Chapter 15

When they left to head to Miami to spend time with the Torres clan, Barbara hugged each of them tightly, unwilling to let them go. With tears in her eyes, she told them they need to visit again soon and that weekly phone calls were now a must. Daniel said his goodbyes and told Sofia that he would be sending her a fishing rod once she was back home.

Even though it was only a 4 hour flight to Miami, the trio were exhausted by the time they landed. Callie's dad messaged her before they took off to let them know he had been kept back but would send a car to pick them up. Callie was slightly relieved by this. She knew that her dad would have wanted to talk the whole way and she wasn't sure if she could hold a conversation right now. Once they were in the car, it didn't take her long until she was asleep, heading resting on Arizona's shoulder. Sofia was staring out the window as they made the 45 minute trip to her grandparent's house.

"You know she loves you more than anything right," Arizona asked.

"I know," Sofia answered as she continued staring out the window.

"I think you need to take it easy on her for a while. I know you're still annoyed at her but she's trying, Sof."

"I know," Sofia responded. Even though they had talked it out before leaving for Colorado, things had been a bit tense and awkward between Sofia and Callie.

"You know she loves you right," Sofia asked Arizona, finally pulling her gaze away from the window.

Arizona had figured out that Callie loved her, she didn't Sofia to tell her. She also knew that she loved Callie. Possibly more than she's loved anyone before. She found it impossible to take her eyes, or her hands, off her whenever she was around. Her mind always seemed to find a way to think about Callie when they weren't together.

"I know," Arizona smiled, squeezing Callie's leg.

"She won't tell you until you say it first," Sofia mused. "She's been burnt in the past by saying it too soon. I know she hasn't told you anything but yeah."

"She mentioned her ex when we had that fight before leaving. She didn't go into detail, but I get the idea that she wasn't very nice?"

"You have no idea," Sofia sighed. "Erica destroyed her," was all Sofia said before staring out the window again.

"Why are we going over a bridge," Arizona asked as she looked outside the window to see where they were.

"Abuelo and Abuela spend summers on Fisher Island. They own one of the resorts on the island and that's where they have their big Fourth of July party," Sofia answered.

"So the total opposite of Colorado then?"

"Oh yeah. The Torres family is on the opposite end of the spectrum. We're close with Abuelo and Tia Aria but not Abuela. It can get, awkward so don't feel like you have to talk when it's silent," Sofia advised Arizona.

"Okay, no nervous rambling then," Arizona joked.

"Definitely not. But the rooms are large and far away from each other so you guys can do, you know, and no one will hear at this place."

"Oh, uh, I, um, uh, why are you and," Arizona stumbled on her words as blush crept onto her cheeks.

"I'm 16, Arizona, I know what people in relationships do," Sofia chuckled, enjoying how awkward Arizona looked right now.

"Right," Arizona chuckled.

"Besides, I know you didn't do it at your parent's house and I think she's going to be, uh, wound up from the stress of being around Abuela," Sofia cheekily smiled.

"I don't want to talk about this anymore," Arizona laughed awkwardly, not sure how they got onto this topic.

When they got to the resort, they were escorted up to the top floor. When Arizona stepped out of the elevator, she was greeted by an extravagant entry way. There were large bouquets flowers on every table in sight. She felt like she had just stepped into a scene from an old-time movie. Looking left and right, Arizona could only see what looked like endless hallways. In front of them stood a marble staircase the split half-way up. Realising her mouth was slightly open from shock, she closed it and turned to look at Callie who seemed nervous. Reaching out, she grabbed her hand and squeezed. At least she wasn't the only one feeling this way.

Their bellboy started to move up the stairs and all three women followed him. Callie knew where she was going and led Arizona by the hand to their room. Sofia was taken to a room in the opposite direction as Arizona and Callie's. Arizona was amazed at all the people that had assisted them so far. They hadn't opened a single door, 4 people carried up their bags and one very nice woman spent the whole ride up to the apartment explaining the itinerary of events leading up to the 4th of July party. She was feeling very overwhelmed by the time they got to their room. She was definitely not in Colorado anymore.

"Mr and Mrs Torres have yet to return from their business. They will be here in time for dinner and I will come up and let you know when it is ready," one of the many maids informed the pair before leaving them alone.

"Are you okay? You've been so quiet," Callie said as she wrapped her arms around Arizona's waist from behind.

"I'm just processing all of this," Arizona answered, "I'm not used to maids and people doing things for me like carrying my bags up. And this isn't just a penthouse! This is like a house at the top of a hotel. Your hotel room has rooms!"

"It's a lot. It's not like this at the house. I mean, there's maids and helpers but not this many," Callie informed her as she kissed Arizona's neck.

"That feels good," Arizona moaned. "I just worry your parents won't think I'm good enough."

"Oh, you do not have to worry about that," Callie chuckled. "In my parent's eyes you will be too good for me when compared to my exes that they've met. Now, how about we go run a bath and just relax before dinner," Callie suggested.

"Mmm, that sounds good. I can have a quick nap while you bathe."

"Oh honey, the bath in there is big enough for us to not only be in there at the same time but we can participate in some stress relieving activities," Callie smirked as she pulled Arizona into the adjoining bathroom.

Once the bath was run, Callie lit some candles before they both got in. They sat at opposite ends of the tub, legs entangled as they talked and laughed, just enjoying each other's company. Neither could see what the other's legs were doing under the thick layer of bubbles that filled the tub. Arizona smirked at Callie as she ran her foot up Callie's leg, stopping just before she touched her centre. She watched as Callie's eyes closed in anticipation of the touch. When her eyes opened, they were darker and full of want. Before Arizona could react, Callie had sat up and pulled the blonde into her lap, water splashing over the edge.

"Calliope," Arizona squealed as Callie leant back with the blonde in her lap.

"Yes," Callie husked back, her hands reaching around the back of Arizona's head and pulling her close so that their foreheads were touching.

"There's water all over the floor now," Arizona replied softly.

"So? We'll just have to be careful when we get out. Thanks for coming and meeting my parents."

Arizona just nodded as she felt Callie's hands run up her back. Her breathing become laboured as she felt her want for Callie increase. She moaned softly as Callie started placing kisses along her collarbone and up her jaw line.

"Let me show you how thankful I am," Callie whispered in Arizona's ear before sucking on her pressure point right under it. Callie smiled as Arizona started to grind down on her. She knew exactly where to kiss to get the blonde riled up. Arizona shivered as her body became covered in goosebumps from the touch of Callie's lips. The body rubbed together as their lips connected, their hands holding each other as close as possible. Callie licked down Arizona's neck and took one of her nipples in her mouth. Her tongue flicked around as she sucked on the soft flesh.

As Arizona arched her back at Callie's touch, Callie moved her hand down creamy skin and started to apply pressure on her clit. She loved watched how the blonde's face contorted with pleasure. She loved how it was her that caused the blonde to feel as good as she did.

"Calliope," Arizona gasped, "I need you inside."

Smiling, Callie obliged the request and slid two fingers deep inside Arizona. She was rewarded with Arizona moaning loudly and throwing her head back. Arizona braced her hands on Callie's shoulders as she started to move her hips up and down Callie's fingers.

"I'm so close," Arizona said quietly, her breathing ragged.

"Miss Torres, dinner will be ready soon," a voice called out after knocking on the door.

"Thank you, Louisa, we will be down soon," Callie called out in response, her eyes never leaving Arizona.

"You're not stopping are you," Arizona asked before kissing Callie.

"God no," Callie answered as she sped up her movements inside Arizona. "We're not going anywhere until you cum."

"Calliope Iphegenia Torres," Carlos said excitedly when his daughter walked into the room.

"Daddy," Callie said happily, running over to her father to hug him. "You look good!"

"Not as good as you my beautiful daughter! Now where is my granddaughter? I have months of spoiling to make up for."

"I'm sure she will be down in a moment. You know how teenagers are," Callie joked.

Before Carlos could respond, Sofia walked into the room and spotted her grandfather with her mother. "Abeulo," she called out as she ran past Arizona into outstretched arms.

"Neita, eres tan grande ahora," Carlos smiled. (Neita you are so big now!)

"Tengo dieciseis ahora casi una adulta," Sofia smiled. (I'm sixteen now, almost an adult)

"Siempre seras mi nina," Carlos chuckled. "Tu madre va a presenter a su amiga?" (You will always be my little girl. Is your mother going to introduce her friend?)

Carlos' question snapped Callie out of the moment she was sharing with Sofia and her father. She looked over to find a very confused and awkward looking Arizona taking in her surroundings. She felt bad because she knew Arizona didn't understand a lot of Spanish. She walked over to her girlfriend and put her arm around Arizona's waist, giving her a reassuring smile.

"Daddy, this is Arizona Robbins, my girlfriend," Callie said happily as she introduced her girlfriend to her father.

"It's nice to finally meet you sir. I've heard a lot about you," Arizona smiled as she held out her hand. She waited nervously as Carlos raised his eyebrows, examining the blonde before turning to his granddaughter.

"Te gusta su Nieta?" (Do you like her, granddaughter?)

"Si. Lo hago mucho Abuelo," Sofia nodded. "Ella ha sido buena para Mama." (Yes I do, Abuelo, a lot. She has been good for Mama.)

"Asi que deberia darle una oportunidad?" (So I should give her a chance?)

"Si," Sofia nodded. "Ella no es nada como las otras. Arizona pasa tiempo conmigo." (Yes. She is nothing like the others. She spends time with me.)

"No mas espanol," Callie told Sofia and Carlos, giving them a look that could kill. "Speak in English."

"It's nice to meet you too Arizona," Carlos find acknowledging the blonde and shaking her hand back. "My wife will be joining us in a moment. She had a phone call she just had to make before dinner. Come and sit down."

Sofia skipped after her grandfather who moved into the dining room. Callie and Arizona followed. Arizona was in awe of the room she walked into. She looked around the room and was sure she had never been anywhere so grand before.

"They were talking about me before, weren't they?" Arizona asked nervously.

"Yes," Callie nodded. "My father was asking Sofia if she liked you. She only said nice things, you have nothing to worry about," Callie whispered. "If Sofia likes you, so will daddy."

"Okay," Arizona whispered back, unconvinced.

The four sat down at the dinner table together. Carlos at the head of the table, Sofia to his right, Callie to his left and Arizona next to Callie. The maids brought them drinks as they chatted away, Carlos asking Arizona questions as he attempted to get to know the blonde. They enjoyed each other's company as Sofia told her grandfather about how well she had done in school and how Arizona had helped her. They then moved onto stories of Callie's childhood as they waited Lucia to join them for dinner.

"Well Arizona, it seems that you make these two very happy," Carlos smiled.

"However happy I make them, they make me even happier," Arizona smiled as she put her hand on top of Callie's.

"Sorry for my tardiness," a voice broke through the room. They all turned their heads to find Lucia standing in the doorway. Her dark hair pulled back in a tight bun, red lipstick on her lips with gold jewellery around her neck and on her fingers. Her black suit was pressed and neat, her red blouse tucked in. As soon as Callie realised her mother was there, she pulled her hands out from under Arizona's and sat up straighter. Arizona watched as Sofia slunk back into her chair slightly.

"Hello Calliope, Sofia. It's good to see you both. It's been a while."

"Hello mother," Callie responded with a tight smile. "Say hello to your Abuela."

"Hola Abuela," Sofia said softly, giving her grandmother a quick smile before looking back at the napkin in front of her.

"Who is our guest you so rudely haven't introduced to me," Lucia asked as she sat down at the opposite end to her husband.

"This is Arizona Robbins," Carlos smiled. "Calliope and Sofia have been filling me in on what they have been up to this last year."

"Uh yes, Calliope's… friend," Lucia said with pursed lips. "Did you do well in school this year, Sofia?"

"Si, Abuela. I got A's in all my subjects. Near perfect scores on my last exams. Arizona helped me study," Sofia smiled at the blonde.

"Good to hear. You need to do well in school so you can go to a good college. Isn't that right?"

"That's the goal, Abuela."

Silence fell over the table. Before Lucia joined them the energy had been light and fun, the four of them getting along. As soon as the older woman entered the room, Arizona felt everyone tense up. She remembered that Callie's family had trouble accepting her sexuality but she though they had moved past that. Even Sofia, who never let anything get to her, was able to charm anyone, seem stiff and uncomfortable. The rest of the night went by slowly. Conversation did not come easy once the older woman joined them. Arizona had noticed that all the small touches that they usually did when together, had stopped. Every time Arizona had tried to touch Callie's hand or leg, Callie had flinched or moved away slightly.

"So that got weird," Arizona said to Callie as they got ready for bed.

"What do you mean," Callie chuckled as she slid under the covers. "I thought it went really well."

"It did. Until your mother turned up. Everyone became so tense and you wouldn't touch me, let alone look at me," Arizona told Callie as she got into be next to her. "I thought you said that they got over everything after Sofia was born?"

"They did," Callie sighed. "My dad is far more accepting than my mother. She still isn't used to me bringing home girlfriends."

"You let her call me your friend."

"I know. It's just easier than fighting with her. We're only here for a week and then we can go back to our lives. I promise. And once we're home, I'll spend hours ravishing your body," Callie smiled as she rolled on top of Arizona.

"Promise," Arizona smiled as they kissed.

"Oh, I promise," Callie said as they kissed more passionately. "Now, Torres' don't run in the morning, however, tomorrow my sister gets here, and you are going to need all your energy to put up with her interrogations."

"I can't wait," Arizona said softly before placing one last kiss on Callie's lips. Callie rolled off Arizona and rested her head on the blonde's chest. It wasn't long before both of them were in a deep sleep.

The next morning, Arizona woke up and lazily rolled over, expecting to find a warm body to cuddle up to. Her hand reached out to find a cold and empty space. She opened one eye to check that Callie hadn't contorted her body in some strange way and was just out of reach. When she saw that the bed was indeed empty, she sat up and rubbed her eyes. Pulling the covers back, she got out of bed and headed downstairs to find her brunette lover. As she made her way down the stairs, a delectable smell filled her senses. She followed the scent to the kitchen to find Callie, still in her pyjamas, cooking them breakfast.

"Aren't you going to put someone out of a job if you do that," Arizona joked as she joined Callie in the kitchen. When she reached her lover, she ran her fingertips across Callie's shoulder blades before stopping next to her.

"I gave them a break this morning. They've already fed my parents who are out for the morning. I knew you were exhausted and Sofia, well, I knew she wouldn't wake much before lunch," Callie smiled as she flipped the pancake in the pan.

"You spoil me," Arizona swooned, placing a quick peck on Callie's cheek.

"As I should," Callie smiled. "How about a proper good morning kiss."

Arizona squealed as Callie pulled her in close and captured her lips with her own. Their tongues slowly sought entrance into the other's mouth before dancing together. Arizona's hands slid up Callie's arms, around her neck and into thick locks, gripping loosely and pulling them even closer together as they deepened their kiss.

"That's better," Callie smiled, breaking away from Arizona to focus back on cooking pancakes. "How did you sleep?"

"Amazingly. That bed is insanely comfortable. It's like sleeping on a cloud."

"Maybe later we can test out how bouncy it is," Callie suggested with a waggle of her eyebrows. "I think you need to taste test this one."

Opening her mouth with a smile, Arizona let Callie feed her a piece of the warm pancake. She closed her lips around Callie's fingers and sucked on them slightly, eyes closed. A small moan escaped her mouth as Callie removed her fingers.

"Syrup would make them better," Arizona teased as she slowly opened her eyes to find Callie staring at her. She could tell the Latina was turned on by the darker shade that her eyes had now become.

"I think we have syrup," Callie smirked as she went to the fridge to get the maple syrup. Once she had the bottle in her hand, she grabbed another piece of pancake and held it up to Arizona's mouth. Confused, Arizona opened her mouth and accept the piece of food. With a glint of mischief in her eye, Callie grabbed the bottle and poured some of syrup into Arizona's mouth.

"Oh my god, Calliope," Arizona giggled as syrup dripped down her mouth, neck and chest. "You got it all over me!"

"Here, I'll clean you up." Before Arizona could respond or do anything, Callie's tongue was licking up the syrup that was around Arizona's lips.

Once she had licked up the sticky liquid from Arizona's face, her tongue followed the trail of the sticky substance down Arizona's jaw and neckline. She softly sucked and nipped at the sweet skin. Arizona moaned at the contact, enjoying what Callie's mouth and tongue were currently doing. Callie's rested on Arizona's hips, holding her between Callie and the kitchen bench. Once she was satisfied that there was no more syrup on her neck, Callie moved her tongue slowly over Arizona's collarbones, sucking and licking up the syrup as she made her way down Arizona's chest. She slowly trailed her tongue over the skin that was showing. One hand slowly made its way from its hold on Arizona's hip to cup and squeeze her breast. Callie moved her mouth to the breast that wasn't being fondled and sucked a pert nipple through Arizona's shirt.

"Callie," Arizona said breathlessly, "last time we did this in your kitchen, Sofia walked in on us."

"I better be quick then," Callie husked, flipping Arizona so her back was pressed against the taller woman's front. Arizona squealed at the quick manoeuvre as Callie trapped her between her body and the bench. One hand massaged her breast while the other slid over her ass and slipped into pants. Suddenly, the air around them became thick as Arizona could feel Callie's fingers moving closer to where she needed them. She was sure she was dripping down her leg with want.

Moving back slightly, Callie pushed Arizona's head down and forced her legs apart with her own. Arizona wiggled her butt back slightly, allowing her legs to open further for Callie. With a smile on her face, Callie pulled down Arizona's pants and gave her ass a few light smacks. Each one resulting in a small moan from Arizona. Callie rubbed her hand over Arizona's tight ass before letting her fingers start exploring the wetness between Arizona's legs.

As her fingers reached Arizona's clit, Arizona let out a tight gasp, her head falling forward. Callie smiled at the movement and pressed her fingers harder and rubbed Arizona's clit faster. After rubbing a few circles around Arizona's clit, Callie moved her fingers back and slowly inserted two fingers inside Arizona. Slowly, she started to move them in and out, making sure that she was as deep as she could go before pulling out. Arizona reached out to try and grab onto something, anything as pleasure started to wash over her body.

"Ssssh," Callie whispered into Arizona's ear when she accidentally knocked over some pots and they made a loud clang as they fell to the ground. Arizona couldn't even manage a nod of her head as Callie sped up her ministrations of Arizona's tight, wet passage. Feeling her orgasm build in the pit of her stomach, Arizona pushed back as Callie continued to fuck her from behind. A loud moan ripped from Arizona's throat, indicating to Callie that she was close to her orgasm taking over her body. Callie removed her hand from Arizona's breast and used it to rub hard circles on Arizona's clit.

"Oh shit," Arizona moaned as she body spasmed and her orgasm sent shock waves throughout her whole body. Her arms and legs shook, struggling to hold her up as wave after wave of pleasure took over her body. She rested her head on the bench as Callie held her up, her fingers gently bringing Arizona down from her high.

Once Arizona's breathing returned to normal, Callie removed her fingers and licked them clean. She then pulled Arizona's pants up for her. She watched as Arizona slowly opened her eyes, a big smile plastered on her face. She looked absolutely radiant as she glowed from her orgasm, Callie had never seen such a beautiful sight before.

"You should go shower before anyone walks in here and sees you recovering from your orgasm," Callie smirked as she placed a kiss on Arizona's temple.

"That. Was. Amazing," Arizona said breathlessly. "What did I do to deserve that?"
"You're amazing and have to deal with my whole family," Callie joked. "Now, go get your cute butt in the shower. You smell like sex."

Sofia managed to wake up in time to get ready for lunch. Her Aunt Aria arriving just after she had gotten out of the shower. She quickly got ready and joined the rest of her family downstairs. Lucia was unable to join them for lunch as she had been called to meeting for some fundraiser she was helping organise. It was a relief to Sofia, dinner the night before had been slightly hostile. With only Aria and Abeulo there, she knew they would have a good time.

She had no idea why her Abuela had a problem with her mother's relationship with Arizona. This was the first time in years that Callie looked happy and actually was. Why couldn't Abuela see that? Did she want to ruin everything? It wasn't hard to see this was the best thing that had happened to them in a while. Sofia tried to focus on the positives happening at the table. With a deep breath, Sofia pushed those thoughts out of her head and mentally re-joined the conversation happening in front of her.

"So, Arizona, how did you meet our dear Calliope," Aria asked as they ate lunch.

"Sofia introduced us," Arizona smiled at the young girl as she grabbed Callie's hand. "I'm the principal at Sofia's school and also her teacher for one of her subjects. I saw potential in Sofia and offered to tutor her privately. It didn't take long to meet Callie after that."

"They resisted each other for a long time," Sofia added.

"Yes, but someone tried to intervene," Carlos winked at Sofia.

"Yes well, someone was smarter than them and could see what they tried to deny," Sofia added, smiling knowingly at her Abuelo.

"How long after meeting did you start dating," Aria asked, confused by Sofia and Carlos.

"Too long," Arizona answered. "But we're together now and I couldn't be happier. Callie and Sofia have been a blessing."

"It's nice to see," Aria noted. "Not everyone could put up with Sofia."

"Hey," Sofia laughed at her aunt. "It's not my fault they can't handle a child."

"Oh no," Callie finally spoke up, laughing. "You were the devil, not a child. It didn't matter who I brought home; she made their lives hell."

"Not Arizona's," Sofia quickly added, smiling at the blonde.

Arizona looked up from her plate and looked over to Sofia who was smiling lovingly at her. She then turned her head to Callie who was also smiling at her. She could tell that three words were loaded on Callie's tongue ready to come out at warp speed the moment Arizona said them. She couldn't help but feel the love that filled the room in that very moment. She could feel the eyes of Aria and Carlos watching them, but she didn't dare break the contact she had with Callie. Leaning over, she placed a quick, soft kiss on Callie's cheek.

"I remember one-time Callie called me in absolute tears that her date had broken up with her because Sofia had drawn all over his car in sharpie," Aria laughed at the memory. "I don't think she was older than like 7."

"You didn't," Arizona chuckled as she spoke to the younger girl.

"I honestly don't remember," Sofia smiled as she took a bite of her salad.

"Or the time Sofia pretended to see dead people when you started dating that hippie girl," Carlos added, laughing.

"None of them were nice," Sofia defended herself.

"Some of them were nice," Callie argued. "You just didn't like sharing my time or love."

"They were nice to you, not me. I didn't exist to some of them."

"That's not true," Callie argued.

"It is," Sofia argued back, "you were just too smitten to notice."

"So I should be thankful that the only thing Sofia did was try and set us up," Arizona joked.

"Very," Carlos answered quickly. "My little neita is as stubborn as her mother and when she makes up her mind about something, there is no stopping her."

Over the next two days, Callie, Arizona and Sofia had spent all of their time with the Torres family. As it got closer to the Fourth of July, more and more people arrived to stay at the Torres home. There had been barbeques, volleyball games, beach days and dinners. It was a time full of family, love and laughter. At each event, Lucia would introduce Arizona as Callie's friend. Even though everyone knew that the two were together, no one corrected the older woman. Even Arizona kept her mouth closed, as much as it was getting to her. She wasn't ready to turn Callie's family against her and cause a scene.

After having lunch with everyone, Arizona was starting to let the lack of acknowledgment of their relationship get to her. She could feel Callie pulling away from her. They had spent the whole day away from each other and she missed her girlfriend. They hadn't held hands, kissed or even touched each other in public for two days. Arizona felt as though Callie was pushing her away, that Callie didn't want to be with her anymore. They had tiptoed around the issue even though Callie knew Arizona wanted to talk about it.

They were getting ready for the party that night in their room. It was filled with awkward, tense silence as the two danced around the topic and each other. Finally having enough of not talking or even touching her girlfriend, Arizona finally spoke up. She didn't want to spend another night pretending they weren't together.

"I haven't hidden my sexuality since I was 16, Calliope. I don't want to hide our relationship from anyone while we are here. I want to be able to hold your hand and kiss you if I want," Arizona pleaded.

Callie sighed. She knew this was coming. She could feel how tense Arizona had been all day and that a fight was brewing.

"Not everyone's families are as accepting as yours, Arizona. Just like how your dad didn't want us sleeping in the same rooms, my mother doesn't like me showing displays of affection in public around her friends."

"So, while we're here I'm just your friend? You want me to just pretend that we aren't in a relationship?"

"Yes. No, only at the party and when we have guests over," Callie argued.

"You really want me to pretend to be someone else and be okay with it? I thought I came here to meet your family. I thought I was important enough that you wanted your family to know me?"

"I do and you are, Arizona! Besides Sofia, you are the most important person in my life!"

"And yet you want to hide me. Why am I even here Calliope?"

"Because, I want you to be a part of my life. Every single part of my life," Callie answered.

"Then let me be a part of it otherwise I may as well just go home! I can pack my things and be on the next plane out," Arizona said, tears now streaming down her face.

"Arizona," Callie pleaded, "please don't do this."

"What's the point, Callie," Arizona sniffled as she grabbed her clothes and went to leave.

"No," Callie demanded as she quickly ran to the doorway to stop Arizona from being able to leave. "I'll talk to my mother about this but please don't leave. I need you."

Listening to Callie's pleas, Arizona could hear the desperation in her voice. It softened her to know that Callie didn't want her to leave, that she did want Arizona around. She was still angry at how their time had gone so far and she was still angry at Callie.

"Fine. But I'm still so mad, at you, and I just need a minute to be mad. I'll get ready in one of the other rooms," Arizona informed her before pushing past Callie and storming off down to one of the spare rooms.

Sofia had been on her way to get ready with her mother and Arizona when she heard them fighting. She had her ear to the door listening at how upset Arizona was. She knew she shouldn't be listening, but she couldn't stop herself. Hearing Arizona say she wanted to leave; Sofia retreated back to her room. She didn't want Arizona to leave. She didn't want them to break up, but she understood why Arizona was feeling the way she was.

Back in her room, Sofia thought back to the last three days as she got ready. She had watched Callie pull away from Arizona slowly until anyone would believe they were just friends. It hadn't happened all at once, just little things stopped every time people were around. The little kisses they would share when they smiled or re-joined after being separated in social situations were the first thing to go. Then it was the hand holding whenever they were near or the light arm touches. Now they stood inches apart, not wanting to let on how close they really were. From across the room they looked like very good friends. Standing close but not close enough to touch or give off vibes that they were together. Sofia knew it was because Lucia was in the room and she had made it clear that she was not going to acknowledge their relationship.

Anger started to boil deep in Sofia. Anger mixed with sadness.

Standing next to her Abuela, surrounded by older people that she didn't know, Sofia squeezed her fists hard as she was subjected to yet another bragging session about how well she was doing in school. Almost perfect scores, on track for pre-med at an Ivy-league college. She listened as Lucia boasted and how it was all thanks to Callie's friend Arizona who had taken her under her wing for the semester. Friend. She made sure to put emphasis on that word every time it left her mouth.

"Girlfriend," Sofia interrupted her grandmother.

"Excuse me," Lucia asked, appalled that Sofia had interrupted her.

"I said, girlfriend. Arizona isn't Mama's friend, she is her girlfriend," Sofia said confidently, refusing to break eye contact with Lucia.

"You will watch yourself and show me some respect," Lucia demanded.

"I will show you respect when you show Mama and Arizona's relationship some respect," Sofia argued.

"Como te atreves," Lucia hissed. (How dare you.)

"You have spent every second we have been here pretending that their relationship doesn't exist, and I won't stand for it," Sofia replied adamantly.

"Why would I acknowledge a relationship that isn't going to last. Nosotras sabemos como es Calliope. Only choosing unsuitable partners." (We know what Calliope is like.)

"Arizona no es como los demas," Sofia spat, her voice quivering with anger. "You would know that if you spent a fraction of the time getting to know her that you spent being rude to her." (Arizona is not like the others.)

"Ella solo estra con Calliope por su dinero," Lucia said angrily, shooting a glare to Arizona. (She's only with Calliope for her money.)

"Don't talk about her that way."

"I am not having this conversation with a child. Go to your room until you learn some respect," Lucia demanded.

"No quiero estar cerca de ti de todos modos," Sofia spat at grandmother before storming off. (I don't want to be around you anyway).

Arizona and Callie become aware of the hostile situation happening across the room at the mention of Arizona's name. They could see the anger written on both Sofia and Lucia's faces as they exchanged words.

"What are they saying," Arizona asked Callie as a look of shock appeared on her face. When Callie didn't answer, she looked to Carlos who also seemed to be shocked at the fight unravelling before them. Looking around the room she could see that everyone was trying to look as if they weren't listening to the two Latinas fight. "Calliope," Arizona said softly as she saw tears brimming in Callie's eyes.

The two women watched as Lucia composed herself, everyone staring and whispering at the scene that had just unfolded. Arizona reached out for Callie's hand as the eyes started to move to the two of them. Callie squeezed her hand, trying to reassure her as Lucia walked over to where Arizona and Callie were standing with Carlos.

"A perfectly nice party ruined. Mira lo que has hecho," Lucia said angrily to Arizona and Callie. (Look what you have done.)

"Lucia ya es sufciente," Carlos interjected. (Lucia, that's enough).

"I didn't do this, Mother, you did," Callie finally said.

"We've just been trying to enjoy this lovely party," Arizona added. "We didn't try to cause any issues."

"I haven't done anything. You're the one who paraded around here with partner after partner who used you, who was beneath us and you just expect me to accept your newest conquest," Lucia argued, now ignoring Arizona.

"Do not talk about Arizona that way," Callie demanded, finally looking up at her mother.

"I'm going to go and check on Sofia," Arizona whispered to Callie. She did not want to bear witness to an attack on her character based on previous partners of Callie's. It was breaking her heart to sit there and listen to the nasty things Lucia was saying about her and Callie. It was better if she let them to talk it out. Her presence seemed to make things worse.

"Lucia, you need to walk away before you ruin your relationship with your daughter. Again," Carlos warned.

"You mean to tell me she isn't after your money, just like Erica or god forbid that horrible George that you married?"

"She didn't even know about the money until we got here. Do you not think I have learnt from past mistakes? You never could accept my choices."

"You want me to accept you? How about you choose to be with one of the lovely men that I have tried to many occasions to set you up with? When is this phase going to be over?"

"Oh my god," Callie chuckled. "You said that you could still love me even if I was with a woman. I thought we were past this?"

"I thought it was just a phase! A mental breakdown of sorts and you would come to your sense," Lucia hissed at her daughter.

"Arizona is nothing like them," Carlos added, defending his daughter and her partner. "You need to stop now Lucia, we have guests. Arizona being one of them. This is a conversation to be had in private. You are embarrassing Calliope, Arizona and myself."

"So, you're going to side with them," Lucia spat.

"I am protecting my daughter and her lovely partner," Carlos corrected her. "I will not stand for anyone insulting my children."

"Fine," Lucia breathed out before leaving them.

Arizona went to straight up to Sofia's room to check on her. She knocked and opened the door to find that Sofia was nowhere to be seen. She called out her name and after not receiving a response, she left the room to look elsewhere. As she walked downstairs, avoiding the room where everyone was discussing her morals, she headed outside. Not entirely sure that Sofia would be where she thought she was, Arizona took a chance and headed down to the water's edge. Looking ahead she saw a figure sitting on a swing, hunched over and swinging slightly.

"I thought I'd find you here," Arizona sweetly as she approached the girl. "I went to your room and you weren't there."

Sofia watched as Arizona sat down in the swing next to her. She had no idea what to say. She was angry and sad and embarrassed. Arizona did nothing to deserve the treatment she had received from her family. Well, from her Abuela.

"I couldn't be in that house anymore," Sofia replied. "I was just too angry. I hate her!"

"You don't hate her. Hate is a very strong word."

"The things she said about you, about Mama. I do hate her!"

"You hate what she said and did, not her."

"She doesn't even know you! Abuela hasn't bothered herself to get to know to you, to see how amazing you are and how different you are to the others," Sofia vented angrily. "You're nothing like them. You care about us."

"I do," Arizona said sweetly. "I care about you both a lot and so does your Abuela. This is just her way of showing it. Her way of protecting you both."

"Yeah well, she picked a horrible way of going about it," Sofia argued.

"I don't disagree," Arizona chuckled.

"Nothing she said was true. You have done nothing to deserve that," Sofia smiled sympathetically, her eyes moving away from Arizona to the person who was now standing behind them. "Thanks for checking on me. I'm going to bed. I think someone else needs you now."

Turning around, Arizona found that Callie had joined them. With the help of the light from the full moon, Arizona could see the glistening of tears sliding down Callie's cheeks. The look in Callie's eyes told Arizona that she was barely holding onto the emotions that she was trying to contain. It made Arizona wonder what else had been said once she left the room.

"Calliope," Arizona said softly as she got up and hugged her girlfriend. Once Callie was safely wrapped up in Arizona's arms, she sobbed, finally letting them go. She had tried so hard to hold it together, to not let her mother win.

"Let's go to bed," Arizona whispered before leading Callie back to the house.

The walk back to their room was silent. Callie had managed to stop crying but wouldn't let go of Arizona. Their hands were tangled together tightly. Arizona's thumb rubbed lightly over Callie's fingers, trying to reassure Callie as they walked. Once they made it into the room, Arizona sat Callie down on the bed and knelt in front of her.

"Baby, why are you so upset? Why are you crying?" Arizona asked. She hoped that Callie had calmed down enough to tell her what was wrong. It broke her heart to see Callie so upset. Especially seeing that the hurt was caused by someone who was supposed to protect her, someone that Arizona couldn't protect her from. Never before had Arizona met someone who loved as fiercely as Callie did.

Callie didn't answer, she just put her hands over her eyes as she started crying again. It wasn't that she didn't want to tell Arizona. She just wasn't sure how to say the words. The way her mother looked at her was engrained in her memory. It continued to pop into her thoughts. Lucia's words swirling around in Callie's head like a violent storm. She didn't know how much more she could take.

Looking down at Arizona, Callie grabbed her hands, hoping the move would ground her, settle her.

"I just… She said… I don't," Callie started to say, unable to finish a single thought. Anger started to bubble inside her. "I know I don't have the best past, but I thought we were past that! Like, she took us in and said she loved us."

Arizona watched as Callie's face went from totally heartbroken to full of anger. She listened as Callie tried to articulate what had happened but couldn't quite find the words. The next thing she knew, Callie was pacing around the room, ranting in Spanish that was so fast Arizona couldn't pick up any of the words. It took her a few minutes before she started talking in English again, but Arizona could see that her anger hadn't dissipated.

"Mothers are supposed to love their kids, no matter what. Mothers are the ones that accept you regardless oy anything," Callie said angrily. She stopped next to their dresser; her hands clenched in tight fists as she took deep breaths. They were meant to calm her but for some reason the breaths only served to fuel her anger further.

"Why can't she accept me," Callie yelled as her arms flew out and pushed everything that was on the dresser to the ground. Her chest was heaving with anger, her breaths short as she felt herself lose control. "Why doesn't she love me," Callie asked again as she walked to the opposite side of the room, throwing a standing lamp to the ground.

Arizona watched on in shock as Callie set to destroying their room. She watched as Callie picked up anything she could and throw it across the room. It took her a moment to comprehend what Callie was doing. She had thrown anything breakable against the wall. Yelling about how her mother couldn't accept her. As Callie got near her, Arizona stood up and wrapped her arms around her girlfriend.

"Ssshhh, Calliope, calm down," Arizona cooed, trying to calm Callie down.

"Let go of me," Callie yelled as she thrashed in Arizona's arms. "Let me go!"

"No, I'm not letting you go."

"Get your hands off me!"

"No! I won't let you go!"

"Just leave me alone!"

"I've got you," Arizona whispered into Callie's ear. "I'm not going anywhere. I accept you. Sofia accepts you."

"My Madre is supposed to love and accept me. Why won't she love and accept me," Callie repeated a she broke down into sobs.

Arizona held on tighter as the two of them slumped down onto the floor. Callie's body shuddering with each sob. As they hit the floor, Arizona pulled Callie in close, her head resting against the blonde's chest. Arizona stroked the dark thick hair as she soothed the devastated woman currently hugging her tightly.

Feeling Callie's breathing even out, Arizona released the breath the she didn't know she had been holding, relieved that Callie had finally fallen asleep. She gave her a kiss on the head and moved raven hair out of her face.

"I accept you Calliope," she whispered, "I love you."

Hearing movement around the room brought Arizona out of her slumber. As she came to, she felt the fluffy pillows and warmth of the duvet surround her. This was definitely not where she had fallen asleep. Last she remembered she was on the floor, leaning against the bed with Callie in her lap. Callie. Slowly she opened her eyes to find Callie setting up breakfast for them.

"What," Arizona asked sleepily.

At the sound of the drowsy voice, Callie walked over to the bed and sat next to Arizona.

"Morning," Callie said softly giving her a quick kiss on the top of her head. "I woke up a few hours after we fell asleep and figured we'd be more comfortable in bed, so I moved us to the bed."

"Mmm, thank you," Arizona smiled.

"I want to go home, Arizona. Can we go home?"

"Let's go home," Arizona answered, hand resting on Callie's cheek.

"Thank you," Callie smiled before leaning down and kissing her on the lips. "Now come and eat breakfast before we break the bad news to Sofia and Daddy."
