Reina sits in the corner of her couch, her legs crossed in front of her as she taps the down arrow key on the Kamino Nightmare reports. Her cup of cold, half eaten ramen sits between her thighs, forgotten as she searches for any indication that Toda was in the bar beyond Katsuki and Leinei's own firsthand reports. He wouldn't have done this for no reason. It's Toda. He's covered my ass more times than I can count…
The front door's knob jiggles twice, before there's a soft curse and the sound of a key sliding into the lock. It opens a second later, Keigo walking in with a loud heyo! She sighs and closes her laptop, pushing it to the side before grabbing the cup and standing up.
"What is it, Keigo?" she asks as her brother closes the door and locks it again. She's already made it to the kitchen, straining the rest of the liquid from her cup before throwing the rest of it away. "Here to side with Leinei again?"
"Okay. Wow, that didn't take you long to dip from what you told me," he retorts, a little more poison in his voice than normal. She rolls her eyes as he walks in the kitchen, his topaz eyes landing on the lycoris sitting on the counter. "No, actually. I came bearing gifts of the best thing in the world."
"Dick that knows what it's doing?"
"I…I was going to say alcohol," Keigo responds, trying not to gag. "Can-can we not talk about your sexcapades? I knew too much about Endeavor, and even then I didn't know shit."
"Really? When's the last time you got laid?"
"Ah-I-I-um-this-I…"
"Last one was Rumi, wasn't it?" Reina continues, chuckling at her brother's reddening face. "But you both were drunk, so I don't know if that counts. Did you even call her the next day?"
"I tried! She hung up on me," he replies with a small pout. "I'm not like you. I won't hit it and quit."
"When have I ever hit and quit?"
"Do I need to bring up Shinji?" he asks, raising an eyebrow. A strangled noise forms in her throat, causing her to cough to clear it. "Oh, what about-damn what was that girl's name at your agency? No, I don't think you slept with Eia. Have you? No, wait-"
"No she and I didn't sleep together! I don't get involved with my sidekicks like that."
"But you got involved with Toda."
"I'm not starting this argument, Keigo."
"Sorry, I wasn't trying to get in one," he sighs, shaking his head. He reaches into a cabinet and pulls two glasses down. "Did you wanna get drunk or what? I need it after the other night."
"What happened the other night?"
"I…I did something I'm going to regret."
"Did you get drunk and butt dial the President again?"
"I do that one time when I'm eighteen and I can't live it down, huh?" he laughs, unwrapping the paper off the cap on the bottle of whiskey he had brought. "No, I think this is worse. A lot worse. Did you want the vodka mixed into yours?"
"You didn't bring any jaeger or tequila?" she whines, leaning back while holding the counter. He rolls his eyes and pours a three second shot of whiskey into each glass. "But yes please. What happened?"
"I can't really talk about it."
"Then why bring it up?"
"Because it's bugging the hell out of me," he replies, twisting the cap back onto his bottle before breaking into the vodka. "I promised I wouldn't tell anyone, but it's fucking eating at me."
"..." She bites the inside of her cheek as she tilts her head back. "I met someone at the bar the other day," she tells him, trying to change the subject. He raises an eyebrow as he pours a five second shot of vodka into Reina's cup. "No he's not married."
"Thank god." The phrase is a sigh of relief. He holds the glass out to her before recapping the bottle. "I'm guessing he ghosted you?"
"No! He's busy with work, so he can't talk much! He was supposed to be coming over tonight, but I guess he's running late," she mumbles, pouting a bit. "I guess if he shows up, I can introduce you two."
"Don't tell me you brought him back here."
"I did! He even made me pancakes the morning after."
"God you're obsessed already," he laughs, turning to lean against the counter. "What's his name?" he adds, taking a small sip out of his glass as Reina downs half of it in one go. "I'm guessing he's good in bed if you haven't run back to Endeavor yet."
"Oh shut up!" She grumbles, playfully punching his arm. "I thought you didn't want to know about my sexcapades?"
"Just wanting to make sure you're being safe. His name?"
"Atsuhiro," she says proudly, taking a small sip before she pulls herself onto the counter with a soft oof. "And let me tell you that man is good with his tongue, fingers and his-"
"Nope, nope, don't need to hear that much. That's fucking gross. Oh god."
"You asked."
"Not that much detail!"
"But anyway. We haven't put a label on what we are yet, but it's nice to be able to talk to him when we can. He's super sweet, and he gave me that flower. I don't even know how he knew I liked them."
"Must be magic," he hums, choking on a swallow of his drink as there's a knock at the door. Reina's flushed face broadens into a grin as she sets her glass down and hops off the counter. Keigo raises an eyebrow as she nearly trips over her feet to get to the door. There's the click and a cheerful squealed greeting. He finishes the rest of his drink and turns back to the counter to make himself another drink before pulling down an extra glass.
"Keiiiigoooo!" Reina sings, dragging along a pleasantly amused Atsuhiro behind her. The curly haired man goes stiff seeing the familiar red wings of the number three, feigning a smile as he internally panics. "Atsu, this is my brother, Keigo. Keigo, this is-"
"Atsuhiro!" He greets with a smile over his shoulder, holding out the newly made drink to his sister's "boyfriend". "It's nice to meet you. You can just call me Hawks. Sorry if I crashed your date night with Rei."
"Oh no, if anything it's me crashing your lovely sibling time together! My little storm cloud says she doesn't get a lot of time with you or your sister, so it's wonderful to see you two spending some time together," Atsuhiro replies as he takes the glass and wraps his free arm around Reina's waist. She lets out a soft purr of contentment, wrapping her arms around him and burying her face in his side. Keigo smiles as he watches the man place a gentle kiss on her head.
"Nah, I showed up unannounced. Haven't gotten piss drunk with Rei in a while, so thought it would be fun to forget shit for a while and relive the old days," he says, taking a sip of his drink. "So, what do you do for work?"
"Oh, I'm freelance," Atsuhiro tells him, nodding. "I do whatever the job needs of me at the moment."
"Really? Vigilante work?" He jokes, the cup still pressed to his lips. "Or are you a villain?"
"Oh no, nothing like that!" the curly haired man chuckles, sipping his own drink as Reina looks up at him with doey eyes. "I am merely a showman. I do where my audience demands."
"Oh that makes sense," Keigo responds, taking another sip and nursing the cup to his chest. "Reina, if you look at him any harder, the poor man is going to burst into flames. Let him go and relax. Yeesh, I swear you have no manners."
"Oh suck my dick," Reina grumbles, unlatching herself from Atsuhiro to grab her glass.
"Last I knew of, you didn't have one," Keigo sings, swirling the alcohol in his glass around as Atsuhiro laughs. "Oh he likes my jokes! We're gonna get along great~!"
"I believe so as well," the older man chuckles. "It's very nice to meet you, Keigo."
"You as well, Atsuhiro. Treat her well, alright? She deserves it."
"Oh yes, I know," the man assures, smiling at Reina, who blushes and looks down at her cup. His smile is gentle and loving, his head tilted to the side as he takes her in. The tight tank top with a juice stain from her half eaten dinner, and her shorts leaving little of her toned thighs to the imagination. "She deserves the world."
"I wouldn't say the world," Keigo hums, only to laugh as she punches his shoulder. "Ow, ow, don't bite my head off!"
"I didn't, I punched you."
"You two are quite the pair," Atsuhiro comments with a soft chuckle. He takes a large swallow of his drink, his face flushing from the burn. "How is Leinei doing, moving into the dorms today?"
"I dunno. I tried to ask and she bit my head off," Reina grumbles, scratching the back of her head as she looks away. "Keigo?"
"Oh she's fine," he assures. "Though she did punch one of her classmates."
Oh, it seems our Dabi has rubbed off on her.
"She did what?!" Reina demands, horrified. "Why?"
"Supposedly he called her a rude name and she was already in a bad mood. She was good when I went over to the Bakugos' house the other day. I guess something happened."
"You say that like you know something, Kei," Reina grumbles. "Is that what has your feathers in a twist?"
"Loose lips sink ships. Or ground birds in my case," her brother laughs. "Can't say."
"Well, what are they doing for it?"
"She has three days detention. The boy has two for being a jerk in the first place. Her teacher called me to let me know in case she didn't bother to."
"Great…"
"I'm sure it's just a phase," Atsuhiro assures, stepping over to her and wrapping an arm around her shoulders as Keigo downs the rest of his drink. "She'll come around. Just work on it, okay?"
"Oh I don't think she'll claw her way out of this hole so easily," Keigo sings, alcohol emboldening his tongue. Reina's face turns bright red as she looks away from the men standing in her kitchen. "She tried to hand our sister over to a psychopath. Then she got mad when I told Leinei to go stay at her boyfriend's house."
"They're dating!?"
"Just how far out of the loop are you? The pomeranian has been showing signs of being hopelessly in love with her for months."
"Oh? That's wonderful news!" Atsuhiro says, beaming. "A first relationship is always something to celebrate!"
"Exactly!" Keigo agrees, lifting his empty glass. His face is starting to turn as red as a strawberry, his smile easier than ever. "And they're good for each other. He just needs to get his shit together and protect her as much as she protects him."
"Hmm.." Reina hums.
"I'm sure they'll both grow into their own eventually. They are still both children after all. It'll happen when it happens."
"But other than punching her classmate, she's doing great. Got her dorm all decorated and picked up extra lessons with Eraserhead. I should call and check on her again later. Made sure she hung that poster that I snuck in her stuff."
"Why are you sneaking stuff in her things?"
"Because I'm a doting big brother who adores spoiling his favorite sister!"
"No, you're just so far up your own ass, you forget what fresh air smells like," Reina grumbles.
"Oh shut up, you're just jealous that Lei has always had a good relationship with me."
"Suck my dick."
"My dear, that's what I get to tell you," Atsuhiro coos, cupping her chin back and leaning forward to kiss her gently. Keigo gags into his glass before setting it in the sink and stretching his arms over his head.
"That's my cue to get the fuck out before you fuck her on the counter," Keigo grunts, shaking his head. "It was nice meeting you, Atsuhiro. I'll call you later, Reina."
"Ride the train home!" Reina calls as Keigo waves his hand over his head walking to the door. "You don't need to drink and fly!"
"Ah, I'm not even drunk!" he laughs, making a show of bouncing on each foot and holding the alternating wing out while he taps his nose. Reina rolls her eyes as he settles himself on both feet, his hand on the door. "Bye guys!"
"Bye Keigo!" Reina calls back as he walks out of the door and closes it behind him. She sighs and sets her glass down on the counter, glancing over at the barely three quarters full bottles. "He said he wanted to get piss drunk and then he dips out. At least he left the booze."
"Mmm, yes," Atsuhiro coos, redirecting her gaze back to him. She melts as he places his glass down in favor of holding her hip. "But it gives us time alone…so I'll have to thank him the next time I see him."
"Ri-right," Reina breathes, her legs trembling as he dips his head down again, brushing his lips against hers. Her eyelids flutter, and it makes him hum with amusement. "Atsu…"
"Yes, my little storm cloud?"
"...do you think I'm a bad sister?"
His heart breaks hearing her voice crack, the sadness in her words. He sighs softly, wrapping his arms around her and dipping his head down so his forehead sits on her shoulder. She hugs him back, gripping the back of his shirt as she struggles not to cry.
"I think..the way you have gone about things with your sister is very flawed," he murmurs, feeling her stiffen and a small whimper escape her throat. "But, you still have a chance to fix it. You just have to take that step forward and stop clinging to the past. Because the future is all you have left."
"I know..I just.."
"I can help you write a letter for her. If that helps. Maybe you should write a few letters, in case something happens. So she knows that no matter what happens, you do love her."
"That's…that's a good idea."
"I'm glad you agree," he replies, pulling away slightly to cup her cheeks and wipe the tears from her eyes. "Why don't we go get comfy in bed and we can start those letters?"
"Yeah..yeah I'd like that."
Leinei sneezes into her arm, shaking her head. Katsuki glances up as she looks around. He reaches over and feels her forehead with the back of his hand. She raises an eyebrow at him, pulling back a bit.
"Katsu?"
"I'm just making sure you're not sick," he mumbles, his lips screwed up to the side. "You've been off today and yesterday. I've been worried."
"I'm fine, Katsu," she assures, smiling at him. "Just..dealing with stuff mentally and emotionally."
"You're supposed to talk to me," he reminds her, sitting on the bed next to her and interlacing their fingers together. He squeezes her hand gently, looking at the door of his dorm. She leans over, laying the side of her head on his shoulder. "I don't have your quirk, remember?"
"I know," she mumbles. "I just…it's…it's complicated."
"I could gather that much, just from how you're acting. I mean I want to punch that extra from B, but that's not like you. What's going on in your head, Lei?"
"..." She squeezes his hand. He turns his head to kiss the side of hers, resting his chin on it as he closes his eyes. "I can't tell you. It'll…"
"Leinei, it'll what?" he murmurs, at which she shakes her head and hugs him. "Come on, Short Stack. I'm not going to play the pronoun game with you. Either tell me now, or I'm going to assume your brother is no better than your sister."
"That's rude, Keigo is way better than Reina," she replies, her voice muffled by his shirt. He chuckles and rubs her back. "But if I tell you…you're going to look at me differently…I don't know if you'll still want to be with me after I tell you."
"Are you cheating on me? Damn that didn't take long," he jokes, but his heart clenches. He tightens his arms around her as she laughs weakly. "I really hope you aren't. Oh god it isn't with Kaminari, is it? If so, that's a downgrade."
"I'm going to gag if you say that again," she groans, shaking her head. "No, I'm not cheating on you. I just…"
If you tell anyone, I'll burn them in front of you.
"It's special training," she says, looking up at him. "And it's really stressful, and I'm not allowed to really give full details on it. I just have to leave campus for it once a week. It's a lot to deal with and a struggle to balance. I promise I'm not cheating on you with Denki."
"So just training?" he clarifies. She nods. He sighs and visibly relaxes. "Thank god. You didn't have to hide that from me. I would have understood that. Hell, it would explain the bruise on your face."
"I told you I got that from Keigo."
"True, but in my defense, you came home in a funky mood."
"It was also like one in the morning."
"So you're chalking that up to being tired?"
"Will it get me out of trouble?"
"Mmm," he hums, tilting his head and closing his eyes. A smile cracks his lips, her face flushing. "Maybe. Might have to work a little harder for it."
"What? Let you win a spar?"
"I was more thinking you'd wear my hoodie all the time. Except in class, but around the dorms and stuff."
"I'm okay with that," she says, her face burning bright pink as he chuckles. "I love your hoodies. They're comfy."
"Then you're forgiven."
"Yay," she laughs, throwing her arms around his neck and both of them falling over on the bed. He chuckles and wraps his arms around her waist, smiling at her as she giggles. "You're mushier than you used to be."
"Only around you," he replies. "Though if you tell anyone I get like this, I will vehemently deny it."
"I know, Katsu. This side is only for me."
"Damn right. And, one more thing?"
"Yes?"
"It's hot as fuck when you get mad. Maybe get mad at me sometime?"
"Do something to piss me off then. I warn you though, it's hard to piss me off when it comes to you."
"Then I'll try extra hard."
"Whatever makes you happy, Katsu."
How much longer am I going to lie to him..?
