Tensions where high, like a thick fog. You could feel it prickle all across your skin it left goosebumps or maybe it was that pending feeling that you just couldn't shake was coming like a tidal wave. Against the city and you had half a mind knowing it had something to do with those...Cyborg Corps people or better Cyborg Superman.

Your injury where you were wounded in the side burned thinking about it, standing by and looking out one of the windows of Lex's penthouse across the city.

Superboy was still gone, you weren't sure if he made it to where Steel was, but you believed he was close. His ripped emblem you held tight. Crushing it further with each passing unsettling thought crossing and rising in your mind.

You needed leave, not standing here doing nothing except having burrowing thoughts. You where tasked with ensuring the city was protected, not just from Superboy but...him too.

And you couldn't...couldn't..tears began swelling in the corners of your eyes, wipe them away quickly, when your phone rang.

"Hello?" You answer.

"Violet."

It was Jimmy, a surprise, but what he said next was the actual surprise and cemented your mind on what you needed to do.

"Thanks, yeah I'll be right there. Bye." You hang up, it was just as you felt. You needed to go. "Lois," you turn around, hurry back to her and Lex, who had brought up something his satellites picked up, brought it up on the screen. Stopped you mid-stride, sent cold tremors all through your body.

For a moment everything faded away, replaced with gripping and paralyzed feeling that sucked your breath away and numbed you momentarily. For that moment you saw them...those red eyes. Those red eyes, red glowing eyes you saw for a moment at attack of Justice League Watchtower. Those eyes stabbed your soul like a heated blade. You thought it left a hole in you.

Who was this...hulking grey rocky skinned individual? With fearing command presence that nearly shook your core? You felt ready to scream.

Was it his voice...you heard from those red eyes?

Swallowing the rising lump in your throat, stare, seeing nothing but this individual. A bead of sweat trickled from your brow to your chin and dropped.

"Violet?" Lois called, you didn't respond, she called you again resting a hand on your shoulder.

You jolted back, catching your breath for a moment. Find her standing by you worry in her eyes. It took a moment to register her and gain your self back.

"Hey, you okay?" She asked in a concerned tone.

Where you? You thought for a moment, "Yes, I-I am," you assure her.

She studied you. "Are you sur-"

"Who's that?" You asked pointing at screen.

Lex scuffed. "Didn't you hear a single word I said? Kids today their short attention, this next generation will doom us all."

You push comment to side.

"That's Darkseid," Lois tells you, your heart dropped for some reason, "he's the one controlling Cyborg Superman. He constructed this whole thing, the Justice Leauge, Superman, and the Cyborg Corps. So he can come and take over. Without any sort of defense here it's left people, defenseless."

"No, they're not," you declared, standing firmly.

Lex looks at back with a raised brow, scoffing shaking his head. "Impossible! What do you propose on doing hmm?" He kept laughing waving his hand off in the air. Much to your irriation."Last time I checked, you're nothing more than...a below competent journalist. Unless you have some magical powers I wasn't aware, there isn't anything you can do."

Honestly, you wondered for a moment, how did you manage to tolerate this man and better how come Superman hadn't punched him hard enough to shut him up already? Because you were itching to set him ablaze, but that was going to have to wait. Instead you settled on shutting him up, giving him a sharp glare he remained unfazed to quickly spring from his seat when your eyes began glowing and the spot where you stood spewed up black flames engulfing you.

"What the hell!?" he shouted, trying to remain calm, Lois smirked to herself stepping back to avoid getting burned. "Lane?"

She looked at him still smirking, opened her mouth to speak but you do instead. "Like I said, no their not." The flames disperse and Lex find you standing with the ripped choker in your hand, which you dropped. Looking nothing like you did before, Lex stared with an open mouth. Chalk white skin, dark markings all over your body from head to toe it seemed. Eyes, seem to remain violet until they turned to pure ebony. Sharper nails, white thick unruly hair, pointed eyes, sharp canines or better sharper.

Clearing nothing about you was human, you stood before him in your true form, tail and all. Lex had to do a quick double take, the last bit flames sizzle off your more...suitable clothing. Dark off shoulder leather bodice with a rather deep plunge in the front and long flared sleeves tattered at the end, stitched in the front with white lace. Exposing your chest a little and leaving your mid section exposed, dark tattered mini skirt with white slash around the waist and dark wedged heeled thigh boots laced with white.

A rather devilish and witchy appearance where the words that came to Lois's mouth, which nearly dropped from what she saw you in. Feeling Lex's eyes still on you, smirk back at him. "Surprised?"

He frowned. "Not the least, now if your done with your little magical girl transformation, don't you have something to do?"

Grunting hard, snarl at the man, he remain unfazed really. Despite your desire to just...now wasn't the time, you look to Lois and tell her you'd hold the line if there was one needed, with that said run out the penthouse to the patio, manifest your fire wings and fly to where Jimmy was.

It didn't take you long to reach him, back at the launch where the Watchtower still remained, there was a huge if not decent crowd of citizens in protest of the Cyborg Corps, who covered majority of the area both on the ground and in the sky. So...automated and robotic, they seem to pay no mind to you coming and landing. Looking around you spot Jimmy in the middle, taking pictures of the crowd, doing his job despite his uneasiness. He shouldn't be here, he needed to leave.

"Excuse me!" you call walking over to him. "Jimmy!"

Jimmy turned to the voice and almost flinched when he saw you, quickly though he raised his camera about to take a picture but you reached out a hand and pushed it down. Get rather in her personal space, standing on the balls of your foot. It still wasn't enough, but the hard glare you where giving him said it all.

"You need to leave."

He rose a brow in confusion. From your demand. "Do I know you? I can't, I've got to stay an-"

You hold up a hand shushing him. If words wouldn't work then maybe a scare tactic would, in a flash with that same hand grab him the collar of his shirt and tug him down firmly. Bare your canines, flash your eyes.

"I don't care!" you growl, "You need to get out of here, do I make myself clear?"

He opened his mouth about to object, you snarl, he quickly shut it and nodded quickly turned and left. Good, he'd be safe, you did something right. Now, back to the matter at hand turning back around to the protesters, their anger and tension was raising high. Picket signs reading not the nicest messages, honestly it was rather delicious sensing all this, pushing down thought deeply you needed to do something to try and keep...the piece in some way. Manifesting your wings fly over to them.

Your presence didn't go unnoticed, they stopped for a moment and looked at you in awe, a few laid hands on their hearts, others gasped with a hand over their mouths. This wasn't the reaction you where expecting but took it, a few murmurs swam through them, you weren't sure what they said nor did you care, you need to find a way to ease all this.

Clearing your throat speak. "An angel." Someone said, shocking you speechless. Your eyes instantly search for the owner of those words, but end up empty.

An angel? Why...someone call you that? That word...that label it left this odd imprinting feeling on your heart, that churned your stomach at the same time caused it to flutter. The last time someone called you that was...Clark. When he said that...you had nothing to say, just as you did now. You lost track of what you came to say and do.

"Hey, you two! Over here!" Lois's voice cuts through bringing you back, the second it did and you turned around seconds too late see her being taken by two of those Cyborg Corps people to the Watchtower.

You rush to her. "Lois!" Missing her, damn, what was she doing?

Just as you get ready to go after her, someone else calls to you sharply. "Hey! Witch Girl!" Lex of all people, turning around look down find him there behind the protestors holding something, some sort of strange box that had the same red circle in the middle of that those from the Corps did on their chest. Lex's pinched expression and narrowing eyes, was irritated.

Ignoring him would only make things worse, so you go and land before him. Mirroring the same expression he had, he ignored it of course. "Listen well girl," he command holding up the box. "since you weren't around for the explanation of the plan, deciding to go off on your own, pay attention now. You see this here, right here? The box?"

You nod.

"Good, now," he began explaining the plan, one that left you rather confused for a bit. It surprised you but it was a solid plan, one that worried you about Lois. Wishing you where there with her right now.

All you could do was keep faith she was going be alright, forcing yourself to believe she was going to be alright, it went south moment you picked up on her distress you flew off like an arrow to the Watchtower. Shouting for her, stop when the Cyborg Corps suddenly conversed together into a large circle over the Watchtower. You weren't sure for what reason, but it soon showed, suddenly their suits glowed and their bodies broke down and stretched out like wires connecting together. Their screams of agony screeched across the skies, their pain was intoxicating you nearly became swept in it, if not for the sudden portal that appeared with a armada of spaceships creatures coming forward.

Your heart sunk, this was a invasion, one that you weren't you could...actually...no! You throw those thoughts away, whatever came through you'd do your best and give it your all to stop them. Even if you could only do so much, you'd do it. Thinking of the right spell that might work for at least a good...small portion of armada, get yourself ready. Inhaling deeply, your eyes began glowing start reciting the spell raise your hands as your blackish-grey glow seal appeared. Spreading your arms wide the seal spreads itself too. Closing your eyes to focus a bit more, repeat the spell at a higher speed each time, your seal began glowing along with your markings, this was going to work...it just had too.

Inhaling once more, deeper than the last recite the last part of the spell fall, when a flash of pain surged through you, the world went by in blur and hard crash find yourself on your back, bewildered with the wind nearly knocked out of you. Echoes of muffled screams swirled all around, or maybe it was just your head spinning because everything felt off balanced.

What hit you? A fright train or something? Whatever it was, you push yourself up, grab your shoulder and hold your side, take a moment to catch yourself and make sense of what was happening. Despite the slight double vision you where seeing, managed to see it what was transpiring.

A fight.

No, a brawl.

The Cyborg Corps against the people, they where attacking the people.

What the hell?!

How did this...there was no time to think about it, right now you needed to jump in, wiping the bit of blood trickled from the corner of your lip rush in. With a balled up fist coated in flames strike the first Cyborg Corps member that flew at you, in the face, knocking along with the burned to the ground. Where they down for the count? Most likely not, super strength wasn't really in your arsenals. That didn't matter, you had to use what you had, without hurting the people permanently. Which was easier said than done, quickly you evade punch by a Corps member, though you could strike back instead command a geyser of flames to sprout up and blast them back.

Slamming a hand down on the ground, it began shaking, growling thrust your hand upward erupt multiple flame pillars. Each one struck a member while missing any civilian, carefully of course. With a simple gesture of the hand the pillars twist and follow your command. Striking, gripping and throwing any Cyborg Corps member, some even managed to melted the thing on their chest, knocking them out. This tactic was doing alright, but it only lasted for so long, a few of the members rushed you. Quickly you evade them, narrowly. Their speed was fast, your reflexes barely managed to avoid them. Keeping distance from them, saw the damage their strength could do, leaving small creators in the ground. Which could be your rib cage or something else, even in this form it only gave you so much durability.

Only so much, ducking you avoid a strike again from the front, get punched in the back. Crash forward, get punched again with the twice the power in the gut by another. They were double teaming you, shit, sucking in the pain...wait for another to strike.

They do seconds after, ignoring the pain grip them by the wrist, twist yourself upright elbow them under the chin. Knocking them away, giving you enough time to take to the air, where you could fair better. With a birds eye view, blast out streams of fire from your hands at them, hitting them down. Dodging again, ax kick those who tried to get you, in the back, to the ground.

Every time one was knocked down, they'd just get back up or more would come. Like a swarm of wasp these guys just...just didn't stop or go down. It seem rather unfair you couldn't just well..end them.

Blasting another stream of flames, dodge, strike them back. Quickly turn around, get tackled and thrown to the ground like a baseball. You couldn't catch yourself, the ground approached faster than you could register it, brace yourself for impact when something quickly swoops down at the last minute and grabs you. Holding you close.

Right away you knew the bridal hold, look, finding Superboy. Your heart swelled, he was alright, thank goodness. You hug him suddenly, to his surprise, it nearly caught him off guard, the way you hugged him tightly. He couldn't help but smile softly inside and touch his forehead on your head. You felt it and smiled, whisper something to yourself, not realizing he heard. Taking another moment, lift your head and eyes meet his strongly. For a moment the world disappeared, like it did back in the penthouse. There came this pull between you both, that took hold pulling the two of you towards one another. Leaving barely any space, Superboy's eyes soft leaning closer for a moment, you do the same when remembered the situation at hand and break away.

"Drop me," you tell him.

He was reluctant but let you go and watched you dive back into the fight, sprouting your wings, cast a spell that did a good amount of damage. He froze for a moment amazed, smirked to himself punching the next attacker.

Dropping to the ground, recalling a spell John taught you, focus yourself and powers. Let them rush through like lighting, manifest your seal over you and below, to each side, clasp your hands together slowly spread them apart produce multiple black fireballs mid air around you. Thrust your hands forward send them all in different directions, like heat seeking missiles they find their targets, the Corps members and managed to strike a few down, while melting what was on their chest. Reciting the spell, send out more fireballs, switching up the words a bit change the shape to tentacle like fire whips attacking anyone who came near. This spell though required the use of your hands and arms. Moving them like an octopus and awareness. You managed to fend off a good amount, to quickly change up the spell encasing yourself in a dome of black flames. Adding extra protection, this managed to hold again any hits.

Good, you needed a slight breather, taking a moment look around the battlefield. Those without protection where getting thrown left and right, your heart dropped, no more...no more losing. No one would be lost, not again.

Not ever again.

Dad, please...help me, sister forgive me, you breath silently, closing your eyes, think of the spell and moment John taught you. A spell that required two do, if not two than it was going to require a fair trade of energy you had to deliver. Inhaling sharply, snap your eyes open directly ahead spread your eyes arms wide on either side.

Winds began picking up around you, mixing with the flames of the dome almost caused it to turn into a cyclone. Lex who was nearly done with opening up the Mother Box, stopped for a moment feeling the sudden updraft turned to see, widen his eyes at you. He couldn't hear what you were saying but the way you looked, clenching your teeth and shaking all over told him everything. Your markings glowing a blinding flash came quickly, Lex covered his eyes quickly, next thing he knew after opening was he outlined in black flames and he wasn't the only one. Taking a quick look he saw those here also had the same outline.

It was quite clear this was some of protection, a protection you managed to pull off and had to hold. You needed to keep holding, that's all you could think of at the moment, the only thing that mattered. All you mind kept repeating over and over again, everything around you faded out, except that voice and...the repeated memories that tore and ached at your heart. You saw their faces...you had to keep this up, you just had too. Despite the cost, it was worth it. Pushing yourself further, every part of you screamed in pain, every fiber down to the smallest cell yelled in agony, but did not break. Digging deeper pull up the power needed, a power you shouldn't be digging in just yet...but it was going to provide you with the strength. Feeling it rush through you, fuel, give one final push...succumb.

The last time you felt this...this power was...just glorious and...thriving.

It was...it was...intoxicating you could...go back...back there and...

"Violet!"

What? What was that? Who was...

"Violet! Violet! Violet!"

That voice? Why did it sound so...familiar? That touch...that gentle and strong touch...how...just...that touch you hadn't felt that sort of touch for some time...and...

"Violet! Violet!"

That voice again, with the touch they where one...who was that...looking around you see nothing but emptiness...nothing but...wait! That light, who's light was that, did that belong to that voice and touch? Did it?

Slowly you reach out to it, it wasn't far, in fact it reached back. It was so warm...so warm, so bright...closing your eyes let it swallow you up.

Opening your eyes find a white ceiling staring back. A ceiling? You don't remember this, not in a long shot, the last thing you could recall was...a very...dark place and...the battle! That clearly was over from the look of it, and it seemed the other side lost, as there where no one flying around in a black and red suit you could find after you sat up and looked out the window. There was nothing but Metropolis itself in the light of day. The city was back to normal, that was good.

Peace, in a sense, inhaling close your eyes and sit with the suns' rays warming you. It felt nice. Very nice.

"Well, someone's up," Lois' voice broke through, opening your eyes, turn around finding her at the door of your room or better hospital room holding a Get Well teddy. Wearing her famous smirk and behind her to your joy, dressed in their civilian clothes, Clark.

"Hey, Violet," he greeted you.

You couldn't believe it, he was actually...actually...tears rose up but did not fall. Instead you smile welcoming him back, he goes over and before you could finish hugs you. It felt weird for a moment, but you followed, hugging him back. Nearly digging your nails into his shoulder, Lois stood back watching you two. Wiping away the tears that rose, walked over to join, hugging you after Clark. You accept it, it was after you had a request...for Clark.

He listen, Lois though seem to know what it was and couldn't help but smile nudging you lightly.

"So, is that alright, Clark?" you asked finishing what you said.

For a moment he was taken back by this, but understood. "Sure, I think it's a good idea, I think it might do you some good. Are you sure though?"

You take a moment and look out the window, you where sure, there was no doubt about it. You needed this and they seem like the perfect place to go. "Yes, I'm sure."

"Well, alright then, I'll let them know," he said taking out his cellphone, "they'll be happy to have you. I hope you don't mind collecting eggs."

You wouldn't mind, fresh air..open space for miles and miles all around. Watching sunrises and sunsets, taking nice long walks to wherever. Laying on green grass under a tree in the shade...some peace and quiet. To just relax and...rest. You needed to go there.

Smallville, Kansas.

Arriving to the small town, you take the single suitcase packed and walk in the direction of a particular farm house on the outskirts of the town. Dressed in a jean shorts, white blouse, and brown boots. Your hair in a ponytail, make your way there, sure you could easily fly there but you didn't want too. Instead took the scenic route.

Clear clean skies, birds flying over, the sun coming down. The smell of open fields and farm land, dragonflies buzzing about. Cows grazing that you stopped to look at, even at the cornfield. It was nice, out here, the Kents' house was coming up, it didn't take long for you to reach it. It was so homey looking with its two stories and open pastures of farm land, there was a barn behind it and a chicken coop.

Cute, you thought, climbing the stairs, notice a porch swing. That would be nice to sit at night to watch fireflies. Putting a pin in that thought, reach out and ring the doorbell.

Hopefully you looked presentable, or at least...they wouldn't be frighten of your appearance. Hearing a sweet voice from inside, with approaching footsteps, quickly you try to adjust yourself, when the door opened and Mrs. Kent stepped out with a smile.

It was a kind and warm smile. One that you warmed you a bit, you smile back. "Umm...well..."

"Hello, dear." She greeted you, opening the door further, stepping side. "welcome home," you where stunned for a moment at that word, before stepping in, she closed the door behind you. Even inside the place was homey and cozy. And what was that delicious warm smell? You take another sniff becoming lost in it, that you didn't hear Mrs. Kent call for someone, until their voice brought you back.

"Violet! You're here!" Superboy stepped in, smiling from ear to ear softly, dressed differently in a blue sweater and pants no longer high styled clothes.

Your eyes widen for a moment upon seeing him, but smile back, quickly dropping your bag go to hug him. He beat you though with his speed, lifting you up like a feather, getting you smile and laugh. Mrs. Kent stood back watching the two teens when husband came in and stood by his wife's side looking on warmly. Superboy brought you down gently, still holding you around the waist and close. Pressing his forehead lightly on yours, you do the same smiling to yourself as he did too.

There was that pull again, that increased when his greyish-blue eyes held your purple ones. The world went away and again it was just the two of you again, that is until Superboy remembered something.

"By the way, I go by Conner now," he said, a bit bashfully.

A small laughter slips out from you. "That's fine, I think it fits you better, Conner."

His smile brighten and cheeks redden a bit. Mrs. Kent and Mr. Kent laugh with one another, breaking the moment between the two teens. The two of you separate quickly, but not too far. Conner still kept you close and started talking none stop about everything here, it was nice to see him happy. Mr. Kent came over to get your bag and show to your room. You follow him upstairs, Mrs. Kent and Conner stayed back downstairs, on the way there Mr. Kent quickly gave you the run down of the rules, especially when it came to powers. Which you where fine with.

"Here we are," he said, opening the room.

You peer inside, it wasn't as big the room you had back at Wayne Manor or with the Teen Titans or your studio. Not even close, it was a nice cozy size, over looking the fields. The room had everything it needed and it was quite clear this belonged to another girl before you came. You saw a picture of her on the dresser, she had long blonde hair and blue eyes, standing next to Clark. There was some sort of family resemblance there, she looked like.

"Oh, that's our niece Kara Kent," Mr. Kent told you, "she's off on her own adventures." He set your suitcase down. "Take all the time you need to get settled." Giving you a warm smile, he leaves you.

A bookshelf, a simple wooden dresser, closet space, a desk with a lamp. A white wooden framed bed, with white and pink pillows, sheets, and comforter. A couple of plushies, which where cute. Matching drapes, a simple ceiling fan...the works. A simple place.

A perfect place, smiling to yourself walk over to the bed, turn around and fall back.

Yep, this was it.

Reaching for the small blue jay plushie hold it close and smile.

Contently.
