Chp. 16: Rescue

Drug Trafficking Hotel

Outside the drug trafficking hotel, Watson stares out at the building. After a few moments, he walks up to the entrance. Watson knocks on the door, and a moment later, the door cracks open and a face pokes out from the crack of the door with a small chain lock above his forehead. The man behind the door looks down at Watson for a moment before the door closes for another moment as Watson hears the sound of the chain rattle. The door then opens all the way with an armed man holding it open.

"The boss has been expecting you," the gunner said.

Watson steps inside as the gunner then closes the door.

"Follow me," the gunner ordered.

The gunner walks through the drug lab as Watson follows behind him. As Watson walked, he looked around and saw several people working at the tables around him, creating and producing drugs. He follows the gunner up the stairwell and up to the fourth floor. Watson continues to follow the gunner down the hallway as the gunner stops at a door. He knocked on the door and from the door came a response.

"Come in."

The gunner opens the door and gestures to Watson to step inside. Watson steps inside and sees Manuel sitting on one side of the sofa.

"I've been expecting you. Sit down. Take a seat," Manuel said, gesturing to the other end of the sofa.

Watson walked over to the sofa and sat down.

"I have heard so much about you. From both my men and my little bastard of a son," Manuel said.

"You're son?" Watson asked.

"Augusto Silva," Manuel answered.

"He's your son?" Watson asked, looking surprised.

"He is. Until you had him thrown into the slammer," Manuel answered.

"Your son tried to kill me and tried to kidnap Yara. He had to be stopped," Watson said.

"But aside from locking Augusto up, you also released my men's stress toys, sabotaged my dealings, and sabotaged my robberies. You play hero like a pro, but you've caused me enough trouble," Manuel said.

"And you do realize that I could easily rip your goddamn head off, right?" Watson asked.

"I'm sure you could. But there are two problems on why that would be a bad idea to try," Manuel said.

He stood up from the sofa and walked over to a large cardboard box sitting open on the floor upside down. Manuel lifts the box up to reveal Yara and Lucas both tied up and their mouths gagged with duct tape as they try to struggle to get loose.

"Problem number one," Manuel said, gesturing to Yara and Lucas.

"Guys!" Watson said in worry.

He was about to approach his friends, but Manuel steps in front of him as he pulls out a Smith and Wesson CSX pistol.

"Problem number two," Manuel said as he flipped the gun and held it by its barrel.

He presents it to Watson, gesturing to him to take it. Confused, Watson takes the gun from Manuel as the drug lord kingpin takes a few steps back.

"Shoot me," Manuel said.

Watson was caught off guard by his demand. Manuel gestures to Watson to do it with a smirk on his face. A moment later, Watson points the gun at Manuel and pulls the trigger. The bullet struck Manuel in the chest as he staggered a couple steps back. He regains his balance and begins to chuckle. Watson grew stunned as well as Lucas and Yara, thinking Manuel should be dead.

"I've got aura too," Manuel said.

Watson tries shooting at Manuel again, but the gun clicks.

"I loaded a single round in that gun, you idiot," Manuel said.

Watson was about to rush at Manuel, but the drug lord kingpin pulls out a second Smith and Wesson CSX pistol and aims it at Lucas and Yara.

"Unless you want your friends here to have bullets in their heads, you better back off," Manuel said.

"What do you want?" Watson asked.

While aiming the gun at Lucas and Yara, Manuel walks over to a table with objects on it that was all covered by a tarp. He removes the tarp revealing some lab equipment and test tubes of many kinds. He grabs the vial of Earth Dust which is now a quarter full.

"Is that-" Watson gets cut off.

"Yes, kid. This is Dust. One of my guys took this from your teacher while he was teaching you about being a Huntsman. It was completely full last time," Manuel explained.

"Where's the rest of it?" Watson asked.

Manuel sets down the vile and grabs a large syringe filled with a dark orange liquid.

"I wanted to experiment with this Dust and decided to mix it in with some steroids and some crack. I haven't tested yet, but I think now would be a good time to do so," Manuel explained.

"Where are you going with this?" Watson asked.

"I want you to watch me put this new drug to the test. And I have the perfect guinea pig," Manuel answered. He turns his attention to a fear shaken Yara as he walks over to her.

"Wait! Stop!" Watson shouted.

He rushes at Manuel, but Manuel elbows him in the face, knocking him to the floor. Manuel grabs onto Yara's arm and prepares to stick the needle in her. As this was going on, a crow was flying its way towards the window.

"You've been a pain in my ass for a while now, Watson. And I'm going to make sure you suffer for this," Manuel said.

Just before Manuel could jab the needle into Yara's arm, the crow transforms into Qrow and crashes through the window, and kicks Manuel in the face. Manuel stumbles backwards with the syringe in his hand, drops the gun in his hand, and falls and crashes into the lab-filled table, knocking him unconscious. Watson ran up to Lucas and Yara and pulled out one of his karambit knives. He cuts the rope restraining them, letting them loose as they tear the duct tape off of their mouths.

As Watson drew away his knife, Yara hugged on to Watson as she sobbed uncontrollably as Watson tried to comfort the frightened girl.

"It's alright. You're safe," Watson said.

"We're not out of this yet, kid. It's going to be a little while until the police arrive. Until then, we're on our own," Qrow said.

"So what do we do?" Lucas asked.

Watson looks down and sees the other pistol that Manuel had held on the floor. He picks it up and looks around for a moment and sees a few clips and a few small boxes of ammunition on the dresser. Qrow noticed what Watson was seeing and smirked.

"I think now is a good time for Watson to finally start his firearm practice," Qrow answered.

A few minutes passed and out in the hall a couple of guards were about to walk past the door. Suddenly Qrow kicked the door open and slashed at the first guard. Just as the second guard was about to shoot at the veteran Huntsman, Watson steps out of the doorway with two Smith and Wesson CSX pistols in his hands and shoots at the second guard, killing him. Lucas and Yara stepped out of the doorway.

"Let's go! And stay close! There's gonna be more coming" Qrow said.

The four began to run down the hall. Two guards stepped out from one of the upcoming doors and three more stepped out of another. Qrow draws his sword, runs up and slashes at one of the guards and kicks a second one. The three remaining guards began to open fire, but Qrow twirled Harbinger, deflecting away the shots. Watson jumps over Qrow and as he did, fires two shots at two of the guards. As soon as he landed, he rolled up to the last guard and shot the guard in the face with both of his guns.

Qrow, Watson, Yara, and Lucas ran to the stairwell and just as they began to go down the stairs, Qrow noticed five more guards running up the stairs after the group. Qrow hops over the railing and swung down to the next floor. He slashed at two of the guards and punched the third over the railing as he fell to the bottom floor. Qrow kicks the fourth guard down the stairs, then grabs the last guard by his head as he then twists his neck, killing him. As Watson, Lucas, and Yara catch up to the veteran Huntsman, the door next to them opens and a guard steps out. Watson quickly fires a couple shots into the guard's chest before they continue to go down the stairs.

As soon as they made it to the first floor Qrow peered his head around the corner and saw a large number of gunmen. They all saw Qrow and began to open fire as he pulled his head back. He turns his attention to the kids.

"You guys find another way out! I'll take care of these knuckleheads!" Qrow said.

Without hesitation, Watson, Lucas, and Yara ran up the stairs to the second floor. They ran down the hall and reached to the end where they saw an open window. Watson looked out the window and saw a closed dumpster down below. Several feet from the side of the dumpster were two gunners watching the door with their guns ready. Watson turns to Yara and Lucas.

"Wait here for a moment," Watson said.

He jumps out the window and lands on the dumpster with a loud thud, catching the guard's attention. As the two gunners begin shooting at Watson, he jumps down and ducks behind a dumpster, covering his ears. A moment later the two guards stopped firing and slowly approached the dumpster. Suddenly, Watson jumps into the air with his karambit knives drawn and lands on one of the guards, stabbing him in the chest. He quickly turns to the second guard and slashes at his throat. Watson looks up at the window to see Yara and Lucas watching down at him.

"All clear!" Watson said.

"Okay, Yara. You go first," Lucas said.

"I'm not sure about this," Yara said.

"Don't worry! I'll catch you!" Watson said.

Yara looked down at Watson as he climbed up on top of the dumpster and raised his arms out to catch her. Yara stuck her legs out the window and then slid out all the way out the window. Watson catches Yara in his arms and then sets her on her feet. Yara kissed Watson on the cheek before jumping off of the dumpster. Lucas slid out of the window as Watson caught him in his arms and then set him on his feet too. The two boys jump off of the dumpster.

"Now let's get out of here," Lucas said.

Watson, Yara, and Lucas then began to run down the alleyway, hoping to get out of any more danger.

Meanwhile up in Manuel's room, the man himself began to wake up and began to get back up on his feet. He looked down at his arm and saw the needle jabbed into his arm and the contents in the syringe were empty.

"Shit," he said as he pulled out the needle. "Right to the bone."

Suddenly, Manuel started to feel pain throughout his entire body as he lets out a pained yell. His blood vessels started to pop out and and turn orange. He stumbled to the window and noticed Watson, Yara, and Lucas running down the alleyway. His eye then began to glow orange as he furiously glares down at the kids.
