A/N: So, it took quite some time to actually get this one done, as I've decided to completely overhaul the first three chapters, as it has inconsistency in writing and felt different than the latest three chapters I did (obviously due to the fact that it is almost all the way a carbon copy of the same three chapters of the Cancelled Arc on my main). The original first three will be uploaded (again) once this fanfic is finished under an author code known as OSA-C (stands for Original Story Arc - Cancelled), for example the original Chapter 1 will be named 'Chapter 1 (OSA-C)' to distinguish with the new Chapter 1 in this fanfic. Anyways, if you would like to visit those rewritten chapters, feel free to do so! Otherwise, please enjoy Chapter 7.

P/s: I already have plans for a sequel to this story ;) will still be on this account to avoid confusion

Chapter Summary: Scrooge was forced to resign from his position, allowing the vultures to take control of the power vacuum he left. Dissatisfied with little information obtained from the press conference, a reporter from St. Canard News Network is set to uncover the truth behind his resignation. Realising that Violet and Dewey are in danger, Huey and Louie attempted to tell his great-uncle about it.

"Scrooge McDuck, the well-known adventure capitalist, trillionaire and the biggest advocate for Duckburg is resigning from his position as the CEO of McDuck Enterprises. We're here live for full coverage of the press conference."

From the backstage, Scrooge McDuck emerged.

"Greetings everyone." Scrooge began. "As I'm sure you've known, Cape Suzette has been in a political turmoil, and this affected the current state of our operations a lot. My incapability to stop the inevitable has pushed me to announce my resignation, as starting from today, I am no longer the CEO of McDuck Enterprises. The new CEO will be appointed by the Board of Directors."

Everyone gasped, knowing that the trillionaire's reason of resigning was not solely because he couldn't prevent the subsidiaries in Cape Suzette from collapsing.

"Mr. McDuck?" A reporter raised her hand up. "I'm Zan Owlson from The St. Canard News Network. What will happen to your Money Bin, as it is in technicality a part of McDuck Enterprises?"

Scrooge explained that the Money Bin would be repurposed with no intervention from him, however 40% of the money currently stored there will be transferred to another remote location. "Any more questions, Ms. Owlson?"

"I'm not sure if this is the sole reason of you resigning. Do you have complications with the Board of Directors when it comes to decision making? If so, did they pressure you to resign?"

"I'm sorry, Ms. Owlson, but these are the questions that I will not choose to answer as of now." Scrooge simply replied.

"Next question please."

oOo

Owlson was not satisfied with the result she had. Having returned to St. Canard, she needed to make her voice known to her boss.

"Can we not publish this news to our network?" Owlson politely asked. "I think something's going on with McDuck's decision to resign from his position, and not solely because of the failure he obviously could have managed in Cape Suzette."

The boss was silent for a moment. "I'll give you exactly one week to figure a story out. Gather all the public documents you could gather on financial records and their recorded meetings. If things are not here by that time, I'm cutting your salary this month by 60%."

"You got it, boss."

oOo

"No, Huey," Louie was still unable to digest the information, "that's... that's just impossible."

"Look, think about it, if that's true..."

"...then something must be extremely wrong about her recent actions!" Louie exclaimed.

"Exactly. I suspected that someone must have been taken control of her recently." Huey was starting to get worried.

"Hey, where's Dewey and Webby?"

Huey suddenly turned to Louie. "Don't you think... that they're also in danger as well?"

They immediately went up to check, but there were no sign of both of them. Hoping none of them were in trouble, Huey decided to call Violet.

"Sabrewing household." Her father picked up.

"Hi, is this Mr. Ty Sabrewing or Mr. Indy Sabrewing?" Huey asked.

"It's Ty. Anything you want to ask, Hubert?"

"Is Violet home? I just wanted to make sure."

"No," Ty replied, "she said she's with your brother and Webbigail. Did they not tell you about it?"

Huey froze. It took him quite a while to talk to Violet's father again. "Alright, thanks sir. Have a good day."

"You too, Hubert."

Huey turned back to his brother. "They're definitely in danger."

Louie was looking at his GPS tracker app. He then told Huey to look at the location.

"They just left the Library of Alexandria... but what happened?"

"Let me give him a call."

Dewey answered, but all they could heard was someone touching the phone. The call suddenly ended afterwards, with a puzzled Louie trying to figure out what happened. However, Huey was quick to recognise it for being more than just random touches.

"Louie! That's Morse code! So if I'm correct..."

He began drawing the dots and lines that follow, and it translated to 'Send help. We are captured in a van."

They quickly ran down and showed it to Scrooge, who was about to leave the manor.

"Uncle Scrooge, you have to see this-"

He immediately took the paper down from Huey and crumbled it. "You kids have to stay out of this."

"But Uncle Scrooge-"

"I SAID, STAY OUT OF IT!"

They knew there was no way that they could change his mind, and retreated from his way. Since resigning from his position, Scrooge had been worried sick, even to the point of damaging his room and smashed the dining table. A few moments later, Donald appeared.

"Hey, I heard."

Huey and Louie only nodded to confirm what Donald knew. "Listen," he continued, "you know your Uncle Scrooge. He just wanted what's best for the three of you, including Webby herself. Even Mrs. B is worried sick about the current situation, but we're not going to give up, right?"

They only nodded. "I'm not sure anymore, Uncle Donald," Louie replied, "it's like this whole mess is way bigger than us. Sure, we met Magica. Sure, we defeated her from ruining our family and freed Scrooge out of his Number One Dime. But what's the point when there's another fight we have to face with, and it already makes us feel like we're losing?"

"Have faith in yourself," Donald simply answered, "and have faith in us as well. Things may never be the same from here, but what's important is that right now, we have each other. It's my duty to keep it that way, after all."

"So," Donald continued, "are you lots ready to convince your uncle to help your investigation?"

Their jaws dropped. They never knew Donald was so passionate at doing this for so long.

"Man, he truly is the greatest adventurer of all time." Louie whispered.

oOo

Scrooge was no longer able to hide his impatience. Bradford had promised to send all of them back home with a condition that they met in Mount Vesuvius in a couple of days, but he felt like the vulture always had something on his sleeves. Why trust the vulture when he was never going to stop making the family suffer unwanted consequences?

He looked at the sky. A bright full moon, shining through the night. "I'm sorry, Della," Scrooge said, with devastation, "I couldn't keep even any of them saved. I shouldn't ever build that rocket..."

The door opened and Mrs. Beakley was there. Scrooge quickly covered his tears. "Any news?"

"Look-" Mrs. Beakley began.

"No, Beakley! I don't need anyone's pity right now! You think a ransom on me would make me someone so vulnerable to be cared about?" Scrooge angrily interrupted. "I even endangered someone's family just for this, and you expect me to be vulnerable? Do I look like I have vulnerability to you?"

"No," Beakley simply replied, "you're not. You're heartbroken. Everyone is. No one is expecting anyone to hide their emotions in order to bring them back. Even you, they are not expecting you to be so resilient that Webbigail is imprisoned. You're not alone, Scrooge."

"Beakley," Scrooge was now a bit more calm, "I have been a lone wolf for twenty years before. Not once did I want to mention the concept of family ever again, because I knew everyone else would think ill about me - you see, I can't even protect their mum for god's sake! But, somehow, this concept has returned to me, and somehow, it got worse than before. It's time for me to be a lone wolf again. I don't have a choice."

"Yes, you do."

Donald Duck suddenly appeared, with Huey and Louie followed suit. Scrooge was overwhelmed.

"Look, Uncle Scrooge," Donald continued, "we're a family. And if we're not going to stand up for it, who else? Certainly not a single individual could just do that and suddenly we're back together. No matter what happens, we're here with you."

Scrooge hugged all of them, as a way of showing his acceptance to the fact that he was no longer alone.

"Alright," Scrooge began, "I'm ready to listen what you two have to say."

oOo

"Alright, that should be it."

Owlson was proud of herself - the abnormalities in the financial records that McDuck Enterprises published could prove that the Board of Directors had been performing illegal payments without Scrooge McDuck's approval. The article was finally finished, and she decided she would get a cup of coffee before publishing it tomorrow.

Walking through the street, she saw a nearby coffee shop and decided to try something new.

"Hi, one cup of caramel coffee, please."

The staff did not respond.

"Is it sold out?" Owlson asked.

The staff did not respond either.

"Okay... this is awkward. I'll just head out then."

Just as she reached for the door, a gun was pointed on her head.

"You're not going to publish that article."
