Chapter 12: Iguano-Loaders
Another day in the crater, another rockslide to be cleaned up by the Trux. A rockslide had somehow redirected itself from Cave-In Canyon to block the river that supplied water to their aqueduct. "Ugh! How did Cave-In Canyon even guide this rockslide down to the riverside?!" Dozer asked as he dozed out some rocks. "I think it must've been that earthquake we had last night. Since both areas are practically next-door, the quake redirected the rockslides down to the riverside." Revvit said. "Well, let's get clearing the rocks then. The faster we move these rocks, the sooner we can clear our water supply." Dozer said. "Dozer's sure in a mood, isn't he?" Shredda asked. "He's always in a mood. But you'll get used to it, Shredda." Revvit said.
As Ty moved a small pile of rocks aside, another set of boulders came crashing down. "Look out!" Ty called. The Trux and Tools quickly got out of the way before the boulders could bury them. "ARGH! How are we supposed to clear this thing?!" Dozer asked in anger. "Every time we try to clear the rocks, another rockslide will start up." Skya said. Revvit spun his bits, trying to think of something. "Perhaps if we try to redirect the river flow around the rockslides to our aqueduct." He said, hopping to a nearby rock and etching out his idea. "But if we try to dig around the rockslide, another might start and bury us." "So, how are we gonna dig a new river without getting buried in another rockslide?" Ty asked. Dozer started to think. "Actually, I think I might know some Trux who might be able to help us." He said. "You? You know Trux who could help with this situation?" Skya asked. "Yep. And I know where to find them." Dozer said.
Dozer led the Trux and Tools to a green plains area in the crater. "This is where they hang around. Plenty of water for them. Fair warning. They're very skittish. Especially to T-Truxes." Dozer explained. "Right. Got it." Ty said. "Shh. They're here." Dozer whispered. The Trux and Tools took cover behind a large boulder as a herd of Trux came into view. The Trux were digging with 2 sets of shovels. One on their arms, the other on their tail. "What are those things?" Skya asked. "They're Iguano-Loaders. They're very capable diggers with their shovels. Perfect to help us." Dozer explained. "How do you know about these Trux, Dozer?" Spinz asked. "I met them with my old herd when I was younger. Many years ago." Dozer explained.
[Flashback]
A younger Dozer was travelling along with his herd across the plains. "We were out travelling the crater, and we were almost out of ore when we came into their territory." The Dozeratops came across the Iguano-Loaders' territory. Just then, a herd of Iguano-Loaders came out and blocked their path. "At first, we were hostile towards each other." The Dozeratops dropped their blades, ready to fight. The Iguano-Loaders did the same with their shovels. "But I stepped forth with a pleading and hungry look on my face." Dozer drove forth with a look of hunger and pleading. As the Iguano-Loaders looked at him, a younger one drove forth at him. "That's when a younger Iguano-Loader came up and presented a piece of ore to me." The young Iguano-Loader gave him a piece of ore. Dozer looked at it and ate it. "With that friendship, the Iguano-Loaders opened their lands to my herd, offering us ore and their friendship." The Iguano-Loaders then offered and shared their ore with the Dozeratops.
[Flashback End]
"Wow, Dozer. Never figured you for a pleading type." Skya said jokingly. "Hey! I had a very cute face when I was younger, okay?!" Dozer shouted. "So, Dozer, do you really think you can ask these Iguano-Loaders for help?" Ty asked. "I think so. Given that they probably will or won't remember me. But I think it's worth a shot. Wait here." Dozer said, driving into the territory. "Be ready in case we have to pull him out." Ty whispered.
Dozer approached the Iguano-Loaders. "Uh, excuse me?" He said. The Iguano-Loaders looked at Dozer with concern and warning. "Uh, perhaps none of you remember me, but my name is Dozer. I was part of that Dozeratops herd that came by here some years ago?" Dozer said. "Dozer?" A voice came from the herd. Then a Iguano-Loader around Dozer's age came out from the herd. "Is that really you?" He asked. "Hauler?" Dozer asked in surprise. The Iguano-Loader, Hauler, drove over and greeted Dozer. The Trux watched as the 2 Trux interacted. "I'm guessing that's the Iguano-Loader Dozer met when he was younger." Ty guessed. "Must be, considering they're so friendly to each other." Skya said.
"So, what brings you back here after all these years, Dozer?" Hauler asked. "Actually, we came because we need your help." Dozer said. "We? Your herd in trouble again?" Hauler asked. "No. I'm working with some new Trux now. They're with me." Dozer said, gesturing to the others to come out. Ty came out first, followed by the others. The Iguano-Loaders gasped and murmured at the sight of the Trux. "So, it's true. There is a T-Trux who's been helping the Trux and Tools in this crater." Hauler said. "Name's Ty. It's a pleasure to meet you." Ty said. "Pleasure. Name's Hauler. So, what can I help you with?" Hauler asked.
The Trux brought the Iguano-Loaders to the rockslide. "As you can see, this rockslide cut off the water supply to our aqueduct." Ty said. "So, we've planned to redirect the river flow by digging a new river." Revvit said as he etched out his plan. "And we need your help to dig that river." Ty said. "This could actually be fun. Where do you want us?" Hauler asked. "We will start over there, at the base of the lake. We'll have the water blocked off until we finish our new river." Revvit said. "Then let's Trux it up!" Ty shouted.
Ty set up a blocker so the water couldn't flow while they dug the river. The Iguano-Loaders started digging the river towards the aqueduct. Dozer used his jackhammer to smooth out the river's path before Skya lowered the blocks for the path. Revvit and the Tools screwed the blocks into place. Soon enough, the Iguano-Loaders' digging reached up to the Trux's aqueduct. Shredda used her saws to cut an opening for the water to flow to the aqueduct. "Well, that's that. Now we just wait for Ty to unblock the water and let the river run through to our aqueduct." Revvit said. They all waited for the water to come, but after a minute or 2, no water came. "Where's the water already?!" Dozer asked impatiently. Skya raised her neck to see what was going on. "Oh no. Ty's trapped under some rocks!" She said. "There must have been another rockslide while we were building!" Revvit said. "Then we gotta help him!" Dozer said, driving out to help Ty with the other Trux and the Iguano-Loaders following.
They all made it to Ty in no time. "Ty! What happened?!" Revvit asked. "Well, I was ready to release the water into our new river. But then another rockslide unleased and caught me by surprise and…well, you can probably guess the rest." Ty explained. "We've got to get Ty out of those rocks and unblock the water at once!" Revvit said. "But how? If we try to move the rocks, another rockslide might start just like at the river." Skya said. "Not if we move them all at once. We Iguano-Loaders can carry many loads of rocks at a time." Hauler said. "It's true. I've seen them do it lots of times when I was younger." Dozer said. "No! I can't take that risk! If we move that many rocks, it could still cause a bigger rockslide and bury Ty!" Revvit exclaimed. "Revvit, we've got no other choice! It's either that or leave him! And I'd rather not leave him!" Dozer said. Revvit hesitated with this decision. "Come on, Rev. Let's try it." Ty said. Revvit was not happy about this, but he nodded. "Let's do this." He said.
The Iguano-Loaders started picking up the rocks in their scoopers and hauling them off. Dozer dozed off the spares. Each time the Iguano-Loaders dumped of a load of rocks aside, they came back to Ty to pick off more. And in a matter of minutes, they moved enough rocks for Ty to get free. Ty managed to burst through the rocks and roar in triumph. The Trux cheered. "Nice work, everyone." Ty said.
Later, Ty finally moved the blocker and allowed the water to flow down their new river and led right to the aqueduct. "It worked!" Ton-Ton cheered. "Our water supply is restored." Revvit said. "Finally! I'm so thirsty!" Click-Clack exclaimed, leaping into the water. "Whoa! Did not see that coming." Waldo said. The Tortools joined Click-Clack, leaping into the water. "Well, they sure look happy." Skya said. "You're right. I want a piece of that action!" Ace yelled, leaping into the water. "Right behind ya, Ace!" Dil called, following Ace. The Trux and other Tools laughed at this.
As Ty rejoined them, the Iguano-Loaders prepared to leave. "Thanks for the help, Hauler." Dozer said. "Anything for a friend, Dozer." Hauler said. "Glad to know there's Trux out in the Plains we can come to when it comes to digging." Skya said. "And loading." Revvit said. "Yeah, but don't think we're lushing out this goodbye. We'll be around when you need us." Hauler said. "Take care, Hauler." Dozer said. And with a final nod from Hauler, the Iguano-Loaders left to return to the Plains. "You got quite the friend there, Dozer." Skya said. "Thanks, Skya. Now let's have a drink." Dozer said, heading for the aqueduct. The others laughed as they followed him.
