I just want to say thank you for the few pointers to improve on my writing, and regarding the last chapter was a bit on a shorter size and so is this one since it tackles one of the forgotten plot points in RWBY. The equality between Faunus and the Humans, so it's time to get a bit political… yea. Hope you enjoy this chapter.
Chapter two: "I hate politics."
There's mainly two ways to make a change in the world. One of which is through a more violent path, rioting in the streets, forcefully demanding a change right then and there, to even committing murder. Yes, to a certain extent such a person or group can change the world through the violent path, but what does that solve in the end? Is that group really free, do they really have the same rights, or is it fear that they use to meet those demands. Demanding a change through the use of fear can get the message across, but now you give them just another reason to look at you differently, and there is a limit on how long people can live in constant fear before the fear of death no longer matters to one. Violence breeds violence and the old saying goes, and for one young huntress she was ashamed of herself, ashamed of her past and what she did.
Blake took part in the violent part during her time in the White Fang, she thought of all the missions she did with… him, but in the end what those missions accomplished was the question that she asked herself throughout those times, and for Blake it was the same answer.
Nothing
That was the truth and it hurt her everytime she thought about it. It was all for nothing, in the end The Faunus still had the same unfair laws throughout Remnant, still treated horribly in some parts. All those missions did was add just another reason to fear them. Blake thought back to when her parents first left the White Fang due to the increasing violent actions the organisation was taking. She called them cowards, but in reality she was the coward not them.
Blake was currently in a condo that her father owned that he uses for when he has to take a trip here near the Academy. It was early morning and now she was ready to make the first real step in changing the world, but truth be told it can be a bit of a bitch sometimes.
"Blake, sweetheart are you up?" Blake heard her father through the door of her bedroom.
"Yes dad. Just need to put on some clothes and I'll be right out." Blake answered.
"Well we have a good amount of time left before we have to go to the Mistral council, so just take your time. Oh and your mother has breakfast ready." Ghira told his daughter.
Blake didn't want to say it out loud but the fact is, the only way to truly change the laws regarding the treatment of The Faunus and Humans was through the law, which for Blake wasn't the biggest fan of it to say the least. Looking at it from a long term point of view Blake saw the potential this has over all, the only problem being is some people tend to have their heads too far up their asses to even start implementing change.
She took a deep breath as she got ready for the rest of the day, "Let's hope things go well."
On the flip side the rest of the crew was still in their holding cells, and at this point started to count the number of bricks to make the time go by faster.
"I spy with my little eyes something…gray." Nora said as she laid on the top bunk.
"Is it the same answer I told you the last nine times?" Yang said with a bit of an annoying tone
"What if I told you it's not…" Nora answered with a cheeky tone
"Nora… what else is there that's gray?" Ren asked from the bottom bunk.
"The ceiling!" Nora cried out as she received groans from the others.
"You know I got to admit Nora, it's quite impressive you still have this much enthusiasm left over." Jaune said as he leaned on the bars
"Please Jaune don't encourage her." Weiss responded from her bunk. "I just can't wait to get out of this cell. It's starting to get a bit humid here, and I'm pretty sure I slept weird cuz my back is pretty sore right now."
"Aww is the ice queen missing her comfy queen size bed back at home." Yang said with a more teasing tone this time around.
"For your information Yang no. No I do not miss it, as a matter of fact I'll take camping out in a sleeping bag over spending another minute on this metal thing they call a bed." Weiss said
"What!? The last time we tried to camp out, you didn't come with us." Ruby interjected
"Ruby that was five months ago, and plus we didn't even have a plan. You just put it in that binder which was mine thank you, and put 'go camping with team' on one of the outdoor activities." Weiss said
"Wait a minute Weiss, did you really read that binder?" Yang asked through the bars.
"What?... No I would never… I just saw it was a complete mess and took the time to organise it… better, and by no means did I read any of the activities you had planned." Weiss stated
"Do my ears deceive me… nice Weiss is taking over, she really did want to go camping." Ruby said with joy in her voice
"I told you guys, the ice queen is no more, she must have met someone to finally melt that cold heart of hers." Nora said
Nora's comment was met with a burst of laughter throughout the holding cells, it was like the atmosphere there just got a whole lot lighter. Weiss only groaned a bit in frustration with the teasing she was receiving from everyone, but if she was being honest with herself she really did miss this.
"Oh I got a good one Jaune should know this one very well." Yang said as her laughter died down a bit, "Remember when Jaune tried to serenade our local ice queen with a song."
"Oh please for the love of everything don't bring that up again." Jaune said as he could feel his face turn red as he too remembers every last detail of that moment.
"You know Jaune I have to ask, did you practice that or was it all on the spot?" Yang asked the boy
At this point it was Jaune turn to be on the receiving end of being teased, well I guess it could be worse. "It was on the spot." He answered
"No way, I find it hard to believe that." Ruby said
"Believe it Ruby, our fearless leader came up with that little probably ten minutes before trying to ask out the Ice Queen." Nora said
"You know the said 'Ice Queen' has a name, but I do feel obligated to tell you that is the most impressive Jaune I'll admit, honestly if you weren't so forward when we first met I might have said yes to your invitation." Weiss said but soon she realized what she said, and part of her just wanted to sink into the cold hard ground and just die right then and there. But lucky for her Yang came to her rescue.
"Ha, you hear that Vomit boy, key word being 'might'." she responded
"Thanks guys I feel so much better, I'm overwhelmed with joy." Jaune said in the most monotone voice he could muster. His comment got the whole room laughing once again.
"You guys are really close, it seems you all have been through a lot during your time at Beacon." Oscor spoke up. The farm boy really felt out of place for a bit, but considering he barely knew them let alone him, it didn't bother him too much.
"Ya, we all became really close during our time at Beacon." Ruby said
"Back then things were so much so much more simpler, all we had to worry about is not being late and when's the next test happening." Jaune added
"Definitely sounds like it, as for me well… you guys can probably guess, but life on a farm can get pretty boring sometimes. Then again there is always something to do everyday." Oscor said
"Farm life doesn't sound too bad honestly, one of my uncles has a small farm that my family and I visit probably every two years or so." Jaune said
"This adventure that I'm on… I definitely see this out of an action book that I read back home. I'm still having to convince myself that all of this is real and I'm really living in it." Oscor explained
"Well like I said Oscor, you don't have to do it alone. We are all here for you so don't be shy, you're part of the team from now on." Ruby said with a smile which made the poor farm boy turn a light shade of pink but thankfully she took no notice.
"Jeez… how can you guys be in such a good mood?" Qrow said with his morning voice as he hopped down from the top bunk and stretched out.
"Come on Uncle Qrow, try not to be a party pooper. We're trying to make the best of it so time goes quicker, and the sooner that happens the sooner we get out." Yang explained to her uncle
Qrow only rolled his eyes a bit in a bit of amusement, but he had to give the kids credit they were making the best of it. "Sure, is it almost breakfast cuz I could go for some eggs and bacon."
"OH and don't forget the pancakes! Right Ren? You think they could possibly let you out so you can make your famous pancakes." Nora asked
"No, I don't think it works like that Nora." Ren said
Soon the door opened and the guards came into the room with eight breakfast trays. They each got one, and before they left one guard stopped at Qrow's and Yang's cell. "Mr. Burns said to give this to you." The guard said as he handed Qrow his scroll. "Good day." He said as they walked out.
They all looked down at the trays and to put it into simple words, not top tier.
"Well… It's breakfast." Jaune said as he took the single hard boiled egg in his hand and looked over at what looked like a five year old juice box.
"I hardly even classified this as 'breakfast'." Weiss said as she picked up the burned piece of toast.
"So Uncle Qrow now that you got your scroll what are you going to do?" Ruby asked
"I'm going to start writing a letter to Ironwood to inform him of our current situation. If we're lucky once we get to Argus we can head straight to the Atlas military base and it's a one way ticket to Atlas." Qrow explained
"I'm just wondering, how is it that you of all people know Ironwood on such a personal level?" Weiss asked
"Well I wouldn't call it a personal level. We shared a common respect for Ozpin, and while we were at each other's throats for the first week that we met each other, ran a couple of missions together… and the rest is history. If not him then your sister." Qrow said
"My sister?" a shocked Weiss asked
Qrow chuckled a bit, "Probably will have better luck mail Ironwood first if I'm being honest. Winter and I… well the way she put it was 'strictly professional'." Qrow said as he chuckled to himself recounting a memory.
"Care to share what's so funny?" Yang asked him
"That's a story for another time, right now pass me my egg might as well eat something." He said as Yang passed him his single hard boiled egg only for it to slip in his hand and fall on the ground. "Just my luck."
"I hope Blake is having better luck than we are." Yang stated
"True me sis, there is no way she is not doing better than we are right now." Ruby said, but little did she know she was dead wrong.
While in some cases Blake was in a better location than being in jail, the courthouse didn't house didn't exactly have a welcoming environment. Blake was currently in the waiting room along with both her parents just waiting for the council to finish setting up the room and gathering all the information. To put it short Blake was a nervous wreck, this would be the first time she would join her father and mother in a political standpoint in helping improve the equality of The Faunus.
Ghira noticed his daughter was a bit tense, "Blake I know you think some politicians can be… difficult to talk to but you have to give them a little faith okay." Ghira said to his daughter.
Blake knew her father was in the right, but still she couldn't shake the fact that this was going to be a nightmare for her but now she could only hope things will go as smoothly as possible. "Hey dad, can I ask you something?" Blake said as she looked over to her father.
"Of course Blake, what is it?"
"How do you think this meeting is going to go?" She asked, and frankly it was an honest question, Blake has little to no experience when it comes to communicating with complete strangers, much less people in power. It took Blake a fair bit of time to even warm up to her teammates when they first were put on the team so naturally she had her worries.
Ghira took a moment to think he looked over to his wife on his left and then finally to his daughter. "I have never lied to you Blake and I would hate to start now, if I'm being honest we'll be lucky if the laws that I proposed a few months ago doesn't get pigeonholed. But that's the worst case scenario… the best well it looks like this might be the end of the road for the White Fang." Ghira took a deep breath, "I think I have only myself to blame for the actions of the organization, if I was more… out there then maybe things could have been a lot better for all of us." He finished, but Blake quickly responded
"No you have nothing to blame yourself over, you were in the right since the very beginning. If anyone deserves the blame is me, I was the one that did all those terrible things, not you." Blake said
Her mother spoke up, "And I thought we all agree that we are just grateful that my baby girl is back on the right path, it's bad for your health if you keep looking at the things you did in your past. Yes it will always be there, but what matters is how you deal with it. What actions can you do to set things right, you are already doing that by being right here with us." Kali reached over with a hand and gently caressed her face, "So stop worrying so much… we have enough of that emotion as it is. I heard the head council member recently retired, Councilmen Viktor Rayman." Kail informed them
"Oh dear… that actually might be a small problem." Ghira said
"How so?" Blake asked
"Well Blake you see… Councilmen Viktor was one of the few people that supported the movement for Faunus equality, and being Head Councilmen he had a bit more say when it came to putting laws in motion." Ghira explained
This was news Blake did not want to hear, it seemed the world just stacked the odds against her more than they already were, soon she started to breathe a bit more heavier. Ghira took notice of this and brought an arm around her daughter, but before he could say anything the doors to the main conference room opened up and a woman came forward.
"Mr and Mrs. Belladonna, they are ready for you, and is she going to accupuny you two as well?" She asked gesturing to Blake.
"Yes, she's my daughter. I hope that's not a problem." Ghira replied
"Of course not right this way please." She said as they followed her to the main courtroom. It was your standard courtroom, and at the front there were four people dressed in black ropes. Blake took a single step towards them and already she could feel the pressure pressing against her, as if the room just got heavier and the gravity wanted to keep her from moving. From left to right the first councilman was a woman probably around her late forties, she had round glasses and has dirty blonde hair and had a few rinkes on her face. The next was a man around the same age as her, maybe older while the man was bald his golden ember eyes alone sent shivers up Blake's spine, but that didn't compare to the next one on the far left of the people before her, it felt as if his very anger was being projected as an aura and Blake could feel every bit of it. Now Blake was really starting to feel the pressure, even trying to avoid eye contact with the councilman she could still feel the daggers of his eyes drilling into her very skull. Last one was another woman and thankfully she had a less threatening aura from the third.
As Blake and her mother took a seat right behind Ghira he was greeted by his lawyer, an average height man in his late forties, with blake hair and a hit of gray hair starting to take place. Mr. Brown was the way her father addressed him, and from what Blake could make out she hoped he could help make this trial go smoother. Blake then noticed the empty seat right in the middle of the council members, she made a guess that's where the head councilmember would sit, then the doors opened and an officer came through.
"All rise for head Councilmember Rayman." The officer spoke… wait didn't her mother say he retired, but she heard right… maybe this was the break they needed suddenly this might go well after all. The door over on the left of where the council members sat opened and out walked quite a young man to be head council member, probably in his late thirties early forties, head black hair and light brown skin, with chocolate eyes.
He walked over to his seat and shuffled around some papers, brief looking over them. Blake had no idea why but in the last thirty second he walked in it was dead silence, the only thing Blake could hear was the faint sound of the AC in the background, she also took notice how both her parents stiffen up and that didn't make her feel better, clearly this was not the same Rayman her father mention. Blake was quickly snapped back to reality at the sound of his voice.
"You may be seated. The case regarding the attack on Haven Academy by the White Fang led by Ghira Belladonna is now in section. The defendant has the floor for the next ten minutes, you may speak freely Mr. Belladonna." He said
Mr. Brown was about to speak but Ghira stopped him to which he agreed to as Ghira began to speak, "Members of the council, first I would like to thank you for your time here this Sunday morning. Secondly the attack on Haven Academy was never the intention of the White Fang that was under my lead, but the once lead by Adam Taurus. My organization got word of his plan and we acted to stop his attack on the Academy, it was never my intention to cause any sort of harm." Ghira finished but before he continued the third council member, the very same one that gave off that horrible aura rose his hand, as if asking permission to speak. To which the head councilman agreed to.
"Forgive me for the rude interruption, but I can't help but wonder how you manage to let your own organization get this out of hand. It's my belief that a strong leader can keep their followers in check even in difficult times… but what I see before me is the opposite of a leader. Mr. Belladonna a question for you, did you know of the increased violent actions of the White Fang over the years?" He almost expected the answer he was searching for.
"Yes, I was aware of the violent actions…but I did take action. I constantly reminded them that a violent path was not the proper way to make a change." Ghira responded
"I would have to agree with Councilmen Black." Said the other male, "If I may also ask a question, what sort of actions did you take when you heard about the violent actions?" The other councilman asked
"Well…mostly speaking to them out in public." Ghira answered honestly
"Have you ever considered a more… direct approach? Because clearly speaking out in public to them didn't make them stop." He finished
"Well that is more than what most people will do, don't you agree Smith." One of the councilwomen spoke up on the far right. "Most leaders in an organization would simply try and cover it up, I do appreciate the effort that you tried to put Mr. Belladonna. But simply speaking to them about the issues isn't enough I'm afraid, sometimes you are faced with a very difficult choice of not letting those individuals be part of your organization." She finished
"Councilwoman Aguilar you can't deny the fact that the Faunus have caused nothing but trouble, years of violence and all their so-called 'leader' did was just talk. Members of the council you must look at the facts in front of us, they must be kept in check." Black said
"And I would argue that would only lead to more violence." The woman to his right spoke, "While the rights they have are a start, taking them away would have an unwelcoming response." She said, "Mr. Belladonna, what do you plan to accomplish in this trial today?"
"I want to first and foremost clear any misunderstanding on the attack on Haven Academy on Saturday evening, secondly I want to set new Bills in motion to give the Faunus the rights and equality they deserve." Ghira answered
"Misunderstand, do you mean the group of people that were found at the scene of the crime and are currently on hold?" She asked
"Yes Ms. Garcia… and regarding the Bills, it's no secret that the Faunus are still treated unfairly across Remnant… My goal will always be to try and give my daughter and wife a better life than I had, but not just them for Faunus everywhere." He answered
"A noble answer indeed." Councilman Smith said, "But that doesn't change the fact of your lack of control of your own organization. Black brings up a good point, the Faunus have already gotten a fair amount of movement towards equality, and let's not forget the land that was given to you, I have to ask myself if you are the right person to lead this moment forward." Smith said.
Blake was now sweating, she wasn't even the one up there and yet she could feel the heat and pressure that her father was experiencing, Councilman Black and his negative aura didn;t help either, but what really was making Blake nervous was the head Councilman Rayman. She asked her mother quietly if this was the same Rayman she was talking about earlier, sadly her mother said no, probably just one of those same name different person type scenarios. Regardless, throughout the questioning he has not looked up not once, his head glued to the papers in front of him, slowly flipping through them as the question kept coming. What the hell… why was this making Blake so on edge? Was this really doomed from the start, will the Fanuns ever get the rights they are trying so hard to achieve.
*Bang Bang Bang*
Everyone in the room stopped as the sound of the gavel echoed throughout the room, everyone turned and faced the head council member as he finally set down the papers in front of him before speaking.
"Excellent points from both the defendant and the councilmember… I think a great deal of appreciation should be the first topic to discuss." He spoke as he continued, "Throughout the course of human and Fanuns history, there have been few people that go against the laws that have been set and try to change them for the better of both parties. Mr. Belladonna you have my condolences, starting an organization in general is hard enough, once that actually makes a change in the world is even more unheard of. It is not easy for a solo individual to do that, and for that I thank you for your hard work so far in trying to make both The Fanuns and humans equal." He finished
"Thank you Mr. Rayman, it truly means the world to me to hear someone of your status say those words." Ghira responded
"However… I would have to agree with Mr. Blake and Smith, it does bring up the statement that they made… are you really the best person to lead this cause further?" Rayman asked
"I understand your doubt in me, especially after these recent events, but I promise on my name that I will make sure something like this never happens again, my goal will not change. I have a vision that humans and fanuns will leave together, free of any hate towards one another." Ghira finished as he composed himself a bit.
"You have a great deal of passion towards this goal, I do not blame you for getting a bit emotional." Rayman said as he looked at the other council members. "Mr. Belladonna I will now ask you two questions and depending how you answer them we will discuss the punishment for you and the White Fang. First being, how involved was your family in the White Fang?" He asked
"Well, my wife Kali has been with the organization since the very beginning and my daughter Blake was born into it as well." He stated leaving out Blakes passed.
Blake knew her father would never tell them of her passed action with the White Fang…but something felt off, it's as if that little lie that her father told didn't quite convince the head council member and now she felt daggers pressing up against her as she looked up at him and their eyes met.
"Interesting…is there anything else? If you want my advice it's best to come clean now rather than later. I have here in front of me some report of your daughter Blake Belladonna being involved in some illegal activities." He finished and doing so Blake felt heavy again. This, this is why she was feeling uneasy, that her past actions would come back to haunt her, but now it was her father that was taking the blame for her.
"Yes…my daughter was in the wrong for sometime but…" Ghira was interrupted by Black.
"Some leader you are, council members if this man can't even control his own daughter, then what good is he running an organization?" Black stated
Ghira was about to respond but the head council member stopped him, "Forgive him for interrupting you, now onto the next question and this one isn't for you Mr. Belladonna rather, your daughter. I believe that the person that committed those crimes should be given a chance to explain themself rather than have someone else do it for them. Council members I propose that Ms. Blake Belladonna come forward in order to give her testament." Rayman said
Blake couldn't believe her ears, no they were not playing tricks on her she heard him loud and clear. She was now shaking, how in Remnant is she supposed to go up and basically tell them of all the terrible things she has done. She then felt another hand on her shoulder and it was her mother looking at her with loving eyes.
"We are right here Blake, nothing bad is going to happen to you okay." Kali said to her worried daughter.
"It's true Miss Belladonna… I can promise you that no harm will come to you." Rayman said as he got up from his seat and started to walk over to where Blake and her mother were sitting. Seconds later he was right in front of them both. "I know you are scared… for what reason it may be that is not my decision to make, however I can promise you that no blame will be placed on you. I just want to hear it from you, then we will make the decision." Rayman said as he held out his hand waiting for her to take it.
It was strange, almost in an instant Blake was calming down, she could figure out why but, she figured to just go up there and tell them the truth. Just rip the bandaid off in one go. With a steady breath she got up and took his hand as he led her to where her father was standing.
" feel free to stay here with your daughter, however I only ask that she may answer the questions that I'm about to ask." Rayman said as he walked over back to his seat.
Blake felt her fathers hand as he took a hold of it, "No matter what happens Blake we will be here for you okay." Ghira said to his daughter
"Well let the questioning continue… is it true that you were previously involved in violent action with the White Fang?" Rayman asked
Blake knew the answer, and she was pretty sure he did too, but saying it out loud always felt harder than it needed to but with a shaky breath she answered, "Y-yes… yes it's true." Blake answered and almost immediately Black spoke up.
"Why are we wasting our time with these pointless questions, we all know she was a part of the violent movement of the White Fang so why waste our time with a criminal." Black said
"I don't recall asking for your input Council member Black… and it's the key words in my question that are important specifically 'previously'." He turned back towards Blake, "Sorry about that, now follow on question, so you are no longer part of the White Fang?" He asked
"No…well…I want to be part of the White Fang that makes a change. The right way…I'm… ashamed of myself…everyday I think back to all those things that I did. I convinced myself that I was doing good, that was actually making a change in the world. But I think it was my own arrogance that blinded me from the truth." Blake at this point was spilling her guts out, but what's to stop her they already know she is a criminal so the best thing she could do was give her side of the story. "My parents slowly started to get less involved in the White Fang as it took a more violent approach… I called them cowards…even now, even when they keep telling me that's okay, I can't help but hope that they would at least shout at me; scream at me on what a terrible daughter I am. I tried to hide my past from the people I consider my friends, when I first joined Beacon it was to start over, forget about me past and try and help the Faunus by being a voice on the huntsmen world." Blake was breathing hard and she soon realized she got away from the original question. "I'm-I;m sorry… I didn't mean to…" She was cut off by Rayman.
"Don't be, please continue." He said as he gave her his full attention along with the rest of the council members
"I…became part of a team, and I soon found out that your past will eventually resurface. But it was the happiest day of my life, they didn't care they help me achieve what I was trying to achieve on my own, now I want to help the Faunus and humans the right way, I want to be a part of the movement that makes a difference the generation that heals all those scars left by one another. I came here because I wanted to be more involved in the White Fang, to help my parents, even though I feel I can never forgive myself for all the things I have done. I feel guilty about it every single day." Blake finished and in doing so she felt a lot lighter
There was silence in the room for a bit, as if everyone in the room was processing what Blake said then Rayman spoke up, "You are training to become a huntress yes?" He asked
"Yes sir I am." Blake answered
"Very interesting… I believe we heard everything we needed to hear, will the defendant please be escorted out while the council decides on the final verdict." Rayman said and with that they exited the room.
Blake honestly couldn't believe what she just said, but she was glad she did. It felt as if a huge weight had been lifted off her shoulders. "Oh I'm so proud of my baby girl." Kali said as she gave Blake a big hug.
"Mom!" Blake said but it was no use as her father joined in as well
"I think we will be just fine, I didn't want to say anything but I think Rayman was really trying to help us." Ghira said
"How that's not the same Rayman we met when we first started the movement." Kali stated
"Your right but, I just have a feeling he still is in favor of equal rights for Faunus." Ghirs said
Blake and her parents sat in silence for the next half hour waiting for the final verdict then the doors opened with a woman standing in front.
"They are ready for you." She said
Blake and her family walked in together and all three of them stood in front of the council members.
"The case regarding the attack on Haven Academy has reached a final verdict. The White Fang under the lead of Ghira Belladonna will have no charges pressed against them."
Blake and her parents erupted with joy, but of course they celebrated a bit too early until Black interrupted them, "However this will only go through if certain conditions are met. First and foremost the apprehension of Adam Taurus within the allotted time of five months. We can not allow him to escape the crimes he has committed. Secondly a change in leadership, you will no longer be head of the White Fang, tha title…"Black was interrupted by Rayman
"Will go to your daughter Blake Belladonna." He said and they left everyone in shock more so for Blake. How could she even lead a whole organization, she barely could keep her life in check let alone the entire Faunus.
"Wait… aren't there any other conditions…I just don't think I'm the person to be in charge…I think my father is more than capable to continue to be our leader." Blake tried to argue
"I understand your doubt in yourself." Rayman said, "But a huntress leading the organization might just be what the Faunus needs. Which brings us to our last condition, well I wouldn't call it that persay. Your father will continue to lead the White Fang for the next two years with surveillance of course, that will allow you to continue your education on becoming a fully licensed huntress. Once that's done your father will officially turn over his position of leader to you, I believe that you're the right person for this job you've been on both sides of the spectrum, you've seen the terrible things violence brings with that. Now here you are with your parents trying to undo all the terrible things the White Fang has caused. It takes a very special person to face their inner demons, by telling us your past actions and the actions you are taking right now to try and make things right speaks more than words." Rayman finished
Blake stood there in complete disbelief… could she really do this…I mean it's not like her father will be gone he will still be there to help her whenever she needs it. Then she thought back to that time, the time when asked her why she became a huntress in the first place, this is why. This exact moment was probably what was trying to hint at, she chuckled to herself a bit before speaking.
"I still believe that I'm the least qualified Faunus to lead us in having equal rights…I'll do it." She answered
"Excellent choice, this case has been closed." *Bang Bang*
As the rest of the councilmember exited the room only Rayman stayed behind with the Belladonnas, "Okay Ghira you've been looking at me like I'm some kind of ghost so I'll answer your question that's written all over your face, Yes Viktor Rayman is my uncle." He said
"I could have sworn that you looked very familiar, I just didn't want to bring it up." Ghira said
"I know right, spitting image of him, I'm sure you have some more personal questions, yes?" He asked mostly directing it to Blake
"How…how did you convince the rest of them not to press charges on us, I mean do disrespect sir but, Council members Black and Smith seemed very against the whole Faunus movement." Blake asked
"They sure are an interesting pair are they not? It may come as a surprise to you but they were forward in giving Faunus equal rights, while they had their fair share of encounters with the more violent White Fang, so did council members Aguliar and Garcia but they all can agree on one thing. Humans and Faunus have been at each other's throats since we can remember, constant violence, and endless fighting. People get tired of it, people want more for their kids, for the people they care about. It did take some convincing, I will not lie but they are on board. Don't worry, their big teddy bears under all the grumpiness, however I must stress the importance of your deadline Miss. Belladonna. It is imperative that you get your license as soon as possible, your father will remain in charge until then, or else charges will resurface." Rayman warned her
"I promise I will not let you down." Blake said with confidence since walking in here.
"Good, now I think your group of friends are probably bored out of their minds, you might want to give them a hand, here" Rayman handed Blake a folder "It's for their release, and do try and keep out of trouble. Honestly I'm only 38 and I can already feel gray hairs coming in." Rayman said
With that out of the way Blake and her parents left the courthouse on their way to the police station, to get her teammates and friends out. 'He's probably right, if I know Ruby and the rest of them, oh gods and Nora. Wonder what they are doing right now?' Blake thought to herself
"69 CARTS OF DUST ON THE WALL 69 CARTENS OF DUST, YOU TAKE ONE OUT PASS IT AROUND 68 CARTS OF DUST LEFT ON THE WALL,68 CARTS OF DUST ON THE WALL 68 CARTENS OF DUST, YOU TAKE ONE OUT PASS IT AROUND 67 CARTS OF DUST LEFT ON THE WALL" They all sang
"Yup…we're that bored." Qrow said as he drank his tiny orange juice
First I want to say this took a long time to write, between coming home super tired and choosing between games, and writing in my spare time I'll admit I chose gaming. Secondly I always was very interested in court cases in general so writing the court scene was a bit challenging. Sometimes I wrote parts that were just too confusing, other times I just didn't like it so I ended up deleting it over 5 times. But I think I ended it with satisfaction and I hope you guys find it enjoyable as well. Court cases can be really boring and also very sensitive depending on the topic so I hope I did it justice, there are some elements I left out but I'll be honest that's just me being lazy. I really wanted to give the whole issue with the White Fang at least a proper ending, ulike in the show where they just kind of forgot about it since at the start of vol 7 and even 6. Next chapter will be some more Whiteknight fluff so don't worry I have been taking notes and have planned this story up until chapter 20. So have a good day and please share your thoughts, did I do good or did I just straight suck big doo doo, either way love to hear the feedback.
Next Chapter: Chapter 3 "It Needs Work"
