We are nearing the ending of this story for Ana and Christian. I hope you guys have enjoyed this story as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Ana POV
The last couple of weeks have gone by pretty easily. I've been spending some time talking out my feelings with Dr. Flynn and resting a lot. I haven't returned to work in person yet but have worked from home by video conference and read through lots of manuscript dropped off by Hannah. She comes by the house a couple days a week so that we can catch up. It's been nice to actually start dealing with what has happened to me and luckily we haven't had any other scares with baby Grey. Christian finally went back to work after hovering over me for almost a full week but he hasn't laid off having someone follow me around 24/7. I don't think he knows that I'm aware but Gail and Sawyer are horrible at lying so it wasn't hard to put two and two together. We have an appointment today with Dr. Greene for an anatomy scan of our baby. I can't believe that we are halfway through this pregnancy already. We are hopeful that today we will get to find out if Baby Grey is a boy or a girl. I used to say I wanted a boy or a girl for this reason or for that reason but after all the chaos we've been through the last few months I'll just be happy with a happy and healthy baby. I think back to some of the scary moments in this pregnancy and I shudder. "Mrs. Grey," Sawyer addresses me. "Are you ready to leave?" he asks.
"Sorry Sawyer I must have been daydreaming. I'm ready to go whenever you are," I say inching myself towards the edge of the bed. My baby bump is growing quickly and it has started to make it more difficult for me to move around. It's not necessarily big now but it's definitely noticeable and its hard which makes bending my torso a little more restricted than usual.
"Let me help you Mrs. Grey," Sawyer says stepping into our bedroom and grasping me by my elbow to help me stand. Sawyer has been fantastic, and I am so glad that Christian let him stay with us. I've had a few setbacks when Christian has been out of town, but having Sawyer around has ensured that I still feel safe and have been able to get through it calmly. We head down to the garage at Escala towards Dr. Greene's office across town. "Mr. Grey said he is running a few minutes behind and has asked that we don't wait for him outside of the office. I'll escort you in Ma'am," he tells me as we pull into the parking lot. I do as I'm told, and Sawyer and I enter the doctor's office and sign in at the front desk.
I swear I can always feel my Fifty before I see him. Five minutes after arriving at the doctor's office, the door from outside opens, and in walks Christian. "Sorry I'm late baby. My meeting ran a few minutes over and I got stuck in traffic. Are you excited to see what we are having today?" Christian asks me reaching his hand over and placing it gently on my growing belly.
"Well, Sawyer and I were talking on the way over here and we decided that we aren't going to find out today. Sawyer mentioned that people like to do gender reveal parties and I thought that it sounded like a great idea. We will have Dr. Greene write the sex of the baby in an envelope and give it to Sawyer who will make all the color arrangements for the gender reveal. I texted your mom and she said she would be glad to host!" I tell him excited by the plan Sawyer and I have cooked up while we waited in the waiting room. Christian shoots Sawyer a look that could kill and I can't help but chuckle out loud. "If you hadn't been five minutes late, Sawyer and I wouldn't have had time to think or make plans on something like this, so I guess we have you to thank," I say smirking at him.
Christian opens his mouth to reply, but the nurse steps out and calls my name for our appointment. Looks like I'm save by the bell momentarily I think chuckling slightly before getting to my feet along with Sawyer and Christian to head into the exam room. "Alright Mrs. Grey, anything you need to tell me about the last few weeks? I know it's been a while since I've seen you," Dr. Greene asks me while jotting down some notes on my chart. I look between Sawyer and Christian before deciding that honesty is the best way I can go to keep myself healthy.
"Um nothing super notable just some dizzy spells still here and there, but nothing that isn't controllable. I've been spending most my time in bed or on the couch, so it hasn't been anything super noticeable, but now and again I lose my balance because of it. Only mild cramping every now and again and no bleeding, so I think we are doing good," I tell her glancing over at Christian again. Christian appears to be upset that this is the first he's heard of the dizziness and glances over at Sawyer who shakes his head indicating that I hadn't told him either.
"Dizzy spells can be normal during pregnancy, just be sure that you are getting enough nutrients and if they continue make sure to let me know. They could also be blood pressure related so I recommend purchasing a blood pressure monitor for home as it could be a sign of preeclampsia. Looks like your blood pressure was fine today so I wouldn't be overly concerned about it. Are you guys ready to see your baby?" Dr. Greene asks positioning the ultrasound wand on my belly.
"Yes!" Christian and I say in unison linking our hands together and gluing our eyes to the ultrasound screen. Sawyer looks up after a moment from his phone. I think he's typing notes into his phone about my appointment but I'm unsure so I stay quiet.
Dr. Greene points out legs and arms and the baby's nose before finally asking the question we've been waiting for, "do you guys want to know the sex of your baby?"
"We'd like you to write it down and give it to Sawyer to make arrangements for a Gender Reveal party," I tell her quickly before Christian can disagree. She nods her head and jots a quick note turning and handing it directly to Sawyer. Christian looks frustrated, but wisely keeps his mouth quiet.
"We'll Mrs. Grey, I would like to see you at 30 weeks to check on you and Baby Grey again, but all looks well as of today. I would encourage you to stick with light activity just until the dizzy spells are 100% resolved. Also please keep record of your blood pressure as you check it so we have it for reference in case they continue," she says opening the door and motioning for us to head to reception to book our 30 week appointment. I stand with Christian at my front and Sawyer at my back as I schedule our next appointment. I'm sure to anyone else in here I probably look like a woman who has no clue who my baby's father is but who cares anyway. I'm waiting for this to leak into the tabloids any day now.
Christian POV
The last two weeks not knowing the gender of our baby has been killing me, but today is finally the day! We will be having a dinner party with our closest friends and family at Bellevue tonight and we will finally get to know! I've tried over and over to convince Sawyer to tell me, but he isn't budging and what's worse is that Gail and Taylor know too and neither of them are helping me out either. I keep trying to push them to slip up, but neither of them have given anything away yet. I've searched the whole staff apartment for that note Dr. Green gave Sawyer but he's either wearing it in his coat pocket every day or it's been destroyed either way it's been impossible for me to find despite intense effort. "Christian!" Ana shouts to me. I panic and run towards the bedroom where she's shouting from.
"What is it, Ana? Are you okay? The baby?" I ask hurriedly dropping to my knees in front of her and running my hands over her stomach waiting to feel the cramping of a contraction.
She giggles and rolls her eyes, "we are fine. I was just going to ask you what the dress code is for this evening," she says reaching down for my hand and pulling me to my feet.
"I quite like what you're wearing now," I tell her relieved that it's nothing serious. Watching Anastasia grow the last few months has been incredible and honestly sexy as hell. Her body is changing and it's seriously hot. I'm glad she's agreed to continue working from home because there is no way that we would be able to hide her pregnancy from the world now. I push her back on her back and hover over top of her waiting for her to acknowledge she's okay with my needs. She pulls me in for a kiss and I push inside of her gently. We spend most of our afternoon touching one another, loving one another, and lounging around in bed entirely too out of breath from all the activity. Being close like this to Ana hits home with me though that no matter where we are or what we do my place will always be beside her. I'm not sure how long we have been lounging in bed, but after a quick glance at the clock I realize that we need to start getting ready. "Anastasia, we need to get ready. We have to leave in an hour," I tell her before climbing out of bed.
"Okay. I still have a lot to get done. I need to pick out an outfit, still need to get showered, and need to do something with my hair," she replies to me trying to pull herself up into a sitting position. Her baby belly makes it difficult, so I reach down to help pull her to her feet.
"Why don't you get into the shower, and I'll have Gail pick out something for you to wear," I suggest pulling her into my arms. She laughs at me and nods before heading off towards the shower while I head off in search of Gail.
Ana's POV
We pull up outside of Bellevue just before six o'clock. Christian and I can hardly contain our excitement over learning what Baby Grey will be. Christian climbs out of the car and comes to my door to help me out. He is so careful with me after all the issues that we have undergone in the last few months. Gail did a great job at dressing the pair of us tonight. Christian is wearing my favorite navy Armani suit, but she's replaced his typical white button up with a pale baby blue button up. His entire outfit is in varied shade of blue while Gail has picked out a pale pink wrap dress with matching flats for me. We make our way up to the entrance where we are greeted by Grace and Carrick.
"Ana, you look great!" Grace compliments before pulling me into a hug. Carrick pulls Christian in for a hug while Grace dotes over the growing baby bump I'm carrying around. "Come on in guys! Everyone is here and they are all as impatient as I am," she says pulling me towards the living room.
"Mr. and Mrs. Grey, please have a seat over here," Sawyer begins. "I'll have Gretchen get you both a plate of food." He says heading towards Gretchen and the other servers. Christian and I have a seat on the loveseat set up in the front of the room.
"Ana!" Mia screams running for me across the room. She's decked out in a hot pink bodycon dress clearly advertising that she's on team girl. "You look like you're going to pop any day! How many weeks do you have left?" she asks me while rubbing the front of my belly waiting for the little one to kick her hand.
"Supposed to be ten, but I don't know if I'm going to make it that long," I tell her chuckling slightly.
"Anastasia, you know how important it is to keep this little one in as long as we can. Don't talk like that," Christian scolds me before returning his attention to Ros. Mia rolls her eyes at Christian and then begins chatting with Kate about all the things she wants to buy for the baby.
"Here you go Ana, Mr. Grey," Sawyer says handing Christian and I our plates. I look at the food he's placed on my plate: a mini sandwich, some fruit salad, some veggies with dip, and a crostini. I immediately feel like I'm starving looking at all the great food he's brought to me. I've been eating so much food these last few weeks. I feel horrible for Gail! She's been having to not only make more meals than she was before, but she's had to deal with my cravings as well. I asked Sawyer two weeks ago to put in a pay increase for Gail. She's done such a good job taking care of me and has taken on additional responsibility for my nutrition. When the baby comes, she's also going to be adding preparing homemade baby foods as well, so I felt it was only fair. I asked Taylor to increase Sawyer's as well after the amount of time he's spent doing extra things for me even when he is considered off the clock. I don't know when the poor guy sleeps. I have a feeling he's been napping when I've been napping.
"Thank you Sawyer! These all look delicious! Would you mind getting me a drink and some Tylenol please?" I ask him gratefully.
"Absolutely Mrs. Grey!" Sawyer begins before crouching beside me. "Are you feeling okay?" he asks me quietly with his mouth close to my ear.
I mirror his mannerisms and whisper back in his, "Yep, just a slight headache and a little dizziness," I reply before pulling away and giving him a smile. He nods, returns to his feet, and heads off for the kitchen to retrieve the Tylenol and a drink for me. I'm finishing my food when Sawyer returns with a bottle of water and my Tylenol which I take quickly and return the medicine bottle to him. He disappears back towards the kitchen with my empty plate in hand.
Grace's POV
"If I could have everyone's attention," I begin. "As you all know today we are here to find out the gender of our first grandchild, Baby Grey. I have had the luxury of helping Mr. Sawyer plan the event although I still have no clue what this little one is. We would like to invite everyone outside so that we can go ahead with the reveal," I finish opening the French doors that lead out to the back of our property. I lead everyone outside onto the patio and instruct them all to face towards the water. Christian and Ana make their way through the crowd and up to the front of the crowd. "Alright guys, let's start the countdown! 10…..9…..8…..7…..6…..5…..4…..3…..2…..1….." I say leading the others in the countdown. After a flash of light and a loud boom the fireworks go off into the sky and the gender is revealed.
Christian's POV
"4…..3…..2…..1…." I say counting with the crowd. The sparks shoot up from the floating dock in the middle of the lake and a moment later all my dreams have come true. Blue fireworks go off and a message in the sky reads 'It's A Boy!'. My eyes flash to Ana and I see the tears streaming down her face. I pull her into my arms and kiss her over and over again in excitement. "It's a boy Ana! We are having a baby boy!" I shout to her in excitement. The crowd around us is cheering and hugging us in congratulations. I can't believe that in ten short weeks I will be welcoming my SON! I couldn't imagine a better way to celebrate the addition to our family than a night like this at Bellevue with all our closest friends and family. I'm not sure what the rest of my life has in store for me, but one thing I do know is that no matter where I go or what I do I will always be happy with Ana and Baby Grey beside me.
