Traverse Town was like so many worlds and none at the same time.

A slum beneath Sector 7 mixed with the dreariness Baker Street. A cozy little village from Pranksters Paradise combined with the neutral fixation of Narshe. It's no wonder this world appears when you need it. There are so many things one of them is bound to remind you of home.

But she wasn't in need of a reminder of home. She was here now, not because she was lost from her home world, but to find those who were.

Aya Brea stood in the center of a wide open plaza. Doors as tall as the walls that boxed her in were before her. If she were to walk through them she would be in the first District, right back from where she started. But this one; District 3 is where she was meant to be. Where she was to rendezvous for her new assignment. One she wouldn't be alone on. So here she waited.

Behind her was a bright colorful fountain depicting two dogs kissing. Further behind that was a small corridor that lead to a door with a fire emblem on it. Having had her history and even powers involving it, Aya put her back that way needing no more reminder of it that herself. To her side and up the ramp that lead to the door she came through from the second district. But atop the ramp before the door was an old house once used by several people when they were lost from their world. It was lost people like that that she was here for. But as fate would have it, it would not be alone.

She preferred working alone from her time at MIST. Her powers only frightened people, it frightened her too. Yet this case required two agents, not one. One from another world just like her.

She waited quietly, but patiently in the center of the plaza. Anticipation built into her like the virus that gave her powers.

She did not know how long she would be waiting. In fact she wasn't sure how long she had been waited so far, as she just sat there pondering everything. How she got to be here now, what was happening on her own world, how she got her powers, if they were related to Darkness, all trailing all back to that one night at the opera. It was so much to focus on that she did not hear the quite springy steps coming towards her from below.

"Hey there!" a cheery young woman's voice suddenly called out. Seeing no one else around but sensing it already Aya knew the voice was talking to her. The problem was no matter where she turned there was no one to be seen. "Yoo hoo!" the voice called again and Aya turned quicker this time to catch them though they remained elusive. She spared a blink to check her eyes, but it didn't change anything. All around her, she saw nothing "Down here!" the voice called out from below.

Following the advice Aya stopped looking around and instead brought her head down to see two wide purple eyes starring enthusiastically up at her.

She, however, was more concerned.

Standing beside her, but hardly reaching past the top of her boot was a small gray rabbit standing on two feet and looking right up at her. The sight of a harmless little bunny isn't what kept Ayas blank stare on her, though. It was the fact that she wore a blue uniform seemingly designed just for her, fit with a duty belt and shield.

Aya had seen many strange things and knew she would be in for more but she wasn't expecting this.

Her stare remained blank yet distant as the bunny remained looking up at her idealistically. Her eyes getting wider and her enthusiasm growing as she propped herself up on her toes as if to get a better look at her.

"Officer Brea right?" the bunny said opening its mouth to speak as Aya saw for the first time though she heard her before that.

"Yes." Aya confirmed as her stare lingered on her. Her eyes flashing to the shield before back up the bunnies eyes "So you must be Judy.." her eyes trailed down to her feet "Hopps."

Confirming it herself Judy set herself back down on her long feet "Easy to remember right?" she asked, and it must have been rhetorical because before Aya could answer Judy went on to the next thing "Gotta say, I love your hair."

A flash of surprise and embarrassment came over Aya. Just as unexpected it was for Kyle to say he liked her smile she was expecting this to start off. She brought a hand up to run it through her blond hair.

"Thank you." she accepted it meekly, returning her hand to her side.

"So," Judy exhaled a deep breath "looks like it's you and me partner."

It was there that this revelation truly kicked in with her. She knew her assignment inside and out. People had gone missing from their worlds, only to end up here. Yet even from here they began disappearing once again. There were so many it happened so frequently that many started to report it, before they went missing themselves.

It was then that Aya was selected for the job; someone off world to find so many who had already left theirs. Startled as she was to be here, she was just as more so by Judy. Not just by her apperance but her status. Aya was part of a unit now yet they put her with some regular cop? Daniel was a great partner and did a lot for her. So she'd have to see how this Judy was. But this would be her partner. Then so be it.

"Yes," Aya nodded "I suppose it is. Gotta say I wasn't expecting a cute little bunny."

"oohh" Judy winced, lowering her ears and shoulders and already Aya felt like she had done something wrong, but couldn't say what "you probably didn't know this," Judy cringed "but a bunny can call another bunny cute, but when other animals do it..." she winced. Unsure of what to say, but feeling apologetic Aya apologized.

"Sorry." Aya said quietly "I just.." Aya paused uncomfortably "wanted to return a compliment."

"Well," Judy rose back up, her voice doing it too "it's alright." Judy bobbed on her long feet before she clapped her hands together "Alright! So let's put our heads together for this one partner" Judy said chipperly throwing her arms in the air, but they hardly reached past her ears. "Ready to make the world a better place? Or more appropriately worldS" She asked worth emphasis on the 's'. Then bringing one hand back to her hips and then raised the other in a closed fist. Aya looked her over curiously but then seeing her fist lingering in the air brought a hers down to bump it lightly into hers. "Whoo!" She cheered and Aya wondered if she would do that again "You are warm to the touch." Aya sunk her hand a bit further back to her side "I get it." Judy said "big case, big shoes to fill, but it's alright we got this. So let's get down to business." she said as she began to walk away. Aya let her get a few paces ahead of her before following, making sure they were side by side.

They went up the ramp, rounding past the now abandoned house and exiting the third district to come to the second.

They entered it through the door, and the wide open plaza was replaced by a small narrow path. Flanked by two high brick walls, they followed it. Their footsteps accompanied by the distinct chime of the bell tower. An impersonation of Notre Dame no doubt, though it could just as easily be the bell of oblivion from Lostime.

"You know," Judy said chipperly "I did graduate at top of my class and solved the infamous Night howler case. I'm sure you've heard of it." she let out a confident chuckle.

"I have now." Aya replied with much less enthusiasm.

"Well," Judy continued on" given the nature of Traverse Town and my familiarity with the distinct districts of Zootopia I was hand picked for this." A thought crept into Aya's kind that she would be better for picking carrots, but she decided against it. They were in this together now. PUT OTHER THING HERE "What about you, partner?" she asked once they passed through the door from District 3 to 2. Pending another part of the conversation.

"Me?" Aya asked confused.

Judy nodded "What was your big case?" Aya shifted uncomfortably. Unsure of what details to give out, and uncomfortable with doing so. It was more than tracing primal instincts to a flower. Hers was not about regressing to a primitive state, but ascending to a higher one. One where she might as well be the ultimate predator in Judy's eyes.

"It's classified."

"Ah, your right, your right." Judy relented "we should keep our heads in the game for this one." she concluded as they walked forward.

"It's why we're here after all." Aya agreed.

"But say," Judy let out turning her head back up to her "how about afterwords we do some celebrating. Wanna go to a Gazelle concert?" She turned back chipperly at her.

It was going to a concert initially that changed Ayas life forever. She could still see the people erupt into flames and scream.

"One step at a time." Aya said flattly "We gotta solve the case before we can celebrate."

"And I know we will!" Judy said confidently "Together. One step at a time." she added, and some of her enthusiasm must have rubbed off onto Aya now.

"Just keep it to steps and not hops." she quipped with a small smile.

"You got it partner." Judy said "Hoppings just so mush faster though, ya know." she said "So let's pool our resources. What to know about this case?" she asked. Aya took in a deep breath and divulged everything she knew.

Her first interaction with them lead her to believe they were a new king of NMC; Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures. But it seems these heartless are more wicked than them. Another monster for her to investigate. It started routinely when people started disappearing from her world, but more so than usual. She tried to track down and find them but they just up and vanished leaving nothing behind but empty white husks. Just as fearsome and just as wicked as the Heartless.

She followed the trail of them, but found nothing. The missing reports kept getting piled up and more and more Heartless and Nobodies began appearing. In the mix up of all that the higher ups were requested to another world where people who become stranded appear. Seeing it as a potential link between her case, she took it. But of course her world was not the only one afflicted with this burden.

"Wow that's really interesting." Judy said both astonished and intrigued. But now it was time for her to tell what she knew. "For me, it started almost the same way." There was the link Aya thought she'd find. "Animals just started disappearing and these black monsters showed up to take their place. These Heartless." she reflected darkly "They seemed like predators only everything was their pray. From the biggest elephant to the smallest rodent. So long as they had a heart they were prey. Worse yet anyone could be one. In the end it felt so much like my last case I thought I could make a difference." a yearning in her voice resonated with Aya. A helplessness she fought against. Suddenly Judy's calm reflective tone turned back to chipper and lively "But we're not gonna let that happen will we?"

"No" Aya smiled. "So where to?"

"There's been a new missing person. Our reporter should be this way." Judy hopped up, planting her feet on the wall before propelling off of it and bounding far ahead to land on the ground and scurry ahead. A surprising show of agility that Aya took note of as she as left behind and Judy kept going ahead.

Judy passed around the sharp turn to go left following the path between the walls. Once she did, it was only a few more hops for her before it emptied out into another wide open space. This one was much larger than the third district they just left.

The high church bell chimed to their right above the gizmo shop. Ahead, lining the street above them were numerous shops with items from all kinds of different worlds. A Junk Shop from Balamb town nestled right next to Tony's Restaurant where the smell of pizza and meatballs blew out of the open window. The fountain to the left showed the keyhole to this world and nestled beside it was a door that lead downwards into the caverns.

Judy continued on ahead but even after she passed out of the alleyway Aya saw a shadow form around the corner. She thought it was Judy's before seeing Judy had passed it by without noticing it. Aya saw it twitch and shift unnaturally. She did not hear anyone and strangely enough it seemed to have manifested all its own. A small black foot stepped forward followed by another which brought lurching forward a small black shape.

"Heartless." she gasped.

The small shadow Heartless paid her no mind. Instead, it's round head turned to see Judy stopped in the middle of the plaza. It's beady yellow eyes set on her it slunk towards her with her unsuspecting of it's approach from behind.

"No!" Aya called out. Upon hearing her distressed call, Judy turned around yet when she looked she saw only the Heartless leaping towards her. She hardly had anytime to move or dodge it, frozen in place. But before it could grab ahold of her the Heartless burst into flame in mid air. Fire reflected in Judy's eyes as it fell into flame before her. And looking past it, Judy saw Aya's outstretched hand reaching for it. The Heartless burned into nothing, and as it faded so did the flame that encompassed it.

Judy gasped at the sight and to Ayas distress made the connection quite quickly of what just happened.

Aya brought her hand back to her side. Looking to Judy waiting to see the horrified judgement filled eyes starting at her. Strangely that never came. But she did shout at her again.

"That was so cool!" She exclaimed catching Aya slightly off guard. Judy bounded ecstatically towards her before leaping to her feet "I didn't know you could do that!"

Aya was shocked, but no less self conscious about it, trying to hide behind her hair "I really don't like to-"

"And you did it all for me!" Judy exclaimed hopping up, higher than before to land on Aya's left shoulder forcing it downwards and forcing Aya to look to her. Uneasy as she was about using her powers, Aya knew she had to do it here. But looking right before Judy's lack of judgement filled eyes relieved her in ways she couldn't put into words.

"You don't have to thank me." she said with her voice coming back to her, but with an added compliment at the end "Partner."

Glowing from Ayas first use of the word to her Judy hopped off her shoulder.

"Now nothing's going to stop us! Let's go find out informant!" Judy cheered. Agreeably Aya followed behind her.

They found him waiting at the end of an alleyway propped against a door that lead into a house that once housed over a hundred Dalmatians; a missing persons case if Aya or Judy had ever seen one. One this man took particular interest in that as well.

But that case had been solved over a year ago with the puppies returned to their parents and their world.

But their case was not.

The man they came to see was standing at the end of the alley. Aya and Judy stood before him side by side. Judy with an orange pen fashioned like a carrot write in her notebook. He stood stiffy before them, his arms crossed and eyes closed as if deep in thought. Brown hair fell from his head, a lion pendant from his neck, but more noticeably a scar ran between his two eyes.

"You're a long way from Radiant Garden Mr. Leonhart." Judy stated pointedly. His eyes opened as he eyed the two women before him.

"It's Leon." he corrected dryly.

"Then why come all the way out here?"

"If his missing person went anywhere it's be here." Aya told.

"When's the last time you saw them?" Judy said as she began writing.

"Ten years ago." Leon answered flatly. Judy stopped writing as she and Aya exchanged nervous glances. That might just be too long a gap of time. But Leon continued on "When we lost our world." Leon told. Their uneasy states didn't lessen though they turned them back to Leon who at that moment opened his eyes to see the two of them looking to him.

"And what's her name?" Aya asked.

He took in a deep breath. But when he exhaled, he answered the question, but with it was a burden he held inside of him for all the years they had been apart.

"Rinoa Heartilly."

Twilight Town Bistro

He looked wide eyed, but no less intently at the check list before him. He started at the top and read it aloud.

"Flashlight?" Huey asked and peered over the piece of paper to look at Dewey and Louie. They were dressed normally save what was on their head. It wasn't the usual cap, but a racoon skin one. And on each of their backs were backpacks. It was Dewey who answered him, raising a hand.

"Check." he answered flicking the flashlight on and off even though it was still bright out. Huey put a check on his paper next to Flashlight. He continued on looking beneath that word and to the next.

"Batteries?" Huey asked.

"Check." Dewey answered bringing up his other hand holding the batteries they would no doubt need for the flashlight to fight off the darkness.

"Extra batteries?" Huey reaffirmed.

"Double Check." Louie chimed in with two raised hands filled with batteries. Nodding agreeably Huey looked back to the list.

"Tent poles?"

Louie looked over his shoulder to see the poles sticking out of his backpack. "Check." he answered.

"Rations?" Huey asked and Dewey jiggled his backpack and the cans in them that contained all kinds of sweet food for them on the road.

"Check."

"Check list." Huey said aloud and then paused before chuckling to himself "Check." he answered. He then lowered it down and then looked to the other two. "Well, I guess we're ready." he announced.

"Then what are we waitin for?" Dewey asked excitedly.

"Let's go!" Louie added. Huey turned around putting his back to them. He was the first to start taking the first step forward though that only put him in between his brothers, but another step put him ahead of them and they fell in behind him. First Dewey turning into him and then Louie with a wider turn and step did the same. The three then stepped forward in a single file line. They headed towards the open door and filed out into the hallway.

It was finally happening. After waiting for so long, and saving up even longer the three had finally done it. They had built up enough funds to have their own adventure. Not like the ones they had in Duckburg, but ones that brought them into the wider universe; where there were all kinds of worlds to explore. And to think in all this time waiting Uncle Donald already had several of those all his own. But now they would have theirs, one that would make Uncle Donald and Uncle Scrooge proud, and they weren't even out of the Bistro yet.

As the boys moved to leave they had to pass by Uncle Scrooge's office. The door was opened and no doubt he was inside. They heard his voice for sure, but there was another as well. One they did not recognize. It was a mans voice, younger than Uncle Scrooge's but older than themselves. His voice was aloof yet rough at the same time.

Judging by the flow of the conversation, it seemed to be an interview of some kind.

"I heard of that business at Fate." Scrooge told. The three saw him now as they passed the door. He was sitting behind his desk. Whoever he was talking to was standing up pressed against the wall. They couldn't see him exactly. His face was shrouded by his long brown hair and even his bare arms seemed to be hidden under long intertwining black tattoos.

Interesting as it may be that didn't concern them now. Excitement had already taken ahold of them. Their attention on the adventure ahead and their focus on the door ahead they waddled past without looking inside. But just because they didn't know who was inside didn't mean they weren't going to let themselves be known.

"Gudbye Unca Scrooge!" Huey called happily as they walked passed the door. From behind them the old mallard stirred hopping from his seat and readjusting his glasses. The man across from him let out a chuckle as Scrooge poked his head over his desk.

"Dah!" he let out upon seeing them march by "Boys!" he called as they passed by "Where are ye goin?"

"On an adventure." Huey answered as he passed the door.

"Like the one we always planned." Dewey said as he followed.

"It's gonna be a blast!" Louie said excitedly before disappearing behind the wall.

"Yes but where?" Scrooge called after not getting a real answer. The threes head then reappeared in the doorframe ontop of each other.

"To that old mansion in the forest." Huey began at the top.

"They say it's haunted." Dewey added.

"And we wanted to see for ourselves." Louie finished. That answer finally gave Scrooge what he wanted to hear. Pleased with the sight Scrooge stood himself up sturdily with his cane.

"Ah! Very well." he said pleasantly "Adventure is the mother of all industry after all." he chuckled aloud to himself as his great nephews left through the door "Just be careful!" he called out.

"We will!" they called back as the popped back into the wall and continued down the hallway. But they were still being watched. Scrooge's eyes followed them as they left the doorframe. He said nothing to the man he was interviewing until he heard the bell chime at the end of the hallway meaning the boys had left.

"Now," he began as he turned back to the man who previously had his full attention.

"Kids sure are a pain huh." the man said to him.

"They can be." Scrooge nodded agreeably "So it'd make for a perfect first assignment." he said his eyes peered back to where the boys had just left. The man had bore a smirk this whole time, but it widenened when Scrooge said that.

The boys had exited the Bistro and had taken their first steps into the open world to being their great adventure. They waddled past the tables one after the other in a single line. Indeed, some expected them to be coming out to help take orders as they usually would, but that wouldn't be the case today. They didn't give a thought to that right now, or who Uncle Scrooge was talking to either. Their only thought was of the adventure ahead. But that could only be done by leaving the town first.

They left the patio of the bistro to enter the busy streets of Twilight Town. The sounds of trolleys and people all around was as loud as it was pleasant. But it would all be left behind soon enough. They passed under an archway following the tracks that would lead them to the edge of town. All that was left to do was cut a corner and descend. Arriving at that corner they rounded it not to continue their path, but to come face to someone else.

Huey at the front stopped abruptly causing Dewey to knock into him and Louie to cause an even bigger traffic jam once he hit Dewey forward more and into Huey. Pulling off of each other, Dewey and Louie each poked a head over Hueys shoulder to see the obstacle before then.

It was no obstacle, but a young man, one taller and older than they were. He had spiky brown hair a black collar around his neck and a silver pendant that hung from it. A bandage was under his right eye. He wore a red jacket with yellow insides and black Sleeved. At the bottom of the hoodie sagging over his belt written across it were the words 'Dog Street'.

Despite his formidable demeanor, he did not seem frightened.

"Hey, sorry." he apologized quickly. His voice was light and even a bit easy going. He looked the three duckings. "Well you three look like you're going on a adventure."

"We sure are." Huey answered excitedly.

"We've been saving up a whole lotta money to do so." Dewey added over Huey's shoulder.

"Fine" he nodded "Say can you tell me where I'm going?" He asked and then seemed to regret it "I'm looking for the Bistro. Since everyone's always talking about it, I thought it's be easy to find. But I guess not." he lowered his head a bit.

"Oh that's easy." Huey answered undeterred.

"We just came from there." Dewey added following his lead.

Louie pointed back "Its right back down the street under the arches and around the corner." The man turned to look ahead as if confirming that they told him. It seemed to check out as a faint smile came over his face.

"Alright" he said a little more optimistically "thanks." he turned his head down to them "I'm Sion by the way. Maybe I'll you around there sometime."

"Oh we're there a whole lot. " Huey said causing Sion to nod afterwords.

"Well, now that I know where I'm going I gotta get there. Enjoy your journey guys."

"Adventure." Louie corrected.

"Whatever you say." Sion said as he walked around the three to head down the street. But with him gone, it meant there was one less obstacle in their way. "Stay on your toes boys!" he called back to them. Though Sion continued on ahead the three kept watching him as he walked away.

"Wow, did you get a look of him?" Dewey asked.

"He looked really strong." Huey commented.

"Yeah. Makes me wonder what he'd want from the Bistro." His thoughts were almost brought back to the man they heard Scrooge talking to but before he could make a connection they were shocked away.

"Aww" Louie shook them off "He just wanted to get something to eat. Let's go."

Their trek continued from there. They went low first, going down into the sewer; dank and murky, they liked it very much. To them it was no different thang passing through a cave and the comparison only thrilled them more. The flashlights came in handly here and their echoing wet footsteps made them listen extra carefully to hear how far and what direction they echoed out to. Eventually, it was carried upwards. They followed the steep way up as if it were a hill to conquer. And once they reached the top, they would plant their flag upon it.

The sewer opened up on the other side through two old wooden doors. Popping up from them the three were on level ground again. And before them was the endless bounds of forests.

Now their exploration truly begins. They wasted no time in stepping into it.

The massive wall behind them kept Twilight Town on one side and this forest the other. Every step took them deeper into one and away from the other. Creeping among the roots countless trees was an old winding dirt road that swayed like a snake through the grass. They were determined to stay on it for they knew it lead to their destination.

The sounds of Twilight Town were long gone now. Replaced with the near total silence of the woods. The faint breeze made the branches rattle, and the dirt and grass crushed beneath their feet. It would be unnerving if it wasn't what they wanted. But the anticipation that some long forgotten horror was at the end of this road excited turn greatly. It didn't bother them at all that looking back the gate and even the doors they came through disappeared by all the trees around them.

"So what's the rumors about this place?" Louie asked. His green indistinguishable from the forest colors around them.

"The seventh wonder of Twilight Town." Dewey told.

"They say it's haunted." Huey expanded upon it and everything seemed to grow darker as he spoke it. "That some girl appears in the second story window. That done horrible experiments were done inside."

Dewey shuddered at the thought. He looked around at the forest surrounding them. Trees and grass flanked both sides of the road. Becoming closely knit the father back he peered. And the small spaces between them were shrouded in darkness. A darkness that slowly crept closer and closer to the path the deeper they ventured. He began to think anything else could be lurking here, or watching them as they waddled along the road. The ground began to turn upwards as they approach the bottom of a hill.

Up ahead as if knowing it was being spoken of, appearing just through the break in the trees and bushes was the tip of a roof. Coming in closer the trees began to thin out and the branches that held out the sun allowed more traces of light through. And ahead they saw it. A sweeping great mansion that rivaled even Uncle Scrooge's mansion. A hazy brown color they were amazed to see. Louie instantly looked to the window, but saw no one there.

The three made their way closer to see the mansion was behind a tall gate. Coming up the hill, the trees began to thin out around them as did the ground as they veered closer. Once they had stepped out of the forest, they realized something. Something that slowed their procession to a stop.

The gate was closed and though there was no little girl in the window someone stood before the gate now. Not facing the gate as if wanting to get in, but with his back to it. As if guarding the entrance.

Though they were still a decent distance away this figure stuck out to them easily. For he was monstrously tall, taller than anyone the boys had ever seen. If his size wasn't intimidating enough his large bulging muscles were. Yet deepening that fear were the two small priding horns on his head. Both his ears, and the left side of his face on his nose eyebrow and mouth.

His head was bowed and his arms crossed. He seemed to be standing there for a reason though they couldn't guess what. The three slowed to a stop now leaving the forest and trail behind for the open feeling of the gates. The figure there did not stir. The boys were startled by his appearance, and looking to each other wondered what he was doing here and what to do next.

"What do you suppose this is about?" Louie asked from the back.

"Is it a Heartless or Nobody?" Dewey asked more pointedly.

"I don't think so." Huey shook his head.

"Suppose he's a gargoyle?"

"He's not made of stone."

"He ain't moving much."

"I've heard there's ones that do that in some worlds." The three continued to debate for some time. As they did the silent figure before them barley even seemed to breath let alone register anything around him.

"As phooey." Louie blustered "We can get around him no sweat." he took a few courageous strides forward undeterred by his size and bolstered by the fact he didn't move.

Yet when he drew closer, the man's eyes snapped open revealing dark orange glaring at him.

"Whoa!" Louie shrieked and jumped back to be caught by his brothers. His legs rattling as they knocked into each other.

But the looming figure did nothing to chase him. Instead, he remained where they found him. Only his eyes followed Louie to rejoin his brothers. His stare remained on the three as they seemed too petrified to move from their place as if turning to stones themselves. To match the slight movement of his eyes, his mouth opened and he spoke.

"Why have you come?" he asked bluntly in a deep serious voice.

Propping himself up on the other two Huey answered him "We've come all this way to investigate the seventh wonder of Twilight Town."

"You've come all the way here for that?" He asked and they nodded. He lowered his head and closed his eyes again looking exactly like how they first found him. "I cannot allow anyone to enter here." he told calmly "Not after all that's been done."

"Even after coming all this way?" Dewey asked. He opened his eyes and raised his head to focus on them.

"Too much darkness is tied into this mansion and what's been done here. If you opened those gates, you'd allow that dark memory to be cast over the town. Would you really have that?"

"Well, no, we sure don't."

"Then turn back." he warned "I came to this world and guard its secret. So I cannot allow anyone to reopen them." he uncrossed his arms letting them fall limply, but still heavy to his side. But that didn't diminish his wide frame but enhance it. He looked as if he was going to fight, but his glare did enough to freeze then in place. The boys held onto each other frightened. But this mans glare did not relent.

"P-p-please we don't want trouble."

"Then you should turn back now." he told "I have cast back stronger fighters. And I would not wish to do it to children. But this placed must remain locked."

"What are you supposed to be? The doorman?" Louie asked.

"A bouncer." He told "Warding off the foolish who coming here." The three boys awaited to hear more from him, as he waited to hear what they would say next or better yet to see what they would do.

"Hey! Volt!" a lively voice called. But it was not from the boys or from this man. The boys recognized the voice. Strangely so did the man before them as he responded to the name. Perking looked up past the boys and they in turn looked behind them.

Appearing from the darkness of the forest and coming down the same dirt road the boys had come was a man. He wore a black vest exposing his chest and arms which in turn were covered in tattoos. He had long brown hair and a wry grin on his face. The amusement in it only grew when he saw the interactions of the four before him. The boys did not recognize the man, but they knew his voice. He was the one speaking with Uncle Scrooge when they left the Bistro.

"So this is what they got you doing here?" he asked over the boys "Playing a statue to scare kids."

"This post was of my choosing Kou." Volt said steadying himself into the position he initially was found in, crossing his arms again. "There is too much darkness lying within this old mansion."

"Sounds like a pretty thankless job then." Kou said slyly to him. Kou turn looked past him and up at the mansion. "From Mikado to Fate to this old dump? You're really moving down Huh?" Volt would no longer humor Kou, but get to the heart of why he was here.

"What are you doing here?" He asked getting over his surprise at seeing him.

"Keeping an eye on these boys like my new employer wants." He paused looking down to turn to the three boys who looked up to him with strange looks, but the grin he flashed eased them a bit. He then turned back up to flash it at Volt "And Getting you of course."

Volt stirred "Getting me?" He asked surprised.

"Well as it just so happens" Kou told "my new employment is much more thankful. And needs all the help he can get." he shot a sideways glance at volt "So you better come along with me and these boys. Can't make me look bad after a recommendation you know?"

Standing between them, the boys turned their heads from Kou to Volt. They weren't sure just yet of what was happening, but it seems Volt had been invited to come along with them just as Kou had come to get them. They watched in anticipation to see what would happen next. Volt did just as he had before; he uncrossed his arms, but this time after doing so he did something else. He moved to walk forward towards them.

"There ya go!" Kou cheered as he turned to walk away as well. Volt continued on but stopped before the boys who were trapped under the wide shadow he cast.

Volt paused before the boys speaking back to them "Come boys." he called. His voice was low and grumbly, but much less threatening than it had been before. The boys didn't know what to do. They looked ahead to Kou who seemingly sending the hesitation turned to see then.

"Come on boys. I can't return with him and not you three, ya know." The three listening to him scurried away from Volt and to him.

"Uh sir?" Huey peeped once they caught up to him, but Kou didn't hear it. Huey tried again followed by Dewey but he still continued on leading their new group of five.

"Kou!" Volt raised voice beckoned far behind yet it got Kou to turn his head back.

"Hm." he let out over his shoulder "You say something?"

"They want to ask you a question." Bolt told as his eye wanders down to the three between them. Looking down Kou grinned.

"Well why don't they speak up?" He joked. The boys were too confused and uneasy to do so themselves, but they couldn't even ask their question again either "Well, what is it boys?" Kou asked again and after stumbling over some words they found their voice.

"You said you were sent to get us. Who sent you?" Huey asked.

"Your great uncle of course." Kou answered as if the answer was obvious.

"Uncle Scrooge wanted you to look after us?" he asked surprised, not that Uncle Scrooge would do such a thing, but that he would hire a bodyguard to do just that. Kou simpy nodded. "And uh… what about?" His eyes drifted back to Volt.

"Dah don't worry about him!" He said casually as he turned ahead to walk off this time. Coming to the doors to the sewer he stopped only for a moment.

"But-"

"He's right." Volt told " I was only going to scare you off. Never harm you. Yet now that I seem to be in the employ of your uncle you three are my charge now." his voice was still deep and distant, but there was a strength to it, a desire to protect that overcame his hard voice, strong features and the initial fear he put in them.

"Well, I'd rather have you as a friend than anyone." Dewey said "You'd scare even the Heartless off."

"I can see why anyone would want you as a bodyguard."

"Watch your step now." he advised as they descended into the sewer together.

The walk back was surprisingly much quieter then the one that brought them here. Volt had little to say or add. Kou seemed to dodge all questions saying it'll be explained once they got back. All they knew was that he was in their uncles employ. Volt seemed to be as well and perhaps so was one more too.

Popping back up from the sewer they did so unnoticed coming back into town. Smells of fresh food and slow moving traffic was heard all around.

But as easy as there departure had been, having seemingly gone unnoticed with the exception of their run in with Sion, many more were apparent of their return. Especially since their group was larger.

More comfortable here the boys broke off to skip and laugh ahead of Kou. Though Volt always kept an eye on them as they never strayed too far. With not too much left to go they came back to the Bistro. Looking ahead, standing in front of it they saw Uncle Scrooge. But just like when they left him they found he wasn't alone.

He was talking to someone in front of him, tapping his cane as he spoke. Looking like he was instructing him not lecturing him. But unlike before the boys knew who this was.

"Hey." Huey dragged the word out as the three set their eyes on the young man "Isn't that? What was his name?" he asked confused "Sora?"

"Zion?" Dewey guessed.

"Sion!" Louie declared. From behind them, Volt came to a sudden stop, a slight hint of shock showing in his otherwise stoic hard face.

"It can't be?" Volt let out surprised from behind them.

"Oh so you've met him already." Kou said getting everyone's attention. Turning up to him he kept his wide grin. "He's the third to our trio. Not unlike you guys." he winked down to them.

"Wow!" They gasped together "If they're a trio like us whose who?" Huey asked "I'm definitely Sion!" Huey declared.

"I'm Kou!" Dewey said having taken a liking to his flashy style.

"You can be whoever you want. But I'm Volt." Louie said looking up to him and his gargantuan size.

As he was looking up, it was Volt took a step forward. The boys beneath him parted for his mighty leg. With a sidestep Kou caught up to him as the boys scurried to keep pace with the larger men. Their approach was noticed by Sion who looked past Uncle Scrooge to look at the oncoming group. Shock came over his face when he did.

"No way!" he gasped. Scrooge turned his head. Annoyed at first by the intetruption, but pleased once he saw who it was.

"Ah," he let out calmly "here they are now." Shuffling he around he turned to face the oncoming group. Rounding him, Sion broke off to join them. As he did the boys scurried beneath them to stop before Uncle Scrooge.

"Uncle Scrooge!" They exclaimed together.

"Ah boys." he let out a breath "How was her first adventure?" He asked as if he already knew the answer "Far from over I hope. And ye brought me my latest employee I see." he said with a hearty chuckle.

"You mean-" Huey was about to ask but Scrooge answered first.

"You got it lad." He confirmed as he looked up from them as the boys turned around to view the reunion of the three bouncers. "I've hired them fer security at my bistro. And I've gotten only the best of the best I can tell ye that." he said unable to contain his delight.

They watched as Sion came before the other two.

"So it's really you too!" Soin exclaimed.

"So it is." Volt grumbled in agreement.

"Well it looks like we got our old team back together" Kou commented as the three forming a triangle looked to each of their sides to see the other two "Just like old times at Fate huh?" Kou shrugged.

"And we wanna hear all about it?" A light voice suddenly squeaked from below. Looking down at their legs, the three bouncers were overtaken by the overly excited squawking of the boys. "Yeah, tell us all about your adventures!" Overtaken by the three smaller ones Scrooge watched in amusement as they tried to play it off. Volt did stoically and not responding at all while Sion tried to talk them down. Kou did so by saying his phone was going off leading Volt to square off against two as both Louie and Dewey to jump up and swing off of Volts low dangling arms.

Many would see this as an excuse to get away. But Kou's phone was actually ringing. And when his superiors called. He answered.

Kou walked off to answer his phone putting it to his ear and making sure he was out of earshot from the rest, but not out of eyesight.

"Yes, I made it." he answered tiredly into the phone. Silence came from him as he listened to the other end " It's me, what do you expect?"

"Just remember the mission." Leann's voice droned from the other end.

"I know, I know" he said tiredly before he glanced over to the group that assembled before the bistro. His eyes settling in on a certain one of them "Keep an eye on Scrooge Mcduck." he said as he saw Scrooge's bill flap something to Sion as Volt nodded with the two ducklings tugging on his arms and Huey danced excitedly beneath them.

Kou hung up the phone and returned to the group casually. As if nothing was going on and making sure they didn't suspect a thing. They were just as boisterous as he had left then. But his exit didn't go unnoticed.

"A shapeshifting panther huh?" Dewey asked looking up to Sion and Volt.

"You call these prices!" A young aggravated voice called out "Sounds more like robbery!" they all turned together to see a young boy kick over a table only have the chair with it and scattering it's contents if a menu and flower pot into the floor. Several other persons got up from their seats and left as the group stood defiantly amongst it all.

"Those hooligans again." Scrooge grumbled "Curse me kilts." He fumed and then turned around to the three men "Time to earn yer keep boys. I don't pay ye for nothing". Turning with him the boys looked on excited, ready to see these three reunited in a fight.

Volt answered him first. His eyes on the trouble makers he stepped forward and rolling his massive shoulders "I know of these trouble makers." he said stepping up "they tried to get into the mansion the other day."

"Seems they don't know when to quit." Kou commented lining up on one side

"Neither do we." Sion told stepping up "Let's end this. Our way!" he slammed one fist into the other.

"Go get em guys!" the boys cheered on as the bouncers charged the Discipline Committee. Ready to give them discipline of their own.

"Wow," Kou let out "we really are back together."
