Rescue training. Basic crap. You can do this. The Commission made sure you knew how to do this from day one. It's not hard.

"Deku don't move them without making sure they don't have a head injury first!" Yaoyorozu yells as she creates a stretcher for the actor the examiners hired. Leinei fastens the neck collar around the still person, giving them a bright reassuring smile.

"Was there anyone else in the building with you?" Ochaco asks, tilting her head as Yaoyorozu lays the stretcher down.

"No. Just me."

"Alright," Leinei continues, looking at the other girls. "Uravity, you can get her legs. Creati, her shoulders. I'm going to hold her head and we lift just enough to get her on the stretcher."

"Understood," they say, moving to their positions and getting her onto the stretcher with minimal issues. The actor relaxes, closing her eyes. "Tailman, Sugarman, once you're done bracing that building, this woman needs to go to the recovery and medical tent," Yaoyorozu calls. They yell back an affirmation, getting back to helping Sero secure a fallen wall of a building nearby. The dark haired woman looks at Leinei, who lowers her visor. "Do you sense anyone else in the rubble?"

"Two more signatures, but they're small. Could be kids around the ages of six or seven," she replies. "Uravity, if you can get the building levitating, Creati and I can brace the rubble and get them out and secured."

"Roger!"

The three of them work together to get the building up, Yaoyorozu creating scaffolding and brackets to keep the cement from falling back down. Leinei crawls in, calling for the "survivors", only to get the two responses she was looking for. She crawls towards them, smiling as she sees the two "kids" curled in a corner, their heads covered with their hands over them.

"Hey, I'm Empathia," she greets them. "Did you guys hit your head? Any neck or back pain?"

"No ma'am," the taller one says, shaking his head to prove it. "But my friend hurt her leg. I don't think she can move it."

"Okay, that's fine. Can you move?" she asks. He nods. "Alright, I'm going to give you the end of my scarf, okay? Use it to pull yourself up." She presses the button in her ear that Yaoyorozu had made at the beginning of the second part to help communication. "Creati, one of the kids has a hurt leg." she tells her, helping the boy up. "I'm going to have to splint it before I move her. The boy seems to be relatively uninjured, he can move fine by himself. If Froppy is back from taking the last wave of injuries, could you send her in to get him? I don't want to leave the girl by herself."

"Understood," Yaoyorozu says. "Froppy is heading in now. She has the stuff to make a splint."

"Roger." She lets go of the button and smiles at the "kids" in turn. "I have a friend coming in to help us. You're going to go with her while I help your friend."

"No, I don't want to leave her!"

"You're not leaving her," Leinei assures, placing her hand gently on the boy's head as she tilts her own. "You guys can go to the recovery tent together, but it's not safe in here for now. I'll make sure she gets out right after I splint her leg."

"Empathia, I'm here," Asui says, crawling over to them. "I'm Froppy, ribbit. I'm here to take you to the tent."

"Actually he's going to wait outside for us," Leinei informs her. "He doesn't want to leave his friend."

"Right. I'll stay with him."

"Go with Froppy. I'll walk you two to the recovery tent after, promise."

"Okay…"

Leinei climbs down into the cornered hole with the splint as Asui and the boy make their way out of the rubble. She sits on one knee beside the girl, inspecting the hurt leg.

"What's your name?" she asks.

"Kala," the girl replies, watching as Leinei places the rods on either side of the leg, trying to make it as straight as possible. "You said your name was Empathia right?"

"Yep, that's me!" she assures, grinning as she inspects the wound more to see which end she should tie off first. "Okay, this next part may hurt a small bit, alright? But you're a big girl and you're really brave, so you'll be okay. I want you to count to three for me then inhale really big."

The girl does so, letting out a soft whine as Leinei ties the split off towards her thigh. After another count and another breath, she ties the ankle. She commends the girl and hears the building shift overhead.

"Head down," she orders, quickly shielding the girl with her own body and protecting her head and neck. A few pebbles of rubble drop down, bouncing off her back and skittering to the side. Her earpiece beeps.

"Apologies!" Yaoyorozu says. "A secondary villain attack has started. Aftershocks are making the building unstable. Please remain where you are while we get it stabilized."

"Understood," Leinei replies, having pressed her finger to it. "Stay safe out there. We can sit tight in here."

"You do the same. I'm having Sugarman reroute with Cellophane to get the building restabilized. Give us about three minutes."

"It looks like we're staying here for a minute or two," Leinei tells the girl, smiling as she slowly uncurls herself from around the girl. "Did any of the rocks hit you?"

"No, I'm fine."

"Great. My friends are working on getting us out safely. In the meantime, what's your favorite color? Mine's blue."

"I like orange."

"Oh yeah? One of my friends has that color all over his uniform. I think you'd like it."

"Really?"

"Mmhm. What's your favorite animal?"

"I like lizards."

"That's awesome! I have a classmate in the same year as me that resembles a lizard. I've even met a lizard mutation quirk before. He was pretty cool."

"Empathia, Cellophane and Sugarman are almost done. How are you two holding up?"

"We're good. Just talking."

"Good. The other evacuee is getting antsy."

"Understood." Leinei smiles at the girl. "They're almost done. Here, climb on my back and we can get out of here."

She turns around and helps the girl climb up so she can sit comfortably. There's a small creaking above, a few more pebbles raining down from the roof. She waits for the word from Yaoyorozu before starting through, careful not to jostle the girl too much until they get out. Once they're out, Leinei smiles at the boy who lets out a breath of relief.

"Sorry if we worried you," she says, looking over her shoulder at the smiling girl. She then looks at Yaoyorozu. "I'll take these two to the recovery tent. I'll be right back."

"Understood. Be safe."

"When am I not?" she jokes, taking the boy by the hand and easing them towards the tent through the path Asui and Shoji cleared out previously away from the battle happening between Gang Orca and the others. It's only a minute or two of walking before they get there, Leinei relaying the extent of the injuries and showing the split to the people there before placing them in the lower risk tent.

"You did really well in there," the girl says, dropping the facade as Leinei sits her on a cot with her leg elevated. "Keeping calm, keeping me talking, reassuring him. Not many kids your age are capable of that."

"Well I try," she laughs, rubbing the back of her head. The "boy" clears his throat, getting her attention.

"We will take a point from you for the promise though. You never know what'll happen in the field and making promises like that can be detrimental to the victim. Good job otherwise."

"Thank you, I'll remember to work on that. I hope your leg feels better soon."

With that she walks out, letting out a soft sigh of relief as she looks towards the fight, knowing better than to get involved when her quirk for the time being was better served helping evacuate people. To her right, she sees a familiar mop of dark hair coming out a tent. She tilts her head, seeing Shindo rub the back of his head sheepishly.

"Oh hey! Are you okay?" she asks, getting him to look at her. His face turns pink seeing her, his throat closing seeing the way her shirt had ridden up and bunched under her chest and the way her skirt had a tear in it from crawling through rubble. He clears his throat and looks away.

"I-I'm fine. Just got hit in the head by Orca when the fight started. They were just making sure I didn't have a concussion before sending me back out. You?"

"Bringing some evacuees to the recovery tent. Had to crawl through some rubble to get them. I saw you when we first started though," she says, offering him a smile. "You're really good at this. I guess that's what we should expect of Ketsubutsu second years."

Don't explode at the compliment. Don't ask her to marry you.

"Thanks. You guys aren't doing too bad yourselves. But when you have someone with a quirk like yours, I guess that's to be expected," he offers, giving her a smile of his own. "Keep up the good work…er…"

"Empathia is my hero name," she tells him. "Yours?"

"Grand."

"That's kinda cool! I better get back out there. Be safe!"

"You…too…"

The exam ended not too long later, the results being passed around. Leinei was one of the last ones to get hers, almost crying with relief when she saw she passed with only a few points deducted from her score. The other students around her were cheering, excited and happy as the number of failed examinees were announced.

"Katsu," she calls, waving her paper in the air as she finds her boyfriend and friends. "Katsu I passed-"

She stops talking, seeing the look of anger and shock on his face while he reads the paper. Eijirou and Denki shrink back slightly as he balled the paper up in his hands, gritting his teeth.

"What happened?" she asks, confused. "Did you not pass-?"

"Shut up," he growls, walking past her. Eijirou nods quietly, confirming her question. She goes after him, reaching for his hand. He jerked it away and glared over his shoulder at her. "Later. Let me calm down then we can talk."

Well..at least he's warning me.

"Okay. I'll see you on the bus," she tells him, letting him go. Her shoulders slump and she sighs, shaking her head.

"What score did you get?" Denki asks, leaning over her shoulder as she holds her paper up again. "A 94!? How the hell did you manage that?"

"I honestly thought it would be lower," she remarks, reading through her deductions. "I only got deducted for two things."

"False promise..and casual talking during an active disaster and battle zone," Denki reads. "Oooh, who were you talking to? That Ketsubutsu guy?"

"Hm? Shindo? Yeah. He was getting checked out at the medical tent. We came out at the same time. Not a big deal."

"If you say so," Denki says teasingly. He looks down at their dirtied costumes. "We should probably get changed before they give us our licenses."

"That would probably be the best idea," she agrees, smiling despite the worry for her boyfriend and the way he was hurting. I should do something nice for him later. I think he'd like that.

Leinei: {New picture message)

Leinei: {I officially am the proud holder of a provisional hero license!}

Keigo: {That's amazing! I'm so proud of you, Lei Bay!I know for a fact you blew that shit out of the water!}

Reina: {It's so shiny. I love the new hero name. You're doing amazing.}

Keigo: {Did Katsuki pass?}

"Hey, Salinsa!"

She looks up from her phone, looking for the person who called her name as she turns partially. A small smile breaks on her lips as she locks her phone and waves at Shindo, who doubles over once he's in front of her. He takes a few seconds to catch his breath before standing up and showing her his license.

"Awesome, you passed too!" she says, grinning at him. "That's amazing! Maybe we'll work together at some point."

"Yeah, hopefully," he replies, returning the grin with one of his own. "So, um, it's still okay if I text you, right? Your boyfriend didn't seem to be enthused about it."

"I mean, I don't personally mind."

"Great! And if your rules ever change about allowing you off campus, maybe we can grab lunch sometime. My treat."

"Well I don't say no to free food. Besides, getting lunch with friends is always fun, as long as Denks and Ei aren't stealing my food," she laughs. "I'd love that."

Everytime she says friends, my heart breaks a little more.

"And if your situation with Bakugo ever changes, you can let me know," he tells her, his grin softening into a smile. "I've been told I'm a good listener."

"I don't see it changing, but I'll keep that in mind," she replies, her smile falling a little bit. "I should actually go get on the bus to head back, but thank you. Have a good day, Shindo."

"You too, Salinsa."

I knoww, these chapters were short. i just wanted to show that well Leinei did pick up useful crap from the Commission. I still heavily dislike them and love any slander against them. The next chapter is definitely a little longer and we get actually decent Short Temper content for the first time in forever. I hope you're having a wonderful day!
