Tris hops out of her car tossing her keys to the valet. The hotel on Michigan Ave was known for high-end clients, Tris remembers 51 responded to an accident in the kitchen a few months ago. This was definitely Nita's speed.

It was cold out and she had added a short cropped coat over her arms but she still shivered a bit at the cold air. She smirks when the valet mutters to himself as she checks out her ass while she walks into the hotel. She definitely chose the right dress for the evening. She wasn't necessarily wanting to make Nita drool but she didn't mind showing her what she was missing. The hostess at the restaurant opening directs her to the table where Nita was sitting with a glass of white wine.

"Hi, I'm glad you came," She smiles. "You look amazing"

Nita smiled and let out a little sigh of relief. She had been on pins and needles waiting for Tris to text her back about coming to dinner. She was sure she had checked her phone 10 times every hour to make sure she hadn't missed a message.

She eyes Tris in her dress, her ass looked perfect, she had always been beautiful, a perfect mix of both her cultures. She had been a little rougher when they were younger, and now she looked sleek and sophisticated and Nita loved the look on her.

Tris smiled back at her, feeling the butterflies in her stomach.

"So do you" It wasn't a lie, she looked amazing with a keyhole top that dipped to her belly button and showed the curve of her breasts but covered enough to not be trashy.

Nita was always one to keep her appearance together, it had been embedded into her personality by her parents. Her hair and nails were always perfectly in place, even when she was dressed down or at the gym.

She had a warm caramel golden skin tone with a full pouty lip that she usually lined with a shiny lip gloss. Her body was tight from her workouts, her perky breasts were on the smaller side, six-pack abs, perfectly rounded ass, and slender thighs. She usually kept her hair straight or in braids, eyebrows always perfectly sculpted. Add in her designer wardrobe and the confidence she carried, It was hard not to notice her when she walked in a room.

"So how have you been? I was shocked to see you had moved to Chicago last year"

Tris chuckles.

"Just how long have you been stalking my IG?" she teases.

"Ehhh, longer than I probably should have been" She admits taking a sip of her wine.

"I'm good, I like it, here, Chicago Fire Department has been good to me. So you really made the whole big shot lawyer thing work for you"

"Yeah, I'm in line to make partner as long as I keep things going here in Chicago."

When they were younger Tris struggled with what she wanted to do with her future and it was a bit frustrating when she and Nita were together that Nita had this clear path. Nita knew when she was 10 years old she was going to be a lawyer like her father.

"Nita, why reach out to me? Did you really just want to catch up?"

Nita sighs. She wanted to be as honest as possible.

"I wanted to apologize for how things went down between us. I was letting my parents control everything about my life. I wasn't fair to you, Tris, I'm so sorry"

Tris is a bit stunned, she will never forget the tearful night she walked away from Nita. She felt like she had a hole in her chest when Nita said she couldn't go against her parents so they could keep seeing each other.

"My parents had threatened to not pay for my education, I was so stressed and scared to stand up to them, I let you go and I never should have done that"

"What changed?" Tris grabs the Old Fashioned that the waiter had just dropped off her and takes a sip. She looked at Nita, she could see the remorse in her eyes.

"I followed the plan, graduated from Spelman, moved to DC for law school at Howard, came home and started at my father's practice and started dating a guy that my mother picked out for me"

Nita takes another deep breath through her nose. Tris could sense the tension radiating off her and she reached across the table and put her hand on top of Nita's as a sign of comfort.

"On the outside, he was everything he should have been, successful senior account executive, good family and we got engaged, just like everyone wanted us to and that's when things changed"

Tris just listens and continues to stroke her hand.

"The first time he hit me, I think I convinced myself I did something wrong, and then it happened again."

"Nita…" Tris feels a tear fall on her cheek.

"I went to my mom, told her what was happening, and do you know what she said? Don't upset him anymore, this was a good match for me"

Tris gasped, she knew Nita's parents were all about their image but this was insane.

"He started getting more controlling, wanting me to quit working, be a housewife like my mother, I swear I think he was tracking my phone to see where I was going. One night he got upset because I was working late, and he went to hit me and I fucking lost it. I packed my stuff and told him if he ever laid a hand on me he'd be a dead man and I'd tell everyone he was an abuser and blow up his image"

"I'm so proud of you for getting out, I would have made sure he never laid a hand on another woman"

"It felt good, and I kicked him in the balls," Nita smiles.

She had felt so alone and isolated. She had picked up the phone so many times to call Tris but she was embarrassed and convinced Tris wouldn't take her call. The day she decided she had enough she was looking in the mirror at a bruise on her arm that she was trying to hide with her shirt and she didn't recognize her own self in her reflection. She thought about Tris that night, how much she missed her and how she couldn't keep living like she was.

"That's my girl," Tris tells her and Nita gives her a smile. It felt good to hear Tris say that again.

"My father wasn't happy, he threw a fit about me messing with his connections and he was so worried about Donovan, he never once was concerned that the man had been hitting me"

"Wow" That was literally all Tris could say. It always looked like Nita's parents worshiped her, like they had the perfect family, never in a million years would she have thought this would happen.

"The minute I stopped doing exactly what they wanted, everything changed"

"I felt like I was in prison when I moved home, so I packed my bags, found an apartment, and quit Daddy's law firm"

"Nita!, Really?" Tris was still in shock, Nita had been so scared of disappointing her parents the three years they were together. It's what ultimately led to their breakup.

Nita looks down and bites her lip, she knew Tris would be shocked at that. It had hurt her so much to have to walk away from her parents but she couldn't continue to live like that.

"Yeah, that's when I started with the firm I'm with now."

Tris was amazed. She never in a million years would have thought Nita would have openly defied her parents and gone against their wishes. She hated the abuse she went through but she proved how strong she was.

"You are living life on your own terms"

"Yeah, I actually asked a few women out on a date. I'd never been comfortable saying I was lesbian. I thought about changing careers but I realized I do love being a lawyer. I wanted to help people. I pitched the creation of a legal aid fund in our Atlanta office and it went over well. I'm setting up the same service here to help people in need. I'm learning to be myself and it feels good"

Tris smiled big, this wasn't the Nita she dated in high school and she wanted to get to know her.

An hour later Tris and Nita are the last two customers in the restaurant after talking non stop. Tris tells her all about what she loved about being a firefighter and her time going through the fire academy.

"I can't believe Caleb is a cop" Nita shakes her head with a smile.

"I can't either, everyone was so shocked when he dropped out of law school after the first semester. But he said it just didn't feel right to him and he loves being a detective now"

"I know how he feels,'' she says shyly. When she raises her head she grimaces at the sight of the waiter looking annoyed as he rang up his receipts from the night.

"What's wrong?" Tris asks.

"I think we might have overstayed our welcome…they look ready to go home"

"Oh man, Come on, I know a few spots we can go to," Tris says hurriedly getting up as she realized how late it was and they had paid the bill forever ago.

As they walked out of the restaurant to the hotel lobby, Nita wasn't sure how hard she should push but she was having the best time she had in a long time.

"I have a bar in my room, umm that is if you want to come up instead of going out…"

Tris sees the hopeful look on her face, was this a bad idea? Part of her felt like it was but she knew for sure she didn't want this night to end just yet. It was as if all the good days that she and Nita had were flowing through her.

If she went upstairs with her, she knew what would happen, she would have her clothes off in minutes. Tris holds out her hand and Nita places her hand in it and squeezes.

"Come on, I know the perfect spot"

Nita breathes a sigh of relief that Tris didn't want their night to end either and she was hopeful it was a step in the right direction.

Tobias had a rough night, he hadn't slept well, it was going to be a rough shift, hopefully, he could catch a nap in his quarters before the bells went off. Seeing Tris with her ex was not how he envisioned the start of his days off. He still wasn't sure what to think as he watched them together when he got to his car.

Shauna was right, Nita was absolutely gorgeous and Tris hadn't texted or called during their time off. They had fallen into a comfortable cycle, texting and talking when they were off shift and not together. The sex was amazing and fun, it felt like a relationship without a formal label. He hated the feeling of not being able to talk to her, and laugh with her. As Friday and Saturday drug on, the feeling in the pit of his stomach grew, she wasn't his, as much as he wanted her to be.

"You alright?" Zeke asks him as they head to the briefing room.

The morning briefing goes by quickly, Tobias keeps his head down even though he could feel Zeke eyeing him. As fast as new traveled around 51, he couldn't believe everyone hadn't already known what was going on. He quickly exits the briefing room once Max finishes his announcements to head to his quarters. The air felt tight when he was around Tris. She was purposely avoiding looking in his direction and Tobias could tell she was antsy the way she moves in her seat.

"Hey Tobias, Can I talk to you for a second?" Tris asks, popping her head into his quarters.

He nods knowing he was about to regret this conversation. She steps in and closes the door and sits on his bed as he leans back in his chair.

"I'm sorry I kind of ghosted you this weekend, I wasn't expecting Nita to show up when she did…"

She couldn't read his expression, but she could feel the tension. She didn't think he had ever been this cold toward her.

"Tris, spare me the pity talk, I mean if you're going to dump me just say so"

"Tobias…" Tris sighed, she hated this, she had been afraid of this, she never wanted to hurt him.

"No, technically you aren't dumping me, this was supposed to be casual, no strings attached because we work together, it was my fault for letting myself think we could make something between us work" He spits out. Tris could hear the coldness in his voice and it made her feel awful.

"I never wanted to hurt you, I care about you Tobias, and I need to figure out what I want for myself. That doesn't mean that we can't still be friends. Just give me some time. I need to sort out my feelings"

It wasn't a line. She needed to sort out her feelings for Nita and she hadn't been expecting her to be so open. The two days they spent together had been nothing like before. They went to dinner again, held hands, and shared a kiss at a bar. It was freeing and something they weren't able to really experience when they were together. Tris had a knot in her stomach when she woke up this morning knowing that she was going to see Tobias and she owed him something.

"Honestly, Tris, I don't need any more friends. We've had this incredible connection that was evident that first night we met, and you've called all the shots this entire time. You've never once given me an opportunity to make something between us." Tobias snaps and Tris feels tears spill from her eyes.

"I'm sorry" she whispers, knowing he was right but it just didn't feel right not giving her and Nita a second shot.

"I guess I was just drinking some happily ever after bullshit thinking you would finally give us a chance" He laughs coldly making Tris feel even worse than she already was.

With that Tobias gets up and leaves, not giving her an opportunity to respond, he needed some space. Even though he had felt it was coming, it didn't make it any easier to swallow.

Tris sits there for a moment, she wipes the tears from her face and takes a deep breath through her nose, and closes her eyes. This was for the best. She and Tobias had gotten carried away. She just needed to give him some time to realize they were over.

Shauna climbs up on top of the roof where she finds Zeke and Tobias sitting on their lawn chairs.

"You going to hide out up here all day? It's freezing" She points out as she looks at the two of them bundled up with beanies on their heads and a thermos full of coffee.

"I've been trying to convince him to come down but he's still brooding" Zeke shrugs.

"Will you two give it a rest?" Tobias groans, throwing his head back dramatically.

"You cannot hide out in your quarters or up here forever Eaton, besides you are going to freeze to death up here if you don't come inside soon." Shauna pushes.

She hated this for Tobias. The first time she could see in all the years she had known him that he was really and truly in love and it blew up in his face.

"I know, I know," Tobias grumbles.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Zeke asks.

"I guess this is karma, all the one-night stands, all the flings, I finally fall for someone and she is not into commitment" Tobias scoffs looking down at his shoes.

"Is that what she said?" Shauna asks as she looks at Zeke who shrugs.

"No, she said she need time to figure things out, which is all she's been saying since we met"

"And you don't believe that she needs to figure this out?" Shauna counters.

"I was going to ask her to give us a real shot and the same day her ex shows up…"

"Eaton, It sounds like she's been upfront with you about not being ready for a relationship. Let her clean up things with her ex, I know I would be confused as hell if one of my exes showed up out of the blue wanting to talk" Zeke points out.

Tobias grimaces knowing Zeke was right. Yes, his feelings were hurt but he didn't want to lose Tris as a friend. Shauna looked annoyed and the last thing Tobias wanted was for there to be lines drawn in the house and people taking sides.

Ambulance 61, Truck 81, Squad 3, Multiple Vehicle Car Accident 727 Wilson Blvd

Tobias sighs as the three of them hop up to climb down the roof. The mess of his love life would have to wait until later.

Nita looks at her phone for what she felt like the millionth time in the past 30 minutes. She closed her laptop realizing she wasn't going to be able to focus for the last 30 minutes of her day.

She had still been on a high after she and Tris reconnected over the weekend. It was perfect. They talked for hours, just like they used to and it was so effortless. She could see how much Tris had changed for the better over the years. In the months she had been in Chicago she'd gone back and forth with herself about reaching out.

Things were so much different with her now, all the things that had driven them apart. She really didn't know what she expected from Tris. Getting back together seemed like a long stretch but when Tris agreed to have dinner with her and they spent hours at a hotel restaurant she had renewed hope.

Tris had gone back to work and she knew she wouldn't really hear from her if she was busy. She lit up like a Christmas tree when late the night before Tris asked if they could have dinner together since she would be off shift the next day. Nita eagerly said yes but now the waiting was killing her.

Her phone buzzes and she bites her lip while she smiles, feeling butterflies in her stomach.

Tris: Want to get drinks before dinner?

Nita: I would love to. Tbh, I've been excited to see you tonight

Tris: Me too. Can you meet at 6?

Nita: Perfect

An hour later Tris and Nita are sitting at a cocktail lounge that Tris thought Nita would like to cozy up in a booth.

"So how was shift? Crazy? I didn't hear from you until almost 11" Nita asks as sets down her drink.

"Crazy doesn't even begin to describe it. We had three car accidents, two fires, and a guy who worked at a bakery and got his arm stuck in one of the industrial mixers…."

Nita rubs her thigh, she appreciated how hard Tris worked. She had joined the Atlanta Fire Department after they were broken up so she was enjoying hearing all the ins and outs of her day. In just the short amount of time, they had been reconnected. She could tell even after a tough call how much she loved what she was doing.

"I want to ask you something but…I'm not sure I want to kill the vibe we have going here.." Nita says gathering her courage. She needed to know this. She didn't want to blow up Tris' life. Now that she was living her life on her own terms, she wanted this chance for her and Tris to be able to live their lives together fully but only if Tris wanted that too.

"Last weekend you said you had gotten close to someone and I know I just kind of showed up"...

Tris takes her hand and laces their fingers together and gives it a squeeze. She had to put Tobias out of her mind if she wanted to take this chance with Nita. He hadn't spoken to her at all during shift and she stayed in her bunk if they weren't on a call. The tension between the two of them was evident. He just needed more time and eventually, he would see that this is what needed to should have never started sleeping together working in the same house, no matter how good the sex between them was after their one-night stand.

"I told him that I needed to figure things out and that was the truth. I've spent so much time wondering what it would have been like for us to not have your parents in the way of us being together and now we have that opportunity. I want to take it, Nita"

"Me too"

Nita smiles and leans in to give Tris a kiss. It felt good to be on the same page with each other about what was happening. The kiss started off soft and sweet but it quickly heated up. They had shared a few light kisses the other day but now their kisses were needy and insistent, pushing past soft to promising and sensual.

"Maybe we should grab some quick to eat instead of going out to dinner," Tris says as she remembers they were in public before things got carried away.

"We could head back to my room.." Nita grins as she picks up her drink again.

When they started dating in high school, Nita was inexperienced. She had been intimidated that Tris was free with her sexuality, already comfortable expressing sexual identity, and was already sexually experienced with guys and girls. Nita on the other hand had been shy and afraid to let anyone see them use public displays of affection for fear of it getting back to her parents. Now that she was living in her truth of who she was, it felt good to do something simple as kissing in a secluded booth, but she wanted more.

"I like the way you think" Tris leans over and whispers in her ear.

Two drinks later and after making a quick stop to grab a quick bite to eat at a sandwich shop around the corner from Nita's hotel room they make it back upstairs. Tris looks around, It was a large suite with a living area and a couch, and a bedroom. Chic and sophisticated, definitely the type of place that Nita would like.

"How much longer are you going to be here?" Tris asks as she watches Nita kick out of her heels and slowly take off her jacket.

"I have a few more months, but I need to start looking for an apartment"

Tris takes off her jacket and slowly starts to undress, wiggling out of her jeans as Nita drops her skirt and blouse leaving her in only her pink bra and panties.

"You're still gorgeous," Tris tells her as she pulls her sweater off.

Nita had filled out since high school, much like her but her breasts had always been full but she could see how her workouts were paying off as her six-pack was amazing. Tris couldn't wait to get her hands on her. Nita smiles as she unhooks her bra and playfully flings it to Tris and backs into the bedroom. Tris catches it laughing and then quickly ditches her undergarments.

Tris smiles as Nita runs her hands over her tattoos kissing each one after she lets her hands explore as she backs up against the bed before climbing it where they start kissing.

"I missed you so much" Nita moans between their deep kisses as their lips devour each other hungrily.

"yo también te extrañé (I missed you too)" Tris murmurs, pulling back to look deep into Nita's eyes and stroke her hair. Nita reaches up to touch her face, savoring the moment between them.

Tris moves down to suckle her breasts, leaving hot wet kisses as she moves from one to the other all while enjoying the moans that escaped Nita's mouth. She continues her path downward after a few minutes. She places her hands on her thighs, spreading them wide while she leisurely explores her womanhood. Creating a pattern of tracing up to her clit and then plunging inside. She repeats it over and over again until Nita is a quivering mess.

"Tris, Please make me cum, I can't take it anymore" Nita begs as she looks down her body to see Tris grin before continuing her work.

Tris doesn't give in, she keeps teasing her, feeling the ache between her own thighs when Nita grabs the back of her head to hold her in place. She picks up the speed of her tongue and focuses on her bundle of nerves, feeling the increasing wetness as Nita starts to whimper. Tris moves to cover her entire vulva with her mouth while plunging her tongue inside. Nita lets out a scream of pleasure and tightens her grip on the back of Tris' head sitting up slightly to watch her work.

"Yes, just like that" she groans.

They keep their eyes locked and Tris doesn't slow down even when Nita's eyes roll back in her head. She flops back on the pillow, while Tris tightens her grip on her thighs to hold her in place.

A high-pitched series of gasps come from Nita as she feels her orgasm roll through her body. She stops moving, Tris kisses up her thighs and then her stomach slowly.

"Fuck, I loved that" Nita grins as she runs her hands over Tris' body.

"My pleasure" Tris was so turned on. Nita had been shy and timid when they were together before, figuring out how her body worked, and what she liked. Now she was confident and vocal, her hands and lips moved with more expertise.

Nita leans up and presses her lips to kiss Tris, tasting herself and pushing Tris to lie on her back. She intertwines their legs, scooting up so that their centers rubbed against each other. Tris angles her body to sit up and Nita scoots in. Their kisses multiply as do their movements as they grind against each other. It doesn't take long for a sheen of sweat to cover both of them.

"Baby" Nita gasps when Tris flips them over. Nita latches on to one of her nipples lavishing it with attention.

They weren't in a hurry, and Tris let Nita continue to explore her body with her hands and mouth.

Nita bites her lip when Tris pushes her to lie on her back and she spreads her legs wide. Nita grabs her ankles to keep her legs straight and spread while Tris pushes them toward her head. Tris is able to sit on top, letting her sex rub fully against Nita's. Tris groans as she watches Nita whimper at the friction. It doesn't take long before they are both panting with Nita clutching and clawing at the sheets as she races to another finish. She grabs Tris by the face, pulling her down so they can kiss passionately while Tris continues to rock against her.

"Yes, just like that" Nita breathes as she feels Tris start to tremble above her. Tris lets out a long moan and stops moving as she climaxes. Nita runs her thumb over Tris' lips admiring the way she smiled with her eyes closed while she calmed down.

Tris eventually moves to lay down on the bed, her heart finally back to its normal pace while Nita goes to grab them both a bottle of water from the fridge in the kitchenette. After Tris downs half a bottle of water, she squeals when Nita grabs her ankle to pull her to the center of the bed.

"Hey" Tris giggles out in surprise.

Nita smiles as she crawls over her with cat-like motions giving Tris a light kiss on the lips.

"I just want to tell you, I'm really happy. I know I didn't deserve a second chance with you but I'm so glad you're here with me"

"Yes you did, we deserve this second chance" Tris whispers, biting her lip.

Nits smiles again then starts a trail down the front of her body swirling her tongue as she goes. Tris gasps when she reaches her center and begins to swirl her tongue. After spending 5 years apart, she was going to enjoy every moment of them being together.

I hope you will see that Nita isn't a bad person, I'm not with characterizing all the people of color as villians or manipulative. Sometimes relationships are cut and dry and Tris is going to have to figure out what she really wants and take responsibility for her actions. See you next week!
