Broken , Chapter 1

Who was Jedi Master and member of the the High Council, Anakin Skywalker?

He was a prodigy child …

Qui-Gon Jin had made an emergency landing on the planet Tatooine and was looking for the parts for the defective ship in Mos Espa. Qui-Gon Jin was on his way to Coruscant from Naboo with his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi and Queen Amidala. They met Anakin in the Watoo junk shop.
He was a force sensitive child, a slave, lived with his Mitter Shmi Skywalker in Mos Espa since he could remember. Qui-Gon Jin was first convinced of Anakin's ability in Podracer races. Not only could he fly the Podracer, he built it himself from scrap parts. He even built a protocol droid he named C3PO. There was nothing he couldn't create or fix.

Qui-Gon Jin did a blood analysis of Anakin which showed that his midi chloriana count is extremely high. The number went beyond the measuring scale, he had more midi chlorians than Grandmaster Joda. Qui-Gon Jin was convinced that Anakin was the chosen one who, according to legend, who would bring the Force in balance. He knew he had to introduce him to the Jedi Council and insist on training him. His idea was unsuccessful. Jedi Council rejected the training for two reasons. The first reason was: he was too old to start the training. It was usual to separate the Force-sensitive children from their parents when they were still babies, to bring them to the Jedi Temple, to let them grow up in the crib ... without parental ties, without love. A Jedi should not be able to have any feelings.

There are no feelings-only peace ...

But Anakin had feelings, he loved his mother. The second reason was that he was scared. Separated from his mother, he received no consolation and the uncertainty about his future made this fear noticeable for the Jedis.

Qui-Gon Jin did not accept the Jedi Council's decision. He has always been a lateral thinker. He informed the Jedi Council that he would train Anakin even without the Council's premission.

The events rolled over. Darth Maul, the apprentice of the Sith Lord Darth Sidius, killed him. Obi-Wan Kenobi had succeeded in raking his master, he killed Darth Maul. For this valiant act he was awarded the rank of Jedi Knight. He was twenty-five years old. He informed the Council that he would train Anakin even without the premission of the Jedi Council, he had promised his Master, his last words were the request to train Anakin. Despite major concerns, the Jedi Council gave its the premission.

The celebrations at the end of the blockade, in which Anakin himself accomplished a heroic deed and was declared the Hero of Naboo, were overwhelming and full of joy, one also celebrated the symbiosis of the Naboo peoples. He would remember her forever, her beauty ... in that pale pink, almost white dress ... like an angel, so beautiful.
Anakin had eyes only for the Queen, who he thought was a maid, who comforted him, to whom he gave a self-carved Japor pendant for to remember him. She assured him that she doesn't need that to remember him, he can be sure has her affection forever. That was a promise he would remember the whole life.
He didn't feel love for her then, not the kind of love he would feel for her later. It was like affection and need to be with her.

To leave her after these celebrations and the cremation of Qui-Gon Jin was difficult for him. He flew to Coruscant with his new Master Obi-Wan Kenobi to begin his training as a Jedi. In the Jedi Temple, a structured, cold, loveless place, he would live with his Master, who would have him under control around the clock, for many years, to be precise, until he was named Jedi Knight. There is still a long time to go and much to learn to obey for a long time. Yes master, he had to say over and over again. Anakin was a lively child, a willing child, he did not make it easy for his Master. Obi-Wan needed the last bit of patience with him sometimes. Fortunately, Obi-Wan was a calm and extremely patient person, someone else would give up long ago.

There were days when Anakin thought of his mother, missed her and tried to talk to Obi-Wan about it. Unfortunately without success. He wanted to see Padmé again too. In his mind she was an angel, his angel. He couldn't and didn't want to talk to his master about her, he wouldn't understand. Anakin thought of her every day. He loved her the way a nine year old could love, certainly not like a man would love a woman, but neither as a sister. He couldn't define it and he didn't care about the nature of this love at that time. Obi-Wan noticed that Anakin hadn't forgotten her, but didn't worry that Anakin had any feelings for Padmé, he was still a child and if he had feelings too, he will make him forget her. Jedis don't have feelings, or shouldn't have ... he knew it himself.

Anakin was very strong in Force and was ahead of his Master in some ways, even at that age. He learned quickly that he was unbeatable in handling the lightsaber, he was better than his classmates. His gift for foreseeing had made him the best young lightsaber fighter, no wonder with that multitude of Midi Chlorian.
He was bored in other subjects. He knew he had to learn that a Jedi is not a lightsaber machine. The training includes a lot of subjects; Mathematics, computer science, navigation, history of the galaxy, culture of the peoples, some languages and then the practical subjects like lightsaber fighting, flying and meditation. And especially with meditation he was always at fight, it was difficult for him. Obi-Wan always had to remind him that he could not connect to the Force without meditating and always had to make sure that Anakin did it. He always had to take the time to meditate with Anakin. Sometimes Anakin just couldn't concentrate, he thought of his mother or Padmé. Obi-Wan sometimes thought he would never be able to get these thoughts out of his head.

Anakin also made a lot of childish nonsense about the way children are. He made bets with his classmates who could cause the bigger fire in the kitchen, or who would manage to remove his Master's lightsaber from the facility belt without the Master noticing. There were also bets as to who could stay away from the Jedi Temple all night without being noticed.

And it is precisely this nonsense that will benefit him later. On nights like this, Anakin went to the Dex diner. He knew this place from numerous visits with Obi-Wan. Whenever Obi-Wan needed specific information, he went to Dex. Dexter Jettster was a Besalisk, a four-armed reptavian from the planet Ojom. He always owed Obi-Wan favors, and Obi-Wan always came back to that because Dex had extensive knowledge of various weapons in the galaxy, and Dex was a very good place to eat. He offered homemade dishes and excellent nerf burgers. His dinner was also a meeting place for criminals, so you could get some information first hand. Anakin benefited from this: information and incognito visits. Dex did not interfere in the affairs of his guests, so Anakin could rely on Obi-Wan would not find out about his nightly visits. Anakin made the connections, it didn't matter that he was a child, it only mattered what he could and Anakin could fix various things, best of all. That was how he made money. He wanted to save to buy his mother free. Obi-Wan didn't know about it.
For all other bets, the other padawans were also punished, they could not be dissuaded from doing so. They were kids and it was fun.

Anakin accompanied Obi-Wan on his missions but was not allowed to take part in the armed conflicts. He was there to help navigate and to fly. He was good at that. It was already apparent then that he would soon be the best pilot in the galaxy. A prodigy child.
