Hi all! Here's one of the chapters I wanted to get out before bringing in a baby. I just love writing about weddings ^_^

I actually had written most of this before I wrote the last chapter, which is the only reason why the update came so quickly. Also, this fic is 14 pages long on my word doc. I'm a little surprised I had so much to write about Haley.

Chapter Word Count: 815

Haley's humans were acting strange. Normally she expected this. "Humans usually act strange" was one of the many things the street dogs had taught her. Other important lessons included the best way to chase something and the polite way to sniff another dog. All the things she needed to be a polite dog. But back to the strange humans.

Haley had two humans: Dick and Barbara. Dick rescued her from the street and gave her a home. He was the best human in the world! Barbara was Dick's mate, and she had been sharing the den with Haley and her human for a while now. Haley really enjoyed having her around and wondered when the two humans might start having pups. None of the pups in the pack had any of their own, even though Haley's human sometimes treated Damian like his pup.

Recently, her humans had been spending a lot of time on the couch. Rather than watching the glowing box, however, they were looking at a bunch of papers on the coffee table. They still let her sit between them though, so Haley didn't care what they were doing. As long as they gave her pets when she asked.

On the papers were things that made no sense to Haley. Different types of food, splashes of color, various buildings and rooms, and flowers. Lots and lots of flowers. Which was strange, because neither of Haley's humans particularly liked flowers. Occasionally, one or both of them would play with the band of Babs's new ring, the one on her left fourth finger. From what Haley could tell, they were planning what the humans called a party. She'd seen similar situations when the human pups planned such gatherings for each other or the pack leaders.

Occasionally other members of the pack, or even members of other packs, would come to their den. The papers would be moved to the kitchen table, and all the humans would sit around it and talk. Often, snacks and drinks were involved. The other humans would give Haley's humans suggestions or opinions on the planning. Occasionally Titus would come with his human, and the two would nap while the humans did their human things.

Whenever the humans seemed to settle on a decision for something, a picture of it was put in a binder they had. A copy of each picture was also put on one of the walls in the living room. Haley didn't understand the need for two copies, but she figured her humans wanted a backup in case they lost the binder.

Tim, one of the younger pups in the pack, also spent some time with Haley. Instead of playing, though, he had a weird fabric thing with markings on it. He held it up to various parts of Haley's body before noting it in his phone. A few days after that, he showed up with a contraption. It was rather strange, a wicker basket on wheels attached to a wooden frame. Tim put it on Haley's back, securing it around her tummy. She was scared of it at first, but Tim and Damian helped her realize that she shouldn't be. It was really cool! As Haley walked, the contraption scattered flower petals behind her. It must be for the special party. The humans all laughed when Haley pulled it across the room.

People Haley wasn't familiar with also came to the den. They all seemed to have special jobs. One lady held up fabric to Babs similar to how Tim had done to Haley. She later came back with a white dress for Babs, which she tried on before hiding away. Haley's human had tried to learn about it from her, but Babs refused to tell him. A man came and did the same for Haley's human, though he brought a black tuxedo. It looked very fancy.

Another lady came, bringing even more pictures of flowers and some real ones. The flowers were compared to pictures of dresses and suits as well as pictures of some humans Haley knew. The lady even held up a few flowers to Haley's fur. After that lady had visited, her humans helped her get used to wearing flowers by her ears.

Haley's favorite new person was the one who brought food. He had a bit of everything, from soups to meats to bakery items. Haley's humans, as well as the other human pups in the pack, spent a lot of time eating the various treats. They even allowed Haley to try some of what the man had brought with him.

These preparations went on for several months, and the party had yet to happen. Haley wondered what sort of party took so long to prepare. Most of the time the humans only spent a few days planning a party, a week at most. It must be for something very special.

Why does Haley know some human words and not others? Because sometimes I'm too lazy to come up with descriptions or doggified phrases for stuff.

To show the passage of time, I'm going to put in some filler chapters before the wedding. If you have ideas, please let me know either with comments or the Google Form linked in my profile. I'd love to hear them!
