A/N: Hey everyone! So I managed to squeeze in some time to write this week so hopefully this chapter is better than the last one! I don't think it's going to be much longer until everyone gets what they want, if you know what I mean :) Thanks again for all the lovely reviews! I won't have time to update between now and school finishing but once I'm on holidays I'll try to update every week and see if I get this story finished before I go back to work next year!

Hope you enjoy! Sorry for any mistakes I make!

Chapter 7

Callie had been running around the hospital all day making sure everything was in place. In just under an hour Arizona would be here with 5 senior students who were interested in becoming surgeons. She wanted to make sure they had the best day, everything had to be perfect. There was no way she could disappoint Arizona. Or the kids. She was doing this for the kids.

"Okay you need to take a deep breath because you're stressing me out," Alex told her as he grabbed her shoulders to stop her. "Everything is going to be fine. They're high school kids. But you aren't really stressed about the kids, are you?"

Callie knew he was right. This was her chance to impress Arizona. Since the meddling Sofia incident, the two had interacted very few times. She didn't know if it was because it was actually awkward or if they were worried it was going to be awkward. But Sofia had been right, as much as she hated to admit it. Callie was attracted to Arizona but after Sofia had owned up to her about why she had done what she had done, Callie was worried she had scared the blonde off.

"Shut up Karev! This day could determine if these seniors actually go premed at college or if I ruin their dreams forever."

"What you mean is this is the first time you've spent time with Arizona where you actually have to talk since Sofia's failed attempt at matchmaker," Alex shot back.

"Fine, whatever, you're right. I still want things to go perfectly and I need everyone to do their jobs perfectly. It can't be any less than perfect," Callie said, the stress evident in her voice.

"Stop saying 'perfect'. You're giving me the jitters," Alex joked. When he saw Callie's eyebrows go down and slightly together, Alex knew his joke had the opposite effect he wanted. He liked seeing her like this though. It was a side he hadn't seen before. He was just glad Sofia had warned him about how wound up Callie was. Callie was scary when she wanted to be.

Sighing, Alex put his arm around Callie's shoulders and walked her to the entrance of the hospital. "Look, you've got them only going to three departments. Yours, mine and Shepard's. WE got this Callie. Arizona is going to be grateful and impressed enough that she may take you in a call room," Alex smirked.

"Go away," Callie giggled, blush creeping up her cheeks. "But thanks Alex. I appreciate it."

Alex laughed as he walked away. "Go get her tiger. Just keep it quiet! The on-call room walls are thinner than you think!"

Before she knew it, the thought of herself and Arizona in an on-call room was the only image in her head. She was going to kill Alex later for that. Shaking herself out of those thoughts, she went over her script one more time in her head. She knew as soon as she saw those ocean blue eyes, her mind would go blank. Everything in Callie's mind went blue as she pictured those eyes smiling at her.

"Calliope," Arizona greeted the brunette who had her back to the group, "how are you?"

Callie froze and turned around quickly to greet the blue-eyed beauty. "Hey Arizona. I'm great! How have you been? Are these our future doctors and nurses?"

"Better now. You look great," Arizona smiled. "And yes, they are. I think we're all very excited to see what today holds, am I right?"

The group of students all nodded their heads in agreement. Arizona turned and smiled back at Callie. All Callie could do was smile back. They stayed like that for longer than they should have, lost in each other's eyes and smiles.

"Um, Dr Robbins, should we go put our stuff somewhere," one of the students asked.

"Uh," Arizona answered, finally dragging her eyes away from the soulful brown ones in front of her, "yes, Dr Torres here has organised a great day for you. I'll be back just before 3 to collect you."

"You're not staying," Callie inquired, finding the news surprising.

"No. Have a great day though," Arizona answered happily before leaving.

Callie watched the blonde leave the hospital before she turned to her group of students. Was Arizona leaving because she didn't want to spend time her? Surely not. Callie knew that they'd had a moment. Again. It was like the air had grown so thick she couldn't even breathe. As soon as the blonde was out of sight, Callie turned around and smiled at the 5 high schoolers.

"Follow me," she instructed. "For today I have organised some rotations with our heads of departments for ortho, neuro and peds. You'll spend at least an hour and a half following each attending and ask any questions you can think of. Even if you think it is dumb. Dumb questions means you don't make dumb mistakes."

Sitting at her desk Arizona stared at her computer screen blankly. She thought back to that morning at the hospital. The moment she saw sweet Calliope a smile had plastered itself on her face. A smile that was so big it had hurt her cheeks and refused to leave. Arizona knew she had never known anyone quite as beautiful as the brunette. She had never been this infatuated with anyone either. Knowing if she sat here any longer her thoughts would never allow her to go back to work, Arizona got up, deciding to go and check in on classrooms around her school. It was the only way she was going to get Callie out of her mind.

Walking down the halls, Arizona smiled and greeted students as they made their way back to class. It was a thing of pride that Arizona knew almost every student by name. When she got the principal role it was her main goal. In her opinion, a good principal knew their students. The hallway emptied and Arizona could only see a few students still collecting their things from their lockers.

"Dr Robbins?" a voice called out from down the hall. "What are you doing here?"

It took Arizona a moment but soon the voice registered. Sofia Torres-Sloan. The daughter of the woman who had consumed her thoughts. The woman she was trying to not think about.

"Working. This is my school last I checked," Arizona joked as she got closer to the smaller brunette.

"I know that," Sofia laughed. "I just meant, aren't you meant to be at the hospital with those kids today?"

"Oh. Yeah. I figured I'd be cramping their style if I hung around all day. They will be more willing if I'm not looking over their shoulders," Arizona smiled.

"That's the only reason," Sofia enquired, knowing she might be pushing it too far.

"Do I need another reason," Arizona asked, slightly irritated but also curious as to what the girl meant.

"No," Sofia answered, shaking her head, "I just know Mama was looking forward to today. She was excited even."

And there it was. Arizona was sure it was coming but she had hoped Sofia would have dropped this by now.

"You need to get to class before you're late. You're already close to a suspension," Arizona told her before turning and walking away. A shocked Sofia was left standing there, her mouth slightly agape from the final statement her principal said before walking away. She knew that it was a touchy subject but she had definitely not expected that reaction at all. She thought that they had moved past the whole incident. Apparently she was wrong.

Walking into class Sofia's mind was still on her conversation with Arizona. She couldn't shake a feeling that she had made the blonde mad at her. She was feeling thankful that she didn't have tutoring today. Hopefully it meant that by the time they had their next session, Arizona had forgotten about today and it wouldn't be awkward or tense.

"You okay," Naomi asked her best friend, seeing the concentrated look at her face.

"Yeah. Just a weird conversation with Robbins. I don't think anyone is quite over my matchmaker blunder yet."

"To be fair it hasn't been that long. I didn't think she would have even let you continue tutoring."

"Okay you're probably right. I just thought we'd all moved past it though. I didn't realise I wasn't even allowed to mention Callie to Arizona at all," Sofia argued.

Before Naomi could respond, their English shot them a glare. They both apologised and got back to writing their assignment.

"I can't believe you brought up Callie," Naomi whispered when their teacher had made her way to the back of the room.

"I was surprised to see Robbins here today. She was taking those seniors to the hospital. The way Mama was freaking out this morning I assumed Robbins was going to be there all day."

"You need to get better at minding your own business," Naomi chuckled at her best friend.

"Shut up," Sofia smiled as they got back to work.

"What have you got," Callie asked her resident, snatching the chart out of his hands.

"Femur fracture and possible hip dislocation. Just waiting on films to confirm," the resident answered.

"Great. Go and check on my post ops," Callie instructed them. "Now!" She didn't even look up to see if they had left. After her interaction with Arizona, Callie had been in a bad mood. She had managed to push it down while she worked with the high school students but once she had passed them off to Karev, she allowed herself to wallow in her disappointment and anger.

She couldn't believe Arizona had left. Every time they had spoken, Arizona had made it seem like she was excited to be at the hospital. Excited to work with her. Maybe Callie was reading too much into things. She had a habit of doing that.

"What's got your knickers in a twist," Christina Yang asked, looking up from where she was listening to the patients heart.

"Nothing," Callie snapped. She knew as soon as the word came out of her mouth that Christina wasn't going to leave her alone.

"Yeah, seems like nothing," Christina replied. "This wouldn't have anything to do with a blonde principal who was supposed to spend the day here, would it?"

"How do you know about that," Callie asked, finally making eye contact with her colleague.

"Word travels fast around here. Besides, I heard Sofia and Karev talking about her one night. Plus we've never had high schoolers come and do work experience. I put two and two together," Christina informed her.

"Great. How about you mind your own business and focus on the patient then?"

"Fine but you can't go around biting everyone's head off because you didn't get to spend the day with your crush. Patient's heart is stable, page me if anything changes," Yang said before leaving the room.

As Teddy walked into the staffroom she was surprised to see her blonde best friend sitting and enjoying her lunch. All Arizona had spoken about for days was going the hospital for the day with the seniors. Teddy knew it was partly because Arizona missed surgery but mostly because a certain Latina worked at said hospital.

"Umm, what are you doing here? You should be spending the day with your hot doctor crush," Teddy said quietly as she sat down across from Arizona.

"Not you too," Arizona answered, rolling her eyes.

"What do you mean? Have you told someone else about your forbidden love," Teddy joked, holding her hands over her heart.

"What, no! And it's just a crush! I saw Sofia in the hallway and she asked me why I was here as well. Am I not allowed to make my own decisions now? Do I have to run my every decision through this weird committee you and Sofia seemed to have formed," Arizona huffed.

All Teddy could do was laugh at her. If Arizona didn't have feelings for Callie, there was no way she would be getting this upset about people bringing her up. Teddy knew her best friend and she knew that Arizona was falling hard and they hadn't even been on a date yet.

"Don't forget your mother. Barbara supports my hounding of you to ask Callie out. She said Callie was very beautiful and you should ask her before someone else does. She also told me to tell you to stop being so stubborn because you are just hurting yourself in this situation," Teddy countered before taking a bite of her sandwich.

Arizona spat out her drink in shock. "Oh my god, stop ratting me out to my mum! I wish you two would stop talking about me when I'm not there to defend myself!"

"We talk every week Arizona. She knows you aren't going to tell her what's going on," Teddy said matter-of-factly with a quick shrug of her shoulders.

"Yes and there's a very good reasons for why I don't tell her what's going on! If I ask Callie out will the two of you please get off my back about it?"

"Nothing would make me happier," Teddy smiled.

Arizona felt nervous as she walked into the hospital. She was going to do it. She was going to ask Callie out on a date. It didn't matter if Callie said no. Well, it did. Arizona really wanted her to say yes. She was sure she would get a yes. She was early to pick up the kids in hopes of getting the very hot Latina on her own. This wasn't something she wanted to do in public. She was certain Callie would appreciate that.

Spotting the mane of beautiful black hair standing next to the nurse's station. Arizona took a deep breath and made her way there. She rehearsed what she was going to say in her head.

"Calliope," Arizona said, tapping the brunette on the shoulder.

"Oh, hi Arizona," Callie said coldly, looking up from the chart in front of her. "The kids are with Dr Shepard on the neuro floor at the moment," she told Arizona, eyes going back to her chart.

"Great! Would you be able to show me how to get there?"

"Uh, no. I'm really busy at the moment. I can get an intern to take you down."

"You sure you can't have a five minute break to show me?"

"No Arizona, I can't. Unlike you I just can't drop my responsibilities when it suits me and leave. Now if you'll excuse me I have a consult I need to go do."

Arizona was shocked. Was Callie annoyed at her because she left this morning? She hadn't said she was going to stay and she didn't realise Callie wanted her to stay. What was she going to do now?

Sofia was sitting on the couch when she heard the front door slam. It was so loud and unexpected that Sofia jumped up slightly out of fright. She looked over her shoulder as Callie threw her handbag on the table, pull open the fridge door and then slammed it once she got out a bottle of water.

"Well you've had a good day," Sofia said sarcastically, "you always tell me not to take it out on the house."

"Don't Sofia," Callie warned her.

"Do you want to talk about it or would you prefer to keep taking it out on all the things on hinges?"

"Ugh," Callie groaned as she slammed another cupboard door. "I just thought that something was going to happen today and it didn't happen how I thought. I don't know why I'm this upset about it."

Sofia nodded her head slowly. She figured that this was because Arizona had returned to school instead of staying at the hospital all day. She just wasn't game enough to bring it up. Especially because Arizona had already gotten mad at her today for asking.

"Did something go wrong with a surgery or your research," Sofia asked, knowing that the answer was no.

"No, it wasn't. Everything there went fine. Everything with the high school kids went perfectly as well. They had a great time," Callie sighed.

"So, what's your problem then? I can't help you solve a problem if I don't know what it is."

"It's nothing I won't get over," Callie smiled, giving Sofia a kiss on the head.

"Love you Mama," Sofia smiled up at her mother. "Tomorrow will be a better day. I'll even cook dinner."

"That sounds great baby girl," Callie smiled as she joined Sofia on the couch.

Yawning, Sofia decided that it was time for bed. Standing up, she turned to Callie kissed her cheek.

"Dr Robbins said she didn't go to the hospital today because she didn't want the seniors to be like scared to ask questions or do things because she was there. Anyway, I'm going to bed. Night Ma."

"Night Mija," Callie answered back, a smile plastered to her face. Finally her bad mood was gone.
