"Hanakotoba is the Japanese language of flowers," Rose said, her eyes shining brightly as she helped Marinette assemble her bouquet. "It's not as well known as ikebana," Marinette gave her friend a puzzled look. "Japanese flower arranging," Rose added cheerfully. "This is such a cute message for your girlfriend!"
"Thanks Rose," Marinette said as she continued to assemble her bouquet, a slight blush on her cheeks. "I wanted it to be something special for Kagami."
" I know that she'll love it!" Rose gushed and Marinette blushed harder. "It's a gift from the heart!"
"Let's see...white Anemone to show that I am sincere in my feelings," Marinette said as she picked up the white flower. Then she picked up a bright red carnation. "A Carnation for love and fascination." Rose was nodding and Marinette continued. "A red Carmilla to show that I am in love with her. And tied together into a single bouquet."
"It's beautiful Marinette! I'm sure that she'll love it!" Rose gushed and Marinette's face fell.
"Are you sure that it's enough flowers? And what if she doesn't read the message right? And what if-"
"It's not about how many flowers there are. It's about the message that they send," Rose cut in before Marinette could get carried away. "It's a message from the heart. A message in a language you learned just for her. What could be sweeter?"
"But it's Kagami and I don't want to get it wrong and she's the first girl that I've ever been attracted to and-"
"Marinette," Rose said calmly. "Do you remember how you used to be about Adrien in Collège Françoise Dupont?"
Marinette blushed as she remembered EXACTLY how she had been with Adrien. So many stupid, over-complicated plans. So many over the top ideas. So much panicking. And all for a relationship that didn't work out anyway. They were better as friends anyway.
She smiled.
"You're right Rose!" Marinette said, picking up her flowers. She turned and hugged the smaller girl. "Thank you Rose. Thank you!"
"You're welcome!" Rose said cheerfully. "Now go forth and let true love be your guide!"
Marinette smiled and walked out the room, bouquet in hand and her message clear.
