a thin red mark on Sable's cheek. "Hey, what the fuck was that for, Lilac!?"

"How...dare you desecrate the honor of sweets and treats!?" Lilac jumped onto his seat, his small but lean frame contrasting with Sable's tall and more built frame. "You haven't even bothered to try chocolate chip cookies, or even a smoothie the last time we went to Vale!"

"Except he has...and need I remind you the mess he made afterward?." Frey took his seat, across from Weiss although he seemed more attentive to this conversation.

"Mess?" Ruby asked with a tilt of her head.

"What mess?" Yang followed with a wry grin.

"Don't indulge them." Weiss sighed as she took another bite of her salad, although

"He basically yakked all over the pavement." Ragnar took his seat, shrugging it off and patting Sable on the back with a wide grin. "Dude, can't handle cookies to save his life!"

"..." Sable half-lidded his eyes, before jerking a thumb to Lilac and Ragnar while glancing at Ruby. "See, what I have to deal with?"

"So, we call you Vomit Boy 2.0 from now on?" Yang snickered, leaning on her one hand as she flashed a teasing grin.

"Call me that again, and I will get Lilac to dye your hair." Sable retorted as he nudged his shoulder to Lilac.

"I'll knock his daylights out before he even gets a chance to." Yang dropped the pretense of jokes and gave a warning glance to Lilac...who simply blew a raspberry with his mischievous smile. "Try me."

"There is no try, only when and how!" Lilac snickered under his breath, before taking a sip from his carrot juice carton...colored orange with white highlights around it. "Anyways, what did we miss up until Ice Queen mocked sweets?"

"I didn't mock sweets, at best I'm simply warning Ruby to watch her eating habits!" Weiss sighed sharply, bringing her face down to her hands.

"Why should she? She already has a lot of fun eating sweets!" Lilac shrugged with his hands spread out with a grin, as Ruby took a sip from her carton of milk. "Plus, it's not like you'd have to worry about her getting any weight! She's already plenty filled with sweets that I wouldn't be surprised if she gained a few!"

Aaaaand she choked on it, prompting a gasp from Weiss, a half-lidded stare from Blake, and a...less than amused Yang. Sable blinked at their reactions, while Ragnar stifled his snorts with his hands...and looked away at the same time. Frey seemed to give Lilac a stern stare, while the horse Faunus blinks cluelessly as he tilted his head. "What? Do I have something on my uniform? My face?"

"Well, you are just insensitive aren't you?" Weiss gave a cold stare, folding her arms and flipping her ponytail to the side. "I shouldn't expect any more from you."

"I'll admit...that's a step in the wrong direction." Yang pointed that out with a look that pretty much described her sisterly instincts for Ruby.

Shut your mouth or I'll shut it for you. That's what Ruby could imagine her sister thinking right now.

A phrase that Ruby felt conflicted over, but admittedly she looked down with a down expression. She poked her stomach with both fingers as she asked under her own breath. "Did I really put on some…?"

"What? What's wrong with what I said? I just said that Ruby's already filled to the brim with sweets that-" Lilac didn't get much of a chance to finish that sentence, before he got his foot stepped on by Frey, yelping out in pain. "Ow~!"

"Lilac...Sleipnir." Frey's curt tone left Lilac flinching with a nervous twitch. "You're incorrigible."

"Incorrigible's not the word I'd use," Blake spoke up, although she seemed less amused than anybody at the table.

"Awww, thanks, Blake!" Lilac awed at that, scratching his cheek and giggling sheepishly. "I knew you had my back, right?"

"..." Whether or not Blake meant it as a compliment, she rolled her eyes as she took her plate and stood up from the table. "I'll be in the library."

"Blake? Blake, where are you going? Why are you leaving…? Blake?" Lilac blinked, as he hopped from his seat and tentatively approached with clueless innocence, and growing worried. "Blake!"

With LIlac and Blake leaving the table, Weiss commented with a sigh. "Still...you really should watch your consumption of sweets Ruby. It may have various repercussions."

"W-What kind of repercussions…!?" Ruby gasped out in abject fear before Yang interjected with a cough.

"L-let's just say, sis...you need to cut down on the cookies. Maybe the milk." Yang chuckled nervously at that.

"W-What!? But how else am I going to grow big and strong!?"

"Maybe lift some weights, that's what I do!" Ragnar piped in as he pumped his arm.

"Perhaps that wouldn't be such a bad idea." Frey sighs, although he takes his plate which he finished. "Well, regardless, I shall see all of you later. I have some course books to catch up on."

"Ah, good timing. I was hoping to review some of them." Weiss chimed in quickly, as she stood up and gave a pointed glance at Frey, although something about it radiated more comfort. "Perhaps we could go over them together?"

"If that's you're way of spending time with me, then I am willing to oblige." Frey gave a nod, smiling with warmth as he began to walk out of the cafeteria alongside Weiss.

"I-I'm just hoping to review the material, alright? It's not my fault you're the only one I can do the same with, without losing focus." And Weiss deflects it with a surprisingly quick snark to it, although she seems more...embarrassed if Ruby noticed it. Somehow, that left her questioning even more about those two.

And that left only Ruby, Yang, Ragnar, and Sable at the table...although the hazel-skinned firecracker couldn't help but yawn as he stretched his arms backward. "Well… enough of that...I'm bored."

"Hard to be bored considering our group." Yang gestured to herself, Ruby who still looked down, and to Sable who just rolled his eyes and glanced into space.

"Truth right there, we're a rag-tag bunch!" Ragnar barked out a laugh, as he just stood up and began to stomp over away. "Welp, I'mma hit the training room, wanna come with? Bet I can beat you best 2 out of 3!"

"Oh? Is that a challenge?" Yang gave a wry grin, although she stretched her arms back and forth as she stood up and walked along with Ragnar as well. "Be prepared to scream uncle when I'm done with ya!"

"Hey, that's my line!" Ragnar replied with snark, although by the time they began walking...this left Ruby and Sable alone.

...

"Um...Sable." Ruby tentatively asked as she held a cookie in her hand with a sheepish smirk. "You think I need to cut down on the cookies?"

"...I honestly don't get what the fuss is," Sable remarked to himself, as he went back to eating his meal without care. Even after everybody left him and Ruby alone, the only comment he had to give was...admittedly a blunt one. "You're completely fine."

"T-that was quick." Ruby flinched at the blunt answer, but...she gave out a long sigh of relief as she took a bite of her cookie...and squealed softly in joy. Even after all that, Sable seemed to be the only one who provided at least a few honest words.

And who cares how many cookies she eats anyways? The sweetness of baked cookie dough is worth it! And she's definitely not giving up her milk for anything! Not even if Lilac says something concerning, or if nobody else believes!

Well...at least one person believes. Ruby smirked to herself, glancing over at Sable who took big bites of his slab of steak...and she couldn't help but give a half-lidded stare.

"You really need to try this chocolate cookie, Sable."

"And I told you, it makes me sick to my stomach."
