Chapter 6: The True Test

"A brand-new war. After some confusion between the Jedi Council and Danny Phantom, Phantom has now joined the Grand Republic and Vlad Plasmius has now joined the Separatists' Army. Making the battle between long-term archenemies and rivals much more intense and creating a much more deadly war. Obi-Wan Kenobi has been nominated to become the new Jedi Master for Danny Phantom. While the Jedi Council, sees that Phantom is also a peacekeeper and a protector of innocents, just like a Jedi, there is some concern on how Phantom will be trained. Obi-Wan Kenobi preps to try to teach Phantom the ways of the Force and to see if he can or is truly force-sensitive."

Danny woke up staring up at the metallic ceiling in the spare room he was allowed to sleep in. he sat up stretching after several popping noises Danny rose and made his way through the spartan room to the bathroom. After taking several minutes of figuring out how the shower worked, Danny exited the bathroom. After a few minutes of drying himself off, Danny had noticed a box on the shelf, and he went to see that it had Clockwork's symbol on the box and the note.

"Danny, I hope that you are alright and that Count Dooku, and his Separatist Battle Droids didn't harm you as much as I thought. I didn't warn you about the Jedi Council because I believed that you could handle it. And I was right. I am glad that you did the right thing, you saved Ahsoka Tano and rescued those troopers from Dooku and Asajj Ventress. I should warn you that Plasmius has joined Dooku's Separatists and is now being trained as a Sith Lord with a lightsaber. I will help you even the odds. Inside is 2 gifts that will help you in this fight." Danny read as he opened the box. And he found two very helpful items that he could use.

"You may recognize your Clockwork Apprentice Suit that you have back on Earth that you wore when you were training with me in my Clocktower. I had upgraded the material making where no matter what form you are in, ghost or human, that will be the color and the suit you are wearing. That is your style and suit. It is yours to keep and wear in this war. I hope you wear the suit with pride and honor. (Look at the cover picture in this fanfiction to see what it looks like.) Your second gift is a new weapon. As every Jedi would build themselves a lightsaber, I brought you the weapon that you would first build. Use this weapon well, My Apprentice. (Look at the cover picture in this fanfiction to see what it would look like. *See the single lightsaber.) Keep this weapon hidden until the right time to use it. Now that you can leave the box's cover and use it to contact me for advice.

-Clockwork

P.S. I told your parents the truth. That you are alive and that you are on a mission for me, and you are attempting to bring Plasmius down. Only your family and friends know where you are. Good Luck, my friend."

"Thank You Clockwork. I will always thank you and be loyal to you. Thank You, my mentor and master." Danny said thanking Clockwork.

Danny began to put on his undershirt and pants. He had finished placing his training jacket putting his gloves inside his pockets when he took a look at his lightsaber. He inspected it seeing how the material and the button were located. He turned the lightsaber on, taking a few practice swings. He put his lightsaber on his waist and placed the invisibility cloak on it, so no would be able to see it or feel it.

His supernatural hearing picked up someone walking to his door. A knock on the door quickly followed.

"Come on in." spoke Danny putting on the boots just as Ahsoka walked in.

"Good morning, Danny." greeted Ahsoka. Taking a seat on the only chair in the room.

"Good morning Ahsoka. So, what's the plan for today?" asked Danny rubbing the back of his neck. Ahsoka could feel the anxiety flowing off him. She sent him a reassuring smile.

"Well, I thought you could use a tour of the temple." said Ahsoka. Her smile soothed some of Danny anxiety.

"Yeah, that sounds good." Danny said agreeing with her. Ahsoka started looking at Danny with a surprised and curious expression.

"Nice suit, Danny. We didn't give that to you." Ahsoka asking curious about the suit.

"It was something that I brought when I got to the room. Not bad, huh." Danny explaining to her about the training suit.

The sudden growling of Danny's stomach drew their attention. Danny blushes in embarrassment as Ahsoka tried to hide her laughter.

"Come on Spooks, let's go get breakfast." said Ashoka. Danny quietly followed her still in his human form.

Inside the Jedi Temple Cafeteria...

Danny and Ashoka are seated across from each other munching on some triangular waffle like food. Danny had around 4 peoples' worth of on his plate.

"I'm surprised you can eat all that." commented Ashoka.

"Well, I don't have access to an external source of ectoplasm, and it has been a few since I was in the Ghost Zone, so my metabolism is increased in speed, so I need to consume more calories than I would normally require.

"Ecto...what?" Ahsoka asking confused.

"Don't worry about it. Just means I need to eat a whole lot to fuel my powers." said Danny waving the topic off.

"Oh, ok then." said Ahsoka. They soon settled into a comfortable silence. Some moments later Danny spoke.

"So Ahsoka…... what's going to happen to me now?" asked Danny understandable concerned about his future.

"Well, I don't know everything, but you're now under the Jedi Order's care. So, if I had to guess you'll probably be here at the temple for a while. Chances are you'll be trained and maybe you'll be assigned a master too." explained Ashoka

"Well at least I won't be homeless." said Danny chuckling. "I'd be nice to have training for these new powers. I've been learning all about my powers and trained before, but I am not sure that any one of my mentors and friends could train me with these powers."

"Danny there's something that I've been curious about. I don't mean to sound rude. But exactly what are you? I mean you look human, but you clearly aren't one." asked Ahsoka. Danny looked at her.

"Even if I did tell you. You probably wouldn't believe me." said Danny trying dissuading Ahsoka shaking his head.

"Danny, I've seen you do things that are impossible, even the strongest Jedi couldn't do half of the things I've seen you do. " Said Ahsoka making a very valid point. Danny contemplated her words. she has seen him use his powers and both his human and ghost forms. She'd stood up for him during the council meeting. Besides Danny didn't have or need a secret identity anymore.

"Ok. my enemies and allies would call me the Halfa." said Danny after finishing his inner debate.

"Halfa?" said Ahsoka

"It means I'm half human, half Ghost. I'm half alive, half dead. And before you ask, no I don't know exactly how it works, it just does. I spent next 2 years protecting my town from ghosts and the occasional rare criminal." elaborated Danny losing himself in memories for a brief moment.

"Wow ok, I wasn't expecting that. How did you get these powers? You said they were biological, but you've only had them for a short time and what about your adventures?" questioned Ahsoka lapsing into a child-like excited curiosity.

"That might take some time, how about I tell you while you show me around the Temple and maybe you can tell me some of your stories. Deal?." said Danny with a smile as he stood up and started toward one of the exits. Ashoka quickly stood and moved to his side.

"Deal. Now spill." said Ahsoka with a smile as she started leading Danny through the halls.

"I was just fourteen when my parents build very strange machine…" began Danny retelling his adventures.

In Another Part of The Jedi Temple...

"Ha ha ha ha ha ha" Anakin's laughter echoed throughout the corridor.

"Get a hold of yourself, Anakin. This is no laughing matter, Anakin." scolded Obi-Wan. Anakin's laughter died down.

"With a due respect master. I find it very funny that you're going to 'train' spooks." said Anakin. Obi-Wan's eyebrows rose in shock.

"What, how did, who told you?" stammered Obi-Wan. Anakin smirked.

"Kit. He told me everything including your attempt to have the boy train under me." said Anakin arms crossed and sending his old master a look. Obi-Wan cursed Master Fisto in his mind.

"Anakin, I was just recommending you, because the boy is closer to you and Padawan Tano. It would be far easier for you to teach him." spoke Obi-Wan not giving the whole truth.

"And I bet your recommendation had nothing to do with how the boy distrusts you or how most of your early interactions ended with you hurt." said Anakin with a smug smile at his former master Anakin continued to speak.

"But I'll admit, I'm a little disappointed in the decision. I would have gladly taught Spooks. I got this feeling that he and Ahsoka would have made a very effective team. Besides, you're really bad with children." spoke Anakin stroking his chin and laughing a little.

"What would make you say… what the hell?" spoke Obi-Wan in alarm and confusion as several younglings and padawans rushed past them excitedly. Anakin caught one of the passing younglings.

"Whoa there, little one, what's going on?" asked Anakin to the small, green-skinned Twi'lek girl.

"Padawan Tano is sparing with a strange white-haired boy. Master Skywalker, and he's shooting blaster bolts from his hands!" answered the roughly eight your old. Anakin let her rush off with the other children before turning to Obi-Wan.

"Come on, let's see how your new student fights." said Anakin as he rushed off following the children. Obi-Wan sighed then followed after his fellow Jedi Master.

In the Temple's Training Grounds...

In one of the temples many training rooms, a small crowd has gathered. The crowd of younglings, padawans, Jedi knights, and three Jedi Masters (Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Luminara) watch in varying degrees of awe as Ashoka and Danny spar.

Danny had created an icy Kendo Staff and was holding back with his other powers. Shooting only small stinging blasts and pulling his punches while Ahsoka had her lightsaber set on Training Mode.

Ahsoka landed a kick to Danny's face sending back this put some distance between them creating a lull in the fight.

The two had been sparring for over an hour and it was breathing heavy, several small bruises were beginning to show on her skin, and she glistened with sweat. Danny's breathing was even and slow, not showing any fatigue or signs of tiring due to his supernatural endurance. He did, however, sport several cuts to his jumpsuit, and a bit of his green ectoplasmic blood flowed from his mouth from Ahsoka's kick.

"Good hit." commented Danny wiping the blood from his mouth.

"Thanks, Spooks." said Ahsoka having finally caught her breath.

"Ready to throw in the towel." stated Danny playfully.

"Not just yet." replied Ahsoka rushing forward. Danny grabbed his Kendo Staff, and they began to clash once again. They both clash with their weapons clashing with a variety of striking parrying, dogging and counterattacking in a flurry of fists, staff, blasts and blade. Danny managing to use the skills from his training, but he still had trouble due to his self-imposed handicap and Ahsoka's years of formal skill and how she could predict his moves to some extent and Danny could see and predict some of her moves.

Occasionally, Danny would show off a small bit, by showcasing his acrobatic skills and cartwheeling away or backflipping away from her to dodge her attacks and to gain an advantage to attack. He was showcasing a new style and stance that he had been using and was not recognized by the Jedi Masters. Taking the training from Clockwork, Pandora, Frostbite, Queen Dora, and Wulf and taking all of their training methods and molding them into his own style. He was impressing the Jedi Knights and Masters Luminara, Skywalker, and Kenobi.

"I think that is enough." spoke Obi-Wan. Ahsoka and Danny both frozen mid-strike. Both Ahsoka and Danny stopped in mid-strike, both just about to connect to each other again.

They too broke the stance as they looked over at Obi-wan and Anakin approaching them. Ahsoka could see Master Luminara breaking up the crowd.

Danny tensed slightly when Obi-Wan finished his approach.

"That was a pretty intense spar. You did good, Snips." commented Anakin.

"Snips?!" said Danny snickering at the nickname as he looked at Ahsoka.

"And what's so funny, Spooks?" questioned Ahsoka

"That you guy miss out you guys should have named me Quips." said Danny breaking out into a fit of giggles. Ahsoka shook her head in slight amusement as Anakin just smile. The small moment was broken as Obi-Wan coughed.

"Impressive, young Phantom. Apparently, you have been trained stronger than what originally thought." Obi-Wan complementing Danny.

"Thank you, Master Kenobi." Danny thanking Obi-Wan.

"Phantom, the council has reached a decision. You will be formally trained, and I have been assigned as your master." stated Obi-Wan very business-like.

Danny had mixed feelings about the news. He was happy that he would finally have some formal training, and that he'd be able to help a lot of people who were in danger because of the war. he was also very happy he'd get to hang out with Ahsoka and Anakin more since Ahsoka mention that they were often paired with Obi-Wan. He was glad from getting a teacher that he was familiar with, so he was glad he got Obi-Wan as a teacher, but from past experience with him, he was concern about Obi-Wan taking even bigger interest in his powers.

In the Ghost Zone, there was 2 major laws that were followed that involved contact with humans: The Living Shall Not Enslave Souls of The Dead and The Dead Shall Not Share Their Power with The Living. And Obi-Wan was interested in his blood.

But, in the forefront of his mind, he remembered 'This is what Clockwork meant by the next part of my journey.'

"Congrats, Spooks you'll be a full Jedi before you know it." said Anakin. Danny mentally sighed it could be worse 'Maybe I'll be able to learn about the starships and other cool tech they have.'

"This is great! We'll get to go on missions together. Just wait till you properly meet Rex and all the boys." said Ahsoka excited about future adventures they will go on. Danny smiled at Ahsoka.

"But, before all that happens, Danny, I need you to follow me for something that I need to teach and learn about you." Obi-Wan reminding Danny and pulling themselves from the conversation.

"Lead the Way." Danny responded as he morphed back to human and began to follow Obi-Wan.

"Good Luck, Danny." Ahsoka said wishing him well.

"Thanks, Ahsoka." Danny responding back before they were too far.

In Another Part of The Temple...

Obi-Wan Kenobi had led Danny to another part of the temple and was near his quarters and they had finally stopped.

"Ok, we are here." Obi-Wan stopping and telling him where they were.

"Why are we here?" Danny asked about why they are there.

"I am curious on something. During our Council meeting, a question came up but, we were never able to answer it. That question was about you, my new apprentice. Not to seem invasive or blunt, what exactly are you?" Obi-Wan asking.

"You said that your powers were biological and that there were only 3 people like you, but we ran an analysis on every species on that we have a record on and we could not discover or locate your home planet." Obi-Wan asking.

"My home planet is far out in wild space. Almost like it would possibly take years to find it." Danny trying to explain and dissuaded Obi-Wan.

"Even in wild space, we would have a record of any planet that we know of or have seen from any experience. Even with any experience from the past or present we would have some information and knowledge." Obi-Wan explaining.

"But, even with all of our knowledge, we can't discover anyplace that would have your species with your type of powers." Obi-Wan still explaining.

"That is because my powers originate from someplace other than my home planet." Danny finally explaining to Obi-Wan.

"... ... That would explain why we couldn't find any record of your powers. If wouldn't mind explaining about that. You say get your powers from someplace other than other than your home planet." Obi-Wan asking.

"My planet is not exactly like here. My planet would have to be considered a back-water planet. We have not exactly perfected our intergalactic travel; we have not exactly even gotten past our own solar system." Danny trying to explain.

"My powers actually come from a separate dimension, called the Ghost Zone." Danny explaining.

"That is not a name or place that would be in our archives." Obi-Wan saying, surprised about that type of place that would exist.

"Until a few years, we hadn't even known about the Ghost Zone ourselves." Danny explaining.

"With my powers, the energy that Ghost Zone produces has fused itself into my blood, which grants me ghost powers."

"Is that why you wouldn't let us take a blood sample?" Obi-Wan asking.

"There are some evil beings who are bent on discovering the secret of our power and would stop at nothing to get it, including capturing me to extract the power from my cells, and when I saw the vial of blood, I got spooked. In the Ghost Zone, there are two ancient laws that we all follow: The Living Shall Not Enslave Souls of The Dead and The Dead Shall Not Share Their Power with The Living." Danny asking.

Obi-Wan was a little surprised and even more curious as he would like to continue to study his new Padawan.

"Ok, I understand now. But to ask my original question: What exactly are you?"

"... My enemies and friends would refer to me as a Halfa. Half-human, half-ghost." Danny finally answering and showcasing his powers to Obi-Wan.

"That would make sense, with your powers. The Force is all around us, it binds us, penetrates us, and when Jedi pass, they truly become one with the Force. And since you have essentially the Force energy within. You, perhaps have the potential to become a great Jedi." Obi-Wan saying.

"Thank you, Master Kenobi." Danny said, saying 'Master' felt a bit foreign.

"There is one final test to see." Obi-Wan said as he shut all blinds blocking out the sun and any outside noises and pulling out a holocron. "This is a holocron. It is what Jedi use to store information on any subject: Messages, Lists, Star maps, and Galaxy mappings."

"Reminds me of the Ancient scrolls that we used in the Ghost Zone to record our information." Danny said.

"Only a Jedi or someone force-sensitive could be able to open it to access it's information. This is your one test to see if you are force-sensitive." Obi-Wan said, placed the holocron on the ground and backed up giving Danny plenty of room.

Danny, got down in a meditative stance and began to focus on his powers and just think and use his mind and heart to focus himself and the holocron.

Few minutes had passed, and Danny was still trying to open the holocron.

'Picture the cube and slowly turn the sliders and open it. Just like when training to attract your ectoplasmic weapons, summon them to your palm, or with levitation, move them in your mind.' Danny was thinking in his mind.

'There, now open the holocron.'

Obi-Wan was still watching and was being patient with his Padawan. He was almost on the verge of calling it off, until slowly, part of the holocron began to move and the sliders began to open and the holocron's information was opened: The galaxy map that Obi-Wan had been studying since Danny had arrived.

Danny began to hear the clicking and whirring and he finally opened his eyes and he saw it. Danny had opened the Holocron and Obi-Wan was looking at the holocron and Danny and was looking impressed.

"You opened it. You passed the test." Obi-Wan said to Danny as he was getting up. "I think you are going to do well as my Padawan and new apprentice." Obi-Wan said putting a hand on his shoulder.

"Turn around, my new apprentice." Obi-Wan asked Danny. Danny complied and turned around. Obi-Wan took out a Traditional Jedi Padawan braid and attached it towards his hair, letting it flow down on his right shoulder and making Danny his apprentice and his Padawan.

"Congratulations, my apprentice. You are now a Jedi Padawan and a member of the Jedi Order." Obi-Wan said.

"Thank you, Master." Danny said, bowing down.

"I hope you are ready. This will not be an easy challenge or path. You will be pushed to limits you have never seen and will discover new thing about yourself and others that many others will never see or have knowledge of." Obi-Wan warning him.

"I have been through challenges before and have gone up against some of the darkest dangers, curses, and creatures that the Ghost Zone or Earth has to offer. I can do this." Danny said, to encourage himself and Obi-Wan.

"Good, first thing, head out to the archives and begin reading on the history of the Jedi and galactic planets that the galaxy would have."

"Yes, Master." Danny said as he runs out.

"I believe that he would do well in the journey ahead." Obi-Wan saying.

In Clockwork's Tower...

"Everything is the way it is supposed to be." Clockworks said, contently.

Congratulations, my apprentice. Let's see how your parade will now twist and turn." Clockwork said as he watches the monitor.

Inside The Jedi Temple Library...

"...You just need to know where to look. It's like bug hunting except... actually it is exactly like bug hunting." Danny joked as he is recalling some of his adventures.

Ahsoka sighed. "I would rather be doing that than this right now." She said gesturing to the list of halo records she needed to read. "It feels like a punishment with how much there is," complained Ahsoka.

"It's not so bad, the ones on starfighter repair and maintenance look interesting," stated Danny.

"Maybe, but working out in the field is better, learning from watching is much better." Ahsoka stated, clearly bored.

"How long before you had your first field assignment?" Danny asking her, curiously.

"After a few years of training from Master Yoda." Ahsoka said not realizing Danny was surprised.

"WOW, I hope that doesn't take that long for me." stated Danny worried.

"I am sure you won't have wait that long for a field assignment." Ahsoka said trying to relax Danny. "When did you have your first field assignment?" she asked.

"I had about a month after getting my powers, I had my first fight." Danny replied, shocking Ahsoka. "I took on 2 ghostly octopuses and one gigantic meat monster. I didn't even have much training then; I honestly was still working on controlling my powers."

"How bad was it, trying to control?"

"My body would keep phasing through stuff and certain objects of my body would become invisible." Danny said, sounding depressed.

"Ouch, that is rough." Ahsoka agreeing with Danny.

"Hey, Danny, there is something I am curious about your suit." Ahsoka stated.

"Sure, ask away." said Danny.

"What are the symbols supposed to be or mean?" She asked.

"The symbol-" Danny started to say when Ahsoka's communicator went off.

"Ahsoka, are you there?" Obi-Wan's voice asked from the other side.

"Master Kenobi, we were just talking about you," Ahsoka said, feeling interrupted with her answer to her question.

"Gather your equipment and report to the hanger," ordered Obi-Wan. Danny looked down, because he thought he wouldn't be heading out on the mission.

"What's going on Master Obi-Wan?" asked Ahsoka. Throwing a sympathetic look at Danny.

"The planet Naboo is possibly under threat. We are being sent to investigate and deal with the problem," stated Obi-Wan.

"Ok Master I'll be there soon," replied Ahsoka. But before she hung up, Obi-Wan spoke up.

"Danny, I haven't got a chance to give you a communicator, but that order goes for you too. Grab your gear, my Padawan, we have our first mission." Obi-Wan spoke. Danny's head snapped up a mixer of shock and joy on his face.

"Really?!" spoke Danny. A large smile on both Danny and Ahsoka's faces.

"Looks like you get your chance," spoke Ahsoka with a smile.

"Let's get going, Ahsoka." Danny said as he began to run.

"Hey! Wait for me." called Ahsoka standing as she ran to catch up with Danny.
