Hello fellow RWBY fans one and all, welcome to my possibly little fan fiction. Now let's get one thing straight. I for one don't care about the shipping element in some shows, but that's not to say that I have a soft spot for some, and what do you know RWBY is one of them. Overall I still don't care who ends up with who,but lately I had this Whiteknight fever that I have to get off my chest. This story takes place right after the battle of Haven just for some contacts. Will here we go, my 10 IQ brain is ready to write.

Chapter one: "Can we start over?"

Relieve, that's the one emotion everyone was feeling right now, only an hour has passed since their battle at Haven Academy concluded, but what followed after is not quite what they expected.

"I can't believe this!" Yang said clearly annoyed with the situation that they are currently in.

"What's the part you can't believe? The fact that we are in handcuffs and sitting in a cell in the local police station, or the fact Cinder and co got away." Qrow said clearly, still in a sour mood. Their current situation was not at all ideal, but I did give them a bit of time to start thinking about their next move, that of course is assuming they don't end up in jail.

"Well things could certainly be worse." Ruby said, "I can't believe this either, this is absolutely the last place I would ever think I would be in." Weiss said, agreeing with Yang. "Hey calm down girls everything is fine, I'm sure Blake can get us out of here." Ruby countered

"We should take this time to think about our next course of action." Ren added and Jaune followed suit, "Ren's right, and Ruby brought up a good point. Blake came with the White Fang and helped stop that psycho from blowing Haven Academy sky high, I'm sure she can get us all out of here." The only member that wasn't joining them was Blake, since she arrived to initially stop Adam Blake was able to avoid being arrested, giving them some time to think with Oscor being the first to speak up.

"I think our next best move is to go to Atlas… at least that's what Ozpin just suggested." The farm boy quickly added. "Oh gods please tell me that's a joke." Weiss already did not like that suggestion. "With the relic out of the vault, it possesses a significant threat to us. Even if Salem doesn't have it, that's just one more relic out of its vault. Plus we can't necessarily put it back in the vault with the spring-" Oscor didn't even finish when he felt Yang's cold glare at him making him stop. "Right, my apologies… I think General Ironwood would be willing to help us."

"I don't know, I've been trying to get a hold of old Jimmy since we got to Haven, not a single response. Doesn't really scream a warm welcoming party." Qrow spoke up.

"As much as I hate the idea of going back to Atlas… my sister is still there. If we can talk to her she might be able to reason with Ironwood." Weiss said.

"Then it's settled… all in favor?" Ruby said as she raised her hand up soon followed by everyone else. "Looks like we got a plan… now we have to focus on our small problem." Qrow said, reminding everyone of their current situation.

Soon after they heard the door to the entrance open followed by multiple footsteps. Soon a man appeared in his police uniform, clearly in his mid forties, and decorated with metals on his left side wearing a pair of sunglasses , and was accompanied by two other officers. "Well… this is certainly not how I would imagine I spend my Saturday evening. An attack at Haven Academy, Head-Master Lio Lionheart dead, and now the White Fang lead by Adam Taurus, and at the heart of it all is all of you."

"Hey now listen here officer we didn't-" Qrow tried to reason with him but the man only lifted his hand making him stop. "Give us a moment now." He ordered the other two and followed his order. He took a step forward towards the cell and leaned in to look at Qrow. "Man, how long has it been Qrow?" He asked as he took off his sunglasses, and Qrow for the first time since being thrown in here breathed a sigh of relief. "Well I'll be darn Jayden is that you? You son of a bitch." Qrow said. "The one and only… you should have seen my face when I saw your name pop up on my computer. I ask how you are but, I think I can see for myself."

"Umm Uncle Qrow… who is this?" Ruby asked him.

"Oh kids, this is Jayden Burns. I ran a few huntsman missions with him a year or so after I did my time in Beacon, honestly it's good to see you again Jayden." Qrow finished, "Same here Qrow, now onto more present matters, and before you start I know. I know what happened to Leo, well I heard rumors but I never thought those were true." He said

"They are true, and we need to get to Atlas next, I have to inform Jimmy of this. So it would be a real big help if you could help us out." Qrow explained

"Atlas…hmm, I haven't heard the greatest of news from there. First Ironwood called back basically all of his forces back to base, for whatever reason well your guess is as good as mine. Secondly, Mantle has had the biggest problems from this sudden shift in Atlas, from what I heard at least. So considering those two things, you really think going to Atlas is the smartest choice? Plus that's not even taking into account how you will get there." Burns said

"I know, but I won't know unless we try, plus if not me then I know someone an… associate ." Qrow explained

"Oh shit this oughta be good, you have a very skewed meaning when you use that word, either said person doesn't like you for whatever reason, or because you have a complicated history working together." He said as he judged Qrow's reaction, "Guessing by your reaction I'm thinking it's more along the lines of the both." He sighed as he continued "It's not saying that I don't trust you Qrow believe me when I say that, we ran a few missions together and despite your…character, you get the job done. But there is one factor you forgot." He said

"Jimmy himself." Qrow answered

"Bingo! Out of the two of us you know Ironwood on a more personal level to a degree, but even I know he can be a little bit on the paranoid side of things. Take a look at the Vital Festival. What was meant to be a time of celebration, old Ironwood just had to bring along work with him." Burns said, "The man has good intentions. I won't argue that, but sometimes his methods are a bit questionable to my liking."

"I appreciate this information Burns, now about our current situation." Qrow said to him gesturing to the cell they were in.

"Whoa, slow your horses Qrow I'm getting there, I was just letting you know to be prepared that's all. Anyway I come bearing good news and a bit of bad news."

"What's the good news?" Ruby asked?

"Well I hate to keep a young lady waiting, despite the collateral damage… you be surprised that you're not in as much trouble as you thought you were. Since the Belladonna family said you were helping them, especially their daughter. Made it quite clear you helped in the operation, that's not to say there were a couple of strings pulled here and there but pretty much scott free. However comma this is where the bad news comes in." Burns said

"What, I thought we were scott free?" Qrow asked a bit annoyed

Again Burns gesturing to him to calm down, "Easy there Qrow it wasn't easy, but I can't have you guys just walk out of here like nothing ever happen, since as far as the local government is concerned your little group still acted out of order with the White Fang moment with the Belladonna's. So at the bare minimum I have to keep you here for at least eighteen hours." He finished explaining

"Not what I wanted to hear, but I believe it is better than I originally thought." Weiss said

"It certainly is, and after that you're free to go but, if you want my advice. I would suggest laying low for at least a week." Burns said

"We can't afford to waste anymore time here, we need to get-" Yang quickly caught herself "we need to get an important package to Atlas, and the quicker we do the better." She finished

Burns stared at the blonde for a minute before Qrow stepped in again. "It's rude to stare." He said

"Typically when people do that they have something to hide, begs the question why is this 'package' so important that you need to go to Atlas yourself. But I'm guessing she's with you, yes?" he said

"She is my niece, and yes it is important we go to Atlas."

"I known you long enough to question what mission you're on, so just this once I'll pretend I didn't hear that. Anyway back to my original point, the city is still in an uproar. It would make sense for things to die down a bit before you move out to Altas, which brings me to my follow-on question. How on remnant are you going to get to Altas?" he asked

"That… we are still figuring it out." Qrow answered honestly

"This is where I come in, I'll give you one guess. Which city has the largest military base outside Atlas?" he asked "It's an open door question so if you know it say."

Jaune was the one to speak up, "Argus." He answered

"Very impressive young man, furthermore Mistral has a train that will take straight to there. But right now travel outside Mistral has been temporarily disable for reasons you should know. So you see Qrow, that's my point I can help you get to Atlas, at least closer. I'll send a letter over the base but I can't guarantee what happens after that." He finished

Qrow could feel some of his worries fade, finally something going their way, "That would be a big help Burn, can't thank you enough."

"Don't worry about it, now if you would kindly follow me I'll take you to your temporary holding cells, and also my apologies I have to cuff you to make the people feel safe plus policy."

With that they followed Burn to their holding cells to spend the night, while it wasn't the best thing in the world it most certainly could have gone worse. "Here we are, sorry it's a bit small so two people per cell, I suggest you sleep it off to make time go by fast." Burns said

The group was then split into two's, Ren and Nora got one cell together much to Nora's approval, Yang and Qrow where the next pair followed by Oscor and Ruby right across from them and finally was Jaune and Weiss at the end of the hold cell room. Burns then stopped by Qrow's and Yang's cell, "I have to go now their still paperwork that needs to be finished involving this incident, I'll have some of my guys bring you some dinner, and if this is the last time I see you. Take care Qrow." He said as he held out a hand through the bars which Qrow accepted. "We can't thank you enough." Burns simply nodded in response as he left the room. "Well I'm going to get some shut eye." Qrow said and as he took the bottom bunk, "Wake me when dinner gets here."

The rest of the group settled in for the night, but at the corner of the room in the last cell, the atmosphere was a bit tense. Jaune Arc and Weiss Shnee, they never did have the greatest history, one was a bit too full of himself while the other was still seeing the world as they were entitled to everything. Now they are sitting only two feet away from each other in dead silence. Back at Beacon Jaune would have given anything to be in the same room as Weiss and be this close, but now he wasn't that same boy anymore. Weiss on the other hand was thinking about her current situation as well, here was the boy who couldn't take a hint after the constant rejection, was now a changed person, not to mention… after what happened during the battle of Haven. Without thinking Weiss moved a hand over the hole of her dress, she could still feel the pain almost like a ghost was piercing the very same spot where Cinder did, the burnt fabric at the edges were ashes, that were also stained with her blood as she held her hand in place of her hole. Jaune took notice of this and seeing her, he felt horrible just when he thought he could actually be an actual fighter, a warrior just like his ancestors. He was wrong, instead he almost got someone killed, he almost killed Weiss, Ruby's partener, his first crush. He covered his face with his hands putting his elbows on his knees before speaking, "I'm sorry." He whispered just enough for Weiss to hear.

"What?" She said as he turned towards him.

"I'm so sorry." Jaune squeaked out a bit louder for her to hear, "I… I'm so sorry Weiss." Jaune couldn't think of what else to say to her, I mean what else do you say to the person you almost killed. "I'm such an idiot… thinking...I… That I could fight her...and then you got hurt." He gasped between his tears as he continued to cry. "It should have been me… but I-" Jaune couldn't finish as he cried into his hands. Weiss looked at the knight next to her as he cried into his hands, she knew what he was doing he was blaming himself for what happened, but in reality it was also her fault as well. Trying to summon in the middle of battle when you're still new to it wasn't the smartest move on her part, she could have been better, she needed to get better. Still looking at him, she couldn't bear to see him like this as she slowly put her hand on his back and started to move it in small circles as she leaned her head on his right shoulder. "You shouldn't be so hard on yourself." She said "It's a battle, people get hurt there is no avoiding that… plus you saved me." Weiss said.

"Saved you? I saved you from a problem I originally started… if i would have just… just listen to Qrow then...then you wouldn't have-" As he abruptly stood up.

"You started, yes but… at that pace it was bound to happen, there was no avoiding that. Jaune I'm not blaming you for what happened back there. So you shouldn't either." Weiss said as she remained seated.

"You just don't get… Weiss I cheated… I cheated since the very beginning. I never went to a combat school before Beacon, but I guess you kind of already knew that. I mean" He chuckled a bit in between his words not the joking kind no, Weiss you feel his anger, his sadness, the feeling of being left behind. "How could you not notice it, I never once won a sparring match in class, I was a complete idiot when it came to Dust, heck I didn't even know what Aura was, not until-" Jaune stopped himself. "I don't deserve this." Jaune said

Weiss took a moment to herself, she could see Jaune was hurting himself being like this, she didn't know why but this type of Jaune was not him. Sure his endless attempts of asking her out got very annoying, but looking back and now, see how far he has come since he started. She needed to make Jaune see just that. "From what I see, you're not the same Jaune Arc when he first arrived in Beacon." She started as Jaune only stood their back towards her and head hanging but she continued. "You may have had a rough start, that part is without question, but seeing you know and how far you come, is impressive. But i think the biggest thing for you to consider Jaune is to ask yourself 'why?' Why did I become a huntsman? Whatever the reason is Jaune I just need you to remember that, I don't expect you to answer me, but just to ask yourself that question." Weiss said

So he did, Jaune stood there the question was playing over in his head, and he knew his answer but was it still true. Was his answer a lie, no it can't be it was his reason no other person can tell you otherwise why you chose to become a huntsman. Jaune said his answer to himself was still such a childish answer but it was true. He wants to be a hero, but not like the one in the stories at least not all of it. He wanted to protect the people, people that can't protect themself, to give them a glimmer of hope in the most challenging times. Because he believes he can make a difference, just like her. Jaune slowly turned towards Weiss with a few tears in his eyes.

"I-I want to save them… all of them… I wanted to help those who can't…I want to make a difference." He answered her

Weiss smiled a bit and stood up and walked up to him, "I don't think a cheater would have such selfless reasoning to become a huntsman. Jaune you've grown so much since you started out, I don't blame you for what happened back there Jaune. It's part of being a huntress and huntsman, so please stop blaming yourself." Weiss said

Jaune took a moment to collect his thoughts before speaking again. "I should have been smarter… than maybe-" Jaune didn't finish before Weiss interrupted him

"Should of, could of. All of this different possibility we all could have done differently Jaune, myself included." She said as she turned back to the bunks and sat down. "I'm still far too weak, I was the first who's Arua got broken, then I had the brilliant idea of trying to summon in the middle of a fight without much practice. I'm still not good enough." She said as she leaned back on the cold hard wall.

Jaune looked at the girl in white, all the things that she said about her being weak, and not good enough was just not true for the boy. "That's not true Weiss, you are the strongest and bravest person I know. You're smart and you have such a cool semblance. Plus you have this super cool scar that just screams 'don't mess with me' . It's just a few of the reasons that I always admired you." Jaune quickly realised what he said and covered his mouth. "Sorry."

Weiss smiled a bit, "No, it's okay. It's good to hear that… from someone else from time to time. I guess I compare myself to Winter a bit too much. It's just well, she's just so perfect even before I went to a combat school it was Winter who started to teach me the basics first. I only got to see my sister fight a few times in person but I seen all of her matches when she was a student at Atlas during the Vital Festival." she sighed, "I guess when you have someone like Winter in your family and can't help but try and live up to their standards."

Jaune walked over to her and took a seat next to her. "It may surprise you but, it's the same with me in a way. A bit of a more selfish reason why I became a huntsman was well, my dad is a huntsman, so was my granddad and his dad and so on. You come to my great great granddad who fought in the war and came out a hero. It is just unreal to think about someone like that who is related to you. The stories that I heard as a kid from my dad just sparked something inside of me, I wanted to be just like them. I wanted to live up to the Arc name and be that hero just like me dad." Jaune said as he sighed. "You're not the only one trying to live up to the family name. I know it's a selfish reason but I can't lie to myself and pretend it's not there because that's what drove me to go to Beacon in the first place." Jaune said

"Guess we are more I like than I originally thought. Being a bit selfish is completely normal, it's part of what makes us human. I would also be lying to myself if I said my reasoning for being a huntress wasn't at all selfish to begin with." Weiss said to him as she turned to him. "We really have changed these last fews months haven't we?" Weiss asked

"Ya, I honestly never noticed it but, like you said it's good to hear it from someone else." He said as he looked at her. Then he remembered something and he needed to address it, "Weiss there is something else I need to tell you." He said and she looked at him with a bit of a concerted face. "Before I do I just want you to know I don't expect you to expect my apology, in fact I don't want your forgiveness." Weiss only nodded, "I'm sorry for the way I acted and treated you back during our time at Beacon, I should have gotten the memo the second time around. I know I must have been really annoying, I should have respected your answer and for that I'm sorry." Jaune said

"I guess I should also say that I'm sorry too, I was still too wrapped up with the idea that I was entitled to everything." she chuckled a bit, "Ruby can definitely tell you more about that. Jaune it okay, you were just a teenage boy with a bit too much confidence and yes I'll agree you didn't know how to take a hint. But looking back it was a fun time during Beacon. Really made it stand out, and if it makes you feel better then fine I won't forgive you, only if you don't forgive me in return." She said

"I don't forgive you." he said with a small smile. They sat there for a while now in silence, while it was not the most traditional way of forgiving someone it just felt right to them, there really was no need for them to apologize to each other since each had reason for not but still what where they now. Jaune sat there for a bit then spoke up. "Hey Weiss."

"Yeah"

"Can we start over?" Jaune asked

"What do you mean?" Weiss answered

"Can we have a fresh start and all, you know since we never forgave each other how about a new start." Jaune asked her.

While Jaune couldn't see since her face was turned slightly away Weiss formed a smile on her face as she faced him. "The names Weiss Schnee, ex-heiress to the Schnee Dust Company and Huntress in training." She said as she held out her right hand.

Jaune took her hand, "Jaune Arc, only boy of eight and Huntsman in training." He said as they shook on it. "Hey Weiss when we get out of here, and you know if you want, do you think you can give me a few pointers on my fighting style?" He asked her.

For a split second was a bit worried that the old Jaune would resurface, but as she looked into his deep blue eyes she could see the determination to better himself, no this was not the old Jaune but a new one, and was ready for whatever battle comes his way. "I would be glad to assist you Jaune." She said

There they sat together with complete content with each other, Weiss even made a bold move and slowly lowered her head onto his right shoulder, after a long night and lots of emotion they were both exhausted. Feeling this was just a one time deal Jaune slowly lowered his head on her's, but he didn't think anything else of it, just the pure fact he got a second chance to be a friend to her, and for Jaune that was more than enough.

I think one of the factors RWBY missed is the consequences of one's actions especially in vol 5 where it started. While there are other examples of this in the earlier volumes and in later one specifically 8, they never once got punished in any form of way. Now that's probably the main cast shield coming and saving them, but I feel it would have really helped out the story as a whole. Which is why I started it off in a prison scene. RWBY has a good story but sadly it gets cribbled by its own writers, which is why I find RWBY so fascinating it had potential and honestly by changing a few things here and there even avoid ships over all just the decisions the character make and the way the deliver it really would of helped. But hey who am I to talk? I'm no professional writer heck I got a C minus in english and creative writing so ya. Overall I hoped you enjoyed it will be a slow update rate due to work, and possibly a slow burn but not too slow. And thank you for reading my Whiteknight Fanfic.

Also P.S I literally just came up with the character, guess adding more new characters to the cast is unavoidable in RWBY. Also teased another Ship that has my full support and can't wait for them to start interacting.
