You couldn't believe that happened...what happened. Never had you meld with someone in such a way. Raven was more the empath. She could connect with others, feel what they feel. All their emotions. She wasn't stuck to just one section like yourself. Negative emotions that was you, it was always you. You could feel them taste them and so forth.
That's what you should have felt with Superboy, you did and more. It crashed down you like a tidal wave, so sudden. One minute you sensing the next you where in deep.
Deeper than you needed to be, it was unsure who's emotions was who. All you knew was you had yet to wash the after effect away. Not even as you showered. The water couldn't take it away. It covered itself around from head to toe. Your skin ran a warm shiver, it should have felt odd.
But...strangely it didn't.
It should have but again...it didn't.
That melding, that link...turning off the shower stand wet and moist...that link..it was so pleasant. But, it shouldn't be...stepping out grab the towel hanging wrap it around, walk out the bathroom. Your studio was empty, this morning. No one sleeping on your sofa or coming in through the balcony. Which you oddly expected, quickly hushed that thought. Snapping your fingers dry your hair, another flamed snapped turned on the television. The news was on and of course the coverage was about all the different Supermen around the city. Their heroics, more so from the cyborg, visor wearing one and the steel one. Superboy was in there more so making appearance from the bookings you did and advertising his latest toy merchandise. Nothing really new on the news, walking over to your dresser stop for a minute before the bed.
Your eyes wanted to look, but you refused and continue to the dresser. Open it take out some clothes. You could easily just snap and they'd transfer onto you. But you didn't, right now wouldn't be good, put them on the normal way. Nothing but shorts and a dark colored off shoulder blouse, walk to the kitchen. Unsure what you wanted to eat settle on cereal. You needed something cold right now, with the heat rising inside. By now you should be off heading to LexCrops or something like that, you decided on a taking a sick day. If you had one. Actually you took a few, the last three days you've been taking them. It was best, you couldn't be in the same room right now with Superboy.
Heat rose to your cheeks at the thought of his name crossing your mind. You nearly wanted to drown yourself in the milk to cool off. Despite the sweetness of the cereal it was tasting bland. Even your taste buds shut down.
Wonderful.
It was just...your mind could still see it. Your nerves could still feel it, everything...that smile he had one...it was plastered. It wasn't real...majority of the time. Nothing but a mask, you knew the feeling. Stare at your own reflection in the milk, for some reason you could hear Clark laughing and giving his wise words. As he put it. For you to be honest and that life wasn't as dark as you made it out to be because of your choices. Because of everything, if he was here right now and you told him what happened. He'd flat out call you a hypocrite, chuckling about it. Perhaps you were, after that time with Superboy you clearly where. Pretty sure the teen saw it too, there was no doubt. Not that you knew how to prevent. Raven sort of knew. But she wasn't here, right now you sort of wished she was so she could help you understand this a bit more.
Enough of the cereal, drop the spoon limply to the side, you needed to mediate or something, that would work. Removing yourself get ready to do just that when a knock came.
Instantly and automatically you look to the balcony, find it empty. A heaviness hit your chest, the knock came again. Behind you, it was the door. Who could it be knocking?
Eventually you got your answer.
"Violet, it's me Lois. Open up." She jiggled the locked knob. Knocking again.
What was she doing here? Walking over open it, she didn't look too pleased, more annoyed with you it seemed. "Yes?" you rose a brow.
"Why haven't you been answering any calls?" her voice sharp and firm. Like some sort of army sergeant or something. The confused look you gave her, didn't help. She held up her phone showing you the many times she called and sent texts.
Reading them you see. "Oh."
"Oh?" She repeated her annoyance rising. "Oh? That's not really an answer, so again I ask, why haven't you been answering? I'm not the only who's called you, Perry too. Even Jimmy, where's your phone?"
You took a moment to think about it. "I put it away for some time."
That wasn't a good answer clearly, her furrow deepened and tightened. She leaned closer, arms folded. Those purple eyes of hers stared hard into yours, you couldn't look away no matter how much you wanted. It took only a second, Lois saw something, and her eyes soften a bit. She stepped back and calmed down. Even her tone.
"Something happened, didn't it?"
Thought it came out as a guess, it clearly wasn't. You didn't want to get into it, sigh long running fingers through your long locks. Groan for a moment, nod, slowly.
"It's okay," you let it slide, despite the long and tighten look your eyes held. "I'll get over it...eventually. But, I'm sorry I hadn't been answering. If counts I've been watching the news." Thumb over to the television.
She looked. "No, doesn't really count. Check your phone."
Grumbling to the side, hold your hand, snap. In an instant your phone appears in swirl of black flames. Turning it on, wait a moment, see how many calls and texts you missed once the screen popped up. She wasn't kidding, there were a couple of voice messages from Lex, that no doubt where angry ones. There was also two unknown numbers that left messages.
"I see.."you muse, nodding. "well, guess I was out longer than I thought."
"You think? Besides coming to get a reason on why you haven't been answering your calls," she shifted the topic a bit. "you're needed. There's a press conference on the launch of the Justice League Watchtower, the president will be there to official help launch it with the league. Perry wants you there. So get dressed."
Your heart sunk, did she just say...the Justice League? If all the members were then that meant...you when white as a ghost. Your white hair was a complete give away about you. If he saw it...then he'd know where you'd been this whole time and...
"You can't decline." Lois spoke before you could open your mouth. "Perry also got a pleasant, and I use that term lightly, call from Lex. Who wasn't too happy, he wants you there too covering his Superboy."
You went from white to red. Resistance knotted on your brows. Lois continued. "On the way you can tell me what happened. Let's go."
With no other choice, despite having one but thinking about the consequence decide against it. Lois waited for about fifteen minutes, it took you around that time to finish. Changing out your casual wear, still keeping the blouse only changing the bottom out to a skirt, and chose dark ankle boots for footwear. The last thing was your choker, it couldn't change your hair color...which you wished it could have. With you ready, leave with Lois. She drove even though you suggested you could teleport the two of you, she opted out.
The ride there was quiet a bit, Lois ended that. "So, tell me what happened?"
No point of trying to avoid it, she wasn't going to let you. Sighing, you do so in the best way. Staring out the window. A few times your eyes would fall to the side or your voice would drop then rise then mellow in a sort of dreamy way. To quickly come back to its monotone tone.
"-And that's what pretty much happened." you finish.
There was no response from Lois, if you could just read minds...right now. You'd be able to know and-she laughed. Lois laughed. That wasn't the reaction you were expecting.
"What's so funny?" you raise a brow. She kept laughing. "What is it?" This time demanding.
After a few more laughs she answered. "It's nothing, just," she shrugged a bit. "your acting like him. It's refreshing. Also, you're making it more complicated than it needs to be."
"How?"
"Well, for starters being able to...meld as you call it, should be a good thing. Not many can do that with others. It seems there are more similarities under everything."
"I shouldn't have been able to feel that, go so deep..." you quietly say. "I have someone already."
Lois chuckled again. "He did too, but, that doesn't always mean it's right. It's about how that person makes you feel and you can be yourself around them."
You rebuttal. "I can, I have...I mean..."you start muttering. "Just not really recently. I mean...a person can find similarities with others."
"True, they can. But it's about how comfortable a person feels with those similarities, you said it yourself you understood what it was like to find out being something your not. It sucks, no doubt. Also, you could have easily sent him away, but the moment he came you instantly picked up something was wrong, and just to add your cheeks have been red this whole time."
You growl hard. Nip. "It's only negative emotions I felt."
"Sure, which is why you melded. If you only sense those kinds, then for you to be able to suddenly sense a wider range, something burst." She pulled in a parked. Cut the engine. "Look, it's just me saying this, but maybe there is something deeper. Something good. Otherwise he wouldn't go out his way to bring you a drink. Where here."
She unbulked and got out. You stayed for a bit, thinking about what she said, get out. The moment you do felt something dark and cold...approaching. It wasn't the grey clouded skies, that seem to grow darker or the chilled winds. No, it was something else..something you couldn't quite put your finger on it, unbulked, get out and look up. At that same moment the cyborg Superman arrived. You weren't sure why but his presence sent an unnerving chill down your spine.
