Bo and Dyson
Bo had cleaned up the house a bit before carrying a cooler full of beer out to their patio. Dyson had not arrived yet and she was happy for the reprieve.
She allowed herself to take a few breaths. Dagny was napping and she had the whole thing to herself. She had played video games with her sister until she passed out. Kenzi had to make a run and told Bo that she would be back later on.
The afternoon air was doing her senses a world of good. She needed to feed, but could wait until Lauren returned. Her Succubus had been on her mind, and one of her senses was the reason she invited Dyson over.
She wasn't expecting him to stay long, and wanted him gone before Lauren arrived back home. She wasn't sure where her mother and grandmother were, but knew she didn't need to check in on them. Kenzi had caught her up on their comings, and goings over breakfast. She didn't say too much to keep from alarming Dagny. Kenzi looked relaxed, and that was something Bo hadn't noticed since she came back home.
If someone asked her, Bo was sure that she was starting to relax too. The air never tasted sweeter knowing Lauren was out there somewhere, alive. Most importantly, she was alive, and she would be coming home to Bo.
Bo came out of her daydreams when she heard Dyson's motorcycle pulling up. She stood, and waved to get his attention. Nodding, Dyson walked over, and opened the door to the huge fence that circled their house.
Bo patted the seat beside her, and Dyson slowly took his seat. Bo hadn't said a word yet, and that worried him a bit. She gave no indication what she wanted to talk to him about.
"I asked you to join me out here because this is something that I don't want to talk about inside". Bo sighed looking at Dyson. Her instincts were correct. They needed this talk.
"Bo? What is this about? Is something with Kenzi? Dagny? Dyson asked.
"Dyson, I want you to listen to me carefully". Bo said softly, and waited for a response.
"Dyson my mother and grandmother are back. So I am no longer the only Succubus around here...". Bo started.
"I know that Bo". Dyson smiled softly.
"Well I also know, and can read your aura. If I can read it, so can they. I was not aware that I needed to say this, but I will. I remember in my Dawning that you said to ask you again in a hundred years. I know what you meant by that. You meant ask you when Lauren died. Well Dyson, she died. She died, and came back. Now when you are around her, or me, I can read your aura and it has never dulled. Lauren will be home soon and I want this to be over with by then. I love her Dyson. I loved her even after she died. Now that she is back, and I am totally grateful for that, I need you to try and get your aura under control. My mother and Grandmother will see it. Given how much they care about Lauren, they could kill you. I am almost sure Mom would without even thinking about. Now I value you and your life, but please do something about your feelings for me, because mine have never wavered when it comes to Lauren". Bo explained.
Dyson hung his head. It was easier said than done. Bo had been a pain in his ass when he first met her. She wouldn't follow any of the Fae laws and modes of operation. He didn't even know if he would even grow to like her. Until Trick asked him to keep an eye on her. But Bo kept getting wounded, and needed to feed. He was more than happy to help. They had it all until the Norn took his love, when she was supposed to take his wolf.
He thought back to when Lauren had come to get him to go after Bo. Vex could have killed her. That was the first time he saw traces of her Succubus. Then she was wounded by Aife and chose to heal with him, rather than go to Lauren to help.
He saw it in Bo's eyes then. He saw it in Bo's eyes when Lauren died. She really was in love with the Doctor. A love she had yet to return to him. Not that she ever would now. Bo had never once come out, and said that she was no longer in love with Lauren. She never even said she was no longer in love with Dyson. Dyson said it for her.
He saw it with Rainer. Even with Rainer, Bo still loved Lauren. He was just a means for her to escape her feelings for awhile, while she was under the assumptions that Lauren was sleeping with Evony. Dyson knew better.
He never sensed Evony's scent on Lauren. Not a single ounce. The only time he knew for sure that they slept together, was when Evony complained about being hot one minute and cold the next. He knew the former Morrigan was a human.
He had nothing to say to Bo. Over the years people had said and done plenty to point this out to him. The Lich's death. Nadia waking up. Although Bo never said it, her client had to have been pretty important to risk her life. If she had sneezed just once, the sand would have taken her life. Bo telling him directly after her Dawning. How miserable she was, and looked when Lauren had run off to Taft's. How deflated she looked after she found Lauren, only to walk away from her. Laveau telling him he was living in a prison of his own making. Evony keeping Lauren for as long as she could, knowing it pissed Bo off or was close to driving her over the edge. Into the dark. Bo was dark. But not until Lauren died. Not even when Hades had her did Dyson see her completely lose her shit.
Lauren. He thought about their conversation just before Vex nearly ran over the Elders. Lauren knew she would die one day, and wanted to make sure that he would be there for Bo. And he was. Or he tried to be, but Bo was inconsolable.
His biggest eye opener was just after Bo had attempted to drain them. There the six of them were, spread out on the ground. Bo climbed down and immediately rushed to check on Lauren.
He deduced that Lauren must have snapped her out of it, but could never bring himself to ask. He just took her at own words that all of their love snapped her out of it. The only way to know for sure would be to ask her Succubus. But he didn't trust opening that can of worms. So he swallowed his pride and opened his mouth.
"Bo. I have known that for weeks now actually. I knew it when your eyes were dropping blue tears. It wasn't just you mourning her, it was your Succubus too. I can't say that I don't care for you. I will never say that. But I will never overstep my position in your life. I take my fealty seriously". Dyson responded.
"We still have a monster out there Dyson. He came for Lauren once, I can't be distracted and miss him coming again. Even if he can't physically hurt her, it hurts me just thinking about the last time, and how easily he did it". Bo confessed.
"He won't get her Bo. We have a lot of fire power now". Dyson said softly. He wanted to rub her shoulder in assurance but thought better of it, given what they were talking about.
"No. Lauren is my responsibility. Mine. I let her down the last time, that can't happen again". Bo said. Dyson watched as her eyes flashed blue and back to brown.
"Ok. Ok. We will all be right beside you to fight him Bo. The two of you won't be in this alone". Dyson said.
"Now that we've gotten that all cleared up. I need to check on Dagny. She might have grown again and it should be close to time that Lauren gets home". Bo said softly standing to her feet.
"Yeah lets go and check on her. If she grew again, I can go out and get some clothes in her new size". Dyson laughed.
"No. No. Lauren and I have thought way ahead and ordered her some new outfits. If she doesn't like what comes, it's her own fault since she picked them out". Bo said opening the door and walking inside.
Dark Fae compound.
"And you're sure he is in here? You better not be wasting my time! Aife screamed.
"Of course not Your Highness, he's in there. He's been here for days, well that is after you and Queen Isabeau returned". Steven said.
"Excellent". Aife said stepping into the room after the doors had been opened for her.
"Steven you unappreciative little shit. I asked you not to tell anyone that I was here! Vex snapped after he heard the doors opening.
"Oh honey. You should know by now that I am not just anyone". Aife laughed as she slowly stalked the Mesmer.
"The last thing me wanted to see is a Succubus. Especially one as crazy as you". Vex groaned. He had spent days isolated in Evony's old bedroom.
"Now. Now. The last fucker that called me crazy lost his life. Which brings me to your sorry ass". Aife laughed again.
"Don't you have enough to do as heir to the throne than to mess around with a lowly peasant like me? Vex asked walking around in a circle. He wanted to be able to watch his back and his front with Aife so close.
"That makes two reasons why I am here now". Aife laughed after Vex jumped when she fake lunged at him.
"Your daughter and her bastard father nearly killed me. Did you come here to finish the job or what? I haven't got all day". Vex groaned again.
"You have as long as I allow you to have. Which won't be much longer. Now sit your candy ass down and listen to me boy". Aife bristled flashing her blue eyes.
"Shit. I'm about to be drained again". Vex said shaking and bowing his head.
"We are all preparing for another war. We don't need cowardly shits like you around. Since you can't be trusted". Aife said.
"What? I am no coward! Vex snapped but never raised his head. He needed to find a way out of his current predicament.
"Sending the Una Mens after Lauren when she was just a human. Mocking her for her humanity, when you have never been anything but a pencil dick Mesmer. All of that stops now. You do not want to piss me or the Queen off. We have grown very fond of the Doctor in the short amount of time that we have known her. You will mind your manners and business. If not you can get the fuck out of our colony". Aife explained bitterly. She had never liked men trying to over power women. Human or Fae.
"I get it. I get it. Your daughter will drain me. Yadda. Yadda. Yadda". Vex said and immediately felt a hard slap against his head. That is what happens when talking to Aife, and not paying attention to where she stood or sat.
"I won't start with your watered down Chi. I will start with your balls. I will cut them off one by, one and stuff them down your throat, one by one. Once I have cut off every limb. I will put my best heel on your neck and then suck your chi. The only thing saving you is that the Queen doens't want you dead yet. Don't mistake me for my daughter and the Queen. I won't hesitate to hurt a baby killer! Aife screamed slapping Vex on the back of his head.
"Ok. I won't go near the Doctor. Is there anything else that you want from me? Vex asked tiredly. Aife was still a pain in the ass. He should have killed her when the Scorpion man said that she was in town, after Bo arrived.
"Yes. Take a bath. If the Queen happens upon you, I don't want her smelling your ass like I am at the moment". Aife laughed covering her nose.
When Vex nodded, Aife turned back to Steven and waited until he opened the doors again. The compound looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. Vex wasn't the only one stinking up the place.
Aife smiled as she walked down the hall. There was a time when she imagined running the Dark Fae, but now that she was second in line to the throne, she could do what she wanted without the Elders up her ass. Not that any of them ever got the chance. She was picky about who she slept with, but never about who she killed over the years. Nobody that deserved to die lived.
Lauren
Lauren had arrived to thunderous applause. Every nurse, doctor, janitor, everyone clapped once she stepped inside of the lab.
"Welcome back Dr. Lewis", flowed around the lobby. The patients that were waiting to be treated even clapped. Lauren smiled that most of them looked healthy or on their way to recovery. The staff had done her proud. Especially since she handpicked all of them to work there.
"Dr. Lewis you have a guest waiting in your office". Nancy said pointing towards it.
"A guest? I just got here". Lauren laughed but didn't want to keep anyone waiting any longer than they had to.
Once Lauren finished her greetings, she made a beeline for her office. She couldn't wait to sink into her chair. It was so comfortable. When she arrived at the door, she could tell it had been decorated and cleaned. She smiled knowing they must have put ribbons and remembrances all around it.
Gently she opened the first door. The first thing she noticed was a starched lab coat hanging up just the way she liked. The second thing she noticed after opening the second door, was her guest staring out the window.
"Good afternoon Dr. Lewis". Queen Isabeau said turning around to face the woman.
Lauren laughed. She was about to bow but remembered their conversation. Bowing her head, she spoke. "Good afternoon Isabeau".
"Now. Now. We have talked about you bowing to me or Aife". Queen Isabeau laughed.
"I'm sorry. It just feels weird not bowing". Lauren laughed and immediately offered the Queen a chair.
"Would you bow to Bo? Queen Isabeau asked.
"Well no". Lauren laughed again trying not to blush at what she initially thought of.
"Then don't bow to me". Queen Isabeau said accepting the offered seat.
"What can I do for you? I assumed you were busy". Lauren said taking her own seat.
"I am never too busy for you, and don't you ever forget that. But I do have a purpose for being here". Queen Isabeau smiled softly.
"And that is? Lauren smiled in return.
"Do you like this clinic Doctor? Is it fit to your specifications? Is it lacking anything? Anything at all? Queen Isabeau asked warmly.
Lauren was thrown by all of the quick questions, but knew she needed to answer soon. "Well it could use a few more examination rooms so that we wouldn't have to treat people in the hall when we are at full capacity".
"How many more rooms are you thinking about? Would a second or third floor do? Queen Isabeau asked.
"I would love a taller clinic. That would allow for a lot of rooms and waiting areas. But Evony would never approve of it". Lauren sighed.
"It is my understanding that you also work with the local hospitals is that correct? Queen Isabeau asked.
"Yes ma'am". Lauren smiled.
"Are they all quickly accessible to your current patients? Queen Isabeau asked.
"Yes. They are not too far a drive from here". Lauren answered. She was getting curious about all of the questions but was too polite, and knew better than to push.
"Excellent and you needn't worry about Evony anymore". Queen Isabeau smiled. She wanted to make sure she wasn't putting anyone out that needed to be treated. Lauren was a Doctor. From what she read about her, a damn good, and dedicated one.
"I'm sorry? Lauren said quizzically.
"Evony doesn't run things around here anymore". Queen Isabeau finally confessed.
"Does she know that? Lauren laughed. Evony was going to be pissed off with a capital P.
"She does. She just left me, after I told her the news". Queen Isabeau smiled.
"What news would that be? Lauren asked.
"She built this clinic on Light Fae territory. Since I am Queen again, it is mine. Mine to decide what to do with, and with your permission I do want to make one immediate adjustment? Queen Isabeau asked.
Lauren was floored. Evony never mentioned this being Light Fae territory. She had no rights, now that she was human. Lauren's curiosity over the Queen's question was getting the best of her.
"I need the new owner to sign this deed". Queen Isabeau said handing Lauren the document.
"A deed. I'm sorry to sound dumb, but don't you mean a contract? Lauren asked looking it over.
"Sign the document Dr. Lewis. This is your lab. I want you to have a legitimate document saying something else is yours. Something besides your house, and my granddaughter's body". Queen Isabeau laughed.
Lauren hid her blush behind her glee. She was happy that she now owned the clinic. It was spacious, but she wasn't lying when she said she wanted more rooms and floors. Smiling she picked up the nearest pen, and signed the document. When she was done she handed it back.
Queen Isabeau looked at her, and called for two of her guards. Once the men had joined them. She stamped the letter with her royal seal.
"Seems pointless, I know. But I wanted to do this for you. So that you have a record that a full blooded Fae respects you enough to do this for you, without expecting you to bow or cower to their demands. This is officially your clinic Lauren. I don't care what you rename it. Just let me know when you are ready to transfer your patients out to the hospitals for treatments. Then we can start the remodeling and get those floors added on". Queen Isabeau said seriously.
"That should take about a week or two, I want to make sure that the other Doctors treat them, like they would be treated here. I can always work for a hospital, but the hours would be demanding, and I wouldn't get to spend as much time with Bo as I would like to". Lauren explained honestly.
"Understood. Hire whomever you find fit to work here once we have it ready. If you ever need anything else, do not hesitate to call me or Aife or Bo can let us know, to ask, and it will be yours". Queen Isabeau said standing to her feet.
"Thanks...thank you". Lauren choked out.
"Now if you have done what you needed to, I can give you a lift home". Queen Isabeau offered.
"No thank you. I have my car and I want to send out a few quick emails. The sooner I get started on transferring my patients over, the sooner I can go home, and hopefully Bo won't be too wigged out by the time I get there". Lauren explained.
"Is she ok? Queen Isabeau asked worriedly.
"She's ok. She's still dealing with all of this". Lauren said pointing back, and forth between them.
"I will stop by first thing in the morning". Queen Isabeau smiled.
"I would appreciate that, and I know Bo would love to see you". Lauren grinned. It would be really good for Bo to talk to her grandmother, and have Lauren there too.
"Then I will be there. Have a good rest of your day, and don't stay here too long". Queen Isabeau smiled making her way out the door.
"Thank you. See you tomorrow". Lauren smiled.
Lauren sat back in her chair and allowed herself to soak it all in. This was hers now, and not only that, she was going to get a much larger clinic. She had grown fond of most of her patients. Most of them were humans who were either in accidents, or sick with human diseases like she had been.
Just before she died, she longed to have more resources to help with her research, and it looked like she was going to get it. She wouldn't need to schedule a meeting with anyone to discuss why she needed thousands of dollars. From what she had seen of the Queen's impending plans for her castle, she wasn't worried about her backing out on saying to call or tell anyone of them if she needed anything.
The Doctor in Lauren was always on the surface. And thanks to both sides of her personality, she was now leading the life that she always wanted with someone she loved with her entire being. With her mind once again on Bo, even though it never left the Succubus, she logged on to her computer, and sent those emails. Sighing when she was done, she logged back off. Told the staff that she was leaving, and started her way back home.
Lauren was rushing home, and ran a few red lights. She knew Bo would be worrying out of her mind. She was also carrying the guilt of not telling Bo that she was sick in the first place. But she had to get out of that, if she was going to help her favorite patient come out of her own fears.
Pulling into the garage, she parked her car next to Bo's, and closed the garage door. She wouldn't be needing her car for the rest of the day. The rest of the day belonged to the both of them.
Lauren tiptoed into the house, knowing she had spent far too long at the lab. She turned her nose up to the scents coming from the kitchen. Her favorite foods? Bo was never a baker, but once she reached the dining room, it was set for two. A bottle of wine was chilling beside it.
"My, my Dr. Lewis, you lied to me". Bo cooed from behind Lauren who was still looking around the room. Candles circled around the table.
Catching her breath Lauren finally turned around, and saw Bo. She was beautiful and glowing. Lauren had missed her plate the entrées.
Bo wore a strapless black dress and her hair was pinned up. Her skin glowed with the help of the candles. The sight made Lauren's throat dry. When she was able to compose herself, she finally spoke.
"Bo. Bo I'm sorry. I had so much to do. I had a ton of emails to send. You will not believe what I have to tell you about my day". Lauren rambled.
"Shhhh. Have a seat and I will gladly listen". Bo said.
"Bo look at you, and look at me. I am not dressed like you are". Lauren said.
"You look beautiful as you are Lauren". Bo smiled softly.
"Thank you but still...". Lauren started.
"No buts". Bo said helping Lauren sit.
"Ok...but one but". Lauren said.
"Ok Dr. Just one". Bo laughed.
"How did you get the house so dark in the middle of the day? Lauren asked.
"I have skills and are not afraid of the dark are you? Bo asked.
"No. I don't think I am". Lauren smiled taking a glass of wine from Bo.
"Well you needn't be because I am going to light up your world like you have never seen before later Dr. Lewis". Bo said licking her lips when she said the word light.
"I am not scared of you Bo". Lauren smiled.
"You might not be, but I guarantee you will be screaming a lot. Oh and Dagny is spending the night with Kenzi". Bo winked.
"Ok but we'll see who makes who scream". Lauren laughed clinking their glasses together.
"Last one to finish her dinner has to devour the other one as dinner". Bo said blushing. She blushed more when Lauren put her fork down.
"I lose" Lauren said biting her lip.
