Smile.

You automatically smiled the moment you and Conner arrived meet up with his friends at the fair. The smile wasn't a big one from ear to ear or small dainty one. It was pleasant and friendly. Presenting an yourself as approachable and friendly. Which worked, they quickly welcomed you. The girls first, both whom where thrilled to meet you. Complementing you on your outfit. You did the same with them.

The guys stood with Conner surprised, teasing him that he wasn't lying. Which you overheard. They came over welcoming you. You shook it each hand, pressing your smile more against horrid images that flashed in your mind. Their lifeless bodies upon the charred and barren earth. Faced down, the sound of distant screams of agony blew in the wind.

It was a horrible sight. But you smiled anyway. Now was not the time to let those things effect this precious time. After the last shaken hand you move next to Conner and hold him by the arm. Everyone else paired up. Go in as a group onto the fair grounds.

The place was noisy as it was bright. Filled with flashing colorful lights from rides, games, food stands..just everything. There was a sea of people all around enjoying themselves. Your heart wrenched with every smile, seeing from every quick blink a glimpse of their corpse, either maimed, torn, cleaved or worse. Nothing but red...the ground damaged and soaked in it. You had to use every bit of yourself to move away from such scenes, while sick to your stomach. Maybe coming here wasn't a good idea...you should have stayed back...you should have just...

"So, Violet, where are you from?" Mary asked, thankfully bringing you back.

"Huh?" you repeat missing the question, she asked again, "Oh well, I'm from umm..."Tempted to just say the truth, discard it deciding between either Gotham or Metropolis. England maybe? "I was born in England, though moved to the states when I was a baby."

"Wow! Really!? That's so cool!"

You share her smile. "Thank you."

Phil spoke next, "Are you home schooled or something? I haven't seen you at school."

"Yes, I am. I live on a nice small farm, nothing too grand. Though I lived in the city first before coming here."

"A city girl, makes sense," he smirked. "you seem too high class for someone like Conner."

He and the others laugh, much to Conner's annoyance. You just smile and join in with them a bit, accidentally brush up against someone find yourself look out over nothing but desolation where the fair stood. Tattered tents, worn and broken carts and game stands. Rotten food...bugs...flies more like it eating something rotten, you weren't sure until the smell of ghastly smell of death filled your nose you nearly gagged. Clasping a hand over your mouth and nose turn away nearly scream at what was behind you that you accidentally stepped in...a gutted human or something...their insides spilled out decorating the ground. It was horrid and you shouldn't let this bother you...but...inside you screamed. The large claw marks on their mid section...something large and strong did this...it wasn't some sort of animal of any kind you knew. Trembling heavily slowly step back, turn and run.

Running, that's all you could do right now...run through this...horrid 'fun house', in the corner of your eyes you see nothing but death. Skeletons...skinned fleshed...ripped limbs...red in more places you never it could...this place was like a slaughter grounds and you didn't know why...except whatever slashed that person open did the same here. Headless corpse bitten off...some mauled, you weren't sure. All you knew was that you needed to get out of here...this shouldn't happen...none of this should be happening...you made sure of it...you did...the spell you cast...it was suppose to..

Home!

You needed to get home, to make sure everything was alright...everyone was alright! Pushing harder run away from the grounds down the road back home. You tried a producing your flamed wings but...you couldn't. Your heart dropped...you needed to reach the house...everyone needed to be alright...with the sky painted flaming crimson and thick dark polluted clouds...or was it smog..smoke? You weren't sure. Your legs where starting to tire, but you couldn't stop running...corpses peppered on the road you did your best jumping and stepping over them. Sometimes accidentally stepping in and on some. You almost tripped, catching yourself keep your pace. Your heart, you could feel it beating against your chest harder than you'd ever felt before. Fear washed over you like a wave, pushing you deeper and deeper...of what you might find. Try as you could to shake such a thought...did little to ease your feelings and thoughts.

Up in the distance you saw it...the house, a sweep of relief came over you, quickly went away when you arrived. You drop to your knees like a sack of potatoes, clasp your hands, now trembling, again over your mouth, open and ready to scream at the dreadful scene before you. Shut your eyes from the building pressing inside and...

"Vi! Violet!" Conner's voice instantly teleports you back to...reality, he was standing in front of you eyes locked deeply concerned with yours, it took you a moment to refocus. Blinking a few times find his eyes bluish-grey eyes and the eyes of his friends looking on.

Your head hurt for a moment, you do your best not to touch it, play it off with a small casual laugh. "Sorry, I was just day dreaming. You know how city people can be."

The others laughed, Conner was less humored. He was about to say something but you step away to the girls, take the middle and link your arms with theirs. Walk off. Began chatting away about whatever, they joined you. Conner stood back a sight pinched expression on his face, quickly went away when the guys slung their arms around his shoulders on either side. Forcing him in the middle, pull him to follow after you and the girls.

The fair was nice, the first thing after purchasing tickets to actually participate and do some things was going on a few rides. You and the girls picked the first three, one was a the Orbit spin a gravitron ride. Everyone got into a padded panel lined against the wall, leaning on it. After strapping it, and the door closed, spin around and around for at least a minute. You where next to the girls. The next one a top spin ride, you sat next too Phil and Mary. The third one a drop tower, you sat next to Phil and Hank. After the first round, came a break and some food.

You sat with the girls while the guys went to get the food.

"I can't believe you weren't scared," Minnie marveled laughing, trying to smooth out her tangled hair. "I screamed like a harpy. Those rides where beyond my limits." She continued laughing.

You laugh behind your hand, the rides didn't seem that intense to you, considered everything. But they where nice. "They weren't that bad," Mary laughed, taking out her mini mirror checking herself over, smiling to herself. "but they were fun. You did pick some good ones, I though we were going to start slow or something. You don't look like someone who'd be into something like that."

You chuckle nervously little, but keep the smile on. "Well, it's good to live. You never know what life will hold."

"Oh my gosh, that's so poetic," Minnie said amazed, giggling. "that's a good way at looking at it." She sighed a little with a distant look for a moment, "Never knowing when it might be your last, makes me want to ride even better rides now."

Mary finished looking herself over, tucked her mirror back into her bag, "Enough talk about this, about last days, we should preserve the time. I saw a photo booth we'll do it there before the night ends. Now, to much more pressing matters," she looked at you agog tinge in her eyes, it curled on her lips. "since the guys are still getting food, let's talk."

All ears you listen to what she wanted to talk about. Over with the guys, they waited for their orders, while Phil and Hank talked Conner zoned them out to observe you out the corner of his eyes. You seem fine, laughing and giggling with the girls, as they pointed to your white hair. Talking about whatever, it was good to see you smiling and he should be happy, but he just...couldn't really. The way you spaced out suddenly, he kept calling your name over and over again until he he took hold of your hands did you snap out. Then the way you didn't sit by him on the rides or remained linked with the girls. Of course his friends didn't see it, they just thought it was normal but he saw it...well. Something was going on, he could feel it...for the longest he could. There times he noticed this haunting dullness set in your eyes when you looked around or for a second had a moment to yourself. All the smiling in the world that you where doing wasn't enough to hide it...there where times even back home he noticed. You wouldn't say...but there times when the two of you sat in silence you wanted too...but every time you just barely parted your mouth open to say something...you'd close it right back up and talk about something else.

"Hey," Hank nudged Conner in the side a bit, getting his attention, "earth to Conner you there?"

Conner looks at the two, "Huh, yeah?"

The guys snicker a bit as though some sort of inside joke was said and Conner missed it. "Didn't you hear anything I said?" Phil said, nudging Conner on the side.

"No, I was...just thinking about something that's all," Conner answered, quickly looking at you. "What is it?"

Again, they said nothing keeping it to themselves, went to get their food when their numbers where called, walked back to you and the girls. "Your girl is rather fearless, I wasn't expecting her to pick those rides," Hank praised. "those where some of the rides I was thinking about doing. It's like she read my mind or something."

Phil chimes in, "Yeah, who would have thought? Right? Girl knows how to live, right? You totally should have brought her around more often."

"Yeah, guess...I umm should have," Conner agreed. "she's just been busy, that's all. You know with home schooling and stuff. So she rarely gets out, also she prefers staying on the farm."

"Really? You'd never guess. She's cute though, I'm sort of jealous." Hank snickered a little. "Don't know how you got lucky, must have been fate or something, right Phil?"

The two share a laugh, Conner did his best to join them, but he couldn't. Not with his mind on you. Reaching back with you and the girls, food was served. Conner took the spot next to you, he noticed how you slightly moved over. You were busy away chatting, taking all the attention which the others didn't mind. They where invested and interested in what you said. You throw out a few jokes here and there, stores ever now and then. His friends thought you where just being funny, but Conner knew most of them where from your escapades from the time before. He just sat quietly listening. Once everyone was done and needing time to let everything digest go for the games to try and win some prizes.

Hank tried his chance the Darts n Balloon wall, he failed. Phil tried at basketball, he managed to get one in. Watching him play the game reminded you of when you went to a carnival back when you were with the Teen Titans. Your heart hurt at the thought, but you smiled. Cheering for Hank during Whack a Mole. He lost to an eight year old. You and the girls tried at some games, Ring Toss, a Dunk Tank, and Skeethball. Something you shouldn't have, the moment the person placed the balls in your hand, you found yourself...again in the desolate world.

This time there fire...screaming and the tearing of flesh. The air filled of blood...death and...hopelessness. There where these large metal like laser drill towers sticking blasting into the ground...causing the earth to shake violently...you weren't sure why...but whatever the reason it killing the earth. Killing everything...no matter where you looked...death was present everywhere and these...large metal winged creatures in the sky in armor that...seem familiar to Cyber Superman, ran your blood cold. This world...what was this world...why...did you keep seeing this...just...

Grabbing your head from the throbbing headache, feel you your hunger suddenly arise...the voices...the voices you had managed to quiet scream all at once like banshees, your mind felt as though it was going to split. The pain was more than you could bare...thick tears rose in your eyes poured out like a waterfall. You couldn't stop the pain or the tears no matter how hard you tried...your nails burrow into your mind...blood trickled down trailing the shape of your face dropping onto the ground...staining it red.

No! You try screaming in your mind, hear nothing but the other voices, scream again and...

The skeeballs you where holding suddenly drop out your hands, trembling, slowly you back up and quickly excuse yourself, leave. You needed to breath and...and...you couldn't think...your mind was spinning...switching from what you saw to present. Trying to grasp it...was more than you could bare...you couldn't keep focus on the simplest thing...walking here and there...trying to avoid people but they accidentally brushed up against you...you nearly screamed with each thing you saw. You needed to get away...you needed to...stumbling a bit manage for a moment find yourself in the present see a place of privacy could be and hurry there. Enter quickly and sit. Drawing the curtain, grab your head, tuck it down...let the tears fall.

Deep breaths...deep breaths love, you hear John's comforting voice, Deep breaths..

How you wished he was here right now...or Raven...anyone...you weren't sure how much you could take of this...it was just...just...

A hand draws back the curtain and a figure steps in. The same hand reaches out to, grabs one of yours gently, pulling it off your head. Pulls you towards them, wraps theirs their arms strongly around you, letting you cry you in their chest. While kissing you consoling on the head keeping their lips there.

"Come on, let's go home," Conner said the lower half of his face covered in your hair, held you tighter, "okay?"

You nod, agreeing.

It was quiet, on the fly back home and when you arrived, Ma and Pa where out. Conner said nothing he helped you to your room and laid you in bed. He stepped out for a moment, went to make some tea and came back with two cups, finding you sitting up curled in the corner of your bed. Holding a pillow staring out the window, eyes puffy and full of dread.

"Here," he hands you a cup, taking a seat next to you on the bed.

You take the cup and set it on the window ledge, you weren't in the mood for tea. But the scent was calming enough. Conner set his down for a moment and waited. You remained facing away from him, allowing the crisp cool and yet chilling air to sooth you. Tears slowly began welling in your eyes, but didn't fall. Still, you wiped them away, searching for the right words to say or what to say.

"I'm sorry," you say quietly, pause for a moment to find the right words, "I...should've have said...I..."This was more a struggle than you thought, the more you tried to search for the right thing to say, the more tears came. But you pushed, trying and trying...stop. Inhale as though holding your breath, release.

Words. You had no words to say. That came. Conner knew, so he asked, "What's going on?"

He saw your shoulders tense for a minute, fall, and head lower down. Tears cascaded out, they began soaking up a small area on the bed. Reaching an arm over, Conner pulls you into him. Holding you to his chest, letting your tears soak up your tears until you stopped. After a good ten minute cry, you remained resting in his chest. Your arms around tightly around him, the sound of his heart beat soothing you. Closing your eyes for a moment inhale his scent...shed a small tear.

"...Conner..."your voice soften a bit despite the hoarseness from crying was filled fear, call to him, "...I can't...I don't want to...to lose anyone else...I...I can't...I...I..."The tears rose again, your hold tightens. His does too. "...I-I...I just...can't...I'm s-scared. I-I'm...I...I..."

He stopped you, moving into his lap. Pressed his forehead softly, yet firmly on yours. Locking eyes strongly with your teary ones. Watching tears fall out, it wasn't a sight he didn't want to see...he'd seen you cry before...but not like this...this was...different, he could feel it. This shadowing mourning...weighing them down...sullen do deep he could barely see, you, his girlfriend. This was a whole other person he wasn't familiar with, despite that he looked deeper and found you. Lifting hand places it like a feather on the side of your face, with his thumb begins wiping away the tears or catching them. Suddenly, felt something overwhelm him that just shut everything and world around him out...like that time back in Lex's penthouse with you, before going off to fight those cyber soldiers. Ten times more, now. Letting it take over, he wanted you to stop crying even as you told him...fix it or do something to ease whatever it was that was haunting you. It pained him inside, all the strength he had...he'd vow to take out whatever it was...just so...

"...Oh...Oh babe," he softly said, sharing what you felt, it showed on his face. He brings into a secure hug, for a moment, "you won't. I promise you won't."

His words, he made them as comforting as he could, the overwhelming feeling came again...it was like some sort fire heating up inside. Adjusting himself and bring you up, again locks eyes this time with a gaze deeper and longer, for a second took the time to trail ever part of your face. Etching in his mind, than he had ever done before, leans in...slowly. Tilting his head, closing the limited space measuring his lips to your level...firmly yet softly places them on yours. You almost freeze for a moment, melt into...there was something about this...kiss...even if it didn't feel like the right moment...did, melt into it. Deepening it, with him as he did with you. Going further than before a simple peck...lasting longer.

The whole world...just stopped...stopped spinning.

End.

Now, time for last DCAU movie chapters.
