Adventures With Noelle And Tina, Part 1
And now Noelle is going to be joining the party! Another long chapter this time and I hope you guys like it!
...
Cyber City was beautiful, but dealing with the first obstacle made Frisk slightly glad both Ebott and Hometown were so much smaller.
Because the traffic here was hell.
You only had five seconds to get across the street before the cars tried to mow you over, and eight seconds with the walking cars. No one cared if you were still in the street when the light changed. They'd just mow you over. Thankfully, as Frisk found out when a walking car mowed them down, the consequences weren't nearly as deadly. She didn't know if it was something Queen or someone built into the system or her own powers, but the second the car touched them, they turned intangible and teleported back to their starting place, shaken but unhurt.
Frisk ended up picking up Tina to make them both a smaller target and running across, and finally made it to the other side. There they found two Swatchlings sweeping the street for some big event that was happening. Frisk made a note to stay away, because the traffic was probably going to be even WORSE.
They ended up having to head through some dark, creepy alleyway and encountered two light teal, dolphin-like Darkners known as Poppups with big red eyes, way too many teeth, a large square on top of their head, and orange and yellow springy legs. Thankfully, blocking the large ads they sent out immediately soothed them and they turned pink, and with a cheerful, "...HAPPI..." wandered away.
After making their way through the alleyway, and finding 20 Dark Dollars someone had lost in a trashcan, Frisk and Tina came upon Noelle, who was standing in the alleyway looking lost and frightened.
"Noelle! You're okay!" Frisk called out in relief as she and Tina ran up to her.
Noelle gasped and whirled around, though relaxed when she saw them. "F-Frisk! Tina! What are you-"
"Oh Noelle Sweetie" Queen's voice crooned from somewhere in the distance.
Noelle gasped and ducked into a darkened alcove, covering her mouth. "Don't let her find me..." she pleaded.
Frisk and Tina both nodded, right before Queen walked up. "Noelle Sweetie Darling Honey Where Are You" the cybernetic monarch called out, question marks lighting up her visor. She laughed. "We're A Team Now Remember? You Still Have To Be My Willing Minion."
She then turned and saw Frisk and Tina. "...Frisk. Adorable Bean Tina. It Appears... Our Comrades Have Pressed The Escape Key On Us." She pouted. "... So It Has Come To This... In Order To Find Our Teams..." She smiled in a friendly way. "We Must Form An Uneasy Truce..."
Before Frisk or Tina could even answer, Berdly's voice called from the distance. "Queen! My splendid Queen! Where are you!"
Queen gasped, stiffening and putting her hands to her head. "Oh No Don't Let Him Find Me" And with that, Queen literally jumped into the alcove Noelle was in, leaping up right above her and stretching out, pressing her hands and feet against the walls, literally right above Noelle, whose eyes were bugged out as she stared up at Queen, covering her mouth. Tina gasped but Frisk quickly shushed her, realizing that somehow Queen hadn't seen Noelle.
Berdly came hurrying down the alley. "Ah, Frisk. And... whoever this is. NOT the lifeforms I was looking for."
"Well, hi to you too." Frisk said, annoyed.
"... Hmm? Where's the rest of the C+ Squad? Don't tell me you got abandoned!? HA! HAHA! That's what you get for trusting Susie! HA!" Berdly laughed, then yelped as little Tina kicked him in the shins. "OW!"
"That's for being mean to Frisk and Susie!" Tina told him.
"Tina, we don't kick people. That's not how to handle a conflict. Remember what I told you?" Frisk scolded her.
"That we need to use our words." Tina said reluctantly. She looked at the ground. "Sorry." she mumbled to Berdly.
"Good." Frisk told her approvingly, then turned to Berdly. "For your information, we split up to cover more area. They didn't abandon me. And what about you? Where's Noelle and Queen, huh?" Berdly flinched slightly at this and Frisk now felt a bit bad.
"H... Huh? Noelle? Queen? They're just... busy retro gaming somewhere!" Berdly said defensively. He grinned. Frisk could tell it was fake. "I bet they're waiting for me on the player select screen! Listening to strangely groovy music! HAHA! HA! HA!" He then sighed. "So it's come to this. In order to find our respective teams... It APPEARS... We must form an uneasy truce..."
"What the" Queen yelled from the alleyway. "Who The Beep Said You Could Double Trucies"
"Huh? Did you hear something?" Berdly asked, startled.
"No. You must be hearing things." Frisk said innocently. She didn't really give a crap if Berdly found Queen, but if he discovered Noelle, that would be a problem.
"Honk Honk No It's Just The Sounds Of The City" Queen said from the alleyway and Frisk had no clue how she expected Berdly to believe THAT. Berdly wasn't THAT stupid.
"Oh, okay." Berdly said and Frisk blinked at this. "Hmph. Well I'll be ahead. Don't be LATE!" He walked away, but Frisk noticed his smile droop when he likely thought she couldn't see him. He does know. He just doesn't want to admit it, because the idea of them ditching him is far harder to take. she thought to herself. Berdly was still a jerk, but now she sort of felt sorry for him.
Queen hopped out of the alleyway, thankfully STILL not noticing Noelle. "Good Work You Two. Now As Part Of Our Truce (The Better One) Keep Distracting Berdly And Find Noelle. For You See... Berdly... He's..." She hesitated, then sighed with a smile. "OK There's Nothing Wrong With Him He's Just Annoying."
"Yeah, I got that." Frisk muttered.
"Glad You See It Too. Toodles." Queen told her before hurrying away.
Noelle sighed in relief and hurried out of the alleyway as soon as Queen was out of sight. "Frisk, Tina, I... um... if it's okay... G-got any room for another truce?"
"Of course." Frisk reassured her.
Tina nodded. "We're glad you're okay and got away from that meanie!"
"Yeah, don't worry, Noelle. Just stick with us. We'll find Ralsei and Susie, seal the fountain, and get you out of here." Frisk reassured her. "I'm sorry you got caught up in this whole mess."
"T-Thanks, Frisk. I-I really don't understand what's going on... We were just studying in the computer lab and everything turned dark and the floor disappeared and we fell, and then we were here, and Queen captured us and she somehow already knew my name and she keeps talking about fountains and Knights and wanting me to be her peon... This is all so crazy! How are you handling it so well?!" Noelle stammered.
"This isn't my first Dark World." Frisk admitted. "You see, that story I told you and Miss Alphys... well, it was kind of true, we did help Ralsei and seal a fountain, but... this all happened in a Dark World that was in the school's supply closet. Susie and I fell through just like you guys did, and..."
Noelle listened as Frisk told her the whole story, her eyes just getting wider and wider. "You, S-Susie... you're heroes of some weird prophecy? You went through another Dark World, stopped a evil king, and sealed a fountain that was in the unused classroom?"
"Yep, that's pretty much it." Frisk confirmed.
Tina hugged Frisk. "Isn't my big sister cool! She saved an entire world!"
"Well, yeah, but this is all so crazy!" Noelle replied. "I mean, I believe you, you're obviously telling the truth since I'm literally living it, but this is all so unreal! Are you guys SURE this isn't all some dream?"
"It's not." Frisk told her. "It is crazy, which is why I came up with that whole cover story to begin with, but it's all real too. Trust me, Susie and I were thinking the same thing at first, but this definitely isn't a dream, unless you can actually get hurt in your dreams. I even still have the scars from my fight with King." She put her hand comfortingly on Noelle's shoulder. "I know it's hard to take in...heck, we're all still getting used to the fact that we entered two entirely different dimensions. But I'm here for you, and so's Tine, and Susie, and Ralsei."
Noelle nodded shakily and tried to smile. "Thanks, Frisk. And...I'm sorry you guys got caught up in this too, but I'm glad to have you all here. Speaking of which, um, any idea on where Susie is?"
"There was a fork in the road, and we were looking for you and the way to the fountain, so we split up. Tina and I took this path, and Susie went with Ralsei up the other one. I'm not sure exactly where they are, but we'll find them."
"You guys were looking for me? Even after I-I agreed to join Queen?" Noelle asked softly.
"Yeah, of course! We know you didn't join willingly." Frisk reassured her.
Tina nodded. "We know you wouldn't do anything mean, Noelle!"
"E-Even Susie? Susie wanted to find me?" Noelle asked softly.
"Yeah, of course. She was really worried about you when you got captured." Frisk told her. "We all were."
"Susie was actually worried about me?" Noelle whispered, her eyes shining.
"Yeah, of course. She was really upset that Queen took you. I told you, Susie cares. She just likes hiding it." Frisk told her, giving her a smile. "Now, c'mon, let's go find her and Ralsei."
Noelle nodded. "L-Let's."
"Oh, and you can have this! I made lots of drawings, and the Dark World turned them into cool armor!" Tina said happily, pulling out her final chestplate from her backpack, which had a drawing she did of her stuffed dog Spot on it. "When we get back home, I'll make an extra special drawing just for you."
"Wow, this looks so cool! Thanks, Tina!" Noelle said happily, ruffling Tina's hair before putting on the armor.
Frisk then noticed something shining in the alleyway Noelle and Queen had been hiding in. "Oh, awesome, there's a Save Star here." she said in relief and touched it.
"What's a Save Star?" Noelle asked in utter confusion, then gasped as the golden magic surrounded her, healing any wounds she might have had.
"Sorry, I should have warned you about that." Frisk said sheepishly. "Um, you see, I can see these weird stars that Ralsei says are points of magic in the Dark World, and if I touch them, they heal my entire party. He also said something about teleporting if I'm in grave danger, but that hasn't happened yet, so I don't know if I can really do that. I mean, I did kind of teleport us back to the traffic stop when a car nearly hit us, but I don't know if that was me or some safety feature this world has, so..."
"Wait. Wait. Wait. So you fell into this world yesterday and gained these new powers you never had before, plus you and Susie are heroes of an ancient prophecy?" Noelle asked.
Frisk gave a nonchalant shrug. "Pretty much, yep."
"Whoa, so you, and me and Berdly and Susie, we were all isekaied!" Noelle gasped.
Frisk blinked in confusion. "Eesa-what?"
Noelle blushed. "S-Sorry, it's a genre of anime where a person is transported into another world, either by dying and being reincarnated into it, or being summoned. You're totally the second one, Frisk, since you're a hero of a prophecy and you were clearly brought here on purpose by something."
"I've never seen an anime, but I'll take your word for it. It really fits."
Noelle smiled with an embarrassed blush. "I'll show you guys some once we get out of here."
Frisk grinned. "Sounds great!"
"Yeah, I wanna see an anime!" Tina cheered, though she had no idea what an anime was.
They headed down the alleyway where they came upon a strange puzzle with two mouse sized doors reading Out and In, two green blocks with reverse arrows on them and a little bell. There was a small digital info card on the wall between the doors. Frisk read the directions aloud. "Mice will rotate ninety degrees when they collide with the block. Citizens must push blocks to get mice in the holes. Use the bell to reset."
"M-M-M-M-Mice?" Noelle gasped. "Why did it have to be mice?! They're so creepy... I'm sorry, Frisk, but can you, um..." She looked highly embarrassed.
"Don't worry, I got it." Frisk told her with a smile.
"And I'll protect you from the mice!" Tina told Noelle proudly, standing as tall as she could.
Noelle chuckled despite her nervousness and ruffled her hair. "Thanks guys." She moved against the wall, trying to get as far from the puzzle as possible as Frisk studied the puzzle, trying to have it set right before she released the mice, not wanting to accidentally send them at Noelle.
"Okay, if they go ninety degrees when they hit a block, they'll go this way, so I need to put the other block right here?" She walked the path to check her calculations. "No, right here! Okay, I think I got it! Noelle, I'm going to release the mice now, okay?"
Noelle nodded as Tina stood in front of her protectively. "O-Okay."
"Here goes." Frisk stepped on the pad, hoping she had gotten the puzzle right. Thankfully she had and the mice zoomed into the "In" hole.
Noelle sighed in relief. "T-Thanks, guys. Hopefully that won't happen again!"
They crossed the completed puzzle and walked further down. A Virovirokun was blocking the path, and came right at them, pulling them into an encounter.
"H-huh!? What's going on!? What are we doing!?" Noelle asked, shaking a bit and grabbing Frisk's arm. "Why is that monster attacking us?"
"It'll be okay. Sometimes Darkners start battles or encounters if they're startled or need something. The best way to get out of the fight is to Act." Frisk told her soothingly.
"Act?" Noelle asked in confusion.
"Oh boy, is this your first time in a battle?" the Virovirokun asked, recovering from their delirium a bit.
"Uh... well... um... yes." Noelle admitted.
"Oh boy..." the virus sighed, and they and Frisk explained how battles work to Noelle. Tina listened too, though the little girl already knew most of it.
"I get it! It's kind of like Dragon Blazers! And if we're nice to you, we can win through mercy?"
"Yeah." the virus said, pleased.
With that, Frisk, Tina, and Noelle took care of the Virovirokun, helping them feel better, though Noelle tripped bringing a bowl of water over and ended up soaking Frisk.
"Sorry, Frisk..." Noelle said apologetically as the Virovirokun wandered away happily.
"It's fine." Frisk smiled. "And you did great for your first battle!"
"T-Thanks." Noelle said shyly, looking down at her feet. She then chuckled a bit. "I wish I could handle everything as calmly as you though..."
Frisk chuckled. "You think I was CALM when I first came to the Dark World? I wasn't, trust me. Nearly had a panic attack right there. I was in some creepy place, didn't know if I had fallen into some sort of alternate dimension or was dreaming or even DEAD, and I was all alone. Susie and I had gotten separated in the fall, and I was worried she was hurt or dead, and I was scared to death. So you're not alone in getting freaked out. I just had a day to get used to this, and honestly, I'm not sure if I ever would if I hadn't had Ralsei and Susie. So don't worry about being unsure. I'm here for you, and so's Tine, and Ralsei and Susie are too."
"Yeah! We'll all help you!" Tina reassured her.
Noelle smiled. "Thanks, guys."
...
Despite Noelle's uncertainty, she quickly got used to ACTing, and in their next fight with two Ambyu-Lances, with just the sweet words that needles weren't scary and medical care was important, had the anti-viruses immediately falling for her kind nature and letting them pass.
They talked to some people called the Addisons, who apparently lived to advertise, and then headed down the sidewalk, where they had to deal with the absolute pain that was Cyber World traffic. Thankfully, despite having to hit the traffic lights with just the right timing to keep cars from blocking the crosswalk, they managed to cross the two streets without as a friendly Werewire aptly put it, "Getting their asses kicked."
After calming a Virovirokun and Ambyu-Lance teamup, they came upon a large advertisement for a Ferris Wheel.
"Frisk, they've got a Ferris Wheel here! Can we go on?" Tina pleaded.
"We'll see." Frisk told her, not sure how expensive the ride was, where it was, or if it was dangerous considering how the roller coaster and that last teacup ride had nearly ended. Queen wasn't exactly known for safety.
"What are you guys looking at?" Noelle asked curiously as she walked up behind them.
"Just an advertisement for a big Ferris Wheel here. But considering Queen let people on her roller coaster without it being finished..." Frisk told her.
"Oh yeah. That was scary..." Tina said quietly.
"Don't worry, Tina! Our Winter Festival is coming up, and we've got a Ferris Wheel too." Noelle reassured her. "It's not quite as big as this one, but it's still fun." She blushed a bit. "I... I wonder if Susie would want to ride with me..."
"Ask her." Frisk suggested, thinking this was the best advice as she couldn't speak for Susie and say what Susie would choose.
"Yeah! She liked riding the teacups with me, Frisk, and Ralsei, so I bet she'll want to ride the Ferris Wheel with you too!" Tina told her happily.
"R-Really? Y-you really think so? Well, I've gotta trust the word of the two Susie experts!" Noelle said with a giggle. "Thanks!"
"You're welcome!" Tina said happily.
As they continued on, a pink Addison called out to them. 'Ohhon! Two young beings together on a school night with their little one! Could I interest you in some brand new Dating Shoes...?
"H-huh? No, no, you've got it totally wrong!" Noelle exclaimed, waving her arms. "Frisk and I are just... umm... fr... friends? I mean, we've only known each other for a couple of weeks, but um..." She looked to Frisk as if for confirmation.
"Yeah, we're friends." Frisk replied with a smile despite the awkward situation. She felt better when she saw Noelle brighten. "And this is my little sister Tina."
"Oh, so you're not together? So how about some brand new Divorcing Shoes?" the Addison answered.
Frisk sighed, deciding it would be pointless to explain any further. She simply told the Addison "No, thank you," and finally found the path out of the maze of shops, a tiny little alleyway. "Man, that was awkward." she muttered. Noelle nodded with a laugh.
They came upon a set of glowing panels, one in front of and one behind an electric force field. Frisk stepped on the panel and the force field immediately went down, but as soon as she stepped off it to go ahead, it shot back up again.
"Hmm, looks like you need to hold it down." Noelle suggested. "Frisk, you keep standing on this one!" Frisk nodded, stepping back on the tile and Noelle headed over to the next tile and stood on it. "OK, you guys come over here!"
Frisk and Tina headed over to Noelle's side, and Noelle grinned. "Nice teamwork!" Frisk grinned back and high fived her, and Tina did as well.
They headed deeper into the alleyway, but just as they were about to step out of the shadows into a more open area, they heard Queen's familiar, operatic laugh.
"Frisk, it's Queen... She's right over there!" Noelle gasped, and Frisk looked over, seeing Queen standing in the middle of the alleyway, throwing back another glass of the green stuff she always carried around with her, her cheeks tinted red as she laughed uproariously at nothing.
"Oh no." Frisk sighed. "She's..." She glanced to Tina. "D-R-U-N-K." she whispered to Noelle.
Tina's eyes went wide. "She's drunk?!"
"Oh yeah, you can spell." Frisk said sheepishly. "Noelle, take Tine and hide. I'll distract her." Noelle nodded, gently pulling a now protesting Tina with her as Frisk headed nervously up to Queen.
Queen turned when she heard Frisk approaching. "Oh. Lmao. You're Here." She frowned. "Where's Tina Bean? Did She Disappear Like My Sweet Noelle?" She gasped. "Frisk We Gotta Find Her. She's Too Tiny To Wander The City Alone!"
Frisk's eyes widened at the concern Queen was showing for Tina. She managed to snap out of her shock and smiled reassuringly. "She's fine, Queen. I had her stay back while I came to check on you, since, um, you don't seem to be feeling too well."
Queen calmed a bit and looked sheepish. "Sorry Frisk While I've Been Looking For Noelle I've Had Like 4 Of These All Ages Appropriate Glasses Of Pure Battery Acid" She laughed again and threw her glass, making Frisk flinch back. When her parents had thrown "parties" at her house, often drunk or high people, including her parents, ended up throwing things. That never ended well...
Queen waved her hand dismissively. "Don't Worry That Was My Throwing Glass It's Safe." she said calmly. "Look Frisk" She smiled in a friendly way and turned to her. "Frisket The Biscuit. Now That We Are Trucies... I Feel Like We Are On The Same..." She walked closer. "Mathematical Wavelength."
She came even more into Frisk's personal space and then literally leaned on her, making Frisk stagger a bit under the sudden weight. "Why Don't You Like Me Frisk?" she pouted. "We're Both Mothers. Well I'm A Mother And You're A Sister With The Search History Of A Mother... "
"Why are you looking up my search history?"
"I Just Cannot Compute It." Queen continued, ignoring Frisk. "Why Everyone Else Is So... Ungrateful." She stood upright again, laughed, and threw her newest glass. It promptly exploded, making Frisk jump back. "Whoops That Was My Extra Dangerous Glass." she laughed, then noticed Frisk's expression. "Oh No You're Showing A Fear Reaction Again. Though... Your Reaction To Glass Breaking And Sudden Movements... Your Malnourishment..." She wrapped Frisk in a hug, one that felt far too entrapping for Frisk to want. Frisk tried not to panic and stood stiffly, letting it happen, but not liking it. "Oh Frisk" she cried, and she actually sounded genuine. "You Need Tender Loving Care. You Need My Care. Oh Frisk I Just Want To Make You And My Precious Noelle Smile. I Want To Make Everyone Smile. And If I Become An Evil Villain To Accomplish That... Is That Bad?"
Frisk looked up at Queen. She couldn't see into her eyes because Queen had a visor for eyes, but something about both her words and expression struck her as being completely honest, with the earnestness of the acid in her system tearing down her walls. And she had been around enough drunk people to know that often people said what they truly felt under the influence.
Though this was the first time that what someone said under the influence hadn't been something cruel, but something surprisingly gentle and kind, and it was from someone who had scared her nearly as much as King had.
"It's Okay." Queen said with a gentle smile, taking her lack of response as a response. "You Do Not Have To Answer." She laughed. "You Would Be Wrong." She then got serious. "But Frisk... While We're Still Trucies Maybe We Could... Make The Most Of It." She signaled and the arcade game they had played before dropped from the sky. "Get Your Sister And We Can Play That Game Again. Wasn't That... Fun, Frisk?" Frisk hesitantly nodded and Queen smiled. "Just The Three Of Us Having A Good Time. No One Else To Get In The Way."
And of course it was at that moment that a giant golden statue dropped down from out of nowhere, landing on the arcade machine and crushing it, making it explode. And then Berdly jumped down, trotting up to Queen like an eager puppy. "Queen! I've been looking everywhere to show you this! A monument to our greatness... Together."
And it was indeed monumental. A monumental disaster, and yet Frisk couldn't look away. The statue was of a giant muscular Berdly, complete with nipples, a six pack, and Queen hanging off his bulging biceps. And Queen was just as befuddled as Frisk was, her visor showing question marks as she tried to find words to describe this horror.
"Oh. Um..." She stammered her words for a few more seconds, something Frisk had never seen the cool and collected Queen do, then grinned falsely. "How Do I Put This? Very..." She hesitated as Berdly beamed with pride. "Smart." The word "Lying" was written boldly on her visor, but it was still kind of touching how she was trying so hard not to hurt his feelings. "So Smart You Are. I love Tolerating You."
"Haha! I KNEW you'd be enamored. Such perfect taste." Berdly bragged, giving a "chef's kiss."
"Very Cool Statues." Queen said, "Lying" still showing up loud and clear on her visor. "I Did Not Know You Had... Nipples."
Berdly laughed. "Haha... I will SOON... In our IDEAL WORLD." He turned to Frisk. "Frisk, feel free to admire our artisanship."
"I will. It really...stands out." Frisk told him honestly. After all, he'd clearly worked his butt off on the thing, and it was well detailed even if it was really weird.
"Heh, at least your taste is improving. Now Queen and I have plans to consider."
"Haha Yes Oooh So Good Looking Forward To That." Queen said with a too wide grin. "Mmmmm Yum Yum Yum Yum Yum. Let's Go Burghley" Berdly happily hurried off and Queen halted as soon as he wasn't looking. "Keep Going I Am Right Behind You Procedurally Lowering The Volume Of My Voice." Berdly must have believed that too because he kept going, and as soon as he was out of sight, Queen hurried back to Frisk. "Sorry Frisk I Must Alt Tab Out Of Here. Give Your Sister My Love. Oh And Here Take This." She pulled something bright yellow out of her inventory and tossed it to Frisk, who caught it instinctively.
Frisk blinked at the object in her hands. "A banana?"
"Potassium" Queen said proudly. "Your Levels Are Low We Need To Fix That." Frisk didn't even have the chance to respond before Queen hurried out of the alleyway where she passed Noelle who was clearly wearing a box for a face and Tina who was peeking out from behind Noelle, looking confused and frightened. Queen smiled when she saw them. "Oh There You Are Tina Bean. Don't Worry I'll Teach You To Play Robot Warriors Later. But Here Have A Banana." she greeted the little girl. She reached past Noelle to ruffle Tina's hair, then handed her a banana and headed off, but not before pausing to look at Noelle. "Wow Cool Face."
"Phew..." Noelle sighed. "Looks like my disguise worked." She pulled it off. "It's silly looking, but it beats hiding... Let's get going, guys!" She moved to head off and follow Frisk and Tina but went in the complete wrong direction.
Frisk's eyes widened. "Noelle, watch out for the..."
But it was too late. Noelle, unable to see where she was going, tripped over the statue's foot.
Frisk hurried over. "Noelle, you okay?!"
She nodded shakily. "I'm fine. Just realized... I can't see anything... haha..." She pulled off the box again. "Guess I'll try not to wear it unless I have to."
"Good idea."
"Frisk, what am I supposed to do with this?" Tina asked, holding up her banana. "You told me not to take food from strangers."
"Here, let me check it." Frisk said, taking the banana from her sister. It looked and felt like an ordinary banana and she didn't think Queen would poison them, but her propensity for explosions made her nervous. She wished she could Check items like monsters could.
And then something happened. The banana glowed slightly, and what looked like a dialogue box appeared above it.
Banana
Just an ordinary banana, given to you by Queen. +80 HP +Potassium.
Frisk's eyes widened. "I can Check items now!"
"You can?" Noelle asked in surprise. "I didn't know humans could do that."
"I didn't either, but... things have been changing with me ever since I came here. Maybe it has to do with being a Star User." Frisk mused.
"It might." Noelle agreed.
"I wanna try! I wanna try!" Tina cheered.
"Go ahead, Tine." Frisk told her, and Tina grinned and held out her weapon.
"Check Item!" she said confidently, and Frisk saw her eyes light up. "This says it has +2 Attack +1 Defense, and +1 Cute! What does that mean?" she asked.
"It means you have a great weapon and you're adorable." Noelle chuckled and Frisk nodded with a smile. She then looked thoughtful. "Hey, if you guys can Check items now, can one of you check me?" She looked sheepish. "I know it's silly, but I want to see if this world gave me any abilities too."
"It's not silly at all." Frisk reassured her and concentrated, Checking Noelle. "Whoa! This says you're a LV1 Snowcaster and that you have the moves Heal Prayer, SleepMist and IceShock!"
Noelle's eyes were wide. "Really?!"
Frisk nodded with a smile. "Ralsei's got Heal Prayer too. It's a special healing move where you can heal either yourself or your partner some." She checked to see if she could check more into the moves, and to her delight, she could. "And this says SleepMist is a cold mist that sweeps through, putting all tired enemies to sleep. So it's like Ralsei's Pacify, but has a bit more range. Cool! And IceShock looks to be a physical attack that deals Magical ICE damage to one enemy!"
"So I'm... I'm an ice mage! Just like Elsa! That's so awesome!" Noelle cheered.
"Elsa? Is she someone in your family?" Frisk asked curiously.
Noelle laughed. "No, silly, she's the Snow Queen! You know, from the Frozen movies? She's a Disney Princess, well, more of a Disney queen."
"I've never seen that movie. Sorry." Frisk admitted sheepishly, blushing in embarrassment.
"You haven't? You and Tina will have to come to my house sometime and see it." Noelle offered with a smile.
Frisk smiled back. "I'd like that. A lot."
Tina nodded eagerly. "Yeah, that sounds so fun!"
"It's settled then." Noelle said happily, then looked thoughtful. "I wonder if my IceShock looks like Elsa's snow powers."
"Let's test it out." Frisk suggested, then her eyes widened as she realized how that could be taken. "Not on an enemy, I mean. We don't want to hurt anyone. Like a wall or that weird statue of Berdly's or something."
"Sounds good." Noelle agreed. "It's, um, probably not going to be very impressive though. I'm only LV1 and I literally just found out I had it." She held out her hands towards Berdly's statue and concentrated.
But instead of the small attack Noelle had clearly expected, a huge rush of ice crystals shot from Noelle's finger tips, freezing the legs of the statue and halfway up the waist. The girls' eyes widened.
"Wow... I didn't know I could DO something like that... Um, we'd probably better NOT use it in battle though unless we REALLY have to." Noelle chuckled nervously.
"Definitely not, but that was so awesome! You're seriously strong, Noelle!" Frisk told her.
Tina nodded happily and gave Noelle a hug. "You're so cool!"
Noelle smiled widely. "T-Thanks! You guys are too!" She then turned to Frisk. "OK, let's go for real this time!"
Frisk nodded with a smile and led Tina and Noelle out of the room. Looking back, she noticed that Noelle was walking with a smile, and much more confidence than before.
It filled her with Determination.
...
Hope you guys have enjoyed the first part of Frisk and Tina's adventures with Noelle! It was a fun chapter to write and I love the idea of Noelle exploring her ice powers in a Pacifist route with no murder. It'd be cool to see what a Noelle slowly growing confident in her powers would become. Also, Frisk and Noelle's conversation about Elsa is based on a fanart my awesome friend J-Farraday made of this fic. :)
And Queen's pretty much decided she's adopting Frisk and Tina as well as Noelle now. Frisk is not happy about this. :D
