You where going to kill Perry, you couldn't with Clark...sadly, so Perry would have to do as a replacement. Personality Journalist the name itself was the definition it was just a fancy way of saying Celebrity Blogger. Journalist was just to make a person feel 'important'. You should have known and if that wasn't the worse part, it was who'd you be covering on nearly all their exposé to give and you quote "Good publicity".
One of the newly emerged Superman or in your case the term Superboy fit better. Seem around his age. The one who saved you from getting hit and didn't seem to understand the concept of personal space, was the one you where hired to follow. Hired by who? If Clark was here he wouldn't approve, you tried to fuse about it with Perry but he said since the payment had already been made you were locked in and that you'd better give it your all as well no sass.
Lex Luthor, that was who hired and put the job up. Of course it made sense, who else was egoistic like such to do a thing like this. To promote his newest marketing tool. If you could be anywhere it wasn't here at LexCrop, but you were thanks to..'Superman' taking you. Though you protested shoving his face out of yours' almost caused him to nearly drop you, which would have been fine. But he didn't. He flew you all the way to LexCrops once he got wind of what you were doing after he let you down for a second to collect your scattered things and read the file. Scooped you right back up and hurried you away. Causing you to leave some things.
"So, they sent you?" Lex said as if expecting someone else, rose a brow in disapproval. Standing before you.
You crossed your eyes and stared back nerved. Superboy...correction Superman was kicking back on the couch in Lex's office next to Lex's personal bodyguard Merci. "Yes, they did," you said nerved. "if you have a problem with take it up with Perry."
Lex frowned. "Quite a mouth you've got there, don't you? Hard to believe you're actually related to that mild-mannered Kent." His eyes study you for a moment.
Your jaw clenched and eyes scowled that mirrored John's you were sure of it. Realizing it your look soften a bit. But still held its hardness. "I'm a sort of distant cousin. From his father's side." Hold up the number two. Repeat what Clark told you. "2nd cousin. Yeah. 2nd cousin, from the Salam Massachusetts."
"So you're a witch!" Superboy...correction Superman joked, laughing a bit.
Your eyes shot sharp on him. Grumble, while cursing Perry mentally. Turn your back to him, he stopped and frowned, smirked a few seconds later. "Well," Lex turns back to you. Standing up adjusting his suit. "if this is the best the Daily Planet has to offer then fine," he huffed to the side. "listen and listen well girl-"
"It's Violet."
He waved it away. "Yes, whatever, now listen your job is simple a chimp could do it." Your eyes flashed red for a moment. Lex continued. "Your cousin is quite the journalist so I expect the same from you, you will accompany the boy anywhere and provide countless spot stealing information and articles on whatever social media account to show this city, he is Superman. Do you understand? Nothing but the best."
You look flatly at the boy, he winked with a smirk. Your eyes just roll. "Fine, but," you thumb over to him. "he owes me a new phone, wallet and purse. I wasn't able to get them after he heroically," you do air quotations for the word. "swept me off my feet."
"Um, you're welcome." He retorted.
It went ignored. "Fine," Lex said. "you'll get your things back. Now, for more pressing matter," his eyes fall to your clothes and wrinkle in disgust. Shaking his head. "you will need something much better than that."
"Not all of us can pull off that bald in suit look," you mutter under your breath.
Pretending he didn't hear that Lex looked to Mercy. Snapped his fingers. She came over. "Get this," he pointed at you. "fixed. Fix it well and I mean well. Starting now to something above decent for this evenings' press conference."
"Understood. Come on." Mercy placed a hand on your shoulder and escorted you out. More like pushed.
Eventually you took your shoulder back, moving it away from her. Step into the elevator she followed, pressed the button and doors closed.
The doors opened, this time to fitting room inside a upscale clothing store. Mercy stood not to far away, standing next to you instructing you to keep your arms up and body still taking measurements a woman. She went all around with her tape ruler, then wrote down the measurements. After about five minutes she was done and after another ten to twenty you were walking out with a couple of bags. Three on each arm back to the limo with Merci right behind. She opened the door and you both climbed in.
"Listen up," she said sitting across from you, with her pad open going through it. "the press conference starts promptly around eight, you'll be there by 7:30. Understand?" you give a small forcing nod. She kept going. "Once the conference starts that's where you start or better yet you start the minute you arrive. Putting pu feeds whatever, the moment Superman comes in you'll take a few snap shots, put them up and this will be your headline." She turned the tablet over to you, you read it and almost laugh. But didn't. She took it back. "You're dress will be delivered to you by five."
You raise a brow. "Do I get a ride? Like this?"
She scoffed. "No."
"Then how will I get there?"
"There was another way, but since it became clear you'd rather use two legs you'll have to figure that out. Unless you'd prefer the other alternative?"
You weren't sure what it was, she wasn't really giving any real hints. But you thought about what she said, the dress would arrive at 5:00 that meant you only had an hour and half to get ready, then again that also included getting transportation or you could just easily teleport there but that might...if others saw then...if you took public transportation where you lived to LexCrops building wasn't in walking distance and it would take...
There was no way you'd make it on time. Lean back and sigh. "I'll take the alterative."
Mercy smirked and pressed something on her tablet. "Good, see you at 7:30."
The limo pulled up at your place, collecting your bags open the door, get out and go inside. Taking the elevator to your floor, step out, walk to your apartment find a package addressed to you. This was strange, looking around see no one. Bending down pick it up, take out your keys and go in. The first thing you do is set the bags down, then open the box. With a finger hold it up ignite a small flame and melt off the tape. Being careful not to burn the containments inside, open the flaps and find a new phone, purse, and wallet. There was no return address, what was even more interesting was when you opened your wallet everything was pretty much in there and there was some extra money that you didn't have before.
Strange, not thinking much of it set it down on the bed. Getting ready to flop on it yourself when your phone rang, groaning you go and get it. It was Perry, tempted to ignore it, press green and listen. While he talked you just laid all out on the bed and stared up at the ceiling and let your mind drift off. Eventually he finished after ten minutes. After hanging up you just laid where you were. Not a single thought really came to your mind but one did eventually after some time passed. One that settled a knot in your stomach and stung your eyes.
The last time you did this was about a week ago, you were trying to wing yourself off and do it less but it was hard. It kept pulling and tugging upon you with a yearning to just see. Just to check, there was no harm in checking right? Sitting up hold your hands out before you, take a small deep breath and mutter in Latin the required words, ignite a small ball of dark flames that expanded to the size of a soccer ball. With a single touch from your finger, an image appeared within the sphere of a face and person you couldn't be happier to if it didn't rise tears in your eyes. Yet, you smiled none the less.
He was doing good, still an ass but good. John, your dad was doing alright. Walking the streets of London about to put a cigarette in his mouth. Decided against it when some young women, attractive ones walked by. They giggled and John being John couldn't help but turn his attention to them. Expecting him to follow, he didn't. Instead he gave a wink and continued walking. Where to, you weren't sure. Tapping the sphere again footage of Trish comes up with her mother, they were doing well. As they should, loving and bliss was around them. The two where at home making something in the kitchen, Trish stirring something. You thought back for a moment on the words from Chas, him wanting you and his daughter to be friends. No doubt to continue the legacy that he and John had. The idea of Trish as a friend was a thought, even with the slight age difference. You wondered how it would be? If around the same age, playdates no doubt. Sleepovers too. Tea parties? The idea was a bit laughable but cute.
Tapping the sphere again, Chas came up. He was doing well too, tapping again John appeared. Your trembled, the tears began to rise but didn't fall. Crying wasn't going to make a difference, it never did. Even if it hurt least you could be was happy and still think of the memories you had and the dream that would have been. Inhaling you swallow it all down, end the sight beyond sight and let it be. You'd check in two weeks.
Yeah.
Having enough get up and get your laptop, open it and turn it on. Guiding the curser you click on a certain icon on the desktop and a window pops up. You type something in and soon four different screens come up. One was video inside the Titan's Tower, the other access to your older phone that had a great deal of texts and calls you've missed from everyone. Mainly Beast Boy, Dick, and Damian. Raven never really texted she was more into another way of communicating with you. There was some from Bruce and Jaime. Clicking on that window answer a few of them, saying the same thing.
DOING ALRIGHT.
FINE.
LEARNING ALOT.
JK! LOL!
THXS!
The norm really, you did add a bit to not make it seem too suspicious. After answering a few turn it off. There was still a bit of time before tonight, not much to really do. Normally you'd still be at Daily Planet or following Clark on a story or something. Should he go super during a story you'd remain behind and finish. You didn't help even if he asked you declined, helping wasn't something you wanted to do anymore. You came here for a break a new scene.
With everything that's happened you just really wanted a...life. A fresh one. Nothing dark. Nothing happening just...simple and open and...
"I should just be a famer." you said. "Country life sounds quiet and mellow. Why'd I come to this city? Doesn't matter," you blandly say. "anywhere I go doesn't change a thing. Would it better if I don't exist?"
Not really a question that you really cared not to answer just spewing out things, until you realized what you wanted to do. Sitting up, hop off the bed and turn on the television. Flipping through some things find it, a particular movie, lay on the sofa within fifteen minutes you knocked out. Unsure how long you were sleeping, awoke by a knock on your door.
"C-Coming." you yawn sitting up a bit unhappy, having your dream interrupted go over and open the door. Get something long and covered in plastic and a show box nearly shoved in your face and arms.
Followed by a orderly voice. "Miss Kent here is your dress for the evening."
Before you could respond or register they were gone, holding the dress up by the hanger look it over. You couldn't see it with the dark suit bag that covered it. Shutting the door and locking it head the bathroom. Time to get ready, hanging the dress on the bar towel rack turn the shower on. Choosing more hot and wait for the room to fill with steam. A bath was a good idea, you'd be able to soak up well and nice. You enjoyed those most of all, back at Wayne Manor Alfred always made the best ones, also a bubble bath was the first thing you experienced when arriving there. To clean up and the first time you actually cleaned. It was a new experience, compared to just having water thrown on you counting as cleaning. You remembered being frighten at first believing you'd sink but with Dick's help and the others you managed to take one. Dick actually helped you as you didn't know how to do it. Alfred even gave you a little yellow duck. From there you enjoyed baths, showers where calming too. But, baths where the best.
It was decided, a bath it was. Switching to it, wait for the tub to fill. You add some fragrance liquid, Midnight Kiss. To provide a nice scent, once the water came to a steam and fill, you get undress and slip in. Slowly, the high heat wasn't a bother, it was soothing. Laying back against the back get comfortable. Allow your body to soak and intake the aroma. A mixture of pomegranate, blueberries and dark violets. With just a hint of lavender, it was so nice you nearly fell under its spell and fell asleep. Instead you close your eyes and relax. Still kept track of time, your pick-up would be here leaving you with just some time to get ready. Remaining in the relaxed state for a bit longer open your eyes and a single tear dropped. Quickly you wipe it away and get out.
Grabbing a towel wrap it around, unplug the tub, and open the door to let out the steam so you could blow dry your hair. Taking out the device plug it up, wrap your hair in another towel, get started and dry yourself off from head to toe. Once done go and unzip the suit cover, revealing your dress, along with an annoying note from Luther as well in a plastic back some cosmetics. Apparently this was your color scheme. Sighing you change, though first stepping out to get some personal items. Slip them on first, then take the dryer and dry your hair as much as you could. Eventually you settle with just using your flames, now time for the dress you put it on.
A little dark, form fitting, long sleeve purple dress with a small V-neck line and open back. It looked simple but something told you it wasn't cheap, nor where the matching colored open-toed heels...actually they were more like pumps. It amazed you that you where able to walk in them, after a few times staggering. Now, for the rest, hair and make-up. As you decided on what hairstyle time slipped by, your pick-up was on their way. Flying over.
Finally deciding on a hair style, half up and half down adding purple broach to the up part in the center. Lastly the make-up which thanks to online videos you managed to pull off...ish. Plum colored lips and shimmering reddish-purple eyeshadow, it wasn't heavy nor was the dark eyeliner. Adding a bit of mascara to, your pickup arrived and let themselves in, just a little more. Opening the medicine cabinet take out some perfume and do a few sprays. Giving yourself another look over, making sure nothing was out of place and teeth brushed. Get ready to leave when you almost forgot to put on your choker. With it on exit back into your studio, walk to get your things unaware of the extra person in there and their eyes following you at that moment.
Collecting your wallet and phone, feel a cool breeze. Snap your head up and notice first the balcony doors opened and second Superboy...Superman with wide eyes at you, sunglasses up and all. His eyes look you up and down at first stunned for a moment, they slow down trailing upward meet your eyes.
Flashed a smirk. "Well, you clean up ni-"
"What the hell are you doing in my place!?" you hiss.
"I came to get you." He said in an obvious sort of tone. "Mercy said so, so that's why I'm here."
That wasn't the answer you wanted. "Let me rephrase this so your large mind can understand, how did get in here!?"
He thumbed to the balcony doors. "Through the doors, I hope you don't mind if I let myself in. Nice place by the way." He gave a quick look around, bringing up a granola bar, one of yours and bit into it. You wanted to burn him. Noticing your heated eyes on the bar he laughed a bit. "Oh, sort of got hungry while I was waiting. You might need to go and get some more. Unless," he held it out towards you. "you want some? We can share."
You march over, his smile turned into a smirk ran his fingers through his hair, your hand rose and swatted the bar. Knocking it out his hand and startling him.
"Hey!" He snapped.
You snapped back. With a finger pointed upward at him under his chin. Glare sharply into his grey eyes. He read what you wanted to say and saw the blazing flames too. Held up his hands. "Alright, fine. Sorry." He said rolling his eyes. Turned his chin. "You know if you didn't look so...so..." he stumbled over his words. Closed his mouth. "You know forget it. Let's just go."
"I'd rather take the bus." You turn around and walk towards the door.
"You'll be late."
You throw up and hand not caring. "I have my own way besides the bus."
He wasn't sure what you mean, but you stopped in your tracks realizing what just slipped. It was at that moment he took, flew at you high speed and scooped you up. "Come on."
You couldn't even manage a single word, instead clasped your arms around his neck to secure yourself from falling out, all while cursing him under your breath.
