Welcome back! Thank you so much for your reviews and thoughts on the last chapter. They mean the world to me. Love ya'll!
Tris blinks as she wakes, she grins when she starts to recall the night before. Never had she had such a wild satisfying night, their chemistry had been unbelievable.
"Ummmmm, What time is it?" Tobias groans as he moves his arms to pull Tris to him and she glances over at the red numbers of his alarm clock on the bedside table.
"It's just after 7" Tris giggles as he presses kisses to her belly.
Tris pries herself away and heads to his bathroom, taking a quick shower and throwing on her dress from the night before. Christina would be getting off shift at 8am, she wondered if she would want to go to breakfast.
"Leaving already?" Tobias asks as he sits up as she emerges from the bathroom.
"Thought we would go for Round 4?" Tris teases as she grabs a hair tie from her clutch, stuffing her panties inside. She tries to tame her hair that had started to frizz from their antics the night before but it was looking a mess.
"Actually I wanted to take you to breakfast, I'm off today, maybe we could hang out." He asks in a hopeful tone.
He was so far out of his element here. This wasn't his thing, he usually couldn't wait to get the women he brought home out of his hair. But there was something about this woman, he wanted to get to know her, and it wasn't just because they had the best sex of his entire life the night before.
"I'm not really the breakfast the morning after type" Tris hedges as she looks in the mirror behind his bedroom door to see if she was satisfied with her makeshift ponytail which she wasn't.
"Neither am I but now I'm trying something different, just go with it"
Tris throws her head back in a laugh, there was something about him that made her want to give up the thought that this was just for fun. She looks at him still giving her his best pout and says what the hell.
"One condition, no personal details," Tris says, moving to stand in front of him as he wrapped the sheet around his waist and sat on the side of his bed.
"No details? What if I want to get to know you better?" He asks looking up and pulling her closer to him by her hips.
Tris sighs with a half-smile, she couldn't deny that she felt like she wanted to know him better too but her mind goes back to the talk she had with herself after visiting her father. If she was going to move back to Chicago, it was going to be because she wanted to, not because she started a long-distance relationship.
He then gives her a pouty look on his face with his lip poked out causing her to playfully sigh. Good lord, that look should be illegal.
"We can talk, but no names, no serious details. I don't want to know where you work, what your last name is, where you went to school. I just…" She tells him, giving in.
Tobias could see her fighting with herself and that she wasn't really sure about her decision and there was something keeping her from letting go.
"It's because you're married aren't you?" He teases earning a hearty laugh from her as he pulls her down to sit on his lap.
"You guess it, I'm married, with 5 kids at home, this is my me time, leaving my family at home while I hit the town having one night stands," She leans down and gives him a kiss while giggling as wraps his arms around her.
"Okay, if that's what you want. You got it. No real details." He coincides after they pull apart.
"Thank you" She whispers bringing her hand to stroke his cheek as he looked up at her making her want to forget about breakfast and crawl back into bed with him.
"Let me take a shower and we can get out of here, you worked up my appetite last night"
Tris gets up but then hesitates.
"I can't go in this" Tris remarks looking down at her tight-fitting dress from the night before.
"I'll go grab something from my roommate, she won't care" Tobias reassures her as he gets up and grabs a pair of shorts from the armchair in the corner of his room.
"Are you sure? My hair is a mess too, I really need my brush, we don't have the same type of hair texture" Tris sighs, not wanting to look like she was on the walk of shame at breakfast but her edges needed a brush.
"Yeah my roommate is Black, so I'm thinking you two have the same hair texture, I've learned a lot about curl patterns since we've been living together" Tobias chuckles thinking about Shauna's rants about detangling her hair and the time she forced him to help her take out her braids in exchange for her picking up his chores at 51 for a week.
Tris raises her eyebrows intrigued by this piece of information and tries not to grin too hard.
Tobias leads her into Shauna's room and shows her the closet while he goes to grab her a brush from her bathroom. Tris felt weird about going through someone else's things so she quickly grabs a short black skirt that looked like one she owned and the material stretched and quickly exits the room.
Tobias offers her two different types of brushes and Tris chooses the hard bristle brush to help smooth her hair down. She spots a bottle of cocoa butter lotion that he grabs for her too.
They head back to his room across the loft, so she can finish getting herself ready and Tobias takes a quick shower.
Tris grabs his button-down shirt on the chair from the night before and ties it up at the waist and rolls up the sleeves and adds her heels from the night before to finish off her outfit. Tobias smiles when he comes out of the bathroom grabbing a pair of jeans as he watches her brush her hair in the mirror, reminding him of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.
Tris pulls out her phone while she stands next to the door to wait for Tobias to finish getting ready and sees that Christina had actually texted her already.
Chris: U up? My partner and I are going to breakfast
Tris: Hey, I'm up but I'll catch up with you later….
Chris: Cryptic much? What are you doing?
Tris: Let's just say last night ran into this morning...
Chris: OOOOOh you owe me details
Tris: Later! I promise!
"You good to go?" Tobias asks as he grabs his keys from the small table by the door.
"Yeah" She smiles, if all she had was today, she was going to enjoy it.
"Hey, Dawson, you want to grab breakfast?" Shauna calls as she shuts her locker. In the 7 years, she had been working at Firehouse 51, Christina Dawson had been the best partner she ever had. She was smart, brave, and always kept her cool.
As paramedic in charge, she was the equivalent to Tobias and Zeke as Lieutenant in rank for the Emergency Medicine Division of the Chicago Fire Department. When she came to 51, she hadn't expected to mesh with the guys in the house, but they all fit together. Chief Max Boden, was a bit of a grizzly bear but he was firm and fair. There wasn't any doubt that he would go to bat for his house.
Shauna could tell her new partner was hesitant about opening up about her personal life. She saw the looks from some of the hospital staff when they did drop-offs at Chicago Lakeshore hospital and she couldn't put the pieces together.
Shauna chose to be open even though Christina was initially closed off and over the past year of them being partners, she had started to share more, being open about how she ended up as a paramedic. Shauna would never forget the day her partner finally opened up to her. They had a rough call, a car accident with multiple victims, and Shauna was blown away by how Christina worked through the victims, it became clear to her that she had formal medical training other than the EMT program through the Chicago Fire Department. They let Squad 3 and Truck 81 go back to the firehouse after leaving the emergency room at Chicago Med to go get a cup of coffee, keeping their radios on in case there was another call. Normally a rough call like that, most paramedics were drained, and Christina looked energized like she was doing something that made her happy. Shauna just listened to her story and gave her a hug, finally putting all the pieces together of their first year of working together. Now they were tight as ever and it made everything run so much better during shift as they worked off each other.
"Sure, I'm starving, but let me text my best friend and see if she wants to meet us" Christina answers coming out of the shower room dressed in her street clothes.
"Cool, I'll text Eaton, Foster, and Vega, I think Pedrad is on Daddy Duty today"
Shauna fires off a quick text to her roommate. She, Zeke, and Tobias were close like siblings. The three of them were looking to save some cash when they all found themselves at 51 around 5 years ago and agreed to be roommates. It had been great with the three of them sharing an apartment, the three of them just clicked. When Tori and Zeke found out they were expecting, Zeke moved out and she and Tobias found a two-bedroom that they loved in the same area.
Shauna: Breakfast? Dawson and I headed to Allgood Dinner. Or are you hungover?
Tobias: I'll pass, kind of still tied up from last night…
Shauna: Hmmmm, that's not your style
Tobias: I know…Zeke challenged me to change it up and I'm glad I did…
Shauna: Can't wait to hear about this…
Tobias: is it cool if I let her borrow something out of your closet, and a brush?
Shauna: My brush? Wow, Eaton, I want details later!
"Is Eaton coming?" Christina asks as they walk out waving to the 3rd shift staff as they walk to Shauna's car.
"Naw, brought some chick home last night, and get this he asks to borrow my brush…"
"What! I always thought blonde hair, blue eyes were his thing…" Christina grins.
"Yeah me too! What about your friend?"
"Apparently she had a little fun last night too. So it's just us"
Shauna shrugs and they jump in the car. At least someone had fun since she and Dawson had to work last night.
Tris and Tobias make their way to a diner that Tobias claims has the best chocolate chip pancakes and purposefully wanting to avoid the same diner that Shauna and Christina were going to.
"So I'm dying to know, how do you have a Black woman as a roommate? Were ya'll together and couldn't get out of your lease?" Tris probes after they slide into a booth and wait for the waitress.
Tobias throws his head back and laughs at the thought of him and Shauna being together.
"No, we've never been together, she's actually a lesbian. We've been best friends for a while. We used to have a three-bedroom with our other best friend, but he moved out a few years ago when he and his girlfriend had a kid" Tobias carefully responds trying to watch her reactions to see if he was revealing too much. It was hard because he felt very relaxed and comfortable with her.
Tris nods understanding now. They pause to give the waitress their order. She liked that the conversation was so easy between the two of them.
"That's cool, I am extremely thankful that I was able to look somewhat put together for our breakfast date. Have you raided her closet for a hook-up before?"
"No, never but our other roommate used to do it, I sent her a text and told her what I did and she already gave me a thumbs up" He chuckles remembering when Shauna had to loan Tori clothes after the first night she ended up coming home with Zeke and didn't have anything to wear because Zeke ripped her dress.
"Hmmm, so you bring a lot of girls home" Tris teases. She could tell he was confident, and he had every reason to be. He was handsome, charming, and amazing in bed and so far, he really did seem like a good guy but not the settling down type.
"I haven't been the greatest at relationships" He offers honestly. "Keeping it casual has been my thing"
She smiles and shakes her head, knowing that she was the same way so there really wasn't any room to place any judgment.
"Hey no judgment from me, especially since I was a willing participant last night," She playfully raises her hands in surrender just as the waitress brings out their order.
"So you really aren't going to tell me anything about yourself?" Tobias edges as he cuts his pancakes.
"This was supposed to be a one-night thing, not a get to know you thing" She challenges as she pours syrup over her pancakes.
Tobias chuckles at her response. He could tell she was stubborn, he was going to have to work hard if he wanted to get to know her better.
"Okay how about we stick to random, hypothetical stuff like those question books?"
Tris narrows her eyes as she chews but still lifts the corner of her mouth in a smile after she swallows. He was persistent and crafty, she would give him that.
"Deal"
"So you said you were trying something different, does that mean you were looking for something different when you saw me last night?" He asks grabbing a slice of bacon.
"I've never played in the snow before, so yes I thought you were extremely sexy and when you came up to me I thought it was a sign I should step outside of my normal box," She says with a sexy grin.
Tobias throws his head back with a deep belly laugh picking up on her play on words and the irony that they both purposely stepped outside of the normal people they hooked up with the night before.
"And why have you never, played in the snow before?" He challenged loving the reaction he got out of her and using her same metaphor.
"Well, you never know how many inches you might get," Tris says cheekily as she traces the rim of her orange juice glass with the tip of her finger.
"You got a whole blizzard last night" Tobias replies with an arrogant tone knowing that women always complimented him on his size.
"I did and I was very impressed" Tris admits in a tone that makes Tobias shift in his seat to adjust himself. Tobias can feel himself harden at the look in her eyes, the fire she had the night before was there. He was amazed at the sexual tension still flowing between the two of them.
"Have you ever played outside the snow before?" She asks while waggling her eyebrows causing him to laugh this time.
"No, and I can say that I think my life has been changed for the better"
Tris grins as she takes a bite of her toast. She liked him, this definitely wasn't part of what she expected last night.
"Okay, my turn to ask a question…" She says excitedly after she swallows and wiggles in her seat.
Tobias nods conceding as he leaned back stretching one arm out across the back of the booth.
"You're going to live in a space station for a year, and you can only take three sets of DVDs with you because there's no streaming, what do you take?"
Tobias grins thinking about his answer for a minute. He couldn't stop smiling around her.
"The Sopranos, The Office, and Game of Thrones, well Seasons 1-7. I hated Season 8"
"Oh my God Season 8 was trash! I can't believe they did Danayres like that" Tris sighs dramatically while Tobias grins.
The two chatter away, talking all about their favorite characters on Game of Thrones and what they wished would have happened then trading more questions back and forth. When Tobias looks down at his phone he's shocked they had been at the diner for two hours.
"So, how about we hang out for the day?" He asks not wanting to leave her yet. He doesn't think he's ever sat and actually talked to a woman for over two hours before.
"Hang out? And do what?" She asks curiously leaning her head to the side.
"I don't know, what's something you haven't done in forever?"
"Let's see, what about Navy Pier? It was just rundown old warehouses when I was a kid"
"That's easy, Let's do it" He replies enthusiastically as he moves to hop out of the booth and leaves money on the table for the bill.
Tris laughs at his enthusiasm as she follows him back to his mustang. They talk, trade more questions, and laugh for the rest of the morning. Once they make it to Navy Pier, Tris gets them tickets for the Ferris wheel. She hooks up her phone to the speaker in the gondola, letting an R&B playlist flow.
Tris leans against the rail taking in the view of the city and Lake Michigan as the wheel begins its slow movement up. Tobias was still mesmerized by her, yes she was beautiful but she was also real, and funny. He snaps a picture of her without her knowing, catching her taking in the view with a smile on her face. She looked so peaceful and happy, he wanted to remember this moment.
It's supposed to take 30 minutes to make it all the way around but after 10 minutes in the wheel abruptly jolts and then stops.
We are experiencing technical difficulties, the ride will begin again shortly says a voice over the loudspeaker.
"You aren't scared of heights are you?" Tris asks curiously as she looks over at him.
"There's not much I'm scared of" he responds as he walks over to her and pulls her in for a kiss.
Tris puts drapes her arms around his neck deepening the kiss. She moans when he lets his hands wander down the squeeze her ass, getting lost in the feeling of his hands on her again as the sounds of Tank's One Man flow throw the speakers of the gondola.
"Can anyone see us?" She whispers biting her lip and leaning back, her chest heaving a bit.
Tobias looks at the position of the Gondola, there was one above them but he couldn't see inside it or the one below them but he wasn't sure about the one all the way across even though it was far away. He pushes Tris into the far left corner, covering her with his body.
Their kisses become frantic, with Tris pressing her body against him, and pulling up his t-shirt so she can run her hands along his torso.
"Tobias" She moans as he moves his hand further up her skirt while attacking her neck.
He inched his hand up more. Knowing that she hadn't been wearing panties all day had been driving him absolutely crazy. He moves his fingers to rub her clit as they continue to kiss and Tris widens her stance to give him better access. He pays attention to every moan and gasp while exploring her. He slides two fingers in when he feels her grab his wrist.
"You can't help yourself, can you?" he whispers against her lips as she continues to hold his wrist steady and he moved the pad of his fingers inside her. She liked to be in control and it made him want to push back.
"I know exactly what I want" She moans as she grinds against his fingers.
He wanted to get her off right now but at the same time, he wished he could take his time, break her.
"I want you to come on my hand right now" Tobias commands as he whispers in her ear.
Tris bites her lip as his hot breath tickles her ear. She slowly lets go of his wrist to give him control.
"I want to be the one to make you cum"
"Fuck, Yes" she gasps at the motion he makes with his hands and the boldness of his words. She continues to grind against his hand.
"That's it...Give me what I want," Tobias coaxes as he feels her clench around him.
"Ohhhh," She gasps as she holds on to him as her orgasm floods her body and her knees get a little weak.
He pulls out his fingers and pushes them into Tris' mouth. She sucks them clean, slow and deliberate while looking in his eyes and Tobias feels he might climax right there himself.
"You just might be the death of me" he murmurs as he pulls his fingers back and gives her another kiss and she smiles against his lips.
Tris moves her hand to caress him through the khaki shorts he was wearing, loving the sound of him moaning. When she moves her hand to his belt buckle he stops her, closing his eyes to catch his breath. When he opens them she was looking at him with her eyebrows furrowed.
"I don't have a condom on me" he admits and Tris groans in frustration, throwing her head back against the corner wall of the gondola.
Tobias chuckles resting his forehead against hers before giving her a quick kiss. He wanted nothing more than to bury himself inside her at that very moment.
"Would you consider this the closest you've ever gotten to the mile-high club?" She asks adjusting her clothes with a grin a moving to the other side of the gondola. If she stayed close to him, she knew she would probably hop into his arms and say forget the fact that they didn't have a condom.
"Ha, yeah, next time, I'll come prepared" He gives her a wink that makes her laugh.
"Have you ever been in love?" He asks curiously moving closer to her again now that he had gotten control of himself.
Tris sighs a heavy sigh as he places his hands on her waist as he moves her to stand between his legs while he leans against the corner.
She plays with the fabric of his shirt wondering how honest she wanted to be but there was something about him that put her at ease, made her want to open up.
"Yeah, once and it damn near broke me when it ended," she says quietly.
"Can I ask why it didn't work out?" He rubs his hands up and down her arms to comfort her.
"Well we got together our senior year of high school and I was head over heels, we spent every free moment together but it was complicated"
Tobias doesn't say anything, he just lets her talk, noticing how she looked off past his shoulder remembering the events from her past.
"I wanted more and it wasn't ever going to happen, and that was that…"
"What more did you want? To get married?" He probes wondering how anyone could not be mesmerized by being in her presence.
"Ummm her parents didn't approve of us being together…."
"Ohhhh," Tobias says quietly watching her drop her head.
Tris lets out a little chuckle at his reaction to her being in a relationship with a woman.
"We snuck around and after two years of basically hiding, I just couldn't do it anymore. I made her choose between me and her parents and she chose her parents"
Tobias feels his heart constrict. He could see and hear how much it still hurt her. He puts a finger under her chin and tips her head to look him in the eye.
"Tris, you are the most vibrant, beautiful woman I think I have ever met. You deserve to be seen and loved openly. Even if you tried to hide, I would still see you"
Tris feels a tear fall from her eyes. She pulls him into a soft intimate kiss.
The jolt of the Ferris wheel starting to move again pulls them away from each other. Tobias smiles and places a kiss on her forehead.
"What about you? Have you ever been in love?"
"Ehhh, I've said it but honestly I don't think I knew what it really meant at the time. We were together for a while, in high school and after, and everyone especially my parents just expected us to get married and that be the end of it, but I just felt restless…that's how I knew it wasn't real"
Tris nods and turns so she can lean back against him. He instinctively wraps his arms around her upper body and she places her hands on his arms. It was strange, never had she been this open and vulnerable or felt so protected with someone that she had just met.
After they disembark the Ferris Wheel, they walk hand in hand down the pier. They trade more questions back and forth, stopping to go through some of the shops, going through the funhouse, enjoying each other's company and the natural chemistry brewing between them. They eventually wander down to East End Plaza. Tris finds a spot and positions her and Tobias so she can take a selfie of them with a beautiful view of Lake Michigan as the background.
"How about an early dinner? And then I know a spot where we can catch the fireworks from the Pier with a great view." Tobias asks looking at his watch.
It was just after 4 30, he had no idea what would happen tomorrow so he planned to make the moment count.
"Sounds perfect" Tris grabs his hand and laces their fingers together so he could lead the way.
Hope you enjoyed this chapter! What do you think of Tris not wanting too many details? Do think Tobias will break her before the end of the evening?
