Chp. 17: Watson vs. Monster

City Streets

Within the city, Watson, Yara, and Lucas were running down the sidewalk. They soon stopped running and were panting in exhaustion.

"We should be safe now," Watson said.

"Thanks for the rescue there, Watson," Lucas said.

"Seriously, thanks," Yara said.

"I'm just glad you guys are safe now," Watson said.

Suddenly, they heard the sound of an explosion close by followed by the sounds of people screaming. The three peered their heads from out of the corner and saw a terrifying sight. They saw people running and screaming in terror as their were fires and explosions in the distance. Within the carnage, a figure threw a car straight into a shop, creating an explosion.

The figure stepped forward, revealing himself to be Manuel, who has his vest torn off duel to all the earth and rock protruding from his chest and back, and had sharp, pointed rocks protruding from his elbows. His pants were torn from the rocks protruding from his knees. His blood veins were glowing dark orange as well as his eyes.

"What... the... fuck... is... that... thing?!" Lucas asked in terror.

Two police cruisers then drove up and parked up several feet in front of Manuel. Four police officers quickly stepped out and pointed their guns at Manuel.

"Drop on your knees and put your hands behind your head!" one of the officers yelled.

Manuel charged at one of the officers as they began shooting at him. He grab the first officer by his collar and tossed him into a second officer, sending them flying into a wall. Manuel stepped up to a third officer and punched him to the ground. He then grabs the last officer by his head and twisting his head, breaking his neck, and killing him. Manuel then tosses the corpses into a nearby fire.

"My God," Yara muttered.

"Where's Qrow when you need him?" Watson asked.

"Probably still dealing with Augusto's father's men," Lucas answered.

"What do we do now?" Yara asked.

Watson looked out at the carnage in front of him for a moment before he finally spoke.

"Get yourselves out of here. I'm the only one currently available who can stop this."

"Are you crazy?!" Lucas asked.

"What you'll be doing is suicide," Yara said.

"Well, someone's got to try and I'm the only one who's able to go up against him," Watson asked.

Watson was about to step out into the open, but Yara grabbed on to his arm.

"Watson, wait!" she said.

Watson pulls Yara in close by her waist and plants a long kiss onto her lips. Yara gently pulls her in and returns the kiss Watson then pulls away, ending the kiss, and stares into Yara's eyes and places his hand on her cheek.

"Get somewhere safe. I love you, Yara," Watson said.

Watson turned around and ran out into the open as a few screaming people ran past him.

"SILVA!" Watson yelled.

Manuel turned to see Watson with a snarl.

"Watson," he growled.

Watson draws out his karambit knives, twirling them in his fingers before walking slowly towards Manuel. The man-now-monster walks over towards Watson. Soon, the two then began to run toward each other. When the two collided, Manuel threw an uppercut at Watson before hurling another punch that sent him flying into a car. Watson picked himself up and saw that Manuel was rushing towards him. He rolled to the side at the last second, avoiding another attack from Manuel. Watson slashed the back of Manuel's leg and then slashing his back.

Manuel swung his fist back at Watson, knocking him to the ground. He then picks up Watson by his head before slamming him into a nearby lamp post, and then throws him into a police cruiser. Watson quickly gets up, puts away his knives, and draws out his pistols as Manuel charges towards him. He jumps away at the last second avoiding another one of Manuel's attacks and begins to open fire. The shots didn't phase Manuel, as he swiped his hand at Watson, sending him flying into another car.

From out of the corner, Yara and Lucas could only watch as their friend was getting pummeled.

"We got to do something! Watson's getting hammered out there!" Yara said.

"Well, what can we do?!" Lucas asked.

Yara looked around for a moment and then spotted a running gasoline was leaking fuel. Yara sprints straight towards the gasoline truck.

"Yara! What are you doing?!" Lucas asked.

Yara stepped inside the gas truck and looked into the rear view mirror to see Manuel approaching Watson as he was trying to get up from the damaged car. Yara quickly sets the truck in reverse and backs it straight towards Manuel. Just as Manuel was about to slam his fists down on Watson, Yara drove and slams the gas truck into Manuel and crushes him into a wall. Watson gets up and off of the car and walks toward Yara as she steps out of the truck.

"Yara, I thought I told you to-" Watson gets cut off.

"Get away from the truck!" Yara shouted.

"What?" Watson asked.

"Just get away from the gas truck!" Yara yelled as she tugged on to Watson's arm.

The two ran to the corner of the building where Lucas was still watching. They hid behind the corner.

"Shoot the truck! Shoot the truck!" Yara shouted.

Watson stepped out from the corner and pulled out his pistols. He shoots at the truck, causing the gasoline truck to explode. Watson steps back into the corner to avoid oncoming debris. When it all settled, Watson, Yara, and Lucas peered out from the corner to see what was left from the explosion. They saw the gasoline truck heavily scorched and up in flames with most of the tank completely gone. Patches of fire, big and small were all over the pavement around what remains of the gas truck.

Watson and Yara stepped out into the open to get a better look, while Lucas seemed hesitant to make any action. Watson and Yara walked further and further away from the corner. They suddenly notice a figure slowly walking out from the flames. They then realized that Manuel was still alive as he glared at Watson and Yara in fury He spits out a tooth along with some blood.

"Is that all you've got?!" Manuel taunted.

Watson points his pistols at Manuel as Yara hides behind him. Manuel charges at the two teens as Watson begins shooting at him. Manuel tackles Watson and slams him against a wall as Yara jumps aside to the ground, avoiding Manuel's attack. Manuel pins Watson against the wall by holding his arm against Watson's neck, lifting him off the ground. Lucas races out from the corner and runs towards Yara. He pulled Yara up from the ground and the two both noticed Watson's pistols on the ground a few feet behind Manuel.

Growing more desperate, Watson throws a couple punches at Manuel's face, then follows with a kick to his stomach. Manuel punches Watson in the side of the head, then slams him to the ground. Watson tries to get up, but Manuel slams his foot on his chest, pinning him to the ground and causing his aura to flicker.

"After I'm through with you, your friends are next! And maybe before I do, I'll have a little fun with the girl before I end her pathetic suffering," Manuel said.

Suddenly, Manuel was getting shot from behind. He turns around to see Yara and Lucas shooting at him with Watson's guns. Manuel walks towards Lucas and Yara with a growl, while they were stepping back in fear as they continued shooting at him. The guns suddenly clicked as Lucas and Yara quickly realized they were out of ammo. Manuel grabs Lucas and Yara by their necks and lifts them up off the ground, choking them both. Watson looked up and saw his friends in danger. He stood himself back up as his hair then lit up into a blue inferno.

Watson ran up and circled around Manuel to face him. He grabs onto Manuel's wrists as he was still choking Yara and Lucas. Watson's grip on Manuel's wrist began tightening, forcing the latter to let go of Lucas and Yara. Watson kicks Manuel in the chest, sending him flying and crashing into the wall creating a large crater in the wall. Watson charged at Manuel and gave out several heavy punches. Manuel slams down his fist at Watson, but rolled to the side at the last second, avoiding the attack.

Watson grabs Manuel by the throat and slams him to the ground, making his aura flicker. He hurled more punches to Manuel's face as he then desperately tries to shield his face with his arms. Watson punches the rocks off of Manuel's arms. He hurled another punch to Manuel's, causing his aura finally break. Manuel could only groan in pain and look up at a furious, blue flaming haired Watson.

"Please... No... more..." Manuel groaned.

"You're right. No more. No more drug deals. No more robberies. No more rapings. No more killing. No more you," Watson growled.

Watson placed his foot on Manuel's chest and then grabbed onto his head with both hands. With a hard and swift tug, Watson rips Manuel's head and spine off of his body. He then threw the severed head into the wall, splattering open upon impact. Yara gagged as Lucas turns away and vomits from the gruesome act. The flames in Watson's hair died out as his aura depletes. Yara walks up to Watson as he lets out an exhausted sigh, while Lucas tries to recover from his vomiting.

"Now it's over," Watson said.

Yara heard a cracking sound coming from above. She looked up and saw that the wall next to her and Watson was about ready to fall on top of them.

"Watson, look out!" Yara yelled.

She pushes Watson to the side as the wall starts to fall. The wall falls and crumbles on top of Yara. Watson looks up to see the pile of rubble that had just crushed and buried Yara.

"YARA! NOOOOOO!" he screamed.

Watson crawled over and began to dig and toss the ruble aside as Lucas dashed over to help. He knelt down next to Watson as he helped to dig out Yara. A moment later, the two boys dug out Yara who was covered in bruises and had several broken bones.

"Yara," Watson said in worry.

Yara opens her eyes and shifts them towards Watson.

"Watson..." Yara groaned.

"Just hang on, Yara. I'll go get some help," Lucas said.

Luca quickly stood up and started to run down the street to find help.

"Watson..." Yara spoke.

"I'm here, Yara," Watson said.

"Watson... I want you to... promise me... something... important..." Yara groaned.

"Anything," Watson replied.

"Alexander... never... stop... helping..." Yara breathed out as her eyes rolled back and closed.

Watson's eyes watered as he placed his fingers on Yara's neck to find her pulse, but unfortunately couldn't find one.

"Yara? Yara, please don't leave me!" Watson sobbed.

Watson lets out a mournful cry, knowing the girl he had loved was now gone.
