Chp. 7: Flame On
June 17, 2020
A few days have passed as Watson was sitting on a bench within the city. He had been trying to get across to the fire escape for the past three days under Lucas' supervision, but failed every time. He gave out a sigh, wondering if he ever was going to get that jump across. A shadow loomed over Watson. He looked up and saw Yara looking down at him.
"Yara?" Watson asked.
"Hey, Watson. I heard what happened a few days ago," Yara said. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," Watson answered.
Yara sits herself down next to Watson.
"Seriously, can't Augusto just take a fucking hint? I don't like him! Now more then ever after he tried to murder you!" Yara said.
"Yeah," Watson replied.
"You don't talk much, do you?" Yara asked.
"Sorry, I don't talk to others well. Except for Lucas," Watson said.
"Yeah. You seem to be the social outcast back at school," Yara said.
"Yeah. Not exactly one of those popular kids," Watson said.
"You seem to be a nice guy. I don't get why people don't want to hang out with you," Yara said.
"Guess they don't hang out with people who are dull and greeky," Watson said.
"You definitely weren't dull after you saved me from that Grimm creature," Yara said.
"You... really think so?" Watson asked.
Before Yara could answer, a car suddenly drives up to Watson and Yara. Two men exited the car and rushed over to the two. One of the men grabs Yara.
"Hey! What are you doing?!" Yara asked.
"Get in the car, bitch!" the man restraining Yara shouted.
"Leave us alo-" Watson stopped mid-sentence as the second man pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.
The second man fired a shot into Watson's chest, knocking him flat on the ground. Yara screams in horror but gets muffled out by the first man by gagging her mouth with a strip of duct tape.
"Get her in the car!" the second man said.
The first man complies and pushes Yara into the back of the car as the first man walks over to the driver's seat. Watson opens his eyes and sees Yara in the back seat of the car as the two men were about to take off with her.
"Yara!" Watson said.
He rolls himself underneath the car and grabs on to the gears of the car. He lifts himself up over the pavement and the car begins to move. The car drove faster as Watson did his best to hold on to the car and stay above the road.
Unknown Apartment Building
Several minutes later, the car slows to a stop and the engine then stops. Watson slowly drops himself to the pavement, soar from hold on to the car. The two men exit the car and then pull Yara out from the back seat. Watson scooted himself close to the opening and saw as the two men pulled Yara into a worn down fourteen story apartment complex. As soon as they went inside the building and the door closed, Watson crawled out from underneath the car and stood himself up. He walks up to the door and tries to open it, but couldn't get it to open.
"Locked," Watson muttered.
He steps back and looks up at the building.
"I'll have to find another way in," he said to himself.
He looks around for a moment and then finds an alleyway. He walked towards the alleyway and looked around for a moment and noticed a ladder on the next building leading up the roof. Watson turned his head to the readers.
"Now that's convenient," he said.
Watson walks over to the ladder and begins to climb the ladder. He soon reaches up to the rooftop and looks back at the apartment building. He looks at the windows and soon, through one of the windows, he sees Yara tied to a table and the two men looking down at her. She tries to struggle to get herself lost, but one of the men slaps her across the face.
Seeing this act angered Watson. He took a few steps back and as he did, his hair began to emitted blue flames He then sprinted off of the rooftop and across to the window sill to where Yara was being held captive. He managed to grab hold of the window sill and then lifted his legs back and flipped himself straight into the window, crashing through it. The two men and Yara look towards the now broken window to find a blue flaming haired and angry Watson standing in front of it.
"What the f-" the first man gets cut off as Watson rushed over and threw a punch to his face, knocking him to the ground.
The second man pulled out his gun and tried shooting at Watson, but Watson pushed the gun away from him. He kicks him in the chest, sending the second man crashing through a wall and knocking his head into a radio sitting on a counter. The radio turned on and began playing La Donna E' Mobile by Peter Dvorsky.
Watson breathed heavily then looked at himself at a nearby mirror and saw the blue fire on his head. As he did, the flames on Watson's hair slowly died out . He lightly brushed his fingers over his hair but then stopped as he remembered why he was here. He turns over to Yara who was still tied down on the table. She stared at Watson with wide eyes, stunned by what she saw. Watson unties her and she tears the duct tape off her mouth.
"What was all that?! How the fuck are you alive?! Why was your hair on fire?!" Yara asked.
"I'll explain later. Right now I need to get you out of here," Watson said.
Yara looked behind Watson and saw the first man with a metal bat preparing to hit Watson.
"Watson, behind you!" she shouted.
Watson turns around as the first man whacks him in the stomach with the bat, then swings it in Watson's face, knocking him to the floor. Yara ran back away from the two and hid behind a counter in the kitchen. The man swung his bat down at Watson's head, but he rolled away from the attack. Watson then kicks the first man in the shin, making him fall to the ground. As Watson stood up from the floor, the second man got himself back up on his feet and shot Watson in the back, knocking him back to the floor.
Watson grabs the bat and hurls it into the second man's face, knocking him into a wooden chair. Just as Watson gets back up again, the first man gets back up as well and grabs him from behind. Watson elbows the man in the stomach then turns himself around and pushes the first man into a coat rack. The second man rushed at Watson with the chair, preparing to hit him with it. Watson grabs the chair as the second man swung it down at him.
"Watson!" Yara screamed.
Watson and the second man turns to see Yara being restrained by the first man while holding a knife to her neck.
"Stay back! Stay the fuck back! I'll cut this bitch's throat!" the first man yelled.
Watson and the second man turned back at each other as the second man gave out a chuckle. Watson grew infuriated and as he did, his hair lit on fire again, making the second man look nervous. Watson rips the chair in half, terrifying the second man. Watson punches the second man in the chest, sending him flying through a few walls.
Watson turns his head at the first man still holding Yara with his knife at her neck, now terrified.
"St... Stay back! I-I-I'll do it!" The man shouted.
Watson hurled one of the broken pieces of the chair at the first man's head, knocking him away and letting Yara out of his grasp. Yara ran behind Watson as he then charged at the first man and threw a punch to his face. The man stumbled back in terror as then trips out of the broken window that Watson had broken through, and screamed as he fell to the ground below. Watson's fury demeanor turns into shock as the blue fire in his hair instantly dies out. He ran to the window and looked down to the man now dead on the pavement. Yara ran over to look and saw the now deceased man. Watson took a few steps back as Yara looked back at him.
"Watson? Are... are you okay?" Yara was hesitant to ask.
"I killed him. I fucking killed him," Watson said.
Yara walks over to Watson.
"You did what you had to do," she said.
Watson looked down at his hands for a moment before looking back up at Yara.
"Let's just call the police and explain to them about what happened," Yara said.
Watson stared at Yara for a moment before replying with a nod. They both walked out of the room and then proceeded down the hall.
"Yara... could you... not tell them about how... I was uhhh..." Watson tried asking then gestured his fingers over his head.
"Only if you tell me what was going on with the hot hair and how you survived," Yara answered.
"Thanks," Watson said.
